Cheated. Ok, I’m really not happy with this book. I liked the action and murder stuff just fine but the lack of a HEA with Eric or Bill just irritates the crap out of me since vampires were the big lovers. I really wanted Eric to fall head over heals for Sookie. Then when he left, I wanted him to pine, beg, & threaten other men, but none of that happened. He tried to have his cake and eat it too. I feel cheated!!

Taq02127

Wish I could give 1/2 a star. Worst book in the series. It is sad, it seems as if the author was rushed and took no time to really end each relationship or character. The ones brought into the book had already ended the connection to Sookie in other books. It was a train wreck from the beginning. Do not waste your time or money!!!

Blinzy

Wrapping up the series shouldn't mean ending it abruptly with forced relationships and zero closure. What a bummer. I really enjoyed this series and although I wasn't expecting and epic finale (10 quality books is good enough) I am pretty disappointed Sookie's tale ended in such an anticlimactic way. Did her and Eric even say goodbye to one another? Like at all? Anyway, what's done is done. I'll just pretend this book was never written and when I think of Sookie, I'll think of her in regards to the first ten books.

JessieJo2005

Saddened. I love the Sookie Stackhouse series, I have read everyone of them and been a true fan for years ( even before the tv series) This said I have to say this is my least favorite book. I am saddened by the ending of her story and who she ended up with! I wish that it had been Eric! For me it has always been Eric and I am extremely dissatisfied that it ends here like this!

Susanesoifer

Good book, bad series ending!. I liked the book before I knew it was the final one. Now I'm just disappointed!

Techlady4160

Charlaine Harris sure got lazy.. The last two installments in this series were short and pretty shallow. This series was never deep. But the earlier books were fun and sexy. This last book had none of that charm and I read it in a day. I feel cheated.

Arkadillo

Could have been better. I was sorely disappointed with the ending of this series. It was better than the True Blood ending, but was still not what I expected. Spoiler. The last book was filled with bit characters that haven't been in the whole series. No Eric, and very little Pam and Bill. It turned into a book of shifters and fae. Not even a cameo from Bubba. The bad guys left alive all conveniently come together for a last stand against Sookie and lose (of course). So now she can live happily ever after, right? I doubt there is any reason to get After Dead. Just another way to get a few $ out of my pocket. Oh we'll, thanks for a mostly entertaining series! Just wish the last book would have stayed true to it.

Jomarie.Eliason

Needs a stronger plots!. I am overly disappointed about the progress of the story. This book is just tying the loose ends with a very unimpressive story line. Such a waste of time reading this last novel.

Very bad II

Bad ending..... Bad ending to a great series. She would have stopped after the last book. Terrible.

Katstuart

Horrible ending. She just gave up. Don't waste your money or time. I've never finished a book or series before and ended up hating the main character. HBO did everyone a favor by abandoning the plots of this series.

Rottnkids

Dead Ever After. Good bye Sookie. You've been a great late night companion - never boring, always interesting, never more than you needed to be, someone I'd like to have met. And thank you Charlaine, for the entertaining escapes.

Iamkrash

Underwhelmed. I was so excited to read the last book of this series and was so mad by the time I got to the end. It seemed so pointless and the 'bad guys' felt completely irrelevant. I feel swindled out of $12.99

Misslovelylady4

Good. I enjoyed this last book. The chemistry has been building between Sookie and Sam since the beginning. Their are guys you have fun with ,and then their is the good guy you spend your life with.

Ashleyrose83

Great book!. I have read Sookie since book 1, before True Blood even was a show. CH continues the story as she saw fit. I was rooting for a different man all this time, but she stayed true to her vision and I believe Sookie is exactly where she belongs. I'm very glad CH doesn't let readers influence her to change her stories. She knew how it would end and she kept it that way. It's impossible to please everyone, but she did what was right. Greet book!

Cortland502

Good - fun - read. Not the best in the series - it was a fun read though - not disappointing, kind of a strange ending ... Hope there is another one in the works - Sookie is a fun heroine.

