Read the bestseller everyone is talking about!

"A cleverly constructed suspense thriller." —Chicago Tribune, Printer's Row

"A twisty, roller coaster ride of a debut. Fans of Gone Girl will embrace this equally evocative tale." —Lisa Gardner, #1 New York Times bestselling author

"Riveting psychological thriller."—Lisa Scottoline, New York Times bestselling author on Don't You Cry

"I've been following her for the past few days. I know where she buys her groceries, where she has her dry cleaning done, where she works. I don't know the color of her eyes or what they look like when she's scared. But I will."

One night, Mia Dennett enters a bar to meet her on-again, off-again boyfriend. But when he doesn't show, she unwisely leaves with an enigmatic stranger. At first Colin Thatcher seems like a safe one-night stand. But following Colin home will turn out to be the worst mistake of Mia's life.

When Colin decides to hide Mia in a secluded cabin in rural Minnesota instead of delivering her to his employers, Mia's mother, Eve, and detective Gabe Hoffman will stop at nothing to find them. But no one could have predicted the emotional entanglements that eventually cause this family's world to shatter.

An addictively suspenseful and tautly written thriller, The Good Girl is a propulsive debut that reveals how even in the perfect family, nothing is as it seems.

A bizarre reading experience. I wanted to love this book. I sooooo did. The cover and the mysterious premise both drew me to it. The story itself, though, wasn't what I expected. The plot was predictable and I figured out how it would all play out pretty early on. That's not so bad, though. I predict things all the time and I could be right or I could be wrong. Usually, I don't care which it is, as long as the ride to getting to 'right' or 'wrong' is engaging and entertaining. With this book that wasn't the case. The multiple POV's were fine (love books with these, actually), but the timeline jumping didn't translate as well as I think the author thought/hoped it would. If anything it detracted from the story and made for a jilting, bizarre reading experience. I finished the book out of a sense of commitment. Not for any other reasons.

Not disappointed. I thought it was a great read and ending tugged a heart sing

Tukeegirl

Azgirl. Good book to read.

Amandax345

👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼. Great book!!! Good for fans of Gone Girl or Fresh!

TeeeDeee

Sorry I wasted my time reading this. One star is generous. The author is clearly a novice who fails to put her idea for the story into words that make a believable plot. And on top of that, it’s racist and filled with stereotypes and an anti-abortion message. This book is the opposite of sophisticated writing.

GlamGurl619

Awesomeness!. I really loved the way this book moved; past and present, but easy to maneuver. Such a different tale. A strange love story and the most amazing twist! Kudos to our author for keeping us entertained and on our toes until the last word, quite literally. I wish I could read it again!

Denisemg2

I could not put it down!. This is definitely one of my favorite reads. I finished it last week and I can't stop thinking about the ending! You must read it!!!

Morgw1996

LOVE IT!. It's so hard to find a good book these days, but this one went above and beyond. It was so great, I finished it in one day!

Apickens6789

Great read. I loved this book, read it in 2 days

Abbi A.

Predictable. I found this book hard to stick with at times. I felt like it got a bit long and drawn out. There's a lot of flash forwards and backwards and it started to seem like a poor attempt to replicate the genius that is Gone Girl. The "surprise ending" was far from a surprise. It was completely predictable. Overall by the time I was finished I was sorry I had stuck it out.

Linzzz-E

Probably my favorite novel. If there was ever a book I would love to read all over again without knowing the ending it would be this one. I loved it so much.

Great Read!. Best book I’ve read in a while!

AZWarrior

The Good Girl. Excellent! Quite a page turner! I couldn't put it down...

JPA311

Crazy twist!. Keeps you at the edge of your seat, falling in love with “the bad guy,” and the twist at the ends seals the deal for this to be a great read.

Mhh24**

Great read!. Couldn’t stop reading!

Djmagby

The Good Girl. This was very good reading. I didn't want to put it down once I got a few pages in. Well written and worth reading.

Carocross

Excellent. Kept me engaged. Loved the ending.

Mollietollie

Amazing. Was reallllllly good 😋

EGlenn3

Review. Interesting plot but a little slow at times. Easy read though! I enjoy the author’s writing style.

Oda Gene

Suspenseful. Liked it a lot but that last revelation was too much.

PWalker2014

Loved it. Didn’t think I’d like the back and forth of the storyline but it got me intrigued.

D.morganbarry

Amazing. MK at her best. A phenomenal read.

Lamppost48

Slow and slightly boring. I love Mary Kubicas work but this just didn’t do it for me there wasn’t a major thrill at any point and it just felt as though it dragged on for much longer than it needed to.

I love anyme

Kkkk. Awesome is all I can say

WillT6

Over development. One of those authors who is more interested in developing her characters than the story.

