Loved the setting.. I love read post apocalyptic stories and I love reading supernatural genres. This book was the best of both worlds. I really felt for the female protagonist and the author challenged her character and the reader to change their mind about the relationship she presents. Can't wait to read the next one. This one took me out of my comfort zone.

Amateur Writing. This book ok took me 2 days to read . . . not because I was locked into the story (which was superficial), but because I skipped several pages at a time to get it over with. There were several typos and the storyline seemed childish. Bailey was hard too connect with and the author tried too hard with the off-the-wall fantasy pieces. Overall--overpriced and lame.

Awesome. I loved this book. The Story concept is amazing, a vampire who is also a protective Viking? That’s my kind of love story. There were a few parts where I thought the writing could be a little better but the book as a whole was good. The abuse of the main heroine hurtmy heart and really got me invested to see her ex get his just rewards. There is mention of torture so if that’s a sore subject for you I’d beware and know it’s in the past but she does open up about it to Erick. Otherwise I’d definitely recommend it to to anyone looking for a romance with growls Vikings vibes.

Wow. Superb! I couldn't put the book down! Loved the story-- love all the characters and how you feel transported into what the character is seeing. I felt like i was watching true blood bits and pieces of it. Its a huge compliment! Written very well and it was a quick read for me. Keep the stories coming! Hot steamy and sentual. Supernatural Human to Vamp story, as the title states hot and steamy!! Super attraction leads to Bailey Ross to Santuary after running from an ex and a Djinn, she finds she feels safe for the first time in since her parents past, she proves her strength of Charater and sexual prowess with her Viking Vamipre.

Good, entertaining read. What I liked: This story transports us to another time and place. About 80 years into the future and a different land. Because different beings have come into the light, prejudice abound and new states, or rather Republics are founded and thus the land as we presently know it is no more. We also get introduced to so many likable and fun characters. Pixies, weres, djinns, sirens, gods of old time, and of course vampires, among others. I’m sure there will be other books in the series so I hope all of them show up in the rest of the stories. The town where they live is magical and it has a genuine feeling to it. It feels homey and everyone seems friendly but it also has that trace of darkness that my PNR side needs in order to feel satisfied. I liked my heroine, Bailey, whom we meet while running from her abusive ex. She seemed a relentless fighter and a strong woman. Even when she confronts new danger and meets our hero, vampire Erick, she meets it head on and with an attitude of “what do I have to lose.” And Erick was a charmer from the moment they met. Even though he was almost too possessive and overly protective from the get go, he pretty much was sent to save her so I’m going to let that go. Not so much: I didn't understand the need to place the story so far into the future. In my opinion it would have made much more sense if set in this time. There are glimpses when the author gives out explanations like why Bailey is always on the run or why she’s ignorant to so many things but they still feel invalid. Perhaps it’s a parallel world and I failed to catch that because Bailey and Erick meet at a bus station. In the year 2096? Ok, if that’s what the author wanted, it’s her world, and I shall take it as it is. All in all the story is much more entertaining than I’m making it sound but there are two things that bugged me to no end, and I’m really sorry if you disagree but it is what it is. When Erick and Bailey meet, all I could think was True Blood, not the books but the actual TV show. It just gave me that impression. It just had that same feeling of magic, faeries, werewolves, vampires, humans. And the hero’s name is Erick Thorson! And NO, I’m definitely NOT saying it’s a copy of the show because IT’S NOT, but occasionally it’s how it felt to me. So yeah, their town is genuine, but the feeling of the story, not so much at times. Also, the last chapter felt unnecessary. Don’t want to throw many spoilers but throughout the book there was no mention of what Erick liked to do until the very end and then all of a sudden, BAM! Yep, you’re going to have to read it to know what I’m talking about. *I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review*

My Viking Vampire. Finally, a super hot and sexy romance with so many sexy supernatural beings I could sing! This is the first book in Krystal Shannan's Sanctuary Series and it does not disappoint, I'm anxiously waiting for the next book in the series! If your looking for hot chemistry and a great storyline...look no further.

Good book.. Something totally different from what I'm used to reading. I like the whole story line.

New melding pot.. This story takes so many elements and melds them together. A town with all kinds of otherworldly beings living together happily, taking care of each other. It was quite the journey to follow Bailey through each twist and turn. To see a strong young woman make an escape from such terror and continue to fight against bad and for good. To fight and find her true home. Erick is a vampire and as soon as he sees Bailey he knows that there is something about her. He will take her to Sanctuary and the will figure things out. He will find out her secrets and make them go away. This was great at keeping me on my toes and waiting to see what was coming around the next corner. Full of hot alpha males, strong, brave women, and lots of magic. Can't wait to read the next one.

Very good story, and very sexy!. I enjoyed the storyline of this novel. The sex scenes are very provocative. If you enjoyed Fifty Shades, the sex in this book is similar, but not every other page which I appreciate. Overall good story though. There are more books to this series which I would like to continue reading!