Whittney Wermter

Dead Ever After........accurate description.. This was so disappointing. Yes, she tied up all the loose ends. However, it seemed rushed an half-assed.

Edgeypooh

Dead Ending. This book had so many problems. It was super boring. I was put off by how much Sookie sounded like a bigot through the first half of the book. There was lots of things left unresolved. And the mystery wasn't really a mystery. Not to mention too much boring details about cooking and stuff. It was a very hard book to finish while the 12 previous books were all fast easy reads. This one kinda sucked.

Covertocover

Sad. I feel like she was tired of writing these books. It was just another story no real ending... I still enjoyed it, but feel like it was not as well written. When it came to the last say 25 pages it felt like she was just trying to finish it. After everything about Eric through the whole series, but at east Quin showed up.

ShutYoMouthyMouth

Iffy. I love these books, but the ending was kind of lacking.

Autwalk

Wh. It was good but a little less steamy than the others. The Eric stuff was like a bucket of cold water.

Distedistediste

Good finish.. I thought it was a good ending to a good series. I hope Sookie has a wonderful life!

Cball77

Boring. It surely didn't keep my attention like the other books did. It seems as if it was rushed, just to get it over with.

Begorgeous

Well Done. I don't understand why this book has gotten so many bad reviews. I am only giving it 4 stars because there are still some unanswered questions. Such as, there was no specific person that Sookie ended up with. It was hinted at and some people assume who it was, but there was no concrete decision. As in, she agreed to marry or married a specific person and they lived happily ever after, etc... I hope this will be answered in the follow up book. Some people argue that the style of writing was different, but I disagree. I made it a point to re-read some of the previous books to refresh my memory of the style of writing and the characters. The writing style is the same as previous books, and this book was just as entertaining. I feel that the characters behaved the way they would normally have behaved, and stayed true to themselves. I felt the the ending of Eric and Sookie was sad, being a huge Team Eric fan, but in all fairness, it ended well. There were two major issues in this relationship, and I believe they were given a proper discussion. Eric still provided for Sookie to show her his affection for her, and it's clear that they both still love each other on some level. Sometimes love itself is not enough, and that is shown here. Don't judge a book based solely on what bad things other people have said about it. Read it for yourself and judge based on your own opinion. I'm glad I did. This book is a good read and Charlaine did a wonderful job of wrapping it up, although, there are some questions that still haven't been answered.

Cindymsm

Farewell Sookie. While not the best book in the series, I'm satisfied with the ending. A few loose ends are tied up for many of the characters. I saw many reviewers who were disappointed, but I'm not one of them. I'm still a Charlaine Harris fan and hope she continues with the "Grave" series.

Avrmir

Losing her touch.... This is Charlaine Harris's worst book. It is not due to the ending. As an author, she can end the series any way she likes. The issue is that the book is boring... it drags on. The content is stale. Sadly for her, Trueblood (which is taking her stories in a different direction from her story lines) is great! It has spice! She had an amazing series with exciting plots and she had readers hanging off of their seats. That is the opposite case with this book. The fact that this is the last book in her series is both good and bad: good as she cannot write another painfully bland book, bad as she ends the series on a dry, "blah' note that leaves a fan hungry and confused. I do not recommend this book.

Tapdivaaa

???. This isn't a review of the book as it is a complaint to Apple Books. Several chapters are missing their last page. Fix it.

ThaoTicked

Beyond Disappointed. CH, if your heart isn't in it, don't write the book and slap a huge price on it just to make some money. I felt betrayed by the author, knowing that she wrote it just to get the story done and the publishers out of her hair. I would have waited another year for the last book if it would have been 100 times better. This book is blasphemous.

