Better than the first!. The first was absolutely amazing, so imagine how good this one is! ;) i had a book hangover after this that if it weren’t for the third May have died if boredom. Hope that summarizes how STORMING perfect this book is.

Amazing. This is literally the best book I’ve ever read

Irresistible characters. Once again I found myself late at night wondering when Shallan and Kaladin would discover themselves, would Dalinar succeed, … I may have to take a break before the next one in the series so i can get some sleep.

Honestly iconic. In this large, epic series that is the Stormlight archive, the journey of each character is so real and heartbreaking and beautiful. This book has so many incredible scenes and the world is so immersive and unique. I honestly can’t say much else without spoilers, but if you decide to pick up this book you will not be disappointed.

Stunning sequel!. In THE WAY OF KINGS, we got to see some of Kaladin’s backstory, and we get to see Shallan’s in this book! We also get to meet Lift, who is my second-favorite character! (Kaladin is still my #1.) We get explore the world’s magic a bit more, which is always fun. “I am a stick.” We get to see the night Gavilar was killed from a different point of view. We get an awesome fight scene! “Honor is dead, but I’ll see what I can do.” Great second book; I devoured it! Not to be missed! (Oh yeah, and there’s a cool sword at the end. I mean the very end. Like, end of the last chapter. A VERY cool sword. Don’t miss it!)

A truly imaginative body of work!. I happened to stumble upon my first book, Way of the Kings and have since just finished Words of Radiance! Both of these books have renewed my love of reading, my love of magic and its possibilities. An incredible journey through a world that continues to amaze. The way in which characters were developed is mind boggling, how each level of joy mixed with pain mixed with acceptance has created an immediate bond to each character through their journey. The journey is exciting and thrilling, a non-stop ride unbridled creativity. I dare not compare these writings to any other series of books similar for fear of downplaying the sheer genius of this body of work. This is what writers dream of writing. If it were possibly I would certainly be seeing Inspirationspren right now! I look forward to the next book the Oathbringer.

Couldn’t stop reading.... It took a bit to spin up, but then I could not stop reading. Epic follow-up to way of kings, with some closure on a few threads.

Fantastic. This is a fantastic work, by a master story teller and wordsmith. My only knock against it is it can be frustrating when POV changes at a cliffhanger. That is just personal preference, and truly speaks to how immersive these blended stories are.

Perfection. I mean if there’s a book and series to get totally lost in, this is it. Just what I was hoping to find in quarantine and the characters and story are perfection.

Not as good as the first. A step backwards from the first. I spent too much time skipping/skimming chapters in this one. Often Sanderson gets too fond of his own cleverness and it really weighs down the book. Also, his editor most have told him to put in more chapters for women. This also was the downfall of the wheel of time books. Finally, I hate the pretentious trend of putting proverbs/poems at the beginning of each chapter. Please stop.

Just too good to put down!. Every chapter that Bounces from one character to the next makes you read 100 more pages just to get back to where it left off, except you feel this way with every character. So amazing!

Favorite series. I loved the Stormlight Archive series. It was nothing like I've read before. Sanderson takes you to a new intriguing land. It is easy to connect with his characters and the plot keeps you on your toes encountering new surprises at every turn.

Incredible book (end changed? Noticed 8/24/15?). Absolutely fantastic plot building, and the characters are very real, believable people. More importantly, they don't really follow normal trends, they are refreshingly new, unique. Love it so much that I reread it often, just to relive the story and notice tidbits I didn't before...but this read through (8/24/15) I noticed a different ending to the battle with Szeth? Am I crazy or does anyone else see that..?

Great Storyline. The Stormlight Archive are dangerous for readers like me, because you can’t put them down when you start, and they aren’t small. These are some of the best books (maybe THE best) I have ever read. They are my absolute favorite series, with great action, mystery, and comedy throughout the the whole of it. The story is well rounded with different characters, mini side stories that actually have something to do with the story that also help explain things, and is very entertaining. Keep it up Brandon!

Amazing. This novel along with the other books in the Stormlight archive is magnificently captivating, and impossibly complex. I love all of Brandon’s books that are within the Cosmere!

Engrossing tale. Very well written, even if occasionally there are references that are not explained well. Interesting story in a different world, one which is depicted clearly by the author.

