Gothic love and mystery. It didn’t take me long to realize that this book was about Jack the Ripper with a twist. I loved this book and wished to read the next one in the series. Much to my great regret Apple Books does not carry it. I have found the complete series on... you guessed it ...Amazon Kindle addition. I’m disappointed in Apple Books as they should be still carrying the series but instead have given Amazon a heads up.

Just wow.. This was amazing. A thrilling tale than enamors from the get-go and draws you in until the very last page. Loved it. Wouldn’t change a thing. I love Jack the Ripper and its fiction—now this is one of my favorites. In my opinion, a must read for Historical Fiction/Crime Fiction fans. The romance made it even better, and you definitely don’t see the ending coming.

Dark Desires. NAIL BITER!!! I couldn’t put this book down. It just really appealed to me. Loved it. The mystery surrounding Damien kept me intrigued. I also liked Darcy’s and Abigail’s characters. This story definitely surprised me.

Lush and sublime. Silver writes so beautifully and obviously with much devotion to research, that I sincerely enjoyed falling deep into the atmospheric world she wove in this story. One part history, one part gothic romance with a masterful use of suspense, and all glorious satisfaction. This is the second story of hers I’ve read in as many days, so I believe I’ve found another favorite author. :) I greatly look forward to devouring her entire catalogue! Thank you, Eve Silver, for the truly enjoyable escape during a time that I sorely needed it.

Interesting mystery. I wasn’t sure if about this book and I’d never read anything by this author but I had an offer to get it for free so I figured I’d try it. I really liked it. Trying to figure out who was responsible for the murder was interesting. And the interaction between Darcie and Damien was good. I’ll be looking to read others by this author.

Great story, not so great writing. It's not that the writing was bad. It is just that the amount of descriptions in the book was maddening! In between the dialogues, to make it worse. So it is like someone says "Hi" and then comes 3 paragraphs of "the dog was barking outside, the moon was bright, the carpet was thick" and yada, yada, yada, nothing relevant to the story or the dialogue at hand, and then finally comes the answer of the other character, "Hi, how are you?". I had to fight the urge to skip all those useless descriptions just to get to the point of the story. Which I actually liked. But if we removed all the pointless, useless and endless descriptions, I'm sure this book would be half the size. And the story would have been much easier to appreciate.

Captivating. I really liked this book. It was a little bit of everything.

I liked it a lot!!. At first I was hesitant but I really enjoyed it. The author has a great way of making you feel like you’re there. If you’re hesitant like me just read a couple chapters then you’ll want to know how it ends.

At least it was free.... The writing is overly repetitive. It's a quick read yet the main character, Darcie, is constantly talking in circles as if the reader forgot what happened in the previous pages. There is too much emphasis on descriptions which becomes boring after a while. Some of the character interactions are unbelievably silly, trying to imagine real people acting in such a way distracted from the story itself. Honestly I was entertained enough to finish the book however I am glad I did not pay for it.

A very good read. You never know where this story is going which is amazing it’ll have you on the edge of your seat with every page🖤 absolutely loved this book.

Gothic romance at its very best!. Another suspenseful romance by this author, who may have answered the eternal question (at least in my mind!) of just who is Jack the Ripper, along with a very well deserved HEA.

Quite good. I enjoyed the story of Damien and Darcie. Very dark and gothic the writing reminded me of many a Susan Howatch novel, well edited. If you like your stories a bit on the dark side then this is definitely an author for you to read.

My Favourite Re-Read. At this point I have read this book a few times and have loved it each and every time. The plot is intriguing, the characters loveable and the setting chilling. It was an excellent Historical Murder Mystery Romance that (when I first read it) kept me guessing to the end. But now I just read it to enjoy the other elements of the story like the setting, Sub/Foil characters and how the history of medical science evolved (even though I KNOW this story can’t be 100% accurate in this, it’s still nice to read someones interpretation😊). I won’t give anything away because you have to read it and experience it for yourself without outside interference (or at least that’s my theory for this particular book). Take nothing but your own preconceptions and follow the clues with Darcie Finch. Enjoy.

Captivating read!. It’s been a while since I have found a book that’s got me hooked from the get go! This was a fantastic read, throughly enjoyed it!

I could hardly put it down!. I loved this book, every single bit! So cleverly written! I kept guessing who the culprit was and miserably failed at every turn, but didn't mind at all. If you like the stories of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, Jack the Ripper or Frankenstein, then you're definitely in for a treat!