Kikyo93_

Don’t include characters of color if you will villainize them. I liked it I guess. But it was difficult to read past some things like the way people of color are portrayed. I don’t have a problem with the antagonist being a big black man but if all your characters of color are criminals who kidnapped an innocent blood woman. It just doesn’t sit right with me. This was awful. Just terrible

Joey24Stoke

The first book that ever made me cry!. What a thoroughly well written book. Full of surprises right until the very end. What a great delve into two complex characters that aren’t as different as they first seem. Brilliant.

•________________•

Huge plot twist.. It’s a really captivating story. This is one of the few books that I would do anything to be able to read for the first time again. Definitely going to buy the actual book so I can add to my collection. It’s worth the read, absolutely worth it.

Moving to Caviar

Sooooo a good!. I woke up in the middle of the night to keep reading. One of the best books this year!

Creatinedream

Awful. An extremely boring and pointless read. The characters are flat and unremarkable. You’d think that men only care about sex and guns from the way they’re written in this book. The plot twists can be seen from a mile away, this is coming from someone who rarely ever anticipates twists. Don’t waste your money or time.

Orbitnow

Page Turner. This book really kept me in suspense right up to the final page. It had a little of everything, intrigue, romance, nostalgia, hopefulness and reality. Well worth reading.

Rush babe

Less thrilling than paint drying. This book is nothing like Gone Girl! There was no suspense no thrills absolutely nothing! I kept reading just hoping for some excitement but it never developed. Don’t waste your time or money, this book is a boring account of day to day occurrences in the characters lives. Very boring

DekxIzxkx

Loved it!. Sooo good!!! Loved the ending, what a twist!!

Nandtg

Great read!. I enjoy the author’s writing style. She keeps you on the hook but it doesn’t feel like it drags on. I thought I had it figured out early on, (I was partly correct) until the very end!Probably my favorite by her thus far. On to her next one now!

CherryBerry

Absolutely mind boggling!!. This book was entertaining from the beginning, but if you read ALL the way through, your mind will be BLOWN. Instantly became a favorite. Highly recommend!!

Welshfam1

My top read of 2015. Wow! I just finished the entire book and I'm sad it's over. From start to finish it was an absolutely wonderful read. I loved it. A must read.

Brimarie119

Amazing. I loved this book. Very well written and very good ending. So hard to put down.

JustMeJessO

Couldn’t put it down. I enjoyed reading from the different character’s perspectives Before and After, while knowing somewhat of what was happening in the middle.

MS3011

Good Plot Twist. Good plot twist but the chapter headings and the back and forth was annoying.

CGray926

So goos. I really loved this book. The back and forth from different characters, the telling of the story from the past and future. She did a great job giving each of the characters their own voice. I really enjoyed this story and the little twist at the end.

Jlmroberson

A must read. You read from the perspective of three characters. Sometimes this becomes confusing, but not in this book. I loved getting to know them through their thoughts, experiences, and feelings. I read in a day. I had to know what happened!!!

TT_am

Great twist!. Great twist ending!

Rach11233356

The good girl. Would've liked to see Mia developed more. This book left me sad, but I really enjoyed it. Amazing how writing and getting inside a characters head can change the way you feel about them in the course of a novel! Definitely recommend.

Gettingolderaf

Amazing. Pulsar put it down. Finished it in about 12 hours.

With limited options in life it's good to create your own. The Good Girl was about Mia Dennett who was abducted. Detective Gabe Hoffman was assigned to investigate her abduction. The story centered around Mia's abduction while spooling together private personal information about Mia and Colin. Detective Hoffman was a great detective. Not only did he investigate with virtually no leads but he was able to unite people in an unexpected way. Gabe was a thoughtful and sincere man whose number one goal was to bring Mia home. Eve and Gabe were a team working side by side dissecting anything and everything related to Mia. Teaching is what Mia always wanted to do. She became an art teacher at a high school for high school dropouts. Mia moved away from home at eighteen not far from her place of employment. She visited home on the holidays limiting her conversations to a few times a year. She wasn't close to her parents. Mia was an independent teenager. In her teenage years Mia rebelled making a few bad choices along the way that James erased from her record. Mia was defiant, outspoken, and forthright. Everything James despised. Grace was Mia's older sister. James their father doted on her since Grace chose to become a lawyer. Eve was Mia and Grace's mother. She was a trophy wife who made sure James image was beautifully intact. Eve was quiet, polite, and submissive. James was a high profile judge who had a very public and political life. His life was about maintaining a professional upscale image to go along with his wealthy upbringing. James always brushed Mia's indiscretions under the rug to protect his image. James always worried about his reputation. James came from old money. Colin was a desperate man who grew up poor with limited options. He took care of his mother while trying to stay out of trouble. Normally a before and after timeline would frustrate and confuse me, yet I found the timeline was a great connector for transitioning the past with the present. They were locked together like a puzzle. For every chapter of information given about the past, the present was living right along side them simultaneously living the same timeline. The author did an amazing job molding these characters lives. The story was captivating and written well. The depiction of emotions was what kept me entranced in the story. The subtle disclosure of facts helped develop the characters while showing intent as well.