Awesome!. The way of kings and this book are two of my all-time favorites. Do yourself a favor and read them! God I hope there’s a movie or an HBO series on the Stormlight Chronicles. Great stuff.

Fantasy Masterpiece. Clearly authorspren are circling around Brandon Sanderson’s head! This is one of the finest examples of fantasy fiction I have ever read. I’m not a witches-and-fairies kind of guy. I prefer my science fiction to be more hard science and I like my fantasy fiction to be deep and intriguing and consistent. The story is hugely compelling and Sanderson’s ability to paint a picture with words is unparalleled. I cannot beg Mr Sanderson enough to complete another book in this fascinating story.

Not looking forward to the 3rd. I couldn’t put this one down, read it through a long weekend. I’ve been very unproductive since starting it, and had to finish it so I could get back to work.

It’s a slog, but still pretty good. I don’t want to attempt to summarize this book in just a few words, since Sanderson has invented a seriously diverse and complex universe. Mostly, I want to ask if there are ever any editors involved in his process. I have read four of his books now. Each one has had the same issue: the first 80% (and he does not write short novels) will be Sanderson setting up about a million dominoes, many of them with similar names and motives. About the time that you may want to just give up, he knocks over the leading domino, and for the rest of the (many) pages, all hell will break loose. As he works to wrap up the story, which is always just one loooong chapter in an almost endless story, you will be forced to admit that this guy can write! Why isn’t there an editor demanding that he apply some discipline to the first 80%? The good news is that this book is an improvement over the first entry in this saga. The bad news is that he might need TEN books to tell his story. Yikes.

just amazing. i can honestly say that this is one of the best books i've ever read, the world building and character development is perfect, you start to like them and start thinking in terms of their world almost without realizing it. you know it's good when you wish an 1000 plus page book was longer. great book, would recommend to anyone and excited for oathbringer later this year.

Beautiful Buildup to Something Amazing. I love this book with all my heart, the twists and turns along with the masterful storytelling and character development will lead to it's one-day classical status. I plan to read it again in the future!

High fantasy. I don't know how he does it. High fantasy always has pitfalls that are common to the genre, and this book (series) doesn't really avoid them all. And yet... I'm still greedy for more. Sanderson just has a natural talent for conveying a sense of hope and heroism, even to cynical b****ds like me. He really gets to you on an emotional level. To neg a little, I could cut out a large portion of non-Kaladin content and still be happy. This doesn't have to be as dense as it is. Nevertheless, 5 stars!

Bravo Sir. Always a pleasure to read Sanderson's material, whether it's his children's books or stormlight archive. My jealousy over his incredible writing skills and depth of imagination do not come close to tarnishing the experience of another well written and page turning adventure. It is refreshing to have heroes whose powers are not unlimited and have those same powers have logical and scientific boundaries. I cannot wait for the next book in the series if only because I care so deeply for each of the main characters. Read this book (if you have read Way of Kings first, of course)!

Amazing Book. I just finished this book and it was fantastic. One of the best fantasy books I have ever read! I highly recommend it. The only problem is the wait for the next book.

Words of Radiance. Sanderson builds on his new series by sharing the main characters’ transformations, introducing future plot lines, and delivering top-notch story telling. It’s rare that I want to immediately reread a book, but there’s so much great stuff going on in this ‘episode’ that it warranted an immediate reread. Highly recommended!

Amazing. The second book in the Stormlight series by Brandon Sanderson does not disappoint. Full of twists and surprises, it keeps you engaged to the last page. Sanderson's use of language is astounding in painting imagery.

Love it. Originally found Sanderson via his work on the Wheel of Time series and liked how he did that. Then read Mistborn books and really enjoyed his unique style of new ways to approach magic in stories. This series does the same. Some think first book starts slow, but when you consider this is going to be a long epic series, I enjoyed all of first 2 books. Characters have depth, but the story carries you along. You may walk a different path for short times, or drop into the past for more depth but you always end up right back on the main path! Now I have to suffer waiting for the next book!!

