Return to the world of FIREFLY LANE—now a Netflix series—from #1 New York Times bestselling author Kristin Hannah.

Once, a long time ago, I walked down a night-darkened road called Firefly Lane, all alone, on the worst night of my life, and I found a kindred spirit. That was our beginning. More than thirty years ago. TullyandKate. You and me against the world. Best friends forever. But stories end, don't they? You lose the people you love and you have to find a way to go on. . . .

Tully Hart has always been larger than life, a woman fueled by big dreams and driven by memories of a painful past. She thinks she can overcome anything until her best friend, Kate Ryan, dies. Tully tries to fulfill her deathbed promise to Kate--to be there for Kate's children--but Tully knows nothing about family or motherhood or taking care of people.

Sixteen-year-old Marah Ryan is devastated by her mother's death. Her father, Johnny, strives to hold the family together, but even with his best efforts, Marah becomes unreachable in her grief. Nothing and no one seems to matter to her . . . until she falls in love with a young man who makes her smile again and leads her into his dangerous, shadowy world.

Dorothy Hart--the woman who once called herself Cloud--is at the center of Tully's tragic past. She repeatedly abandoned her daughter, Tully, as a child, but now she comes back, drawn to her daughter's side at a time when Tully is most alone. At long last, Dorothy must face her darkest fear: Only by revealing the ugly secrets of her past can she hope to become the mother her daughter needs.

A single, tragic choice and a middle-of-the-night phone call will bring these women together and set them on a poignant, powerful journey of redemption. Each has lost her way, and they will need each one another--and maybe a miracle--to transform their lives.

An emotionally complex, heart-wrenching novel about love, motherhood, loss, and new beginnings, Fly Away reminds us that where there is life, there is hope, and where there is love, there is forgiveness. Told with her trademark powerful storytelling and illuminating prose, Kristin Hannah reveals why she is one of the most beloved writers of our day.

Such a touching story of love, loss and friendships that never die!. I loved the characters and the setting.

Fly Away. I waited awhile for the sequel to Firefly Lane and wasn't disappointed... So glad to visit with Tully & Kate again :)

Chinakessler

Fly Away. This book, along with its companion book Firefly Lane, are rich in every way. The story draws you in and the characters are skillfully brought to life. I could not put either book down! Make sure you read Firefly Lane first!

Mercy924

Better than the first !. Loved "Firefly Lane"..... But this was even better ! The story & characters were so real....I was hooked.

Fly Away. I'd love to write a review but the book has not downloaded onto my iPad over these last several hours. I'm not sure where I should go, what I should do, or whom to contact. Any ideas? Lyn

Well written about sensitive subjects. A compelling story about the intricacies of family and friends who live life with difficulties that may very well mirror our own lives in some respects.

Rough middle but good overall.. This book was a little tough to stick with, but I love the author so I really wanted to finish it. It was much darker than Firefly Lane, but I guess that’s life. It’s not all sunshine and rainbows! Now which Kristin Hannah book to read next?

Jhennis

Great sequel. This book was so well written, just like Firefly Lane. I'm so glad to see how the characters ended up. I finished this in one day, a must read!!

Wonderful Story. Writing is beautiful…..wonderful story!

SeaGirl56

Fly Away. This book is one of Kristin Hannah's best! She has a way of weaving a story like a fine tapestry. She delves into the deep dark emotions and the honest trials of relationships and love. This book really touched home and helped to release some suppressed memories and emotions. Can't wait for her next book!

Sooooooo depressing!!!!. I absolutely adore Kristin Hannah and she will still remain one of my favorite authors, however, this book was one long miserable sad story of despair, physical abuse and drug and alcohol abuse! Firefly Lane was one of my favorite books of all time and to see what happens to these characters was simply heartbreaking and quite frankly difficult to read!! There were several times, quite honestly that I ALMOST stopped reading it because it was taking me places I simply did not want to be and reading things that were just far too depressing for me to handle. Listen, we have all had lose in our lives and I recently buried both my parents, but the lack of strength in these characters was frustrating and a bit irritating. At times I wanted to scream at them to get over themselves and quite the whining!! I remain hopeful that Hannah's next novel will redeem her from this one!

Eh. Honestly, I love Kristen Hannah. But this book didn't do it for me. I loved Firefly Lane, this book felt like a dramatic attempt to get me to feel too much. Instead of feeling the heartache I was intended to feel, I felt annoyed. Annoyed by the constant bad choices made by the characters and the language that felt forced. The story is sad enough, it didn't need to be overplayed. I gave three stars because of the happy ending.

TaraThompson813

Heaven!. I read this book in 1 day, taking as few breaks from it as were absolutely necessary. The characters feel like real people & I already miss them. Thank u Kristen Hannah- your stories r such a gift.

Fly Away. Love every thing this author does. Nightingale favorite.

Fly Away. Good story, but too much of going back to the former book "Firefly Lane". At times, it was boring am I found myself making myself keep reading or flipping ahead. Overall, good read, but not one of Kristen Hannah's best, in my opinion.

LocoMichael

Beautiful.. This is why I read. A story that was so well written. I did not want this book to end. Firefly lane and Fly Away will stay with me forever. I really would love if Kristin would do one more sequel to this book.

Something nice

Awesome!. I waited a long time for this book and it did not disappoint!!!! I would have never thought the author would take the path she did with the main characters. Very good read! If your read firefly lane, you must read this.

Liiissseerr

Couldn't stop reading it!. It usually takes me awhile to read a whole book but I finished this book in just a week. Such a sweet story and tells a lot about Kate and tully's past. I absolutely loved it! The kind of story that you don't want to end!

