Teach Me

Teach Me by Ella Sheridan Book Summary

Private security has never been so risky—or so tempting.

Ex-military security specialist Conlan James avoids commitment like the plague. His job, his Harley, and an occasional one-night stand are all he needs—or so he tells himself. But after he rescues Jess from a tense situation, he can't get the shy, sexy brunette out of his mind. He can teach her self-defense, but can he shield his own scarred heart?

Southern belle Jess Kingston spent eight weeks healing from an ex-boyfriend's brutal attack. Now she's ready to put her life back together. Her ex, Brit, has other ideas. She needs someone who can teach her how to fight back—someone like the tough former soldier who rides to her rescue.

As the deadly game of cat-and-mouse intensifies, the heat between Con and Jess becomes an inferno. He'll do anything to keep her safe. She'll do anything to survive. Her vengeful ex is determined to destroy them both, and all it would take is one wrong move.

- Liked the book, hated the ending3 star

I was a little disturbed by the ending. Making her say, “you’re mine” when that clearly tiggers the character is a little messed up and not attractive at all. I hated the character immediately as it happened. Sad, because the book was an easy read.

I loved this book so much, I literally stayed up till 4:30am because I just couldn’t put it down. I loved the characters so much and the suspense throughout the book kept me on edge throughout wondering if Jess was going to make through her horrific ordeal alive or not. So glad the book had a happy ending too!

- Love every moment5 star

Couldn’t stop reading. Luckily had a snow storm and this book had me going all day long. Love the entire story

- Horrible final scene1 star

So the happy ending ends with the love of her life essentially raping her and forcing her to relive her own traumas? Book was great, but that final scene ruined it for me.

- Total page turner!5 star

I couldn’t put it down! The ending was just a little abrupt but that’s the only negative. Can’t wait to read more from this author!

Grammarsnob218 - Good until the end3 star

Good story, a bit heavy on the sex for the plot (seemed more of a checklist item for the author than natural in some scenes). The problem was the end. As in the very last chapter. Light spoiler alert: Throughout the book the heroine is tormented by a stalker who keeps saying how she’s “his”. As in “you’re mine” became his anthem and her nightmare song. And then the very last scene the hero tries to do the same but it’s “different” because he loves her and they’re together even though she’s telling him she’s not ok with it. He pushes and ignores her until she gives in and says it back and accepts it from him. It was creepy. It was uncool. It was not a way to heal and move past trauma it was just effed up. I really wish the author had come up with literally ANYTHING else for them to say to each other in that moment. It was so bad it’s the entire reason for losing 2 stars off the review. If the author would have left out the last scene I would have given it 5 stars, but alas, here we are.
