Love the adventure!. I was introduced to Stephen King by a very good friend, and the book was “Pet Cemetery”. I love the way Mr. King gets you hooked and you feel like you are one of the characters. Thank you Stephen King for all the adventures you have taken me on.

Couldn’t Put It Down. Smoothly written. I loved reading both sides of Hodges and the villain. Watching the two sides individual stories until they collided was an excellent way to tell the story.

You can’t put it down. Once you read this one you’re going to want to read the other two so don’t expect to just read this one and be done. Holy crap was it good. Literally from beginning to end.

Good But Not SK’s Best. Most of the interesting action occurs in the 1st 3rd of the story. Entertaining and unusual characters are unveiled in a “Cat and Mouse” theme and the roles are constantly reversing leading to page turning to find out what happens next. Once the major premise is revealed the book becomes more narrowly focused in somewhat of a computer/digital age struggle between the heroes and the villains.

Stunning. This book blew me away with its depth and brilliance in every sentence. The character development was very well thought out and carefully constructed. Very good read overall.

A Juggernaut. Starts slowly and picks up speed until you are barreling through it (like an out-of-control Mercedes?) Not like a traditional mystery in which you are on the detective's view throughout, here you see the plot unfolding from both the protagonist's and antagonist's view simultaneously, watching as events conspire to undo them both.

Awesome. Loved this book. Absolutely could not put it down. As usual with Stephen King, I felt like I was in the story and not just reading it. Anxious to read the rest of the series.

Boring. This has got to be the biggest waste of time I’ve ever read. It’s incredibly predictable, dragged out, and sounds like it was written by a twelve year old boy when it comes to detective Hodges and janey’s relationship. I was so bored while reading it that I resorted to skimming just so I could finish it.

Mr Mercedes. An excellent read! As only an occasional reader, I could hardly put this down while on vacation. I’m becoming a lover of SK’s work!!

Mr Mercedes. This book is one of Stephen King's usual unusual fascinating fantasies . I always feel so like An amazed 6 year old. I know it is fiction but I wonder "why"? As a psychiatrist I talk with people who are such good people who are not any different than us "normal" people . We all believe some things that if everyone knew we believed they would politely ask us to get in their car and take us to the the place my little Sis calls,"the bin"! Great story. King takes his time developing the characters. This story was like a roller coaster for me. The coaster climbs as King builds the characters and then it moves so fast you can’t stop reading and you don’t want it to stop. Great Story!

Mr Mercedes an unexpected good Ride,I mean Read.. Good detective murder mystery storytelling by the horror master. Pretty fast page turner. Good introduction and background for characters that appear in Holly( which I read first). King is so known for horror but this crime solving sleuth genre he seems very good at also.

Such an awesome read!!. Oh my goodness... this book was awesome. I had to stop multiple times just because I couldn’t handle what was about to happen. I seriously grew attached to the characters (the good ones) and loathed the bad ones. I just suggest you read this book. VERY well written. 👏🏼

Waste of time. Do not be fooled by the intro, that it the best part of the book; it only goes downhill from there. Very boring middle section with not much plot ending with the worst ending ever. I can't believe Stephen King wrote this... His worst I've ever read.

Good Chatacterizations. King builds these characters, albeit, none are super believable. This story is too long and loses steam. Will try next in the series to see if he tightens things up now that groundwork is laid -:knowing King though I doubt that will be the case.

This won an award?. You'll come away from this wondering if the old man still has it in him. Predictable and boring characters with a pretty straightforward beginning middle and end you'll wonder why you spent the time.

Just not good. Needlessly crass and vulgar (and I don't have virgin ears) in a way that's gratuitous and stupid rather than impactful or operative, which is what bothers me about it. Also it's a little too dark even for King. I think king has developed a strange obsession with a level of human ugliness that only exists in his own head. Used to be a huge fan of his work. Lately reading his stuff is like taking a trip down a very dark tunnel that's just too creepy and strange to be entertaining. Also you get his typical insertions of his left leaning politics and social opinions which are clearly not thought out which again leads me to believe that he lives in his own head and not in the real world where human life actually happens. Done with this book and done with the author.

Boring. Stopped reading, disliked all the characters

So exciting!!!!!. I finished reading this book at 1:30 a.m. and still can’t sleep after an hour so I’m here writing this review. LOVE those long and detailed background stories about main characters’ personality development, though I know many people might get bored reading them. The ending was awesome, I became so nervous and engaged after they break into Brady’s house lol.

An amazing opening to an amazing trilogy. This book changed my views of reading and made me realize that Mr. King dosnt need ghosts to create a terrifying antagonist all he needs is a normal person with a sick way of thinking

Still the King. This was first Stephen King book I’ve read in years. After taking a break from reading all together I picked back up and started with this book and was hooked from the first chapter. I just love his writing and while reading I remembered why I loved reading so much and didn’t realize how much I missed it. Now I’m hooked on books again lol.

