Reviw: Lonesome Point, Texas #1: Leather and Lace. Leather and Lace by Jessie Evans is the first book in her series. To be honest, I tend to roll my eyes at rugged Texas cowboy books. I have no reason for it - they're just not my thing. Until now. This book blended the world as I know it and the romantic fiction world together in such a way that I didn't find it so completely, well, hokey. Mia is back home in Lonesome Point, Texas running her lingerie business, Lavender and Lace and is still recovering from a nasty breakup and subsequent attack that happened almost a year ago. Her family (read Grandmother) owns the ghost town and is planning to get the still closed/non-touristy side renovated and restored to help boost business. This is where the ridiculously hot Sawyer swaggers in. He does wear a cowboy hat but the only horse he has between his legs is a supercharged Harley and all the horsepower it has to offer. Sparks ignite between Mia and Sawyer but because of her past she ignores it and denies her attraction to Sawyer. Can she move beyond her issues with her past to let him in, is it worth it. He's only here for as long as the restoration takes and then he will be on to his next job... A simple enjoyable read that will warm your hands and heart. Mia is hilarious and Sawyer is the manliest sweet guy ever.

Lavender and Lace. My first book by this author and I love it. Can't wait to continue this series.

Hot Cowboy and Feisty Prankster. I am a big fan of Jessie Evans and have enjoyed all her books thus far includinng Leather and Lace. Leather and Lace's setting takes place in a small ghost town in Lonesome Point, Texas. Mia Sherman, a descendent of this small town and the owner of the lingerie shop in town, is one feisty, wild, prankster playing hottie. Sawyer Kane is the hot cowboy, harley riding, restoration expert sent to Lonesome Point to help restore the ghost town. One night, while Mia and her friends were partaking in one of her crazy prankster schemes, Mia literally ran into Sawyer, knocking him off his feet and into his heart. They both have been hurt from past relationships but they can not deny their steamy hot attraction for one another every time they run into each other, eventually giving in. What they thought would be a summer fling becomes so much more. Not only will you be drawn to this book because of Mia and Sawyers steamy hot relationship, but also because it includes a ghost town mystery, family curses, and past loves that return to stir trouble.

4 1/2 Stars - Another Entertaining Success. Jessie Evans has written a surprisingly different kind of romance, but I loved every minute of it. Leather and Lace was definitely unlike the other series written by Ms. Evans, but I must say was very entertaining and unquestionably, in my mind, a success. Mia Sherman is an outgoing, fun-loving young woman born and raised in the town of Lonesome Point, Texas and is a decedent of the family who founded the small town. After escaping from a horrifying situation while attending graduate school in California, Mia runs back to her hometown to the comfort and safety of her family and the friends who have always loved her. Weary on taking the chance of letting another man into her life, Mia makes the decision to keep her heart safe and protected guarding against the possibility of again letting anyone in who may ultimately end up hurting her. But when a handsome and magnificently intriguing stranger rides into town on his Harley, Mia is hard-pressed to maintain her distance despite the fear that continues to arise within her. Sawyer Kane works at restoring old ghost towns bringing them back to their former glory to bolster tourism. When he arrives in Lonesome Point to bid on the town’s current restoration project, he is surprisingly knocked off his feet by a beautiful redhead who immediately catches his attention. Although he makes every attempt to get her to say yes to a date, Mia continuously belays his advances insisting on keeping their relationship on the level of friendship. But when Sawyer discovers Mia is to be his guide through the history of the town and renovation venture, he is happily surprised knowing he will be able to spend more time with her and get to know Mia and simply have some fun together. But when Mia’s threatening past comes back to haunt her, Sawyer comes to the realization that this spirited and beautiful woman has come to mean more to him than he ever anticipated was possible and will do anything within his power to protect her and keep her safe from harm. The spark and chemistry between Mia and Sawyer definitely ignited the pages on my kindle. The fun and banter between not only the main characters but the supporting cast as well was amusing and enjoyable. There were definitely some surprising elements which I have never encountered, but which gave this book a bit of a different twist. Leather and Lace is a delightful and gratifying story of two people who have suffered from circumstances of their past, but whose hearts and souls ultimately join together helping each other to overcome those incidents to heal and find love.

Long Time Reader; First Time Reviewer. This is the first Lil book I’ve read, and I really enjoyed it. There is a good mix of character development, obstacles, resolution, happiness and hanging on for the HEA. On top of that, there is an ancestry play, and unsettled great, great, etcetera to Amelia that helps out and a feisty grandma. Trigger warning if you’ve experienced an abusive relationship.

Mia and Sawyer. Wonderful story! Ghosts and curses and love and sex and oh my!! I loved this book. Could NOT put it down. Worth every bit of no sleep I had.

Excellent. I looked over the publisher’s description a few times before I decided to get this; and I am so glad I did. It did not disappoint; in fact this book exceeded my expectations. I even selected more like this option and I will be reading the rest of this series.

