Enjoyed it. I wasn’t sure at first, then wound up enjoying the characters and story lines as much as I always do with Elgin’s books.
Soap opera relationship drama done tastefully. This is a great summer read. There is a lot of relationship drama, so this might bother some people. The descriptions of home decor, Nantucket scenery and fabulous food are wonderful as usual.
Fluffy, skimmable. fluffy, sometimes entertaining sometimes have to skim.
The perfect Summer weekend on Nantucket!!. Hollis Shaw may have curated the perfect five-star weekend for her friends but Elin Hilderbrand has curated a stunning masterpiece that is filled with all the colors of the rainbow, delicious food to entice your palate and beautiful music that holds special memories for Hollis and her stars. Drama filled every page of this scintillating beach read and I must admit that I read “The Five-Star Weekend” twice and went through it again, highlighting my favorite passages, along with decorating tips and the scrumptious weekend menus. The charcuterie board was a five-star array of delectable delights and I am sure that every hostess will be clamoring for the recipe for the Bacon/Rosemary Pecans. What stood out to me the most was the attention to detail given to every aspect of the weekend. Every guest room was meticulously decorated, Hollis’s table settings were carefully coordinated and their days and nights were filled with all that Nantucket had to offer. Friendships come and go and Hollis was lucky to have women who were there for her at different times in her life. She put aside her grief and embraced life as she welcomed her friends, old and new, to celebrate the summer with laughter and tears as they made new memories they would cherish forever. The island was a hotbed of speculation and wonder as to what was really going on at First Light, Hollis’s magical home, and as with all the women on Nantucket who were hoping for glimpses of Hollis and her friends, I too, would have loved to have been on the guest list for “The Five-Star Weekend.”

Great Read!. By far, one of my favorite books from this author. Characters were well written. Yes, I could see the twist coming, but it was amazingly told. I couldn’t put it down.
Another summer love!!!. EH is sooooooo good!!! I look forward to each new book and this one did not fail! The story is delightful in every way! The characters are fun and quirky and a lot like people we all have in our lives. Friendship is a theme EH knows and writes to perfection.

Awesome. A perfect blend of great character development and great timing of the character development, interwoven with a great assortment of wonderful food recipes, therefore a wonderful mix of fiction and nonfiction.
Worth the wait!. So sad I already finished it! As always, Elin’s descriptions of the characters, Nantucket, and the food truly transport you. This is one of my favorite books I have read in a while. It makes you contemplate the important relationships in life and helps you stop and remember that everyone is going through something. It also makes you crave lobster rolls and a beer on the beach. A perfect summer read.

Elin Hilderbrand is an American writer, mostly of romance novels. Her novels are typically set on and around Nantucket Island, where she resides. In 2019, New York Magazine called Hilderbrand "the queen of beach reads". Biography Hilderbrand was born and raised in Collegeville, Pennsylvania, is a graduate of Johns Hopkins University, and was previously a teaching/writing fellow at the University of Iowa Writers' Workshop. She spent her summers on Cape Cod, "playing touch football at low tide, collecting sea glass, digging pools for hermit crabs, swimming out to the wooden raft off shore," until her father died in a plane crash when she was sixteen.
