wonder. amazing fantasy of the history of a world technically not so much different than ours, written in a way and read in a way as if you are a pupil in a history class reading your professors text

It was ok. It could have advanced the story but it didn't. I felt I knew most of this. HBO puts together stories after each years series is over that tell you the same thing as what was contained in this book. If you really want to know how the Game Of Thrones is going to end or the direction it is likely to take I would advise you to read The Wheel Of Time series. I can see from the series how Martin will take the series. I did make the connection from this book that Gareth Greenhand is the Green Man in TWOT and that the Naathi are the Tuatha'an as I hadn't made those connections before. Don't google the characters from TWOT if you haven't read the GOT books because you could get spoilers. The 2 that I mentioned don't give away anything much to the story as I see it.

Best books ever. I can't wait until the new book comes out. I have been going crazy waiting for the next book to come out. I have read all the song and ice books love it I even have the game for PS3. Keep up the good work you are one hell of a writer !!!!

“The World of Ice & Fire.. Boooring! Oh for pity's sake.... This was like reading the dictionary upside down and backwards. I thought at some point it was going to take up with the story.... So I dragged my self through it. It's like the most monotonous textbook you were ever assigned to read in high school. Oh George ---you stole my money this time$$!. I might have wanted to visit all this information After the whole story was told... But do we really need it to enjoy the next book??I hope not. Not the STORY I was hoping for.. Really disappointed

I already have the book!. I have already purchased the actual book. Spent $50 on the giant, beautiful thing! But I want the app as well, easier to navigate through it. There should've been a code or something printed in the book which would allow me to get the app for free. Thats my only complaint. Otherwise, LOVE. The maps are so fascinating.

Great Back Stories. Get a better understanding of the history and world of Westeros.

Good but bugged. It's a really fascinating read but has some series loading issues you'll get to sections of the story with hundreds of blank pages followed by a crash and this can continue for days before finally loading

Great book to read b4 bed. Good infurmation and expanded on lord of te ring lore.

The World of Ice & Fire. Amazing. It's great to have a history of the seven kingdoms and beyond. This book goes into extensive detail and history but has very little information about current characters that we've been following in the other books. It certainly helps provide a better understanding of the current state of affairs in Westeros and how some of the other areas (Dorne, Free Cities etc) fit into Game of Thrones. Personally, I believe knowing the history makes it more interesting and I'm in awe that this much background was made available to readers. I find it staggering that so much work has gone into these books and the amount of careful detail that George RR Martin has put into them is unbelievable.

Fools. I made this book for all my impatient fans so that I can just piss them off! Ha!

My opinion. A lot to take it but a lot of good backstory. I know the series is fiction but I like fiction series where they add in various back stories or history to help the story

The perfect book to keep us occupied until Winds of Winter is released. Beautifully illustrated, with stories mentioned in A Song of Ice and Fire and Game of Thrones, ranging from the early history to the Targaryen kings and the history of the lands and houses, this book is perfect for the ASOIAF fan. Currently I'm reading about the Targaryen kings from Aegon the Conqueror to the Mad King, and each story is interesting from start to finish. Each piece of history is so good I feel like the creators of Game of Thrones have the perfect basis for a prequel series. David Benioff and D.B Weiss, when Game of Thrones, make this a series in itself!
