Finished in 35 hours. I started this book not really knowing what I was getting myself into, but once I started I couldn’t stop. This book leaves you constantly wanting more, you can’t help but anxiously wait till they finally fall in love. Although the ending crushed me into bitter-sweet pieces, I cannot wait to read the next books. Thanks for opening my eyes!!

I Loved It. I purchased several books to help me slip away mentally during the COVID-19 crisis. I had seen the movie and was not impressed. But for some reason, I felt the need to read the book. The book is always better and it was on sale. Why not? I could not put this book down! I fell in love with the characters. While reading this book I did not think about social distancing, face masks, gloves, deaths, shelter in places, and COVID-19. It was just me, Will and Louisa. I have got to watch the movie again. I will appreciate it more.

Me Before You. I hate reading, but I loved this book. The author writes so passionately and almost paints a picture in your mind.

Be prepared to cry. This book was so enduring, that you are able to feel all of Louisa’s emotions. It has been a while that a story has got me so involved. If you have the time I definitely recommend you give this a read!

An unexpected gift of a book. I was familiar with the title & remembered that a movie had been made from it. I had wanted to see the movie, but never did. Now, I’m actually glad I didn’t because I got to enjoy the book all on its own. It’s a beautiful book. It deals with a hard subject, a dynamic young man, rich, spoiled, & living a life of adventure, women, & even hard work. Then he was hit by a motorcycle & his life was instantly changed. He’s now a paraplegic with very limited movement in his shoulders & 1 hand. He has no Will to live, instead wanting very much to choose death. His mother hires a companion for 6 months with no explanation for why it’s only a 6 month job. Their story of finding their way to a deep & abiding friendship & love is entirely captivating. It’s a dark subject that’s handled with great care & it’s not a depressing book as you’d expect. I highly recommend it.

Not just a romance. A story that would make you laugh and make you cry, made you think about who you are and what you want. You don't have to loss in order to learn what is important, read this book and you will find a new way to live your life.

Pretty Good. I found me before you very enjoyable. I loved Lou and her fresh voice. She was different in a way that made you stop and look twice at her. I hated though how her family treated her. Her father was horrible to her constantly making horribly offensive jokes about her, her weight, her not being smart enough. To say the least his lack of respected for his daughter was horrific but other than that the book was great and the character development was amazing. Truly a literary masterpiece or romance and heartbreak that really does leaving you asking yourself "would it be better to survive or to let go?".

Review: Me Before You 1: Me Before You. Me Before You by Jojo Moyes is the first book in her series, Me Before You . This is the story of Louisa Clark and Will Traynor. It is powerfully emotional, quite heartbreaking but also leaves you with a sad but wistful happiness at the end (read as: Not a TOTAL tragedy, but grab your tissues!) If you have seen the movie, you already know. If not - be prepared for the emotional wringer. Lou is a bit of a mess when we first meet her. She is in denial about the standstill that her life is at and is happy in that denial. Taking the caregiver job out of sheer desperation, she finds herself in a unique and uncomfortable position but when she finally breaks down Will's surly resistance we see that even he cannot resist her charm. Will is a heartbreaking leading character. His quadriplegia has taken away from him every single one of the pleasures he enjoyed in life prior to the accident and left him in pain and with the need to rely on someone 24-7 for help with even the smallest of tasks. Lou absolutely charms the surliness right out of him but her contract is only for six months and there is a reason for that. As I watched the movie before I read the book, the entire time I was able to envision the actors while reading. The movie follow closely while, obviously, not containing all the intricacies that was Lou & Will's relationship. I am beyond pleased that I read the book and will be diving into the next too right away... After You and Still Me. Enjoy!

Good book but didn’t like the ending. Good book overall kept me reading but once I got to the last three chapters i kept loosing hope on how I would have liked it to end compared to how it actually ended.

Me before you. I found more that half the book to be slow going, and was not going to finish it. It def picked up in last 200 pages! I had a hard time seeing Will put an end to his life!

