Racing from the remote, war-scarred landscapes of the Middle East to the blood-soaked chaos of the U.S.-Mexico border, #1 New York Times bestselling author Tom Clancy delivers a heart-stopping thriller that is frighteningly close to reality.

Working behind the scenes for the CIA, ex-Navy SEAL Maxwell Moore arrives at a rendezvous to take charge of a high-ranking Taliban captive and barely escapes with his life. Undaunted, Moore is relentless in his quest to find the terrorist cell responsible, but what he discovers leads him to a much darker conspiracy in an unexpected part of the globe...

After years of planning, the Taliban have come to terms with a vicious Mexican drug cartel and agreed to supply them with opium. For the cartel, the deal means money, power, and ultimate control of the drug trade. But for the Taliban, it is a long awaited opportunity: to exploit the cartels and bring the fire of the jihad to the hearts of the infidels, striking against the very heart of America.

Slow start. Typical Clancy, slow to start but finishes well. I've read every book Tom Clancy has ever put out. I'm not sure were all these bad reviews are coming from, I liked it. It's a little more along the lines of Web Girffin. Seems that Maxwell Moore will be the new John Clark

Bgodd

Clancy is back Rainbow Six style. This a great return to roots for Tom Clancy with a book much like Rainbow Six, but bit lighter of a read, which is refreshing. Clancy continues with his amazing grip on current events, or more accurately prediction of probable future events.

JCEDO65

Final Chapters. I thoroughly enjoyed the pace and story through the first three quarters of the book. The final chapters though felt rushed through and lacking content.

Vinceflynnfan

Against All Enemies. Not terrible, but disappointing to me. I agree with Elcee3 that it doesn't "feel" like Clancy, at least not the Clancy I have devoured with joy in the past. Too much resting on his laurels and letting a ghost writer who wasn't up to it do the work? Characters were not developed with the same depth as in the Clear and Present Danger series and the Rainbow series, and the story plodded along at times.

Coolgeardonna

Way too long. Story too convoluted. Way too long. Weak ending, no closure.

Mike In Pittsburgh

Clancy in name only.. While Clancy's name may be on the book and it may be his story idea and outline, the writing is not his. If someone else's name was on the iDustjacket, it might be a 4 star book, but Tom, your fans deserve better. This was like going to see Sum of All Fears expecting Harison Ford and getting Ben Affleck.

Roadshadowww

Against All .... As usual, very well written and it kept my interest cover to cover.

Cleosdaddie

Against all enemies. A good read. The introduction of Caruso at the end has set the stage for Moore to join Jack Jr and cousins. Can't wait for the next book.

Jonhitch

Against All Enemies. First Clancy book read in a long time! Well worth the read and got better as it went along.

UnchainedGun

Great book, but I miss Clark.. I enjoyed the book. The story is a real page turner. I do, however, miss Clark, Dom, Jack and Jack Jr.

Roadrunner787

Against All Enemies. Everyone should read this and then remember who our enemies are.

Base973

not worth time and money. When Tom Clancy wrote Hunt for Red Oktober and Red Storm Rising he was praised for his research. Research is not on his agenda anymore. The wingsuit base jumping part is just pure bad imagination of a whuffo.

KECORR

Not Clacey's Best, But. I've read all of his early books, and several of his more recent books. Loved all the early ones (favorite is still probably "Without Remorse"), and enjoy the later ones. This is a good read - interesting story line and plot, with good characters - but not the great flow and connection of events and themes that his best books have. It seems that just as a plot or character's thought is really developing, the event comes to a close and you're off to the next section and activity. Could have used fewer pages with better writing. But as I said, I enjoyed it. Just not the best Clancy book.

Graybeard56

Very disappointing. This was not the well-written, well-researched, well put-together book that one usually expects from Tom Clancey. Several times I thought about not reading any more, but kept reading, hoping in vain that it would improve. I will try to research better any future books by Clancey before investing in another.

Pointy nose

Welcome back Mr. Clancy. Best Tom Clancy book since the Jack Ryan series. Bar none. Keep them coming.

RugbyRef12

Not well written. I am frankly astonished that Clancy would put his name on this book. It was not well written. The story does not flow as we have come to expect from a Clancy novel. I will not make this mistake again.

737Mack777

OUTSTANDING!!!!!!. Clancy is the best in non-stop action.

Jay5in

Against All Enemies. Good read, classic Clancy, but a few awkward asides due to Moore's remembrances of the past. A bit far fetched that in the middle of a shoot-out you can afford a three page rant about a memory and the character's head not pay the price

Michael Yanik

Against All Enemies. Awesome, the start of something Big! Fiction mirroring reality! One of the best!

