“Even better than the first book.” —School Library Journal (starred review)

Rowan and Citra take opposite stances on the morality of the Scythedom, putting them at odds, in the chilling sequel to the Printz Honor Book Scythe from New York Times bestseller Neal Shusterman, author of the Unwind dystology.

Humans learn from their mistakes. I cannot. I make no mistakes.

The Thunderhead is the perfect ruler of a perfect world, but it has no control over the scythedom. A year has passed since Rowan had gone off grid. Since then, he has become an urban legend, a vigilante snuffing out corrupt scythes in a trial by fire. His story is told in whispers across the continent.

As Scythe Anastasia, Citra gleans with compassion and openly challenges the ideals of the “new order.” But when her life is threatened and her methods questioned, it becomes clear that not everyone is open to the change.

Old foes and new enemies converge, and as corruption within the Scythedom spreads, Rowan and Citra begin to lose hope. Will the Thunderhead intervene?

Or will it simply watch as this perfect world begins to unravel?

Reading soon. Im ordering it and it will come on Thursday. I really liked the first book. Have to wait.🥶

One of the best. Normally it takes me three days to finish any other book the same length as thunderhead but this took me nearly a week because at the end of every chapter I would have to consider the rules and legitimacies of society before continuing the question proposed by this book really make you think far more than that of the previous book the only thing I could think that is wrong with this installment is the wait for the next one

MrProteinshake

Please read. If you have read Scythe, you have got to read this second master piece. It starts strong, then goes a little slower, then it hits you full force. You are in for an adventure you’ll remember your whole life. 10/10

Unique and Fresh. Neal Shusterman has a unique mind that brings us stories with fresh insight and inspired stories. Thunderhead is a reminder of our reliance on technologies and the possible ramification of our relinquishment of though. Bravo.

Good read. A nice story that can help one want to be in a world where natural death is no longer an option. One could even suffer life threatening injuries and not have to die. The one sure way to die, gleaning. The above the law Scythe can kill anyone. Once they kill you, death is permanent. Why? Read the book.

SO GOOD!!!. i liked this book so much better than the first, it was fluid yet still kept me engaged the entire time. the added touch of the thunderhead entries was amazing. i loved this so much i’m about to start the 3rd.

MaybeIllPlayThis

I Cried, I Laughed, I Loved. An amazing sequel. This needs to become a movie.

Abcdefghijklmnop...etc.

absolutely meh. i’m a big reader, and nothing about this is memorable to me. it’s an enjoyable filler in your life for a week or two, but nothing in this book has consequence. Nothing here is special and is resoundingly plain when it comes to it’s half-attempt at engaging worldbuilding

Just Another Booker

Thunderhead. A thrilling sequel to the original Scythe. It introduces more characters and brilliantly follows up others. Citra is a junior scythe under Scythe Curie and Citra continues to learn more about the scythedom and the forces corrupting it. Rowan is on the run from the scythedom, not only for his performance at the last conclave he attended, but for crimes against the scythedom he has committed. You meet Greyson Tolliver, dedicated to the Thunderhead, and learn more about regular people who live in the universe of Scythe.

Absolutely amazing, really makes you think of these interesting concepts. OK, so basically these connections with relating the Thunderhead and Grayson and the tonests with some sort of religious beliefs was OMG THE MOST MIND BLOWING THING EVER. I could go on and on about this book (s) because they were so well curated and put together that everything LEGIT EVERTHING could be a conversation starter or even more, a full on questioning the smallest things in life or the largest things in life. These book really make me think and it amazes me every time. It is honestly one of the most gut wrenching and just plain ol FREAKING AMAZINGLY put together books I have read in probably, at least a few years. I am certainly sharing this video with my friends and doing whatever it takes for them to read the book and to engage in some interesting conversations about it. This was really sloppy when I put it together sorry 😅 but anyways I absolutely love this video and definitely checking out some more

Best book series I have ever read. Need I say more?

Sneaky 1000

A MUST READ. I’m not one to read a book, but this was absolutely amazing. I recommend it to everyone.

