In the compulsively readable sequel to her widely acclaimed debut novel, You, Caroline Kepnes weaves a tale that Booklist calls “the love child of Holden Caulfield and Patrick Bateman.”

In Hidden Bodies, the basis for season two of the hit Netflix series, You, Joe Goldberg returns.

Joe is no stranger to hiding bodies. In the past ten years, this thirty-something has buried four of them, collateral damage in his quest for love. Now he’s heading west to Los Angeles, the city of second chances, determined to put his past behind him.

In Hollywood, Joe blends in effortlessly with the other young upstarts. He eats guac, works in a bookstore, and flirts with a journalist neighbor. But while others seem fixated on their own reflections, Joe can’t stop looking over his shoulder. The problem with hidden bodies is that they don’t always stay that way. They reemerge, like dark thoughts, multiplying and threatening to destroy what Joe wants most: true love. And when he finds it in a darkened room in Soho House, he’s more desperate than ever to keep his secrets buried. He doesn’t want to hurt his new girlfriend—he wants to be with her forever. But if she ever finds out what he’s done, he may not have a choice…

Lightning does strike twice—not to be missed!. Apparently lightning does strike twice. Caroline Kepnes managed to craft another creepy, shocking, hilarious, and absolutely addictive read. Right off the bat we’re thrown into the middle of Joe’s next chapter. Impressively we’re hit with a major plot twist and almost immediately taken cross country to sunny SoCal. Just when you think you’ve got Joe and his next move all figured out, Kepnes throws you another curve ball. I seriously did not see that ending coming. HIDDEN BODIES is NOT to be missed!

Beachbaby8686

I want more !. Hoping there will be a third book in this series. I want to know what happens to Joe. I loved both You and Hidden Bodies. Both are page turners until the last page.

Hidden Bodies gives me a book hangover. This is the follow up to "You" by Caroline Kepnes. We pick right back up where we left off with Joe Goldberg and his seemingly normal life. Without giving anything away, just read this book!! It is haunting, creepy and excellent! I think I need to read it again.

Great read!. I couldn't put it down!! I read it every chance I got. I couldn't stop thinking about it and what was going to happen next. I hope there's a follow up book soon.

Blshowww

Show don’t tell. This author does not follow the show don’t tell rule. This story felt sloppy and rushed. The ending was not satisfying. While I enjoyed the first book I wish I stopped there.

Ozcrome

Interesting Read. The story and character development was interesting. I enjoyed Book 1 much more than this one, but this was also a very strong piece. I recommend you read it and judge it for yourself.

Couldn’t put it down. I am so fascinated with Joe Goldberg. I love YOU and Hidden Bodies. I was so devastated when I finished this one because I wanted it to keep going! You won’t be disappointed.

Motorcyclegirlwithbangs

Poorly written. She should have stopped while she was ahead with “You.” What’s the point in developing a character just to throw him away? Joe in this book behaves nothing like Joe in”You.” In “You”, Joe is obsessive, thoughtful, patient, and unrelenting. Joe in this book easily forgets about Amy and randomly decides to be a writer. There are multiple grammatical and spelling errors, little attention to detail (Amy’s eyes magically change color from one book to the next), the plot is a cocktail of half-baked ideas. The book starts off with a compelling cat and mouse, but veers off on what I thought was a tangent, the Love/Forty gobbledegook. I plowed through hoping for the best, to no avail. Stay away from books that use emojis within the prose.

Hidden Bodies. Meh. This one felt like it was a rushed attempt to capitalize on the success of You. It was sloppy and completely overwhelmed by lucky breaks for the story's protagonist. What made You so engaging was the voice that carried the disturbing tale. This voice was significantly weaker in Hidden Bodies, I suspect because the plot was poorly constructed. I found the conclusion a huge disappointment. How fortunate for Joe Goldberg that every cop on the planet is a total idiot. Also completely lucky that a mug of urine went undetected for a year in a mansion stocked with staff to keep it ship-shape. Love was a fluff character and super annoying (and unbelievable). The murders were unoriginal (and unnecessary). Her first book really did impress me, but this one was low-grade enough that I won't seek out any of her subsequent work.