Bladesly

Fly Away !. This book was Awesome just as good if not better then firefly lane! It's a must read!

Fly Away Review. I read both sequel books Firefly Lane, and then Fly Away. Both books were so captivating and I couldn't read enough. The story of TullyandKate really was touching, and Kristin Hannah really knows how to bring you into the characters lives. I highly recommend both books!

JudySoCal

Fly Away. I always enjoy Kristin Hannah's novels, but this one is the very best I have read so far. The characters come to life and the struggles each faces are raw and real. The truth of this book will stay with me always.

Lindylou39

Firefly Lane. Great characters. A wonderful depiction about women and their relationships. At times, dark and scary, but true to their characters. As Mothers, we do live with a lot of fear, but also a lot of love. Hannah tells it well!

BPF72

Not my favorite. Like others have said, I had to force myself to keep reading this one... It was SO depressing and the main characters were very irritating. Their reactions to their circumstances seemed very over the top. I did enjoy Dorothy's story though - would've preferred a whole book about her.

Mayviola

Wonderful. A sweet story about the reality of life. The ups and downs that sometimes take you to places you never imagine going. The giving the forgiving and the simple things that make so many memories.

Peachypitbull

Good read. I loved FireFly Lane, so I had to read this novel. It was good, but not my favorite Kristin Hannah novel. firefly Lane and Winter Garden still remain my favorites. Fly Away was very dark and slow in the beginning for me. It was A good novel to follow up with the first, I guess I expected something a little different. I was know that loosing a loved one can be very painful, but this book was very extreme in how it spiraled downwards with the metal health of the characters. A good book, just not my favorite

Jesser98

Great sequel. I didn't think it would be possible to top Firefly Lane! I bought the book for all my closest friends bc it was such a great story of friendship! This sequel Fly Away is a perfect ending and I can honestly say that I may love it more than the first! Bravo!

PDatP

Simply Amazing. All I can say is thank you for writing yet another amazing story! A must read! Highly recommended:)

Silver1245

Disappointed. I have read the Nightengale and Winter Garden. I loved these books. The reviews on this book looked good so I decided to buy it. I was so disappointed. The book was very repetitive, long and drawn out. I haven't bought a book in a while and was very excited to read it. I finished it, but to be honest I really pushed myself to finish it, when I did I was glad it was over. I hope her next book is as good as the two I enjoyed so much. But don't waste your money on this one. Sorry

Buckingb

Tears. I couldn’t put the book down even though I had tears in my eyes throughout the whole story. Another really good read

Mom&2sons

Couldn't put it down! Must read.... Loved loved Firefly Lane & couldn't wait to read Fly Away. I agree with others a little darker story than I expected but I couldn't put it down. Firefly Lane (still my FAVORITE book) & Fly Away are must read books about friendship, family & life's ups and downs, loves & losses.

Nana Tubbs

Fly Away. Hope to see the movie out soon!

KathyNYC

Keeps your attention. Starters off great even though characters are overdone to the point of disbelief. A disappointing ending

Trarber

Loved it eventually. For awhile this book was so dark and sad that I could hardly bear it. I loved Firefly Lane so much..I couldn't believe how dark things became before they turned around. However, it was very compelling and impossible to put down. In the end I did love it as much as Firefly Lane. It is a true testament to friendship and family..and how those really are the only things that matter.

JennifRH

Fly away. Absolutely amazing! Couldn’t put it down I cried so hard , it makes you think back to your very best friend and the memories! It makes you think ahead when you will be older and hoping you have the support Tully does too! Wonderfully written !

Amber Strong

Wonderful. Loved this book as much as the first, Firefly Lane. This book picked right up and went on with the story. Amazing read.

A*V*

Love!. Great sequel about friendship and forgiveness!

Jeannereader

Emotional downer. It was painful reading from the beginning through the overwhelming sadness that permeated the entire book. I considered putting it aside several times, but I’d bought it, darn it, and I would finish it! Marah, Tully, Johnny, one broken character after another, took me on an emotional roller coaster, dark and difficult. I am a huge Hannah fan, but this book didn’t leave me with anything resembling the satisfaction a book by Kristen Hannah usually does.

Fly Away. If you loved Firefly Lane this is a most read.

Alannad4

Fly Away. Amazing and powerful storytelling. Gives us all closure to Firefly Lane. If you're looking for a story to change your life, this is the book for you.

Mandolinda26

Fly Away. Too long... too redundant! Thank you!

Bunkmama

Amazing sequel!. I absolutely loved Firefly Lane. Never cried so much in a book! Fly Away is an amazing finish to Tully and Kate's story. Excellent writing as always from Kristin Hannah!

Fly Away. This book was very moving. A great story of friendship, family and love.

Mitzi 7774

Fly Away. Rarely do I shed a tear reading a book. I loved this book and teared up many a time. Having read all her books I knew the story of Tully and Kate and loved the follow up. Well done and I look forward to many more.

Kolody68

Disappointed. Although I enjoyed the story, it seemed too repetitive not only in terms of big word choices and phrasing, but also more generally in in themes. I have enjoyed her other novels all more than “Fly Away”.

Sadwert

Fly away. I loved this book! In fact I have read every single book that Kristin Hannah has written. I'm always checking to see when her new piece of art will be available. Please keep writing. I've never before read such detailed and moving books. You are an inspiration

Vodeldy

Heart wrenching and wonderful!. “Firefly Lane” and “Fly Away” are two of the best books I’ve read in years! And I read ALOT, especially now with COVID lockdowns and missing family. This story of friendship, family, and most of all, love, reminded me that all of those things are worth waiting for. That I can hold on and look forward because I know I am loved too.