Tara K. 23

Don't listen to other reviews!!!. The only criticism of this book that I have read are selfish people who do not agree with the ending. I myself did not enjoy who Sookie ended up with, however the last sentence in this book was the most empowering thing I have read in a very long time. Unlike the twilight series and basically every fairy tale ever created, Sookie is a remarkably STRONG woman. This is a character that is hard to come across. Everyone wants the happy ending with Prince Charming coming in on his white horse to save his princess. What this book does is show a woman who does not need a man to define her and will get through things no matter what, coming out the other side stronger. Buy it, read it, pass it on to your girl friends, your mothers, your daughters, any woman you can find because this is the message we should send to our kids. That a woman is control of her own life, she does not need a man to take care of her, and having the strength to get through heartbreak instead of letting it consume you is the mark of a truly remarkable woman. A woman all of us should want to be. SPOILER ALERT!!! And to whomever wrote "my poor Eric", are you kidding me? That jerk left Sookie for a more powerful vampire. He had a choice. He also treated her like absolute dirt at the end of their relationship so he did not deserve her to use her magic to keep him with her. Jeez!

Dhcoebdb

What I expected. I think the people unhappy with how Sookie's story ended just weren't paying attention to what Harris has been telling us about her for the last decade. This is exactly how I expected Sookie's story to end.

Loved the Viking

What the crap!. I'm writing because I loved all the books but it would have been better if sookie used the cluvial dor to turn Eric into a human or wish freyda away so Eric and sookie could live happy ever after. This ending left me really depressed.

Justin(-A)Barnes

YES!. The best way to end a series. I loved every sip! For all of you who hate how the finale ended, I have this to say: if you look carefully back at past books, once Charlaine saw the series was going somewhere, you can see little hints on why she ended up with who she ended up with. I loved her vision all the way and call myself a TRUE fan for it. She is brilliant!

Eilantha3

Disappointment. Seriously not pleased. Had such high hopes & she dashed them all. Why build up characters & relationships if your just going to ignore them and let them just suddenly, randomly dissolve?

Blue493

RIP Sookie…. thankfully!. I am so Glad I will never have to read another conceited, mean spirited, bigoted , prideful and hateful word or thought from this backwoods, white trash Character. I only stuck through this series for the ensemble who were at least three dimensional characters and who will be missed. I am more then thrilled to think of lowly Miss Sookie living out her unimpressive days keeping house in Sam's double wide behind a Bar. Thats a good fit for her! Oh and Charlaine…. how about you try making your villains something other than a minority and an easy target…. once, maybe twice…. but every book…c'mon Lady Please!

StaceyAmato

Dead Ever After. I loved it, but that's not who I was hoping Sookie would end up with.

Keeps trying

Dead ever after. Kind of a sad ending and wide open for another! Disappointed!!!

Krd175

A series wasted. I wish that I had never read this book. It ruined the entire series for me. I normally will reread a series that I like several times, but this series is dead to me now. It would have been better if she had never written it and let the series die with at big question mark. The plot is meandering and the ending is not believable. She drags in as many of the series characters as possible with no real contribution to the story line and yes I am upset with what she did with Sookie’s love interest. Not because I am so vested in one character, but because she spends the better part of series aiming Sookie at one guy and then at the last minute doing a 180 and leaving her with another. I like the character who Sookie ended up with, but I found it unbelievable. She basically dumped it on us without any real build up of the relationship. I am normally extreamily loyal to the authors I like. I seek out all of their older work. Short stories and other series, but I doubt I will ever read another Charlaine Harris book again.

Rokran

And then it was done. Very predictable. I get it was the last book and things needed to be ended, but a little more mystery and suspense would have been nice. It felt rushed and boring and worse than the last 2 books. After reading the previous reviews, I knew what I was getting myself into, but I couldn't not read the final book.

Gr8Dane12

Don't Expect Much Except to be Disappointed. I loved this series until the second to the last book. That book and this one are absent of all the things that are great about the series, and I won't recommend them to anyone. Characters you loved suddenly become myopic and disappointing. I often got bored while reading rather than excited with anticipation about what will happen next. This book was incredibly predictable and couldn't be less enticing. I feel as if CH lost her talent to write coherent, fluid novels and just threw these last two together to make a sale off the loyal fans. (Maybe she should have taken more time with them the way Sookie wants to with her latest "relationship.") I was so upset about this book and the lack of closure, especially in regard to Eric, that perhaps I will save others the time and money. You'll be happier and more satisfied if you just make up your own ending.

