The reader feels punished. This book had more mazes than a 10,000 acre farm. The title fit the book bc this Duke lived to be punished, to be hurt, to he betrayed, to be drugged; you name the pain he lived for it. And loved the woman who did it. Not once did she treat him right, or be honest, or explain her reasoning; she even exhorted money from him. This should have more a novella. Just plain drivel.
Not that good. I like all the books of Sarah Maclean and I was waithing for Tample story but I fell that this book is not that good .i still give her 5 stars. I'm hopping that Chase story will be better.
Not her best :(. This is one of my favorite authors but this story fell flat for me. Normally, I can't put her books down but I felt like I had to push myself to get through this one. Hopefully the next one will be better!
Could of, should of, been the best!. I was expecting the best love story saved for Temple, but was very disappointed. The repetition got the best of "could have been a great book".
FANTASTIC!!!. One of the best historical romances I have read in a very very long time. Mara and Temples love story is full of pain and sorrow but also a deep and forever kind of love. From the first page to the last I was pulled in and felt every high and every low the heroine and hero felt. Please Sarah Maclean keep these historical romances coming. Cannot wait for Chases story!!!

Beautifully written and read with love. Her best novel ever. I could analyze characters and plot but I won't. Just read this...it restores my belief that the romance novel is an under appreciated genre...