Leather and Lace. I got this book because of the title... (my husband and I danced to Stevie Nicks&Don Henley song 'Leather and Lace' on our wedding day) I am glad that I had this book. I loved everything about it! Sawyer and Mia were the best! They reminded me of how special love can be with that special person you spend your life with. Thank you for this amazing book.

Big, Bold and Delicious by Janice Owen. Big, Bald and Delicious! This is the first book in a 4 part series, but they are all stand alones, so no cliffhangers. We meet Mia, at the beginning of the book, when she is being a big prankster with her two besties, Bubba and Ugly Ross. I love her attitude and I felt like Ms. Evans brought the character fully to life. Mia has a sparkly and bubbly personality, but she is hiding from a bad relationship that we learn more about as the story goes on. Within the first couple of pages, she literally runs into Sawyer and the story really takes off from there. Due to Mia's past and the tales of an old family curse, she doesn't want to get involved with another man. But as an original descendent of the founding family, she ends up having to show him around the old buildings of their ghost town, as Sawyer is there to bid on restoring it. He is also running from an ugly past and a bad relationship, but he's looking forward to getting to know Mia better and sharing some hot nights with her. There's mystery on both sides of this story, which makes it a really fun read. When Mia's dangerous ex shows up in town, they both quickly learn that sometimes, you meet the right person for the long haul and it's time to take that leap of faith. I loved all the quirky characters and look forward to reading their stories as well. The next book features Bubba, so I'm looking forward to learning more about his singing and his story. It was ok. My expectations were higher after the first chapter. Mia had such spunk. That drive was lost to me until the end. I did love Sawyer. He had a huge heart. Actually Mia did too. She really loved the people in her life. There was just something missing in the story for me. Apparently others love the story, so I recommend you give it a try. Enjoy.

Loved It. I’ve never been much of a reader but I decided to start reading this book and I’d read a chapter or two a day. I would read the chapters aloud to whomever would listened (friends) and they loved listening to me read since I have a thick Mississippi accent (though now I live in Texas and even people in Texas find my accent amusing and say it’s like listening to Dolly Parton speak). My accent apparently drew in my listeners and made them wanting to know more about what was happening next with Sawyer Kane and Mia Sherman. I loved reading this and I’m starting the lonesome point book #2. I’ve been asked to record myself reading the book and post it on my social media but I decline on account of me thinking the author probably wouldn’t approve. I love the series thus far and look really forward to learning more about the lonesome point community! Another winner from Jessie Evans. Mia Sherman is a real firecracker. As owner of Lavender and Lace, Lonesome Point's answer to Victoria's Secret, she's busy selling sexy lingerie to tourists that come to visit her small town in Texas. Sawyer Kane is in town to make a bid to help renovate the ghost town that is part of Lonesome Point's history. When Mia and Sawyer meet, it's fireworks galore. It's hot and steamy from the get-go, and never lets up. Jessie Evans does small-town romance like nobody's business. Her characters are always unique, vivid, and likeable, and the communities that she paints are places that seem like home. In addition to Jessie's signature love story, 'Leather and Lace' brings intrigue and an old family 'curse,' as well as a loveable and zany group of supporting characters to the table (it doesn't hurt that Sawyer is a sizzling hot cowboy, either!). Jessie keeps upping her game, stepping out into multiple genres, hitting the mark every time. The Lonesome Point books are no exception, and I cannot wait to read the rest of the series. Five stars all the way!

Loved this book!. I'm not a professional writer of reviews by any means but it's one of the best books I've read in awhile! I could not read fast enough to find out how Mia and Sawyer make their life work out. Lots of good side stories too! Gram is the best with her tails of the family curse. I loved this book so much it's now almost 1am but I had to finish! I can't wait for book 2! You won't be sorry!