Sydste

Disappointed. Wow what a huge disappointment!!! The last 2 books were a huge let down and this one even worse. Spoiler----- I always hoped her and the viking goddess would work out. I figured tere was a good chance they wouldnt but I was hoping it would be someone new she ended up with; a new character not someone who has been there all along! I felt robbed reading it, but new where this romance was headed since reading the ending of te last book. An author cant write to please everyone and I'm sure many people with love this book but for me personally I dont care for how everything played out. It felt like a big build up to absolutley no where.

JLaTX

A bit disappointed :/. After reading all of the Sookie Stackhouse books I have to say this was my least favorite. I didn't feel the connection or emotions I felt reading the other ones and more so in regards to her new love interest.

Pennington2259

Great. Charlain Harris never disappoints!!! Great book wish there would be more!!

(((((((((((((()))))

Disappointed. I wish I had read the reviews As stated in other reviews the last 2 books were definitely not up to the rest of the series. This last book was a chore to get get through and unimaginative.

Boosmoke

Booooo!!!!!!. I knew it would end the way it did, but I was hoping the author might change her mind. No such luck, the ending sucked!

Sookie resigned

Sookie Lost. I will always think very highly of Charlaine Harris for giving us such an amazing series. However, the finale seemed rushed and incomplete. Almost as though the author was done before she started on the final book. I'm so disappointed not only in the final choice of a man for Sookie, but the fact that she's never had an attraction to him. I feel no chemistry between the two. And, she's now pretty much just settled rather than trying to keep her true love. When has Sookie ever given up so easily? She didn't even try. I feel that the ending was so contrary to the true nature of the key characters. I do, however, look forward to reading more from Charlaine who has become my favorite author. Perhaps she can write one more Sookie novel down the road when the pressure is off.

AvidReader30

Well - I am left with regret..... I have loved this series and anxiously awaited every book release, I am sorry to say the ending was flat and the true book lovers deserved more.....

Rzfstg

Did seersucker. EYou I really foeq to be scs

TFreestone

Shaking my head. What a disappointment! This series has always been a must read must buy the day it's out. This book was not the others. It was poorly written almost elementary and boring. It held no real storyline for the last book and jumped from topic to topic but never really put together closure with the series. I'm not sure how this mess got past publishers but I'm assuming they just saw dollar signs at an established series. Well I'll continue reading the interesting Beautiful Creatures I put down in excitement for this. N

Kavenk

Soso. It left me o.k with everything. We have came this fair you have to read the book if you have all the others.

Ohyeahfun

Hate to see this series end. Awesome as always ! Sure hate to see the Sookie series ending. They were an absolute thrill ride from beginning to end. Thank You Charlaine !

Tmtmrshmlnr01

Last in the Sookie Stackhouse Series. I definitely would recommend this book to anyone who has been a long time reader of the Sookie series. Highlights included old foes and friends alike making re-appearances and some serious questions answered. However, as an avid reader of the series and watcher of the show I'm not finished with the story of Sookie as well as her many commrades. I am still left wanting more. Darn it.

Palathius

Not as good as the others. I was disappointed I felt like it was late down on how the story ended.

O0Oliveland0o

Good series. Good series and a decent read in itself but I was disappointed in the ending and didn't feel it was very finished and appeared rushed.

Joe Mathias

Horrible. It's like reading bad fan fiction from someone who hasn't paid much attention to the previous books. The characters' motivations are vague and changing. The action scenes are confusing and poorly narrated. The characters who have gotten the most attention over the past 12 novels are quickly dropped and ignored. For a series called "The Southern Vampire Mysteries" there really aren't many vampires left by the end. Disappointed that it had to end this way.

Zombiemaegan

Ridiculously disappointing. Probably the worst ending to a series ever. So disappointing. Though it seemed like the series had been in decline for some time, this was just epic in it's failure to close out the series. She might as well have written "and they all live happily ever after."