Just check out the simple. But before you read the sample grab the first book as it's currently a free download from Apple. After you finish the first book you will be eager to read this book and from the sample you'll see it's worth your time to read this book. If I do have any issue with the book its not with the author rather it's the cost on iBooks! After all it's only seven bucks cheaper then the hard cover! Apple needs to pay attention to other vendors because why should I pay then thirteen bucks when I can read it for less then five on the Kindle iOS app?

Masterful storytelling. This book left me completely satisfied. A welcome treat after waiting four years (almost) for the next book in the Stormlight archive to be published. You become more attached to the character obviously, since it's a Brandon Sanderson book of coarse you're going to get attached to the characters. That's what you sign up for when reading one of his books. Others, very few, complained about the slow pace. If you haven't. Priced, this is an epic fantasy series, with stories and plots on a scale not found in your twilight books. If you do not value storytelling and world building, or value any kind of pay off after building anticipation, then please do not read t please give yourself the treat of a book that this is.

Challenges a Game of Thrones. There are not enough superlatives to recommend this series. Sanderson is the next Frank Herbert/JRR Tolkien and the equal of Anderson, Martin and Rothfuss. The writing is intelligent and is a great companion to the captivating story-telling style. Character development is consistent and believable and leaves you wanting more. Additionally, unlike a lot within this genre, the plot is not telegraphed at the outset. The twists, turns and surprises are well paced and placed but not overdone. The potential for the rest of the series is limitless. Ideally , Bran will write faster than Martin.

Been a long time since this happened.... When I was thirteen years old my father handed me the first book in the 'Wheel of Time' and asked me to read it. During my childhood, I struggled with reading. I was in the bottom end classes of the education system (reading wise). After finishing that book it stoked my reading appetite which eventually became voracious. In a short time, I found myself reading at an unparalleled level above my peers . This is poignant because prior to the first book in this series, I've not found something that has gripped my attention so assuredly as Robert Jordan did in the dawn of my reading exploration. I'm thirty four now and married with a child. When I picked up The Way of Kings I was literally not able to put it down. My wife, who is very patient with me, suffered through the first book followed quickly there after by the second book (I read the first book with the release of the new iPhone). I've since been pushing this series, and Sanderson, on anyone that will listen to me. This series is not Joe Ambercombie or Patrick Rothfuss. Although it shares very similar qualities to those amazing authors, Sanderson has broken out as, in my opinion, the predominant fantasy write of our time. I've not felt this attached to characters and compelled by a story since Robert Jordan's 'Lord of Chaos'. Do yourself a favor and read this book. Immediately. You will loose sleep, have your significant others ire, and neglect simple things but you will, for all things, have read the most amazing work of modern fantasy literature that exists today.

Holy mother of The Almighty.... Amazing! AMAZING! This book is... Flat out amazing. I cannot find too many words to describe this book. It is like comparing an N64 and a computer. It kept my attention, page after page. Worth reading again!

Words of Radiance. A broad, deep and satisfying exploration of an alternative time and world, teeming with interesting and powerful characters. It's always exciting to be along for the journey when characters we come to know and care about discover their own unique gifts. One of the best books of its kind that I've ever read.

Engrossing. While starting a bit disjointed, the story quickly became a definite page turner. Good character development makes one feel like they know each character personally. The only negative is I now have to wait for the next installment.

Hollywood movie: Catherine Zeta Jones as Navani, Angelina Jolie as Jasnah, Scarlett Johansson as Shallan, Pierce Brosnan or Daniel Craig as Dalinar, Matt Bomer as Kaladin.

Great Book and Ending. The book was an awesome read. I especially loved the interludes which lead you away from the main story line to only drag you back in. I especially enjoyed the ending with the stab in the eye and bringing back my favorite light-eyed women. Kept me reading and that's saying a lot.

Words of radiance - a good read. You have to read both the Way of Kings and the Words of Radiance to understand the culture and feudal nature of Roshar. While the light eyes seem to be the administrators and soldiers and the dark eyes are the workers and second-class citizens. There is another underlying culture, the Parshendi, that threatens the world of Dalinar, Adolin, Shallan, and Kalidin. This third messianic force bonds the light and dark eyes and awakens the Knights Radiant, the saviors, that are awaken when Roshar begins to crumble. If you enjoy Brandon Sanderson's work, you will enjoy this one too.
