One of the best books I’ve ever read. LOVE this series. It is one of those books that you continue to think about long after putting it down.

You need to read this book!. Probably the most amazing book I’ve ever read! It’s an amazing book that I’d say is recommended for 12+ or 11+ if you’re mature. I watched some book reviews on YouTube about this and everyone who did one said it made them think. I agree with that. In a perfect world with no death, sickness, or diseases, how would we end up? I love this so much! And I especially love the main characters Citra and Rowan. They’re both super smart and sweet, genuine people.This book is filled with unexpected twits and turns. I 100% recommend!! ❤️

Awesome!. I read this 433 page book in about 4 days. I found that once you start reading it you can’t stop. I read about 100 pages a day and went to sleep thinking about the book. Overall, I think it is one of the best books I have read.

Tremendous. Best dystopian book since the Hunger Games

Absolutely amazing!. This is one book I couldn’t put down and found myself thinking about all the time. It provokes some real thoughts and contemplation on death and the what if scenario of a world that has defeated death while still being highly entertaining and not too heavy handed on these ideas. If you want a good read, I’d highly recommend this!

It’s pretty good.😅👌. So my librarian at my school knew I liked this type of genre. So she recommended it to me. It just has some great horror aspects to keep you guessing. I mean maybe a 13+ book cus of the deception of killing people but Sure if you like horror and you 13+ go ahead. I really enjoyed it 10/10.👍👏

A Book That The World Needed. Not only is this book well written, it provokes thought in the mind. A world without death is faultless, one would think... Definitely recommend this amazing book.

An existential crisis, but make it cool. Nothing like a great YA book to make you examine our collective mortality. This book was absolutely fascinating and is perfect for anyone that wants to explore a genuinely realistic utopian future. This book is wonderfully paced and I am deeply satisfied by the character development across the board. I feel so full of ideas and appreciation of life, I wish there were more books like this!

Good but took a while to get to the good. It takes a long time to get to the really good stuff in the book but worth the read.

I can't think of a title. I read this book in around a week, and really enjoyed it. The concept at the core of the story is immensely creative, the worldbuilding is practically flawless, and the sense of tension lingers through the plot's many twists and turns. While I very easily immersed myself in the world Neal Shusterman has created, the two central characters weren't very memorable, and had very little chemistry. The journal entries of various Scythes places in between chapters add variety, serving as both a breather when the tension begins to peak and a look further into the book's world. Overall, Scythe is a unique, thought-provoking dystopian thriller that will stick with you long after reading.

Amazing!. Wow! Just wow! I had no idea that this book would be as good as it is. Citra and Rowan have been offered positions that anyone would be crazy not to accept in their immortal world. The status of being a scythe, or an honorable reaper of life, to prevent overcrowding. Little do they realize that as much as they don't want to accept the apprenticeships, their roles have become a necessity. The twists and turns that accompany their journeys keep you turning pages well into the night and the next day. I read this book in two days. It's impossible to put down. So good.

Unbelievable. Speechless is one way to put it. I literally couldn’t put this book down and read the whole thing is two days! Possibly the best book I’ve ever read!

New. There’s not much YA books out there that don’t share the same plot. This book has the idea of non-evil AI, something you don’t see in most YA novels. And there’s no aliens! It’s an amazing book that doesn’t share aspects of other science-fiction books.

Very good. An interesting utopia. Most futuristic books portray AI ruling as bad. This book showed the benefit of a non human ruler. I enjoyed it, has a lot to do with death, shows the cost of a perfect world like this. The scythedom reflects human nature. It becomes corrupt, no matter how noble it started out as.

On all three books. I’ve read all three consecutively, the first book is a strong novel. The story is based on a great premise with a well defined world. It ends in a way that leaves you wanting more but satisfied if it never continued. The second book (Thunderhead) is a bit of a rollercoaster as it starts well enough, letting us learn where and what characters are doing but throws some surprises and leaves you sad but hopeful. It ends in a way that you know there’s going to be a third book. That third book (Toll) is disappointing. Neal Shusterman writes with a political undertone unnecessary to the story and absent in the first two. While the world remains interesting and cool, the writing feels rushed and blunt. It ends okay, but the ride to the end is unsatisfying. Overall, this story (all three books) is simply okay. The premise and world is fascinating and cool but the execution is subpar. I believe this is the main reason why not everyone knows about it.