Natebonn

Sadly Disappointed. I loved reading the book... However I felt it lacked substance... No real closure... I felt like it read... Blah blah blah... Where was everyone's ending? It could have easily been the BEST of the series... It wasnt... I felt that the last four books were no match for earlier published books... :(

Pilates1234

Dead Ever After. Wow was so looking forward to reading this book - wish I had checked out the reviews first. The writing is sloppy and not reflective of her early works - she sold out for the money and fame her heart wasn't in this one

Habitant2414

Lacking. Like a few of the other reviewers on here I felt that something was lacking in this novel. The previous 12 were mostly great! It almost felt as if she got tired of writing and summed it all up quickly at the end. It sure left a lot be desired. Ultimately I felt there was little to no closure - which is why I assume the next book is coming out later this year. It answers all the burning questions still plaguing readers minds.

Tkrnionla

Bad. Wost book in the history of fantasy bad writing bad plot horrible changes to past main characters and a tragedy of an ending thanks Charlene way to kill your series.

Saditsdone

Dead ever after. Loved it!!!!! Wish there was going to be more sookie books. The best books ever! Very happy with the ending, but so sad it's over.

Bella0311

And what passes for love is never enough.... I was ok with the way the serie was going but in the beginning of this one my heart just wasnt in it. I'm sad that its over and I wish we could of had a closure with all the other characters of the book (other than their personnal relationships). Like are they all okay with each other? Does some of the final couples will be having kids? And like what the hell happens to Bill? And Bubba? And Desmond Cataliades? And Barry? Does anyone ever those again or does Sookie never see them again ever and thats why there wont be another book? I need closure and lets just say that, the book wasnt enough.

Dead Tales Lover

Final Curtain. I liked the ending, it was what I had hoped for all along . Way to go Charlene, I am going to miss the books though . I loved the stories of Sookie , and all the other Bon Temp characters.

Bvailati

Horrible. This was the worst ending. I have read every book in this series and was not expecting an ending like this. I would not recommend this to anyone.

Mm459

Worst book ever. Are you kidding me???? That's how she ended the books??? Eric just leaves?? She ends up with Sam, maybe. That was the single most crappiest ending to a series that I've ever read in my life. I'm so furious right now. Could you at least have given some explanation on why Eric left? He's in like 4 pages of the whole book?? Don't buy this. Horrible

Brendannewyork

Really?. A let down for all of us who have read them all. After this book I'm glad it's over. So many things left unfinished, it's kinda like she was bored with Sookie and took the easy way out.

Anna03;)

Disappointing. The other oaks are so much better. This was anything but exciting! Totally not worth the $ or my time. I'm so sad that this is the ending she choose. I almost wish that I did not read this!

Pweaver628

Lackluster. Wow I really struggled to get through this just as I did with the last two or three books. Waaaaay too much detail on what was going on ie how sookie made her sandwiches :/ The author just rambled on and on with descriptions. Like she was just trying to fill up as many pages as she could. I find myself kind of glad the series is over if she was going to continue writing sookie'a story like this.

BamaProud

Seriously?. Horrible ending to a series that should've died about four books ago. So disappointed!

Jenay567

Eh. Same as all of the other books...someone is trying to kill Sookie and we aren't quite sure who is behind it until the very end, and then she is saved by all the other characters. Didn't end exactly as I had hoped, but not a bad book. Just the same as all the others.

LockhartFam

Not pleased.... I have loved these books and loved year books. I was not happy with the ending. I was hoping for more resolution. Things just weren't wrapped up the way I had hoped. Overall I feel almost slighted. I feel something was definitely missing from this last book.

Crimsonsasquatch

Love love love. I know a lot of people hated the ending but I loved it. She ended up with who she should have. Go Charlaine Harris! I've read all her books and I look forward to her new series.

Kalemima

All Sam - No Eric. I can't believe it ended like that! What happen with Bill? After all the romance with Eric.... I didn't like the ending. This book was all about Sam.

