My All Time Favorite Book. I remember when I was in the sixth grade I discovered Jack London at the suggestion of the school librarian. I was so enamored with the story and his writing style that I requested a copy of the book for my own that Christmas. You probably won't believe me, but I read and re-read that book and I literally, LITERALLY carried it around in my hand, every single day, for so long, probably well over a year, until the pages started to fall out of the book. It was a windy day and I think I recovered about 95% of them, and then continued to carry that book around with large rubber bands holding it together. That book still sits on my shelf, along with other Jack London books and stories. One story that still haunts me is To Build a Fire. To think of all the small and large mistakes that man made when he so desperately needed a fire to stay alive. It really put the day to day life's issues and needs into perspective for me. My other two favorite authors are H.G. Wells and Ray Bradbury. I even stood in line somewhere and got Mr. Bradbury to sign a few of his well tattered books. But this review is about Jack London. If you've never read anything by him and are up for a book, start with White Fang. Many people saw Call of the Wild is his best, but I disagree. And if a book is too long for you, try To Build a Fire, first. You won't regret it.

Awesome Book!!!!!. This book is so amazing! I had to read for school and thought I would really hate it. But I was probably the best book I've ever read . It's a little confusing at the beginning and in the middle it's a little boring but hang in there it's a really great read! I personally love dog books and this was the best! It's about how a wolf-dog survives cruelty, hatred, and being mistreated. But he overcomes this cruelty because one man gives him the best gift of all, love! He changes this ferocious, savage, and hated creature, into a creature that can love! This book has really touched my heart and I would recommend it to everyone(but children shouldn't read this book the wouldn't understand). Again I really urge you to really this powerfully compelling book! Hope you enjoy it's a true classic!

A true classic.. There is a reason that books are considered to be classics, and that is the great writing that goes into them. Jack London is one of the great writers. I put him up there with Melville. “White Fang” is a true classic. London has the ability to put the reader into the mind of the wolf-dog. It is extraordinary. I would recommend both this and “Call of the Wild” to any reader.

It’s all about perspective. After reading Call of the Wild, I was excited to read it’s famous counterpart. London’s writing is just captivating. The raw, ferocious and morose life of this wolfdog was just so interesting and engaging. I’ve been an avid reader all my life, but to find a new voice, a completely new perspective was so refreshing. You find yourself sympathetic to what’s traditionally seen as one of man’s biggest adversaries. My first wolf book, Julie of the Wolves, showed me how intelligent, adaptive and social wolves could be. White Fang solidified all those ideas and gave me a deeper understanding of life’s idiosyncrasies and how compassion can alter your entire path for the positive. Well done Jack London, bravo.

Best Book Ever.. This is the best book I have ever read in my entire life! The author did a fantastic job on this book.

White Fang. Reading 'White Fang' I found it very insightful and interesting from the heart and soul of a creature of the wild. My father was a nature lover and brought home many wild animals that were sick and needed care. One coyote pup not yet weaned, became my own. In this story I see so many similarities that my soul mate had. We cared for a wolf, a seal, a badger, and a bobcat. All through the book I could feel the truth of this story. Great book. I'll be honest, it's not exactly my favorite book, but it's pretty good. So is "The Call of the Wild". If you haven't read "The Call of the Wild", I strongly recommend it if you enjoyed White Fang.

White Fang. I read this book some 40 years ago and it gave me a great appreciation for all things wild. Once again as I read it I remembered the feelings it stirred in me in my youth. Jack London writes with such detail that you can see exactly what he saw in his mind. I love his books and intend on rereading all of them.

Awesome story and explanation. This is one of the best animal books I have ever read, most books are made up facts or personify the animals. This book has no supernatural only pure biology but it still makes a great story. The story is told from 3rd person omicient meaning you can tell the thoughts and events happening all around, though he manages to keep the focous on white fang without him speaking but simply living and acting.

Not Up To Hype. Strange and inconsistent pacing. The first few chapters were thrilling. Then it got slow. Then slower. Then it moved along a bit. Then slowed. Then got interesting, then more interesting. And then the ending was a rush job with many missed opportunities to glorify the proponent.

Not for the weak of heart. It's a great book with history, greed, weakness and love!! Couldn't put it down.

White Fang (by Jack London). A great dog story. Quite a bit of hyperbole; and to my thinking, a little too much unwarranted extrapolation into the mind of the dog. I also did not agree with much of what the author suggested was possible in the changed behavior of a dog which spent most of its life as a completely wild dog/wolf or the half-wild tentative possession of Indian people. Nevertheless, a classic, I'm reading it for the first time at age 79. And a good story with a fair amount of philosophy which I approve of.

White Fang. This story taught me about life. Love builds love, and hate incites hate. Never had I thought I could learn so much through the experiences of a blessed wolf. Jack London is an exceptional writer and story teller. If your considering adopting a pet, I think this would be a great read for you!

A great read. I was very surprised by this book. I was expecting a slow pace story like it is often the case with older work. But this is a fast paced read and seeing the world from the perspective of a wolf is very refreshing. Most enjoyable, and free!

White Fang. I liked this book because it tells you about how White fang felt and what he thought about humans. I loved this book.

Inside the mind of a wolf.... Reading this book that was written well over a century ago was a revelation. London rocks the page with descriptions of brutal savagery and self defence. At times it is shocking but always rings true. Survival in the wilderness is not a given and brutality is an everyday reality. Especially when man is involved either red or white. I flew through this book and cried at the ending. I related to this beautiful savage beast and felt the chill of the North on every page. This is a highly rewarding read. Enjoy.

Good but no “ Sea Wolf”. Well written , of course, but it pales in comparison to “Sea Wolf” however unjustly. I had just finished the aforementioned when I came upon “ White Fang” hoping for more of the same. It is a brilliantly written book and definitely worth a read. I just should have waited a while to read it. Or, better yet, read it before reading “ Sea Wolf “.

Review. Jack London writes eloquently about the life of White Fang - with some anthropomorphism but always qualified that the wolf doesn’t think or understand that way. It just is as it is. A tough read given the cruelty towards White Fang but an excellent one.

It is so real at times you can travel in your minds-eye smell the pine trees at parts it made me laugh one of my dogs had his head on mine he was listing to the story. White Fang....Simply the best!. I first read this book some 65 years ago and fell in love with the North and this magnificent animal. It moulded my life to respect and wonder at nature and the power of words. It still enthrals me after all this time. The style of writing is strange compared to modern books but forget that and be carried away in sheer enjoyment.

Between okay.. And awesome! 😋. I rate White Fang 4 stars. I didn't understand why Jack London had to put that first part even in the book...! It was really weird and didn't go well with the story- at least I think. Then ever so slowly it got better. The end is (I must admit) cute. Though it wasn't my favorite book, I guess I will recommend it. If you like wolves, then you will like this book. If you like dogs, well lets just say (SPOILER) most every dog you meet in the book dies so... I don't know if you should attempt reading if you L-O-V-E dogs. Have fun reading anyway! 😋😋😋👍

It's Okay. This book was written with great detail. It was very complicated to under stand. I found my self quite bored at time's. That is why I would rate it three stars;It's Okay.

White Fang. This book never gets old. Starting from the den you can smell the mustiness of the deep riverbank… And feel the sunshine on your face as you come out into the world… And every bit of grit that the main character feels going through life. It's one of those stories you live, and not just read.

Yet who is brought out of that life at the last moment & redeemed by being shown immeasurable love & patience capable by others in our world. Man is capable of great horrors & injustices yet also great feats of love that defy all odds.

Best book ever!. This has to be the best book I've ever read its sad at times, but in the end it's very happy. I luved this book so much.
