So good!. Finally we get to Lord Lucien Westbrook HEA. Lucien has been in all the previous books in the series, as the supposed owner of the Phoenix Club. His hand was somewhat in all the matchmaking with his family and friends that are all apart of his life. He is happy as a bachelor with no plans of marriage, but crossing paths with his brother in law’s sister has him in a situation he never thought to be in. Miss Kathleen Shaughnessy is a bit different than the normal. Very inquisitive, doesn’t believe in fake people, tells it like it is and is easily overwhelmed in crowds. She decided to continue her research in mating rituals of the human kind after exhausting her studies of animal mating rituals. Also being sent to London after her experiment kissing a man was observed and caused the gossips to shred her reputation. She decides Lucien would be perfect! There are many secrets that come out, so I will not go into the details. Love the way the previous couples all support Lucien with little flashbacks to their own HEA. One really must read the entire series or you will miss out. The way the author portrays Kat and her Autism was fantastic, everyone is effected differently but she really wrote that character well. Not very impressed.. I was completely turned off by the color descriptive each time a new character was introduced. We know the colonizers were all white so it was so unnecessary!

Great Conclusion to the Series. I have really enjoyed this series, and Lucien’s story is my favorite. Lucien Westbrook has helped people with all kinds of problems since his return to England. That includes a few fairly successful match-making attempts. Now it is Lucien’s turn. His opportunity for happily ever after comes in the form of Miss Kathleen Shaughnessy, the feisty very curious younger sister of his brother-in-law. The attraction between these two is magnetic, and chemistry sizzling. Try as he may, Lucien is about to learn that some things cannot be resisted (at least indefinitely). There is trouble at the club, and a mystery as to exactly who is causing it. Lucien is a thoughtful, helpful, gentleman, and reformed rake. Kat is absolutely adorable, and determined to learn about mating habits, of any and all species. She keeps Lucien on his toes. This is the last story in a wonderfully fun and entertaining series. Lucien & Kat. Lord Lucien Westbrook is known for helping others. He is the owner of the Phoenix Club, at least that is what everyone thinks. He is only part owner, the Foreign Office owns the majority. The Foreign Office uses the club for secret assignations. After a scandal erupts at Lucien’s club, he is asked by the Foreign Office to resign from his position at the club. Lucien is in a fight for ownership of his club and maybe even his life. Kathleen Shaughnessy is the sister of Ruark, Earl of Wexford. Kat was sent to London to avoid a scandal after she was seen kissing a gentleman in Gloucestershire. She is researching mating rituals. She asks Lucien to find a rogue who she can assist in her research. Lucien refuses but is intrigued by Kat. He realizes what a hypocrite he was regarding Ruark’s unusual courtship of his sister Cass. Lucien is falling in the same trap as Ruark regarding his feelings and attraction to Kat. Lucien finding himself in the same predicament as Ruark and Cass was quite amusing. Lucien cannot believe the roles are reversed and now he is infatuated with his friend’s sister. Ruark’s reaction when he finds out about Lucien and Kat is priceless. Lucien is my favorite character of the series. I could not wait for his story. Lucien is the epitome of handsome rogue who cares about his friends and family. He will do whatever it takes to protect them. Lucien is very compassionate toward Kat’s issues. He is kind and patient. Together they have a passion that consumes them. Lucien is the perfect lover and soulmate for Kat. Lucien cannot stop thinking about Kat. They have some intense and steamy scenes together. They are hot together! This story has mystery and intrigue to keep you on the edge of your seat. Lucien and Dougal must investigate the murder of one of the Foreign Office’s spies to clear Lucien of any wrongdoing. Kat wants to stop being selfish and focus on someone else’s problems. She decides to help Lucien buyout the owners of the Phoenix Club. Unfortunately she asks the wrong person for help and finds herself in trouble. Will Kat be able to escape from the traitor before it is too late? Can Lucien rescue Kat in time? This is the eighth and final book in the Phoenix Club series. I enjoyed Lucien’s story immensely. I am sorry to see this series end. I also did not understand why the author kept stating each character’s race. She did not do this in previous books. Overall the series was wonderful! Insatiable. I’ve enjoyed this whole series so much. This last book finishes it off nicely. After Kat gets Lucien to help her with her studies they soon find out they don’t like to be apart. Great romance with some mystery tied in.

Lucien’s story. Lucien finally gets his story… It was time for Lucien to get his own story. There’s scandal at the club (Evie and Lucien) and Lucien is trying to take control back from the foreign office. Lucien is different and likes to help people, though he’s a bit shady, too (the war and the cover up). Kathleen is his friends sister who is a breath of fresh air. She’s scientifically minded and wants to study up close and personal, the mating habits of the marriage mart. She’s open minded and interesting and not missish at all. Kat is the perfect foil for Lucien. Steamy research must ensue. Recommend.

Eh... I have loved all of the books in this series, but this has sadly been my least favorite. I had a very hard time liking Kat, by the time I could tolerate her the book was 70% over. I really wanted to love this book because Lucien deserves love, but the connection just didn’t ever feel right to me. I saw on Facebook this won’t be the last book in the series. I really hope to enjoy the next one more and I’m looking forward to it!