Steamy and heartfelt. The heat is on in this one, but I read it again and again for the characters, the town, the story, the love. This town is full of special beings, and the way they look out for and care for each other makes it a wonderful read.

My Viking Vampire. This was a wonderful story of “Others” that live among the humans but having many secrets they kept to themselves. It’s set in the future with the government keeping much of the past from the current humans giving them just enough information to survive in the changes of the new world. Bailey is human and finds herself on the run from a very abusive relationship. Her ex is hell bent on finishing what he started and Bailey is forever moving to keep one step ahead of him. On the move again she finds she is being followed by an Other…a djinn. If she can just get to the bus station she feels she may be safe until she can get away. There she is rescued from the djinn by another Other…..a vampire named Erick. But with the trouble she has had in her life is Erick someone she can trust? She realizes she is longing to find that bit of safety and for whatever reason she feels like she can have that with Erick. He talks her into coming to Sanctuary which is a place where the Others can live in peace. He assures her that she will be safe there and he will do whatever he can to protect her. They are both drawn to each other and neither want to fight that attraction. But trust remains Bailey’s weakness. Erick does what he can to prove that Bailey can trust him. He knows she has been wounded by someone and now is being pursued by the dangerous djinn. Sanctuary turns out to be a place where Bailey feels safe for the time and is hoping she can stay for a while. Erick wants to claim Bailey and continues his slow seduction. The author does a great job of telling their story. It has a bit of mystery and suspense as Erick fills his role as protector of The House of Lamidae. Bailey will learn things about herself from the seer and one of the sister’s Arlea and she will have to make decisions based on what she learns. The story was very enjoyable and interesting. I enjoyed the characters and how much they played a part in the storyline. It was well written and leaves us with questions for the next book. I read it in one sitting and it kept me turning the pages to see what would happen next. The chemistry between Erick and Bailey was very sexy and hot. You couldn’t help but hope they worked things out so they could be together. I have read and enjoyed other books by Krystal Shannan and she did not disappoint with My Viking Vampire. Highly recommend! I gave an honest review for an arc copy of this book.

Sex. If you want to read a book basically about sex then this is the book for you. If you want to read about sex with whips and more then this is the book for you. There is very little story/ mystery in this book. You could condense the entire story without all the sex into 50 pages or less. Do I plan on reading another in the series ,NO! Not my cup of tea and lack of interest.

Not sure what to think. This book was super confusing. Also half of the chapters disappeared and it would jump halfway through with no explanation or anything

WOW! VIKING VAMPIRES!!! YUM!. This is my first time reading this author and her style of mixing so many unique characters is so fascinating. This is completely fantasy and a great depiction of good vs. evil and how America could potentially destroy itself if we don’t wake up. I really loved how the vampire made his intentions known RIGHT AWAY. I was hooked. I love ALL the characters, too.

My Viking Vampire, Krystal Shannon. I DID read this entire novel, contrary to my own hard-fast rule: If the first 50 pages are not truly enjoyable to read, then it is highly unlikely that I will enjoy reading however-many-pages there are left until the bitter end. Note to self: Listen to your own advice. My hope was to find Bailey to be another little literary gem in the genre of Sookie Stackhouse. What with all that Fae dust floating in the air, Brownies + Pixies flitting about, hunky twin Lycantropes flexing their pecs and innuendoes. PLUS, a big, blond Viking Vampire even older, taller, sexier and (hopefully) wiser than Sookie's paramour Eric!! Sigh! But, there lies the disappointment. Both Bailey and her Erick are pale imposters. Alas, for those of us enthralled with the paranormal, there is but one Charlayne Harris in this or any other parallel universe. Pity. You do have laudable skills in grammar, and I do appreciate that no blatant errors were left behind by Miss Pell Check or Mr. Otto Korekt. Imagination is excellent! Self-fitting and non-dirtying clothing and shoes would endear you to the entire female population and half the male, if you could actually pull that off. I also read the first two chapters of My Dragon Masters (gratis and less than 50 pages), and found it more confusing than intriguing. Is it meant to be an update to Diana's tale, mixed in with the next adventures of Bailey & Erick? Or a flashback to another time? Either way, I'll probably pass.

My Viking Vampire. Futuristic fantasy stories are not my usual read but I must say I found this book entertaining with its quirky characters and storyline. I will be definitely reading the next story in this series.