Wanted to like this. Seemed like a good choice, sort of dragged on and not the best ending.

IamPrincessBob

A great read. At first I was worried it would be difficult to follow the story with jumping back and forth in time, but that was fine. And the ending was very satisfying. Great first book!

Sylymax

Great story. Love the ending, what a twist!!!

Avery1200

The Good Girl. Twisted, in depth characters with a story line that is unpredictable! Enjoyed this read to the very end! Comparable with the best selling "Gone Girl"!

Nglgrl

Excellent!. Hooked me from the start, I couldn't put it down and for the first time in a long time, I didn't see the end coming!

The Good Girl. Excellent. Well written and hard to put down. A must read for those enjoying gone girl and the girl on the train

Turnm028

Not a Good Girl. This book was a huge waste of time. The ending is dumb and the story leaves several pieces unanswered. How could a girl hate her father so much to ruin his life? Terrible.

Forgetfuljj

Lives up to all the amazing reviews!. I roll my eyes every time I read a review saying this book or that is the next Gone Girl. It's an unfair comparison and almost always a letdown, until now. It's a different book then Gone Girl but it's just as awesome and just as smart and I can't wait to read her other book!

Moneyfornuthin

The Good Girl. Really liked this book. The author did a nice job of setting up characters. The "before" and "after" story telling kept it interesting. This book has a surprise ending that I didn't see coming!

Kjeb15719

Excellent!!!!. I read this book in 3 days. I could not put it down. I finished it an hour ago and I can't stop thinking about it. Wow!!! Suspenseful and heartbreaking.

DerbyBubbles

The Good Girl. Great read! I liked the way it was written, by telling the story using the main characters. It kept you guessing until the very end.

Rounaq D

Amazing ending!. Wow. I read this book in less than two days- it was so hard to put it down! Amazing ending. I can't wait to read "Pretty Baby" and whatever else Mary Kubica comes out with!

Yoyo .C.

Amazing!!. I love this book!! It was amazing and suspenseful!! If you love this author you'll sure love this book!!

Angelinag84

Truly captivating!. The kind of book that has you at the edge of the seat. I loved every minute of it.

Boopany

Terrible. I see this is in the top charts again and I honestly don't know how. It's not an interesting story and not well written. Don't waste your money. Insipid. Forgetful.

Kitygurl4

The Good Gitl. An interesting read. I would have liked to see the character of Mia more developed. It was difficult to buy the ending. A great idea for a story though.

Love twisted things

Cold, really cold. Maybe I should read this again, to understand why I didn't care about any of the characters. Nah.

Ginarwebb

Very very good!. This book is one of my favorite reads of the summer!! I would definitely recommend it to other readers...much better than Gone Girl or Luckiest Girl Alive...I think because it had more of a love story to it. Looking to reading other titles by this author.

Tgidra

Great read!. Really enjoyed this book! Easy read, well written. Would definitely recommend this book!

Wsandersws

Awful awful awful!. This has to be the worst book that I have ever read. If I could give it zero stars I would.

Wow'd

Page turner. Fun read and entertaining story!

Shadowmarie

Hard to put down. Great read, very engrossing mystery. Loved the different narratives by various characters, and the twist ending, which I did not see coming.

Imjazzed

Well done!. Well written, cleverly written, a great read. You will need a blanket!

Dale18wed

Excellent. Great read. Finished it in two days.

Chzill

Excellent book. Excellent book. Fast and suspenseful book. Loved how it was told from different perspectives.

Martagirl39

Interesting. That was a pretty good book. I liked how they kept switching from before and after. The ending was a bit predictable but I was quite far into the book before I suspected anything. Decent read.

CherryPieButterfly

Love, love, love. Couldn't put it down! This is a must read!!

Onlytemporary

Long wait for "climax". The story is a slow buildup to Mia's whereabouts. At times I found the story flat, with a continuous recollection of mundane events. Though it made sense for Mia's and Colin's narrative, the characters lacked a dimensionality that would have otherwise livened up the story. As for the "plot twist" I found it unrealistic that someone would go to such elaborate lengths. Even then I'm pretty sure Mia's behavior as described in Colin's POV did not reflect the truth of the reality.

Madiidaniellee

Amazing. Such an easy read, the author is definitely gifted! Took me about two days to read and I couldn't put the book down! Hopefully they'll make a movie!!

Crazymarlene

The Good Girl. I loved it. Read it in 3 days, suspenseful love story. I give it a top rating!!!!