DAB105

The last book of Sookie. Wow what an amazing end to a series of books I have so enjoyed over the years. I'm sad it is the end but will hold out hope for a spin off. All if the characters in this universe are so compelling and you come to care for them all. I am very satisfied that our girl Sookie had been left in very good shape and hopefully will remain with the right man finally! Thank you so much for such a great group of books I keep rereading!

*****MEG******

Great....but needed the happily ever after. Great book. The whole series is a "can't put it down" series. But the ending was a bit lacking. It needed a " one year later" epilogue with Sookie and Sam getting married and having a normal happy life kids or something. That was kind of a let down. Tsk tsk.

Milgrl

Not the ending I expected. I would have loved to see more vamps in the book and a more exciting ending. It was "eh."

Lacylb

????. Disappointed:-(

Caramel2121

Sad it's the last. I really love this series. I read each book in less than a day. I wish the author would reconsider and write more.

Double sad

Big let down times 2!!!. I'm super sad the series is over but I'm double sad over how disappointing this last book was, especially the ending. Very upset! The last book want that great either. It feels like Charlaine Harris was just over it.

DisappointedStackhouseFan

Don't waste your money. * Spoilers* I love this series, but the last book was absolutely awful. I wish I had never read it. * Sookie has almost no interaction with Eric or Bill or any other vampire. * The story line was so weak. Most of the story is so mundane and about Sookie grocery shopping, cooking, shopping, checking her email..blah blah blah... * I really disliked the ending. It felt rushed and I was so uninvested in the whole Sam romance. Overall, the book just felt lazy and like Charlaine Harris ran out of ideas for the ending. She just threw it together because she wanted it finished. I also had to push myself just to finish reading it.

NevilleDevil

Yay!. Bittersweet that this is the end:( I love love love this series! I loved the ending, but I wanna know more!

Kirbytravel

Left wanting more.... I was hoping for more! More Eric, more Bill, more, more, more!! I'm fine with whom Sookie chose, but left wondering about life after love!

Hluv7774

Don't want it to be over. Absolutely Amazing

Kattttt123

Okay, it's over, but for me it was over two books ago. I paid full hardcover price for the book before this one. I found that it lacked a spark, Just didn't have the zest the earlier ones squeezed out. I had high hope for this book and I preordered - never again. This one saddened me...I wish I stopped reading Sookie two books ago and saved the cash.

Kds11172013

Dead Ever After. For this being the last book, I was disappointed. Having read the whole series, this book fell flat. I guess there just wasn't much left to say or do. Yes characters from prior books showed up, yes people died (as they always do) but its the ending that leaves you deflated. Was hoping for something more exciting and wonderful, instead you are left with boring and human. These books are about so much more and I expected and hoped for so much more.....oh well.

Michelle fort

So disappointed!!!. Thought it would be so much better

Laurie Steffan

Worst book ever. It seems like Ms. Harris just threw this book together to be done with the series. What a total waste of time and money!

Phonjunkee

Say it isn't so!. Such a let down. Being a fan of these novels, I was sad to see it was ending. After reading this book though, I refuse to believe it. There was always an air of unsophisticated writing to these books - the constant revisiting of back story and the needless re-explaining of things - but the lack luster ending to this series is just insulting. It's hard to believe that Sookie's use of the cluviel dor would miraculously lead to her and Sam's "romance." It's even harder to believe that Sookie and Eric don't end up together when they are so clearly meant to. NAY! I say it is not over!! It can't be! And if Harris doesn't fix the ending of Sookie's story, I might just have to pick up where she left off. There are so many better ways for this epic to end!!!

SSScubed

Hmmm Sookie is in trouble now!. This one started out slow, but 65% or so in, got going. It will be interesting to see how True Blood uses the storyline in the series!

M.a.stubb

Author is tired of the series... And so am I. You can tell Charlene Harris is just over the series and dragging it out. A predictable, safe, non-exciting conclusion after 13 years. Like a relationship that's ran it's course, it's time to break up and go our separate ways. But we'll always have the memories of the good times in the beginning, right?