If not for the editing disaster, would have been 5 stars. After a collision and a kiss, sexy biker Sawyer sets his sights on Mia to keep him company while he’s inspecting a nearby ghost town for restoration. But Mia knows better than to trust a man who’s all looks and charm, and even though she wouldn’t mind a little fling, she’s got that curse to think about. The one that kills off any man who marries the first-born daughter of each new generation — within hours. Sure, she may not be looking for ring, but why tempt fate? But... Oh, holy comma overload! Seriously, I think there were more commas where they didn’t belong than where they were actually needed, and it made for a really weird reading experience. It’s hard for a story to really flow correctly when oddly-placed commas dictate random pauses mid-sentence with not enough sentence to follow. It’s like someone told the editor that the word “and” should never be used without a preceding comma, and I found myself having to go back and reread things each time, since they didn’t really make sense the first go round. An editor who knows the difference between dependent and independent clauses would make all the difference in the world. Judging Covers: The cover had me picturing a much different man, someone more cowboy and less biker, probably with more hair. I’m not saying that it’s a bad cover or really even misleading, just that I looked at it and expected something with more of a farm and ranch vibe than small town. So I guess in a way it was a pleasant surprise to meet a bald, Harley-riding mountain of a man instead of a typical romance novel cowboy. The Verdict: If the punctuation hadn’t been a disaster, I’d probably be giving Leather and Lace five stars — it really was a great story. Mia, unlike most romance novel characters who had a really awful experience in the past, didn’t let anything get in the way of having fun. From the opening scene to calling her grandmother “sugarbritches” to the permanent blanket fort, she seemed to enjoy everything about her small town life. She did, however, let the whole family curse thing control her dating life a little too much, but I can’t really say I blame her. I mean, history did prove a pattern, and that’s not a chance I imagine anyone would want to take on the man they decided to marry. Sawyer was pretty great, too. He was a big, strong guy who looked like he could take care of himself, but he wasn’t that stereotypical romance hero who’s constantly showing off his temper or his strength. And while it wasn’t exactly love at first sight with Mia, he was certainly intrigued enough not to give up the first time she turned him down for a date. In fact, he was incredibly thoughtful about it, talking first to one of her best friends to both show that he was a good guy and to find out if and how he might get her to give him a chance. Also unlike most romance stories, neither one of them was really interested in more than a fling, however long that might last, though they weren’t completely closed off to the possibility. But of course, just when things started looking long-term, the past came back in the worst way, and some (slight) angst ensued. But more fun was the way everything played out, including an unexpected twist in the aptly named ghost town. It was a great addition without being over-the-top, and it made the ending just as intriguing as the very first scene. Leather and Lace is a quick read, with a different spin on small-town life and romance, and if the weird comma placement won’t trip you up, it’s certainly worth the read. I just hope the next book in the series sees better editing, since I’d love to keep going.

Sexy!. I read Jessie's Wild Rush Series and I feel in love with her books. They are different. She adds just an element of mystery to this series that is have never read about before. It is sexy, sweet and add some mystery and that is what I need. This could be real people, in a real small country town with a crazy family history. Mia Sherman moved back to her small hometown as soon as she Graduate school. She needed her family more than ever so she moved back to the place she grew up, a place where her family is a legend. She is a wild one looking to have fun in this quiet town, it was not by sleeping around but by hanging out with her best friends and pulling pranks. She needed to let loose and on one of these types of nights she run right into a man she didn't see coming.... Sawyer didn't know if he would be in town for a few days, weeks or even months. He was there to consult on a job but once he met Mia he was intrigued and wanted to know more about her. So he now really wanted to get this job even if he was only going to be around for the summer...he was not looking for a relationship just some fun. Mia owns a lingerie shop in town and her Gram owns the Old Ghost Town that has been in her family for generations. The old ghost town has so many stories from family curses, ghosts and people that have gone through or settled there. When Mia hears these stories her whole life, she believes there is truth in them. Sawyer things they are very interesting and doesn't believe in them but when he gets more involved he knows there is truth to some of them. Mia and Sawyer go into this thinking it will be just a fling. But their chemistry is electric! Sawyer is a hot southern Boy and Mia is the strong southern gal. They get each other, they don't push too hard into what they are keeping in the past. Can they open up and let their walls down? Or will they just keep it to just being friends with benefits and move on? Will the stories of the past ruin their future? I lived this story! It is not just about being hot and heavy, there is so much more. A ghost town, mystery, A nutty Ex, awesome friends, a Tough Gram and a cute little girl. I can't wait to read about Saddles and Sins! Quotes: The more time she spent with him, the more his sexy, intelligent side begin to outweigh his intimidating, I-swagger-on-my-way-to-mount-my-Harley side. It was Sawyer Kane, looking good enough to sprinkle with salt, lick clean, and follow with a tequila chaser. "Don't worry, I'm going to give you everything you need."

Leather and Lace. A lot of good reading some slow parts that good have been left out. But a pretty good read

Pretty good. The characters feel very real. I enjoyed the story. The story has some very unbelievable scenarios. You can NOT make a living selling sexy underwear in a small town. Tulsi is a single mom who lives with her parents but can afford to stable horses and make a living giving lessons. As much fun as it sounded, no businesswoman could afford to take slow selling bras and run them up a flag pole. This is suppose to be fiction not fantasy.

Fantastic. This book has everything that you could want in a novel. Sexy book cover, hot cowboy biker, gorgeous lingerie shop owner, love, drama, humour, curses, throw in a ghost town and some thriller action and you have a winner!! I loved everything about this book from start to finish. It was full of the great writing that I always expect from Jessie Evans and she never fails to deliver. I can't wait for more in this series and to see more of Lonesome Point, Texas.

Mia and Sawyer. This is a great start to a new series. Mia is a fun mix of mischief, superstition and dependability. When she meets Sawyer she is determined not to fall for the hot, Harley riding cowboy who she thinks is just passing through town. These two just can't help but fall for each other, even though neither of them wants to risk another relationship after their past failures, but when Mia's past returns to haunt her Sawyer steps up and saves the day. Lots of laughs, a little mystery and a happy ending.

Meant to be. Great reading, just going to show don’t judge a book by its cover. Two people finding each other after horrific circumstances. Definitely a happy ever after.