Mark2159

Against All Enemies. Wow!! One of Clancy's beat yet!!! I hope we hear more about Moore!!! Mark Iowa

06460

Against all Enemies. Murder. Mayhem. No mystery. Not worth a skim.

Sdav406

Against All Enemies. I've read all off the Clancy books. This one had a bit of a different style, but well worth reading. It will be needed to understand Moore in the following books. Forget all of the negative reviews and go for it.

DBM6858

Enjoyable But Not Clancy. This was an enjoyable read, but I find it hard to believe that is sprang from Clancy's fingertips. At the end of a Clancy book, we know the main protagonist and quite a few other characters very well. At the end of this book, I barely knew Moore at all; he lacked texture and depth. It was also surprisingly bereft of technical detail, the stuff that made Clancy a legend in the world of espionage and military fiction. Finally, the author's descriptions of SEAL life, training and and operations were more like those of a starry-eyed kid than the respectful but matter-of-fact tones used by Clancy in the past. So all in all, this was a good book, it just wasn't a Clancy book. I'll read Dead or Alive soon enough, and hope that it's more in line with what I expect from a Clancy book.

JL121765

Excellent read. Great book, keeps you on the edge throughout.

MAUIMANM

Against All Enemies. A great read, huge body count, great ending, bit long but worth the time. Another great action novel from Tom Clancy.

Sterly!

Great. There is only one think to say that crosses my mind WOW

EleseKz

Movie. Fantastic and so real. Can't believe all they have to do to keep us safe. Can't wait for the movie.

Utahcamera

Against All Enemies. Thought I was purchasing an audiobook.... NOPE! Can't find it in audiobook? Can't read and drive...... ratings look poor in any case.

Road Scholar

Against All Enemies. Typical Clancy -- brash, far-reaching action. Sequences strained, at times, by inadequately defined changes of venue and personnel. All in all -- a very good read.

Tapinbird

Good read. Clever and thrilling. Couldn't put it down on the flight. Not as intricate as other Clancy books but was neat how it all came together.

InspMO

Against All Enemies. Maybe the best Clancy book ever......maybe

Isreimers

Against all enemies. It's like reading todays papers with global language expresions, as usual, Tom Clancy's work is very well resourced.

Billzhorn

Against All Enemies. Classic Clancey. predictor of the future?

DGatzby

May be one of Clancy's best.. Easy to read and never a dull moment!

Cmainor

Against all enies. Great non-stop action with fantastic story weaving and plot development. Couldn't put it down! A big salute to all the "Moore"s out there protecting our interests.

COMMUNIC8R

Unbelievable. I have read them all - not just TC's books but many of the other folks we have come to depend on for great action stories. This THING from 'The Clancy Factory' is just plain awful. Read the other reviews - the bad stuff that is said is true; the good comments had to have been written by someone before they opened the book. IF Mr. Clancy read this book, he should be ashamed - actually, either way! Can I get my money back? I would love to be able to unread it!

Dawn and Derrell James

I own all of Clancy's books - wish I hadn't bought this one. As good and deep as Clancy's earlier books were - even his studies in leadership series with gulf war generals - this is neither deep, nor well researched, nor worthy of being on my bookshelf. This was obviously not written by Clancy, and appears that his last novels only have his name in bold to get a paycheck. If you see a second name on ANY Clancy book, DO NOT BUY IT! What a shame...

Longhorn5555

Amateurish. Couldn’t finish.

LARRYPATRICKJOHNSON

I wish for more Sir John Patrick Ryan. But I know he is fading away. His boy is good, but not the same. Mr. Clark is getting old too. Moore is a pretty good character, I enjoyed the weapons mentioned and bought another book because of their inclusion. 'Trigger Men' I hope Tom keeps writing, I am always dubious when another writer shares credit. But this was. Good piece of work. Kind Regards, THEBEAR

Hammer917

Below average tale.. Pretty thin connection to the Jack Ryan series.

DrDeb7

How sad. While the overall plot is fair, this is not the Clancey of old. This is not the seamless, detailed and believable "read" that we are used to. The writing was second rate and the characters were predictable. While it had lots of action the movement was inconsistent and sloppy. The two plots - the drug cartels and the jihad - were not woven together well. As a result the overall effect of the book falls far short of what is expected. Tom - either write it yourself or retire.

Riksil

Against all enemies. Implausible at times but all in all a fun summer read.