AppleGrrl

Meh. After 13 books and a couple of duds, I was hoping she would go out with a bang. This was more like a whimper. I'm glad the series is over because, really, there wasn't much left to it. I'm just glad I don't have to read the description of Sookie's barmaid (let's be honest, waitress) outfit anymore. That being said, Harris ended it the only way she could, which will be satisfying for many, but ultimately, pretty disappointing. There was a serious lack of character development, or should I say continuation, and it just seemed hastily put together. Save your money or read the spoilers online, not worth the purchase.

Cylasmay

5 - stars. Great read, just like the rest of the Sookie Stackhouse series! Sad it's over.

Dzapmom

Flawed. I felt this book tied up the stories of the characters well but it was completely flawed in Claude's death. How could a fairy be killed with a bullet? Was it made of iron? And there was no mention of him dissolving into fairy dust.

Ashmartin413

Big fan, but disappointed with the ending.. I have been a big fan of this series for years, dutifully getting every book the day they hit the shelves. I've even gone to one of Charlaine's book signings and waited in a two hour long line to see her. I have to say though that I've been pretty disappointed with the last couple of books. This was not the way I wanted this series to end. Of all the strong, gorgeous male characters in the Sookieverse, Sam was my least favorite. I found him to be annoying, whiney and cumbersome in every book. I had hoped that Charlaine would repair the bond with Sookie and Eric at the end... But instead, Eric disappeared and she wound up with Sam. Blah. Really? Why?? I needed to read it, so that I could tie up all the loose ends, but I wasn't pleased with the outcome.

Seemed a bit rushed, but a solid ending.. I'm sorry to see this series come to an end because I've been a fan for so long. I liked this book, but it seemed like the plot was a bit rushed and many relationships between the main characters were sort of left hanging. In this volume, Sookie and Bill are practically strangers after all they've been through. That was disappointing. There was very little interaction with Jason, but somehow a couple of new characters were introduced do play small parts in the plot. No fair! Even the villains in the story seemed incomplete. I do like the choice of ending Mrs. Harris chose to write for Sookie, but I was left wanting more closure for the other characters I've gotten so attached to. It's worth a read to see how the story ends. I just wish there had been a little more to it to do the series justice.

👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎. A waste of time and money on many books for it all to end horribly. I would not recommend this book to anyone!

Expected more. This book was definitely better than the last 2 but I was disappointed with the ending and how the author ended all the characters....except for Pam! I felt like more needed to be said about Sookie and her great love. Just feels like more could have been said. It feels so cut off. Nothing tops book 4 for me! But sad to see it end.

It's sooooo over....

It's sooooo over..... I was disappointed with the last book, and not because of who Sookie ended up with (because he was one of my favorite guys). I felt like the book was unnecessary, and all the important details could have been wrapped in a prologue of the previous book. i have loved every book of the series until now and wish i hadn't had to read the whole thing just so I could finish the story. At times I felt like the book was just a reunion book and the appearance of many charecters was just to the reader could say goodbye to them.

Only because its Sookie.... Only because its Sookie ... And one of her books did I give it 5 stars. I didn't know this was the last one! I thought the whole point of Fantasy Fiction with a ton of books in a series was to have mass buildup through the books and the final one to have...oh I don't know a SUPER HAPPILY EVER AFTER! Sorta bummed. I didn't know ( or I was too busy starting the book excitedly to care!) this was the last in the series until I read some of these reviews. I think Mrs. Harris needs to rethink it and do just one more. Just to make things right. Especially for those of us who bought and read every book; and every small story book in between and have read them all repeatedly over the years!

Good end to a truly great series. After reading reviews I was pretty worried that I would be disappointed. But, I have to say, to those who have read the entire series, this ending fits who Sookie really is. This was true to the book version, not the HBO series( which I love too!). All of those who are upset with the ending need to re-read the books and pay special attention to what Sookie's wishes for her own life were. Looking forward to the next release that should help us know what happens to all of our favorites!