Absolutely mesmerizing. I really don't know what to say about Me before you. It's amazing, mesmerizing, heartbreaking, it's true to life. It's in touch with real life. It's eye-opening and a must read in my humble opinion. Some topics aren't easily discussed and they're definitely hard to comprehend, but still, we all need to step out our comfort zones and experience life to the fullest.

Me before you is spectacular!. This isn't your average romance novel. It's quite different from the rest which makes it an amazing book. You can't simply let it down but you don't want the book to end. Lou and Will are fascinating characters. It's a heartbreaking romance novel and it's not your average one where they break up and then go through "adventures" and end up together again. I love the movie but I love the book a bit more.

Thought provoking. ***May be a little spoilery to some people*** This was a very touching book that left me both parts sad and happy. In just six short months, Will and Clark lived a lifetime of happiness. I felt like the book showed a very realistic side to Will's daily struggles. Even when he was at his happiest with Clark, he was still in pain/sad. My favorite part of the book was when they went to the wedding together. They were truly happy, but it also showed the struggle for Will too because while he wanted Clark to cut loose and have fun, he still needed someone to look after him (which he hated but never let Clark see). He was so happy but as soon as Clark went home, he let his guard down and we saw how much pain he really was in. That one scene made me realize what chose he ultimately was going to make. I really enjoyed the book though. I loved all the effort Clark put in and i liked the chat groups she joined to get more ideas from other quads. I loved that Clark grew and opened up so much. While I don't agree with Will's decision, this book made me understand it. So while it was sad, I was also happy that Will and Clark had those six months together. Great book.

Worth reading. We’ll written, enticing, emotional… The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars was for several unrealistic details that bothered me (like watching an action movie set in 2022 where they never use cell phones).

Really sweet story. I ugly cried in the end. I have yet to become so attached to a character that the mere thought of them has made me cry. It wasn’t your typical love and romance story. I admired the authors dedication to the development of Will and Lou’s relationship. I also liked the chapters where we experienced the story from a different perspective than that of Lou, it helped with understanding where Will’s head was at, as well as reminding us that these were people trying to be there for a person they cared about. This is probably the most I have ever cried for a fictional character. I recommend this book to anyone with a soul or anyone that wants to feel like they have a soul. Look, jus read the gosh darn. It’ll make you laugh, cry (a lot), smile and smirk, and give you all the feelz. And if you have even smallest heart in your body you would scream at Will for making you feel that way. Excellent story actors & presentation. I was reluctant to watch what I thought might be a boring old romance novel. I was wrong. This is a different kind of story, well told by the actors and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I wondered, in fact, if it might actually be based on fact. In any case, it's not been a waste of time at all (because I saw it weeks ago and parts of it still crop to mind occasionally). My husband watched it with me (and he's not into "chick flics") and HE said it was a very good movie as well.

Get a box of tissue.. Just finished the book and I am a mess! Tears uncontrollably streaming down as I'm writing this review. God, I'm so heartbroken!.. It's a great book, it just really hits you in the end.

A Thought-Provoking Escape. I truly enjoyed this story, full of strong, memorable characters tackling tough unspeakable topics. Well-written in an engaging, unique style, JoJo made it easy for the reader to personally connect with the cast and feel empathy for each of their circumstances and perspectives. Amazing. I was sobbing. I watched the movie first and I believe the movie does the book justice. Will is such a witty character, I vividly felt the loss of him. Definitely one of my favourite series of all time.

Difficulty with Will's decision. While I did finish reading the book, I had extreme difficulty with Will's viewpoint that life wasn't worth living if he had to live in a wheelchair. What an incredibly ableist, biased, and potentially dangerous viewpoint. I'm surprised there isn't more outcry about this.

Me Before You. Being disabled myself with the same level of injury as one of the main characters I was curious to read this book. I enjoyed the story but the details of living with quadriplegia are so off base in so many ways. I too use a power wheelchair however I AM ABLE to feed myself, brush my hair, pour myself a drink and so many other things. Myself and many other people I know with the same level of injury lead very active lives. We marry, have children, work, volunteer, are involved in many sports like skiing, scuba diving, etc. Our homes look like homes. They are warm and inviting - not a sterile environment like Will's home was portrayed. In my twenty years living with quadriplegia I have not known one person in the same circumstances who has even attempted suicide. I would definitely not recommend anyone who was newly injured to read this book!

