I just don’t know how Sherlock does it Overall great read and highly recommended, see if you can solve the cases first 🙂

Once in Live. Kinda umbrella but I don’t think I can make that big of them too much.

I loved every one of these stories, this book helped me through many sleepless nights.

Riveting

Excellent classic read! I never get tired of the great adventures of Holmes and Watson!

What, volume is this !?

Good

I thought the stories/cases were average at best. I was overall, disappointed.

You fools hahahahaha

It was great I love how it is dated back to a very long time ago

A wonderful set of stories. Thanks !

I really like all the mystery’s and it is really fun to try to solve the mystery before Sherlock Holmes finds out.

I had never read this book before. But it’s interesting.

This was a great book, I was immediately interested. There are some chapters that are a bit slower, and even though I read them, they weren’t as interesting as the others. The great thing about this collection is that if you don’t like a story, move on to the next one. I would recommend The Speckled Band as the best on in there.

Having been a fan of the movies, I was interested in reading this book. The writing was a challenge to sometimes comprehend, due to English ways of description in the 1870’s - 1890’s. However, character development was by far excellent, along with storyline. Highly recommended reading puts you in England alongside Dr. Watson and Sherlock Holmes, for many cases to solve!

It kinda dragged in some places, but most of the stories were very intriguing and well written.

This book has allowed me to think over and above in Fortnite. I now understand how to drink the chug jug IN SEASON TWO and in 10 seconds. I am now a master gamer

I had a hard time staying interested.

This book is awesome...jk... this book is friggin boring. It’s un-entertaining. I wish I could un-read this udder piece of garbage! I wanna cry it’s so bad.

👍🏽

There are few phrases that I think could have been better written as having been said by Holmes, but other than that, Sir Doyle has done an outstanding job at putting down detail and fact, as factual as can be, to keep an audience’s attention. I’ve always loved Sherlock Holmes stories and mysteries.

I’m usually a slow reader, but I finished this book only in a few days, while for others it would take weeks. The interesting, splendidly woven tales of mystery really snatched all my attention, and I haven’t read any of the longer tales written by Doyle yet, but I definitely will! Really recommend it!

Good book

I loved this book so much that I couldn’t stop reading the sample!

To me it was really boring and I always reAd ahead in 12 grade history

Some of the adventures were hard to get into but over all it was a good book. I am reading the classics and I considered this one of them. Enjoy!!

Djrbdxkrmdmbnrdnf

It was a good book it also tasted good

I love Sherlock Holmes and was ecstatic to find I could download my favourite Sherlock stories for free! Love it!

Sexy 😜😜😜😜😜😜😜😜

Bored bored bored

I've always heard how good theses stories are, but never took the time to read them. The stylistic writing of the time, the density of the story, and the persistence with which they are revealed are better than any crime novel out there. Hats off to Arthur Conan Doyle

It was absolutely garbage

Lots of fun in its old-fashioned way, and not dry or staid, as I thought when I first read these 20 or so years ago. In fact Doyle's writing is more descriptive and insightful, and at times wry, than I ever game him credit for. Maybe you can see the solutions coming -- or maybe that's just my half-remembering from decades ago -- but they're still a lot of fun. It's a good idea to have Wikipedia handy for some references that nobody knows anymore. Enriching!

best adventures no matter how many times you read them.

Very well written and I enjoyed each chapter as if I was reading the hard copy! This suspenseful novel allowed to me stay interested in every mystery and criminal-mastermind without becoming bored or mundane. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle creates scenes of anticipation for the reader and he does an excellent job of telling a vivid story for every mystery.

A thoroughly timeless tale of mystery, humor, loyalty, suspense, and honor. I could barely lay it down and hardly wait for the next adventure!

I loved this book I was sad to get to the last page. The stories were thought provoking and even with the old English ,was easy to read. Recommend reading, enjoy.

Enjoy the Holmes creation by Doyle for the numerous facets of his personality, singular focus, deductions and assembly of facts to reach his conclusions. A wonderful, almost visual staging of the British culture, character and life at that time.

A wonderful classic, each chapter is a different case with just enough detail to keep you intrigued without getting lost in trivialities. A fine read.

Hi, I am Bradley Normandin and this is DA BOMB. I highly recommend this book... MustRead

Stephen King wrote in On Writing: the art of writing requires just enough detail for the reader to absorb the author's point, and no more. Doyle might be one of the best examples of that art.

Enjoyed all the mysteries that I read. If your a fan of the movies, you'll be a fan of the short stories

classic!

I mean, who doesn't love Sherlock? I read this book very quickly, as it held my interest intently. I absolutely loved it, and I'm now looking for another one!

