Absolutely incredible. Best thrilling mystery book I’ve read so far. The description doesn’t give the book half the credits it deserves. It was truly an amazing adventure. I will definitely be reading more by this author!

good book, looking forward to the series. Desecration is set in London in current time. It features Detective Sergeant Jamie Brooke. A murder takes place at The Hunterian Museum at the Royal College of Surgeons of England, and Jamie is called in to investigate. Jamie is dealing with a very tragic family situation, and filling her hours with work is a distraction that she needs to keep herself sane. J. F. Penn has a writing style that describes in great detail the murder and the crime scene of the Museum. The museum has quite a collection of bodies and body parts on display which can be unsettling for the faint of heart. J.F. Penn has obviously gone to a great deal of time in researching the locations for her books. I know she has been living in London for the past 4 years, and will soon be moving to another exotic location. As Jamie Brooke investigates the murder she comes across a Pharmaceutical company with questionable ethics. They seem to be doing controversial experiments. The company is owned by rich people with power and influence over local government and Scotland Yard. Jamie consults with Blake Daniel who gives her astonishing insight into the crime. Blake provides Jamie with clues and information she just can’t ignore. The book had a dramatic turn when Jamie’s own family is victimized by the Lyceum (a secret society of people who consider themselves to have the ultimate power of life and death). Jamie will do anything to protect someone she loves. Desecration was a good book to read and was suspenseful. I was able to get past the mental image of body parts in jars which were on display in the museum. There is no foul language and no sex scenes. There is murder and violence. J.F. Penn has an easy to read writing style, which provides great description and captures your attention. I look forward to the rest of the series to see what happens to Jamie and Blake next. I try not to give away any spoilers in my review, and feel that it’s the job of the author to describe and build up their characters. I received a free copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Desecration. A bit gory for my taste. The crazed malformed scientist is not a character I enjoy. There was a bit of paranormal thrown in to find labs where experiments and live dissections took place. Having a parent kill and dissect her own grown child was too unbelieveable.

Amazing!. I could not put this book down! It satisfied my love of a good thriller as well as a compelling human story. I will be reading the next books to find out what continues in Jamie’s life. I enjoy a thought provoking read- the correlation between the physical body and the essence of a person always causes furious debate in my own mind, but in this book I appreciated the differing aspects.

Fast paced thriller. Couldn’t put it down. Clear and intriguing characters. Fascinating story line.