Wonderful novel. I read the entire book in 2 days. I couldn't put it down. You will experience laughter, you will cry, you will maybe question your morals regarding certain sensitive topics... Its a book were it faces reality of people being disabeled and how they feel about it. I find that wasting 9$ on this book is worth it. Viscerally Amazing!. Dear Jojo. Pardon my english is not the beat since i've been living in the US just for two years and a couple of months (and I live in Miami, where spanish is almost the most spoken language lol) I tried to gather my thoughts on "Me before you", and as hard as i tried, not to fall in love with romance novels, i failed. This book is a reminder that love is tougher than we believe. Its sacrifices, it's bluntly way to make us all feel. I have not stop thinking about Will, he's extreme need of ending it all, his absolutely admirable way to stay 100% sure of his decision even after (clearly and remarkable way to love Louisa) meeting Lou.

Sappy and silly. I don't know what I expected. Perhaps it appeals to tweens but it certainly didn't have much for anyone over that age.

Less than one star. This book is utter garbage. Ableist UNREALISTIC narratives about disabled people bring better off dead, THAT idea needs to DIE!! NOT disabled characters. No disabled person in Will's position would want to die. If he were able bodied, would this be " touching"? No, it wouldn't. It's not touching just because he's disabled, either. How is it that the movie's tag line was to supposedly " Live Boldly", when the person who suggests it wants to die? Might I add that the beginning of the book was completely incongruent to the second half. It's as if the author decided to pander to the ableist fiction that ascribes that it's better to be dead than disabled. Insulting to disabled people everywhere.

Only 5 Stars???. This book definitely deserves more! One of those stories told in such a way there's no doubt it will "stay with me" for a long, long time. In fact, I never reread a book, but just might make an exception in this case!

So disappointed. Let me start with what I liked about this book- the story had dimension and layers to it that made it one of those books you didn't want to put down. The story between the protagonists developed in a natural way that didn't feel forced. Now for the part I didn't like- the ending. I hated the ending so much that it completely ruined the rest of the book and is the reason for the 1 star rating. I was so disappointed with the way this book ended.

Great Read. So I bought this book so I could have a preview before I watched the movie, it is by far the best read of the summer. I couldn't put it done from the moment I read it in store to the minutes before I purchased the book I was hooked. Clarke is an amazing character and hearing it through her voices and imagining it through her eyes was the best choice. The story is one that has you holding your breathe, it isn't until that brief release that you realize it. It has your heart and your gut fighting with the rational thoughts in your head, while the pages plead for you to turn them to continue the cycle that is Me Before You. By the end you feel as though you are the one who was been walking in those bright bumblebee socks.

Excellent. The book was a great read! I certainly didn't think the author would go with this ending but after much thought I believe it was the right ending. Just purchased the 2nd book and about to read it now. I have high hopes for this one (fingers crossed)👍🏻

A Rollercoaster. I found this book to be a rollercoaster of my emotions. After deciding to see the movie and read the book first, I downloaded the eBook and began. Honestly, I thought it would be kind of boring, and continued to think that through the first half (ish). After a certain point I couldn't put the words down and became immersed in Will and Lou's story. I just finished the book after an hour of reading and crying, and could not recommend it more highly. My only words of warning are to have tissues nearby.

Me before you. It was fabulous I couldn't put it down. The characters were very believable. The description of the places they went to very realistic.I just loved it.

Kleenex needed. I decided to read the book before I go see the movie. I loved the previews of the movie, I thought it might be better to read and compare. Also I know now to take a box of Kleenex with me! This book is incredible, riveting and really makes you wonder what you'd do in that position. She's braver than I would be.

I went into Me before you knowing that the male characters in this book was in a wheelchair and the female character was taking care of him. I honestly don't know why ,but the ending surprised me. I thought she could do it ! Me before you made me really sad. I have decided now that I'm not going to pick up the sequel "After you" because I felt like the ending to this story is best left alone. I really don't want to continue the story without Will.