It is difficult to not see Cumberbatch and Freeman on every page. Doyle's straightforward and unembellished prose, so unlike that of his contemporaries, makes for easy but enjoyable reading. He leaves the fancy talk to the characters and keeps the scene description honest, without the obfuscation, interminable run-on sentences and vague literary references that plague the alleged masters of his profession. This was a welcome antidote to my recent completion of works by Dickens and Hugo.

Arthur has finally outdone himself. I am a 7 year old boy and having read all the Sherlock stories thrice, I have come to respect his tale more, and more. I love the doctors narration so much. Does anybody nkow when the next one comes out?

Loved the individual cases for the chapters, great for scattered reading without forgetting details.

I love these Sherlock Holmes stories. The are So exciting, the way he deducts things is cool.I especially like the ones THE SPECKLED BAND,and THE BERYL CORONET.It is like you don't want to put it down once you have started reading it.They are amazing, these stories.

Best book ever!!!!!

The episodic nature of the book made it a little jarring for extended reading sessions; but a joy for a quick chapter here and there. It’s easy to see why Sherlock Holmes as a character has transcend eras and is still relevant to this day. Being a flawed, pompous narcissist made him a perfect contrast to the reader (Watson) and created a great dynamic where you both admire and resent him throughout their adventures.

The best book ever created

Never gets stale. Such a cool brain. Love the deductions.

Amazing. Download it.

The book was ok but it was a little boring .😴

Here are 12 delightful tales of Holmes and Watson, all the better for NOT being among those best-known tales we've. All read, seen in film, etc. there may seem an occasional variance in the qu,laity of the tales; I'm not sure how hard Doyle worked on all of them. But in toto, they are neat little packages. Lots of clues here into the make-up of Holmes himself, and a great way to end several late nights....one neat not-too-long story at a time. Great good fun!!

Amusant et représentatif d'une époque. Certaines enquêtes sont faciles à déduire mais gardent quand même leur côté divertissant.

A wonderfully textured book with likable characters. Anyone can love Holmes's amazing deductions! Great book!

Well narrated and very interesting tales.

This has everything a great book must have!

The Sherlock Holmes series is quite enthralling. But you have to read this book, it's amazing!!!!!!

Sherlock Holmes really is one of the greatest fictional characters of all time! :D I never get tired of reading and rereading the books.

Loved it.

Still a great read, even after 130 years!

Pleasantly entertaining! Enjoyed all of the stories and am now going to indulge in The Return of Sherlock Holmes. Very good!

Super fun read!!

Ive seen both the motives and the tv show but this is way better

I never thought about reading this book, but now that i have read it, I wish I could have read it before an I'm not even a teen yet!

Magnificent. The stories are rich in character and environment. The writing has brevity as well as clarity. Triumphant.

I loved this book I actually finished it. If you knew me you would know that is a huge compliment.

A light enjoyable read, consistent to the style of other Sherlock Holmes adventures

Picture yourself as Sherlock Holmes investigating every house looking for clues. Read this book and figure out the crimes of detection and picture all the crimes in this book.

I liked it

I haven't finished it and yet I still love it because I like mysteries.

It's a great book that everyone should have read at least once!

Well-written, intelligent stories, and a nicely presented free version from the publisher.

I am still reading this book, I kind of don't like it. I am still on the first chapter. I only have one book so far.

Doyle is great as always, and love being able to travel with some good stuff on the iPad too. No such thing as too long for a good book.

Great book but it's kind of too long.

This book is phenomenal,it is so arousing . Honestly this has kindled a passion of reading in me .What is astonishing is that the book is entirely free, no costs associated. The tension is almost tangible . Well done.

It’s a great book and all, but it takes too long to get to the action.

Excellent, good read!

It's always rewarding to read the book even if there are Hollywood films based on them. To think, this story was written more than 100 years ago!

Sherlock Holmes, an extremely classic novel filled with brain challenging puzzles for the reader as well!! I always try to guess the case beforehand!!

Best murder mistery book I've ever read

It is a great read Arthur Conan Doyle lights up dim lights and makes Holmes seem witty but cocky also.

An enjoyable read. Light hearted but full of intrigue and unusual events. Great to read a complete story in one sitting.

Sherlock Holmes is a highly fascinating book with more adventure for Sherlock and Watson. P.S lot of death

@thek55 I found your review very engaging and helpful. Thanks!

20 years ago it was suggested to me that I should read this book. I should have listened sooner as it was simply a delight to read and I am so happy that I found the time to complete this book. Take my advice and read it, you won't be disappointed.

Good book

A good read!

This book is great at!

This is one of the best books that I have read so far

An old classic which stirs the mind's imagination. Easy to read in short episodes. Looking forward to the others in the collection.

My 1st e-book and it was free. Great read without the bulk of a thick book. Interesting stories so it deserves all stars.

The stories in this book were an enjoyable read.

If you want to try iBook, get this book...

As a free book this is just fantastic. If you have never read Sherlock Holmes you NEED to! It is a great story that anyone can enjoy.