Smashing Debut of a New Series!. In 2047, the Others – mostly shifters and vampires came out. Things did not go too well for them in the United States, except in the Republic of Texas. Almost half a century later, the Others are barely tolerated, and in most places, humans are allowed to shoot to kill at will. Bailey Ross has had a tough life and went through a very bad relationship; her former boyfriend was abusive and violent; she still bears the scars of his cruelty. And she is always trying to avoid him; being a cop, he has ways to look for her and he always finds her. Bailey has been taught in school to fear and avoid the Others, like everybody else. But one evening, she is attacked by a Djinn, and she is rescued by, of all creatures, a vampire: Erick Thorson. Strangely enough, Erick is the kindest person she has ever known, and he is not at all like she was told vampires were: he’s kind and thoughtful. He takes her to Sanctuary, a small city for Others, and for the first time in her life, Bailey feels she belongs. But even though she and Erick are quickly falling in love, it’s not that simple. MY VIKING VAMPIRE is somewhat different from a lot of vampire books: the love story is very tender, very loving. Erick might be an alpha when it comes to business, but he’s the perfect gentleman where people or any Other are concerned, especially Bailey. He’s a good man and he genuinely wants to protect and love Bailey. Besides vampires, there are several Others, and the characters are so much more interesting than what I usually see in paranormal romance. I really liked MY VIKING VAMPIRE; it’s intelligent, sexy, sensual, there’s quite a bit of action; nothing’s missing! And Ms. Shannan is an exceptional writer: her prose flows effortlessly, she writes beautifully and yet it’s young and light. A great paranormal romance; highly recommended!

My Viking Vampire. I loved Erick and Baileys story. I couldn’t put it down. It is a little different to the other paranormal books I read. So many different characters and I can picture them in my mind and can’t wait for them to meet their mates and get their happily ever afters. You won’t be disappointed in this series.

The last scene ruins the book.. It was a good read but the last scene turned my stomach. All I wanted was for the main character to run for the hills. The book deals with a significant amount of trauma and I can’t say the last scene deals with it in an easy to digest way. I wouldn’t recommend for anyone with sexual trauma. For me personally the last scene undermined the whole narrative of the main love interests. The book would have been better off without it. Generally speaking the story lacks timeline. It’s a good outline for a very cool fictional world but the events could have been spread across several months of not years. Nothing progresses naturally, but the concepts are fun and engaging enough to keep you reading. I cannot emphasize enough how difficult the last scene was to read and how much it ruined the book for me. The story establishes characters who care for each other and would never violate each other’s boundaries. Be a champion for their rights and freedoms in a world where human rights have been stripped. This feels entirely undermined in the last scene where the protagonist is pushed to relieve trauma to satiate their partner. I just wanted them to run away and burn the building to the ground. It made me feel like the main love interest became the greatest villain and predator. The protagonists “positive” reaction to this scene feels so unnatural and un-relatable given the abuse they have withstood. It leaves me with a bad taste in my mouth and chills in my spine. It’s a shame because most of the book is fantastic other than what feels like a forced DOM saves abuse victim from trauma by turning them into a SUB.

A hot mess of a story. An interesting mythology and world but the whole this was a mess. Plotless and pointless. No to mention no timeline to speak of. Nothing happened is a way that seemed like a natural progression it just felt disjointed. Like things just happened with no rhyme or reason.

AMAZING!. I received a complementary copy from the author for an honest review. I have just finished 'My Viking Vampire' & all I can say is.... Now that was intense! This is my second books of Krystal's & it was as amazingly written as her other novel 'To Save a Mate'. This is book 1 in Krystal's "Sanctuary, Texas" series & should be read in order as this book gives you a background on most of the main characters situated in Sanctuary. Set in the not so far future, 2096, paranormal creatures are a norm & you're taught about para's in school instead of history. 20 year old Bailey Ross is on the run again from her crazy sadisctic ex, having spotted his car she races home to find her apartment flooded with raw sewage. Grabbing what little isn't ruined & reaking, she's starts heading toward a bus depot, only she is being hunted/chased by something alot worse than her ex... In steps Eric Thornson, tall, buff & a Vampire. He feels instantly protective of Bailey & offers her a place to stay safe & relax for a while, but can Bailey trust him??? This is a MUST read, this book entranced me with it's emotionally gripping, fast paced, steamy scenes & flowing plot. This book is filled with paranormals & had me addicted, Krystal's work is so easy to read & majorly enjoyable, I plan to read all books she has written.... but especially can't wait for book 2 of this series.

Not bad.... An okay read, mainly because it was free. Too much of the story was repetitive, the whole fetish club crap was unnecessary, and the climax was seriously anticlimactic. Why was the newbie able to do something so easily when others had been trying to do it for thousands of years unsuccessfully? Erik's POV would have been really nice, if it hadn't been about some stupid scene. Storyline was good, but could have done without half the book. Definitely won't be reading any of the other books, even though I actually liked Garrett.

My Viking vampire. I sat down this morning, thought I'd read for 5 minutes before doing the housework, I picked this book and it had me hooked from the beginning. It's amazing from start to finish, now I can't wait to read the rest of the series... I would recommend you read this book if you get the chance!