Good read. My first non supernatural King book. I did enjoy it but I confess I was disturbed by the villains warped mind. I’m used to King’s evil menaces being actual monsters instead of monstrous people. I like them better when they are imaginary. Anyway the protagonist balances out the sane storyline well enough so as not to make me toss it into my trash bin. As a detective novel goes, it’s a good read. As a Stephen King book, mehhh.

Terrible Formatting. This review is for the terrible formatting by Apple. The chapters don’t line up with what’s being read. Seems an easy fix Apple is unwilling to make… several titles suffer the same problem.

Perfect. I loved it! As a current Detective myself, I loved the future snapshot of "Uncle" investigations. As always, Stephen hits the mark. It was another page turner. I'm exhausted but satisfied. He is a treasure. Thank you for another amazing work!

A great start to a thrilling series!. This is, in my opinion, as a huge Stephen King fan, a must read! I did not want to put it down. Bravo Mr. King! Thoroughly enjoyed this and the two others in the series!

One of my favourites I recommend it to everyone. I could not stop reading it once I started. My husband would have to force me to go to bed or I’d read all night. You are constantly on edge and ready for more.

stellar!!. King at his best. A Stellar piece of literature. King has a fine way of invoking emotions in readers that most authors can't. Fear, disgust, loathing and bewilderment. There are parts of this novel that could bring on cases of PTSD. A fantastic read that I would recommend to King fans and new readers a like. King has again shown that he can put a touch on any genre.

Very different. This book is so very different from any of his other writings. It was a page turner. It is an insight to the mind of a psychotic person, so in touch with the happenings of today.

Background about this book.... I did not purchase this on iBooks (got a good deal on a hard copy), but I recommend reading it regardless. There was an interview King attended and talked a little about how he got the idea for the book. He was in North Carolina when he saw a news report of a woman who drove into a crowd of people at a McDonald's over a relationship dispute. His immediate reaction, of course, was "Hmm, I want to write about this." Well worth your time to read this book!

Fabulous!. This is one of my absolute favorites of King. It only took one reading, yes I stayed up all night, but got so enthralled with the story. Read this.

Did not like it at all. This book started off strong and then petered out. Half way through, found myself skipping pages. Eventually, just skipped to the last chapter to see how it ended. I am a big fan of King but did not enjoy this book at all.

Stephen King does Koontz One Better. Dean Koontz should give Stephen King a small stipend for the rest of his life to pay him off for not stepping into the same genre. The Odd Thomas books would have been better written by King... In fact all of Koontz's books could use a little of the magic that Stephen King brings to Mr. Mercedes. If there are issues with the book, they are small; the title probably should have been Mr. Tastey; the character Holly could have used a little bit more John Coffey (Green Mile) and the villain could have been a touch less run-of-the-mill loony. But, all things considered, this is much closer to a simple murder mystery (ala John Sanford and his "prey" series) than what we have come to expect from our favorite horror/ fiction/ fantasy/ mystery/ supernatural writer. There is nothing that should keep a REAL Stephen King fan (faithful reader) from reading this book. It has most of your favorite elements from his stories and he even seems to reminisce a little bit toward the beginning of the book when he refers to "Cujo," "Christine" and "It" in a little self-mockery that I am surprised any editor let him keep in the book. I liked the book. It wasn't "Pet Cemetery" or even "Duma Key" and it certainly wasn't "It" or "Salem's Lot," but it was a good read that doesn't disappoint.

I didn't love it. Not the usual Stephen King. It was a run of the mill murder mystery. Those are a dime a dozen in the bookstore. We wait for mr. King's excellence. This one didn't deliver.

Only read this if.... ...you wanted to examine evidence of the need for Stephen King to retire. He resorts to a clichéd storyline with stereotypical characters; as if he is writing his first novel. I'm just amazed that a man who wrote "The Green Mile" could spew things like this.

A good read. I have never read a detective novel by Stephen King,so I cannot compare it to anything else. I thought that the plot was clever and inventive, but that his protagonist is no Sam Spade or Phillip Marlowe. What the book lacks is the terse dialogue that would make it a noir classic. Instead we get a lot of homey and pat witticisms Snappy comebacks could have made this more interesting

First Stephen King I have fully read.. This was an EXCELLENT book. I am not a reader, however; I decided to give this book a try, and holy hell. I was hooked. This was amazing. It wasn't scary, it was more of, wanting to know what's going to happen next, keeping you on your toes, with plenty of surprising twists. I full heartedly recommend. I am now pursuing other books by Stephen King, because of the this master piece.

Fast Paced....... A huge fan of Mr. King. He does not disappoint with this novel.......somewhat predictable at times, but highly entertaining. Highly recommend.