Renelaw

First I’ve read of Clancy.. I’m sorry, but it may be the last. The story was contrived, characters were flat (really introduced just to be killed and by mid story you figured that out). Oddly written with seemingly endless unnecessary descriptions of military equipment. I kept wondering if it was mostly written by the co-author so an elderly Clancy can still use his name to sell books. I’ll probably go back to give one of his books from his earlier years a chance, but if it’s like this one, I’m moving on.

Martin Rosas

Against all enemies. This was a very good read it only took me 5 days to read it on my iPhone. I was not dissatisfied at all recommend it highly all his books are well written and fast paced I will add this one I hardback to my collection with all the rest of his novels in my library!!!!

Woodboat

Good but not great. Got a little bogged down with the drug angle but I can understand why.

Mitchell Kaufman

Against all Enemies. Wow fantastic book. Great pace. Well written very relevant. This is one of my new favorites.

USMCLawyer

Good, but..... Entertaining, but lacked the Tom Clancy character and plot development that I am used to expecting from a Clancy novel. I still recommend the book, but warn readers to temper their expectations. Tom Clancy, where art thou..?

Hollysign

Against all enemies. As usual Tom Clancy's style and " this could happen here" story telling keeps you on the edge. Great read.

Eddie.11

Against all. Good

Zombie man2012

One of his best book. This is one of the best books. It is different not reading of the same players but I find it refreshing at the same time.

James47

Awful boring dull - what happened?. Huge Tom Clancy fan - and this just flat was boring. Read half the book before I gave up. Plodding story line, flat uninteresting characters, and just nothing to engage the reader. Worst book I have read in a long time. By comparison a Travis McGee novel is highly crafted (!).

UNCFANDAD

Against All Enemies. Entertaining. I am unsure why an intelligent person cannot write a book without f**k throughout it.

Spl4tter

Is it just me?. A good read although hardly what one would consider a "Clancy Classic". Since he lost his two best sources for story lines and with the distraction of the Rainbow series, Clancy doesn't really seem to be on his game. Alas, we all get older and lose just a little bit everyday. Still, he is what he is and that's still one if the best fact-based military fiction writers of all time! As previously stated, a good read!

Sftifoso

Against All Emenies. When I first read Without Remorse, I instantly fell in love. This unfortunately is not Without Remorse, it is pure commercialism. Clancy was once known for the depth of His research, but this falls decidedly short. I'm quite certain that he knows no respectable operator would carry two pistols or carry in a shoulder holster. The actual story was enjoyable but his glaring missteps and need to fit this book into a Hollywood script pulled me out time and again.

Ellcee3

Against All Enemies. Not a bad book, but still not up to the old Clancy of "Clear and Present Danger" adventure. Seems like more of the voice of the guest writer with Tom Clancy sort of filling in the details. If that's what it takes to get more of my favorite author, then I am willing. I do rate it as a 'definite buy' as the new character has enough edge to make him a great addition to the Clancy list of great characters. As a avid Clancy fan, I did miss the deep background development of characters Clancy has used in the past that made the reader really identify with the main characters in past books. I hope as future books are written, we will learn a bit more of the 'how and why' of the characters. I especially like the 'bridge' that unites the new and the former; I believe it will be a good formula for exciting reading! Thanks Tom and welcome back, I hope you're feeling much better!

Nmathmaster

My review. I found this book to be rather racist, book is written as if all Muslims share the same vewis as the Taliban .but other wise the book was kinda good=|

Ayad taha

crush. the whole ibook crush when just try to open the sample ,dont buy it till it get fixed

Jagsurgical

Against All Enemies. Once again TC has written a book torn from the headlines before the headlings occur. These other reviews by mamby pamby do nothings that complain about racism and right wing ideals havent lifted a finger to help our society so they have a difficult time wrapping their pachoulie empregnated brains around TC's concepts. The charecters have honor and drive and self reliance.... concepts the left seems to revile. If you are a fan of TC then you'll love this book, you will read the free sample and the break a finger dowloading the whole book.

Zhong liang

Classic Tom Clancy. A good read for Tom Clancy fans with the narrated events being very plausible with the events happening in today's world. For military fiction buffs, it doesn't get more real than this.

Harrington1971

Rubbish. This is the worst Tom Clancy book ever...very disappointed.

CaveManRancher

Thanks Miami rolla. Haven't even read the book yet but your review made me buy it in a heart beat.

Miami-rolla

This Book is for GLENN BECK!. If you are a fan of Glenn Beck, Fox News, Sarah Palin, Then this for you. Full of bias.

BeamUpTime

Page turner. You won't want to put it down!

MWL298

Against All Enemies. I was very disappointed in the book. It was not the depth of plot that Clancy has done over the years. It was if he had four different plots with common characters and they all were somewhat related but all ended in their own time. I fear this is the price for franchising with other writers
