Every Good Endeavor by Timothy Keller
Every Good Endeavor by Timothy Keller Book Summary
New York Times bestselling author of The Prodigal Prophet Timothy Keller shows how God calls on each of us to express meaning and purpose through our work and careers.
“A touchstone of the [new evangelical] movement.” —The New York Times
Tim Keller, pastor of New York’s Redeemer Presbyterian Church and the New York Times bestselling author of The Reason for God, has taught and counseled students, young professionals, and senior leaders on the subject of work and calling for more than twenty years. Now he pulls his insights into a thoughtful and practical book for readers everywhere.
With deep conviction and often surprising advice, Keller shows readers that biblical wisdom is immensely relevant to our questions about work today. In fact, the Christian view of work—that we work to serve others, not ourselves—can provide the foundation of a thriving professional and balanced personal life. Keller shows how excellence, integrity, discipline, creativity, and passion in the workplace can help others and even be considered acts of worship—not just of self-interest.

Keller’s Best Work. I have read 7 of Keller’s books. This is his best work. The deep theological thinking that he unpackages in the practical realities for our everyday work is a must read.
Great read. Keller has a way of connecting everything to the gospel, and this boom is no exception. It's well worth the read.
How can I do EVERYTHING to the glory of God?. Before reading Keller's book, as a Christian, I had an extremely hard time relating my walk with Christ to anything I did. "What is the purpose? What is the point?" I didn't ask these questions out of some sort of self-anxiety, but out of simply wanting to live as well as possible for the glory of God—seeking to obey the Bible's command to "whether you eat or drink, do it all for the glory of God". Keller unpacks an incredible theology of work that ultimately seems to parallel somewhat with Gabe Lyons' book ("The Next Christians") & Lyons' ministry ("Q Ideas") to be restorative to the world around us, not only to make disciples (first and foremost), but also seeking to cultivate all of life toward an image of the New Jerusalem—when Christ comes again. If you are looking for an answer to the question, "Why should I do anything at all," and especially the question, "How can I do EVERYTHING to the glory of God," then look no further. This book is brilliant. I don't know why the iBooks store doesn't present higher ratings. God speaks through Timothy Keller, once again. And this book may be my favorite of his. Now if you'll excuse me, I am going to go mow my lawn...JOYFULLY...for the glory of God. ;)
God’s will for work. The book provided a lot of information on work, which is not a curse but helps us imitate God. God worked in creation, and he will recreate it when Jesus returns. I think God’s given way of doing brings us fulfillment and passion.