Great book, beware of cliffhanger. I finished this book within 3 days and I gotta say it was a great one. As you read you really want to find out what’s going to happen to you keep reading. I find myself always rooting for Joe. I don’t wanna put spoilers here but the reason I gave this book 4 stars was due to the ending. It’s a cliffhanger ending and I hope the third book is released soon.

Page turner. Overall, I can say that it wasn’t as good as the first book however I was finding myself reading this fairly quickly in order to find out what happens next. It’s hardly anything like the tv show so don’t expect anything like that. I actually think the second season of the show is better than this block, plot wise. Though I’ll still be reading the next book in this serious as it does keep me fairly interested.

AHC1234

Hidden Bodies. Great book!

Drex2dsguoi

Great book. After watching You, I had to read Hidden Bodies. Didn’t disappoint, couldn’t stop reading! Hoping there is another one to follow!

Holli1215

Huge disappointment. I really liked "You" so I was excited that there was a sequel. Hidden Bodies started off slow and continued to be.....slow.....pretty much the entire book. And it's not a short book. I only finished reading it because I wanted to know what happened at the end. Not sure how it got so many good reviews because it was such a let down compared to the first.

Some Random Boss

Hidden bodies is a dirty treat!. I loved the twist and turns, this story combines humor murder and sex perfectly! I was drawn in from the Netflix show, however the originals are better. This is coming from a huge fan of the show

Monkeys1122

Whaaaaaa?. That’s how it ends?? TWO books and THAT is how it ends?? Worst.ending.ever.

Jules_R2

Love this author!. This book keeps me intensely interested until the very end. I’m left wanting more! I was definitely rooting for the bad guy 😅

Rickicollins

Hidden Bodies. Page turner! Awesome book to add to my summer list!

👍🏽. This was just a good a read as YOU. I thought Joe was gonna get off unscathed since everything g was going so right for him after 40 died but as life is getting good, when everything seems right something always goes wrong. It was nice to see the end of Joe’s story. He seems to have evolved past killing ppl. I can only imagine what kind of father he’ll be if he even gets out of jail, which I think he won’t if the cops look in the right places.

Miracle467

Not good! Rambles on. The first book was good this one sounds like a manic person just rambling on and there is no ending, there's no closure. What a waste of my f**king time.

Meem1519

Wow!. What a writer! I love the narrative of this book. Amazing how the author normalizes Joe, and has me rooting for the bad guy.

Ha ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Djsh. Jsjfjdj is the day y’all can get a little more time in my bed to my life and my sisters house tonight so I don’t have to be at home tonight because I don’t know how I Io

A Page Turner. I couldn’t stop reading and wondering what craziness would ensue next. Joe Goldberg never fails to be the perfect mix of good guy/bad guy. At times I found myself rooting for him and his psychotic reactions, but other times I was screaming “DON’T DO IT JOE!” If you have read or seen the Netflix series “You” then this is a definite MUST read. Ending is left for interpretation and made me want more.

Marielle Rizzo

👍🏻. Good but love in the show was crazier and i liked that but overall great read

Viktoria's flame

Disappointing sequel. Reading the first book, I was amazed with the ability of the author to write in such a way that made me unable to put the book down. The first book was captivating, and horrifying, it really captured the essence of a stalker, and how dangerous men like Joe can be. This book is a poor continuation of the first book. Joe is much like a teenager in this book, the only thing on his mind is lust. Moreso, Love is frankly an unbearable character, and is nothing like her character in the show. Her sole personality trait is her ridiculous wealth, throwing underwear away after one use.. I cant stand reading about her in this way. She seems ridiculous and shallow, I see none of the duality of her warmth and cunning from the show. She is written like a kiddie pool, I’m not surprised the screenwriters went with a different direction regarding her. Do not recommend anyone reading this if they loved Love from the show, her character being written like this just put a bad taste in my mouth and gave me the indication that Joe has horrible taste in women.