An adventure to the death 10/10. What a book this is. Truly a cyberpunk feel to it, with an amazing story. Just read this and be hypnotized to the last page.

Amazingly Deep, Addictive, and Enduring Books. This is absolutely nothing short of the best book I have ever read.

Deep and enjoyable. I liked the theme of death. Unlike many other YA books that train assassins and consider it a “cool job. Here there were a moral code and willingness to kill with no remorse was actually a problem. It was very quotable. Not much of a character development but that wasn’t the point either. I liked the various third POV’s we saw. It was an enjoyable read in overall.

Idea. You should think about making the arch of the scythe trilogy into a movie or two, I think it would be a great idea. I loved the book especially the part were Rowan breaks Citra back, b/c he did it to look on purpose to most people including Citra her self keeping her from helping him in the rest, SPOILER ALERT , My next favorite part is when Citra becomes Scythe Anastasia and punches Rowan to give him immunity, Ingenuous! like The high blade sad, enough deniability to make it hard to dispute if she purposely gave him immunity.

Fairly decent. The book itself took me a while to get into because the first half of the book is them just training, but in the second half I was thoroughly with the twists and turns.

Interesting perspective on a new world. I enjoyed the view of a world where AI is embraced to solve all of humanity’s biggest problems, including death. An interesting prospect of how we could evolve if we got out of our own way sometimes.

Scythe. Good read and thoughtful about the future.

Loved this book.. Immediately bought the second. This whole book will make you compulsive page turner always trying to figure out what happens next. Sacrificed sleep without regret just to finish it. Can’t wait for what’s next.

Absolutely riveting. I could not put the book down. It was absolutely amazing. Not only is it a coming of age novel with a real plot and vivd description with each character contrsucted perfectly to the last detail, but it also teaches and ingrains the importance of death; it is what allows us to truly stay human and provides people with a will & motivation to live life to the fullest. I have just finished the book right now and my hands are trembling as I type this; that is the effect this book had on me. I cannot wait to see what comes next in the series, and if it is anything like this first book, I will be first in line to buy it when released. 10/10 recommend.

The most thrilling book I've ever read. If you are seeking a mystery novel with suspense and romance, this is the book for you. Scythe is filled with witty characters that keep the story interesting. With each chapter came a hint to solve the real mystery in life, and immortality. Personally, I adored this book because once in a while everyone needs a book about death and how our future may turn out.

Adults POV. As an adult and after reading the introduction to this book, I was afraid I wouldn’t follow or like it. But because I love this author I kept reading. I was hooked by ch 3. I love dystopian fiction, and this without intending to be I think, feels very much that way. It’s unique and tender and brutal and imaginative and suspenseful. I really really can’t find a book I haven’t liked from this author!

This is probably my favorite book I have ever read. This book is awesome you never will want to put it down. The first 75 pages is slow but then they start to get good. You will love this book if you like dystopian books. I and starting right away to read the thunderhead. I will recommend this to everyone I know. Keep reading!

Thrilling. Never have I been so sucked in a book I put everything else of importance on the way side. This book is phenomenal. I had it on my phone and would sneak reading on bathroom breaks at work. 5 out of 5.

Good. Interesting all of the way

A Good Stereotype. Undoubtedly another stereotypical YA novel where a girl with a drastic destiny meets an attractive boy, both of whom become extremely skilled in combat and fight injustice. I was disappointed by this - I had hoped the book would be something more than that. Nevertheless, I still did very much enjoy it, and my disappointment was lessened slightly by the lack of romantic interaction. Important, psychological and philosophical themes were heavily touched on, and the book did a fantastic job of blending elements of both fantasy and science-fiction together.