Safar4r

Capturing. Once you start you can’t stop

Mateo BV

Incredible, I would recomend it to anyone over 11. One of if not the best book I have ever read. in my opinion, it is better than the first book. it is what I would call a “edge of the seat” book. It truly shows human nature and corruption, 2 things that sometimes go together. by the end of the book i can guarantee you will be reaching for the sequel or searching it online.

Heaven Nija

Thunder thunder. Loved it, I really did.

Hemingway fan

Good...with some setbacks.. I loved the first book. I flew through it and couldn't wait for this one. Until I met Greyson. I found myself skipping down the page to get through his intolerable and boring storyline. The rest of the book was GREAT.

Dragonfish1829

It was great. I won’t give it five stars because of Greyson I found his character very boring.

Tjedelen

It’s almost good. Well it’s hard to predict. I’ll give it that. Mostly because it’s really really bad. Unpredictably bad. Save your time, go read something better.

Annaboba

AMAZING. such a good book, totally recommended!

Zoeflint

This was WOW. I loved this book and found it completely thrilling! It did end a bit abruptly and left me wishing for more. I’d say if you’ve read the first book in this series ( or if you haven’t ) you need to read this book.

Tjames1502

BEST BOOK EVER. There was only one thing about this book, the cliffhanger at the end. I have been waiting for this book to come out for a year and i expected a conclusion. Now its on to waiting again😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫

Parzival⚡️

Mind blown. I thought it couldn’t get any better. It did. I loved it. The ending will have you on pins and needles waiting for el numero 3

Aaronbigcow

Scythe. Amazing book can’t wait for the third one

Star_wars_geek

Best Arc of Scythe book. While I haven’t rated either book one (Scythe) or book three (The Toll), the reason I’m rating Thunderhead is simple... it’s the BEST book in the series. The writing is beautiful, I love the character of Greyson, and I had chills when the book ended, and I still get chills... after reading it for the 7th time! It’s amazing. If you liked Book One Scythe, READ THUNDERHEAD!!!!

Reviewer-84

Such an amazing sequel. I read this in about a week and it was SO GOOD. I could barely put it down! Highly recommend!

Rogue064

Super captivating. I love the concept of this world and the story arc is written really well. Once you start this story, you’ll never want to put the book down. I can’t wait for the third book to come out 😭

The Cello Player

Cleb456

Bookworm2317

Andrew stell

Best book Ever!!!!!. This book was probably one of the best books I’ve read in a while. The ending while sad was near perfect and I want more.

Lohanthonysnumber1basicgal

wow, I’m in shock. I need to process the whirlwind of emotions I am currently experiencing after what I have just read. The ending was not what I expected (in a good way) and I did not think it would affect me as much as it did. It’s a slow buildup but it’s worth it as you get closer to the end.

Lydium_coulson

Okay. Took me a very long time to get through but mostly enjoyable.

Van Canon

AHHHHHHHH. I was internally screaming along with the Thunderhead.

Doushite?

Fantastic. Shusterman began an incredible series when he wrote Scythe and I was skeptical as to if he could follow. Having read Unwind and it's subsequent series, I should have had no about. Thunderhead not only continues the extensive world-building in the first book, but takes its characters (new and old alike) through intense amounts of change, despair, and even slight hopes about the revolution brewing in the scythedom. The ending was...masterful. I usually am perturbed about cliffhangers but it was so beautifully done, bringing previously disconnected characters together and I could not find any fault with it except for how long I have to wait for the next installment. Shout out to my favorite character, Greyson and the hornet he undergoes in this book alone. It was right up there with Citra and Rowan, who both had the added perk of being in the first book while Greyson was a creation of this novel. The Thunderhead also develops magnificently and all the ethical questions that arise from an omnipresent, benevolent super computer are explored and the Thunderhead is not treated as a mechanism but as a character. Whose evolution I came to appreciate just as much as those of the humans.

Bravo. I had high hopes for this story because Scythe was so good. This read did NOT disappoint. There is so much mystery and suspense and I was constantly guessing as I read. Thunderhead keeps you on your toes throughout. This book deserves hearty applause. I was thoroughly entertained. Bravo.