Forgettable. Not one of Mr. King's better turns. Solid premise is weighed down by cardboard characters and a story that staggers along thanks only to logical leaps powered by the author's flimsy grasp of technology. (Jerome's exposition-as-technology-lesson paragraphs are particularly embarrassing.) As a lifelong King fan I applaud the man working outside his comfort zone, but this was a regrettable outing. Hopefully Uncle Stevie's next piece sees a return to his horror, small town wheelhouse.

Amazing book. To keep it to the point, this book is definitely a must read if you're into crime/thrillers. This book left me feeling every emotion and even tear at one point. Thank you Stephen king for this, please make more books in this genre.

Wouldn't recommend. Getting tired of children involved in saving the day. Just too far out there to be even a little entertaining. Add to that, the other end of unlikely retiree hero and it is just disappointing.

I Miss The Characters Tremendously!. I enjoyed the book immensely. But now I feel myself missing Bill, Holly and Jerome - not in a weird way either. I've hundreds of books, probably more in the thousands (including almost everything Stephen King has a written, except those pesky westerns; I just can't wrap my head around those). I'm usually happily satisfied with each book's conclusion, and equally happy when I become engrossed in the next book I choose to read. But these 3 characters, your average, run-of-the-mill people, have stuck with me for some reason. I find myself wondering about what the future holds for each of them. This, I feel is the hallmark of a great author. Thank you Mr. King!

Loved it!. I haven't gotten into a King book in awhile. I really liked this book! I hope he continues with a series with the same characters. This was a nice surprise! Easy read and entertaining!

King always a treat. Glad to have both hardcover and iPad versions: the iPad for home, the hardcover for restaurants and waiting rooms. King has a typically long story wind-up. Which his readers have come to accept as part of the reading experience. Like a warm-up. We know second act developments and third act intensity are going to make up for it. But they don't here --- not quite. If there is a longstanding downfall of the author's weaker works, this is it (King's weaker works are better than most writers' best). Story construction puts him in a box so that there are only two outcomes. And we know the worst is not going to happen in a one-part novel. Also lead characters are inexplicably thrown off-track at a crucial point. Happy endings are good, but there was never a feeling of uh-oh, this could be it. It was mostly, no, Mr. King won't kill these characters at this point. Still, a must-have for King fans.

Another amazing book by Stephen King. Great book. I highly recommend you read this mystery thriller. I hope this book is created into a movie if so Liam nesson, if I spelled his last name right, the father from taken, should be Detective Hodges.

Bad Book. I hated this book so much

Another Great Book By A Master Storyteller. Stephen King never fails to provide detailed characters in realistic environments. I am and will always be a fan. Mr. King grabs you from the first chapter and carries you along through the last page. The only downside is waiting for his next book. He is a master at his craft and this is another example of his skill. Thank you Mr. King for sharing your stories with the rest of us.

Amazing. King does it again. This book is hard to put down and is simply amazing!

Love it. A crime story, but with a twist of Kings awesomely twisted mind. Our "perk" is a mess, a brilliant mess, and I love the band (ka-tet?) of misfit heroes chasing him. Couldn't put it down, and the chill down my spine at the end was perfect.

Read in one day. This book was very exciting. I'm so glad it was not too long, because I was able to read it in one day. I like the way King wrote this book because it allows you to see the perspective of all the characters in the book. I especially like to read about his protagonists, who happen to be in their more mature stage of life. This helps me empathize a little more with my Mom and my Aunt. Nonetheless, I have to say, after having just read Duma Key, this book pales in comparison. It wasn't as emotional or drawn out as Duma Key. It was still a good read though.

Waste of money. Everything about this story rings so false it should be included in his supernatural genre. From the fat, ugly and old cop having an affair with a much younger, attractive and rich woman, to the outrageously ridiculous handling of the murderer/terrorist by fatso and the concert security...well... I would find aliens or ghosts more believable.

Upsetting. ...upsetting because this book made me stay up way past my bedtime on numerous night because I, "LITERALLY" could not put it down. There were times I wished I could read faster, my eyes didn't move fast enough. This is classic King at his finest. Back to classic, gritty, nail-biting storytelling. I freakin' LOVED it, if you're even an amateur King fan I'm sure you won't be able to put it down.

Where’s the book?. Apple wasted no time charging my credit card for this book……now if it would actually download. One star review for the entire process of paying for something I didn’t get.

Loved it!. King writes a great modern cat and mouse story of an aged ret. det. up against a young deranged momma's boy. He tells the story from both points of view, so you really get to know how they both think.... It touches on many current issues such as terrorism, security, and how one may become a potential murderer. It reminded me of the boston bombings and even more so the newton shootings.... As always King touches on these issues head on and respectfully.... I highly recommend and look forward the next book "finders keepers" I could not put the book down!

Mystery/action/terrorist/insane. The above about sums up what's happening. Add in the usual characters in this genre, mix in a little Stephen King magic, and out comes an enjoyable page turning read which earns it my four stars.