Perfect. I loved it. It ended just they way it was supposed to.

She still got it!!. I am so sad this is the last of the books. I'm glad she ended it the way it did. If you like the other books you will love this one. Can't wait for this season of TrueBlood. Although I wish the tv series stuck to the books more.

Dead ever after. Omg!!! Awesome is putting it lightly... Can't wait for the next one to come out

So disappointed. Not happy with ending of story, after 13 books I was hoping for a happier ending :(. Never going to touch any of Charlaine Harris books again. And really Sam of all people I would have been happier with Quinn or Alcide, or maybe even boring cheating Bill.

Dead Ever After. A really fast read, like all the books in this series. I will miss Sookie and only wished this was not the end. :(

Bye, bye Sookie, Bon Temps, and all the Supes. I'm so sad, and even disappointed! I can't believe how 14 years of reading this series, the way it ended!! I'm sorry Mrs. Harris chose to end this remarkable series on the note that she did, it was lacking closure for many characters, and unanswered questions. I'm really sad that Eric was basically ignored and went without as much as a whimper. Sad, so very sad, especially since the whole series was brought about because of the premise of a Viking Vampire, and a telepath. The vampires were basically thrown under the bus. A very big disappointment, for ending a 14 year relationship, with such a great cast of characters. I only hope that the HBO series, does the remainder of the TV series, the justice that the book didn't get.

Disappointed. Extremely disappointed in this last book of the Sookie Stackhouse series. Boring and definitely not worth what I had to pay for it. I have absolutely loved reading these books and expected much more for the final book. Left me feeling pretty empty after reading it in 2 days.

Sad this is the end. I didn't feel like there was much to this book. Really it was just wrapping everything up and I didn't find it as exciting as the previous books. Also wasn't too satisfied with the ending and who she ended up with.

Beyond disappointment- a total flop. Let's face it- Charlaine Harris was never a literary genius but she had a following and for a time and some of her books were addictive- an escape. But she has so negligently slopped together this predictable, disappointing and boring finale that she actually outdid her prior incompetence. We all experienced the decline- the assassination of the characters we once credited her for birthing, the lack of anything creative, the incessant rambling about nothing purposeful to fill pages, the apparent inability to understand why her audience was drawn to her books and appeal to that...she lost her "mojo". Perhaps she is not intelligent enough to write for the characters she created. I wanted so badly for the finale to redeem her- and was brutally disappointed. Such is life. Now I understand why HBO took such creative license with the "True Blood" series- they were compensating for her weakness. I hope they don't screw it up.

Disappointing. I've loved all the other books in series. The book felt rushed and thrown together. The ending was predictable and disappointing. Unfortunately not worth the money I spent on it...

What a let down. Very little action, much like the last one, and when there is action it is completely brushed over or not that exciting. The ending is came out of no where. I wouldn't be so upset if there was a build up. Things are somewhat left unresolved emotionally. (I don't want to give away anything that happens for people who do wan to read it so I'm sorry for the vagueness)

Why O why!

Disappointed!. This book was a complete disappointment! It was nothing like I thought it would be. In all the books it seemed like Eric and Sookie had a real connection;however, after reading this last book I can't believe that charlaine Harris could actually end the series like this. This book was so bad that when I got to the last page I though that someone was playing a joke on me.. There was no suspense, no big OMG, no nothing, this book was full of nothingness and I wasted my money and time by reading this book. Save your money and makeup your own wonderful ending based on the last book, whatever you think up will be a million times better that what CH wrote.

Gigi_411

Disappointed!!!. After reading every book (twice), I always anticipated the next one and preordered this one. When I arrived on my e-reader, I was excited. Unfortunately, the excitement fizzled when I realized that this book was a disappointing end to a great series. Too many open ended items and no resolution on many characters. The story line felt forced as did the relationships for the main character. I would not recommend this book and gave it a one star because that was the lowest option.