The greatest detective if all time

Amazing

Great to revisit these classic stories

Ingenious and extraordinary

I like the stories. Although the plots are not wholly dissimilar, each story offers a unique reading.

A true page Turner.

Keeps you entertained, great stories, a classic!

These stories are just phenomenal in every way possible. Great mystery and adventure. I enjoyed reading them a lot and I’m just some dumb kid.

It’s just confusing at the start not even going to bother imma just delete it for my iPad storage if you read this don’t get it

Ok so I can go ahead and tell you that this is a very good book 💁🏻♀️💁🏻♀️

Omfg the moment I picked this book up I knew it was going to be good. Could have added all the other stories as well though.

Didn’t think I would like this but I was very impressed. Very entertaining and enjoyable. Each short story kept me guessing.

I don’t think this is a lovely history

This book was rubbish totally did not scroll through the book if you get me £16 I will rate this book the best

Good book I really liked the book

I really enjoyed these stories, so many , some of them I’ve never heard of .... lol really spell binding, really good reading.

Brilliant.

Made my journey to and from work thoroughly enjoyable

I have not indulged in any of the old classic before and took it upon myself to have a change of scene for my imagination. I am a mother of two young boys and have recently found it hard to enjoy a previously much enjoyed hobby such as reading; however these little episodes were perfect and bought much excitement to my nighttime shenanigans with two small people. A great read following the fantastic 'Lost World' and I can not wait to discover more of Sir ACD's writings.

Brilliant short stories, gripping at times, not bad from the pen of the original Portsmouth Football Club goalkeeper!

The book doesn't disappoint, while I've been reading this book of short stories the voices I hear in the conversations are of Basil Rathbone & Nigel Bruce, which in my humble opinion are the definitive movie pairing for Messrs Holmes & Watson

Just superb. Best book you'll ever read!

If you have eyes and can read I implore you to do so with this wonderful collection.

Wow that was amazing if I could say 1 thing about this book it would be read this book it is amazing it is one of my favorite books ever oh my gosh

The book is good a watched the film and the book is rubbisher then the film

This is a great book. It is helped by the amazing third series of Sherlock, but the book it's self is something completely different. Amazing works from an amazing author

Brilliant series of short mysteries.

A good collection of short stories featuring the ultimate detective, well worth a download.

The contents of this book is brilliant but there aren't all the books they haven't got the final problem!!!

Fantastic

Amazing book with lots of adventures all for the great sum of $0.00

Having known Holmes for many years its great to learn where he came from.

:(

Brilliant. Absolutely fantastic

Conan Doyle is a master as proven and the format is great

An absolute marvel of English literature now this is the kind of books I want to see the generation of today reading and most of all actually enjoying these books Arthur Conan Doyle has produced a magnificent book of unique intelligence and this should be shown to adolescent children everywhere.

The characters and stories are captivating and insightful, the imagery and detail make the puzzles and crimes that much more interesting and riddling. Would definitely read it again and again.

A collection of short stories which demonstrate the detection skills of Sherlock Holmes. The style and content will probably already be familiar to most readers. Set in Victorian Britain they are therefore dated but nevertheless make for an amusing read.

Fantastic book well written and very entertaining. I can see why this book is still read now a real classic.

V. Well written series of short stories. Addictive reading and difficult to put down. Fantastic detective methods for the time of writing, this must be where CSI and forensics began.

A really, really good book, full of adventure.

Loved it! The chapters are small enough to read one a night which is perfect as a light read before bed. You won't be disappointed!

Wasn't what I was expecting, but really enjoyed reading the stories written from Dr Watsons' point of view! Very good read.

This is a sick set of stories nuf said !

Timeless mysteries that will keep you interested until the final story.

Great book. Only detective worth bothering with all the others are boring compaired to sherlock

I was pleasently surprised by this book. After seeing films i took it upon myself to read the original and it is excellent.

Zxsbhdbhabxhshx

Truly intriguing, enthralling stories. I do love them so.

An absolutely amazing set of novels which kept me on edge throughout.

this book was boring because i only like call of duty

This collection was a wonderful read, Sherlock Holmes' use of the science of deduction was intriguing. I love this collection! Though I do wish A Study in Scarlet was included. Anyhow Sir Arthur Conan Doyle is a brilliant author and will be revered for years to come.

Bear in mind I have just started reading books again. But it was a little hard to get into reading this I guess because of the age of the book. Some times it flowed and other times it was hard to get what was going on like at the first of each book. Over all it was entertaining.

A good collection of several of Holmes's mysteries. I've read all of Sir ACD's works but it has been many years. I thoroughly enjoyed reading these select pieces again.

Even though I sometimes can't figure them out they are fun for all ages

Whether i was 10 or 50, I have always enjoyed Sir Arthur's hero, Holmes, and his partner, Watson. I recommend these stories to all.

This book of Sherlock homes isn't worth it! It is 1025 Pages long and none of those pages were worth reading because it is too confusing and to long is didn't make sense to me. And theirs a girl that Holmes wants Sherlock to fall in love with this girl that on the last page of the book is says that he didn't love the girl. Really couldn't have said that 500pages ago?! but overall I guess for mystery readers this is a great book.

This booklet was amazing don't understand why it was free

Amazing, but not nearly as complete as other versions I have read. They even left out the hounds of the Baskervilles, still it is a free book. So.... Not bad. 5 stars

This is a very great book to read. I plan on reading the others. This book to me gets the reader involved making it feel like their Mr. Watson.

Oh My GOD!!!! This book was sooooo fun!!!! Literally! :) READ IT PPL

Thoroughly entertaining. Would like to read some of the cases as full novels.

All his books are great

Although this is bad, I HATE THIS CRAP

Lots of posturing and little story telling

Brilliant book with full grasp of curiosity of the readers

I am not one to waste any time nor effort on trivial things, but the stories of Sherlock Holmes adventures are enjoyable and captivating that I found it impossible to stop until the last.

I am actually 12 years old, and I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

An entertaing set of short stories to take to bed before sleep

K so this book is great, but I guess I should have thought about the time period, before I started reading. I can't always follow what their talking about. But I guess being a fast reader doesn't help either.

This book sucked so much I hated it

This book was very good but a bit too long for me

It is an amazing book I would recommend it to anyone who likes mysteries

It is a remarkable book, although, I find it hard to understand and or follow.

I enjoyed this book very much, short story's but a part of Sherlock Homes I did not know. Very well written it keep me wanting to read more.

These are the short stories of some of Holmes's strange, outlandish, and entertaining cases.

Shermlock is so boring. All he does is investigate. He also likes importers and fake stuff.

A fascinating and truly entertaining read. Great personalities are in this book. Watson and Holmes solve a case each chapter without it being dry at all.

Way to hard for me to follow :(

I would not recommend this book to anyone unless they have a high professors degree in college who could actually understand that?

I did not even read it

It was awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Boring

This is such a wonderful book I hope you write more books

This book SUCKED!!! So BORING (JK)

I love the book but the language was very adult. It kept me going for hours and I couldn't put it down. My favorite story was the redheaded league but the one about the Ku Klux Klan came in second. Just saying I'm 12 and I learned a new word every single page. Love Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's writing and I want more.

A fantastic journey with Holmes and his faithful companion Watson. Each story is shrouded in mystery and some of the most outlandish, yet feesable, tales one could imagine. Trying to guess what comes with the next page is possible, but only if your last name is Holmes. A must read for any fan of mystery, and a very recommended read those whose intrigue lies within other genres.

I really like this novel !!! This book can Change my habit:)

It is an excellent book!! I do recommend!

I'm only in middle school and I still loved it! After you read it, it will leave you thinking. It's easy to understand but still a great book

Sherlock Holmes is an amazing detective story for all ages. I love reading all of his adventures. They're enthralling and intriguing no matter how old they are. This detective will forever be remembered! Watson, his loyal companion and author is an example of great friendship no matter what circumstances. This book is amazing.

This is the best. Makes for a great book to do book reports on and gives you stuff to read for hours, and leaves you thinking even longer.

Fantastic stories, originally appearing in a local London periodical publication in the 1800s. Great for long reading sessions as a group of stories or in short stints, as they are Doyle's short stories. Highly, highly recommended reading.

Very interesting and fast-paced for a Classic!

A great read

This book is worst book ever this was boring and I don't like it 😡

Boring

I would recommend this book to readers in their teens an are mature enough to handle minor content.

Fantastic again!!!!!!!!

This is an excellent collection of short stories. They are all very entertaining and mysterious. A very good read and a must have!
Arthur Conan Doyle - The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes Comments
Sir Arthur Ignatius Conan Doyle (22 May 1859 – 7 July 1930) was a British writer and physician. He created the character Sherlock Holmes in 1887 for A Study in Scarlet, the first of four novels and fifty-six short stories about Holmes and Dr. Watson. The Sherlock Holmes stories are milestones in the field of crime fiction. Doyle was a prolific writer; other than Holmes stories, his works include fantasy and science fiction stories about Professor Challenger, and humorous stories about the Napoleonic soldier Brigadier Gerard, as well as plays, romances, poetry, non-fiction, and historical novels. One of Doyle's early short stories, "J. Habakuk Jephson's Statement" (1884), helped to popularise the mystery of the Mary Celeste. Name Doyle is often referred to as "Sir Arthur Conan Doyle" or "Conan Doyle", implying that "Conan" is part of a compound surname rather than a middle name. His baptism entry in the register of St Mary's Cathedral, Edinburgh, gives "Arthur Ignatius Conan" as ....
