Now with over 10 million copies sold, The Mistborn Series has the thrills of a heist story, the twistiness of political intrigue, and the epic scale of a landmark fantasy saga.

For a thousand years the ash fell and no flowers bloomed. For a thousand years the Skaa slaved in misery and lived in fear. For a thousand years the Lord Ruler, the "Sliver of Infinity," reigned with absolute power and ultimate terror, divinely invincible. Then, when hope was so long lost that not even its memory remained, a terribly scarred, heart-broken half-Skaa rediscovered it in the depths of the Lord Ruler's most hellish prison. Kelsier "snapped" and found in himself the powers of a Mistborn. A brilliant thief and natural leader, he turned his talents to the ultimate caper, with the Lord Ruler himself as the mark.

Kelsier recruited the underworld's elite, the smartest and most trustworthy allomancers, each of whom shares one of his many powers, and all of whom relish a high-stakes challenge. Only then does he reveal his ultimate dream, not just the greatest heist in history, but the downfall of the divine despot.

But even with the best criminal crew ever assembled, Kel's plan looks more like the ultimate long shot, until luck brings a ragged girl named Vin into his life. Like him, she's a half-Skaa orphan, but she's lived a much harsher life. Vin has learned to expect betrayal from everyone she meets, and gotten it. She will have to learn to trust, if Kel is to help her master powers of which she never dreamed.

This saga dares to ask a simple question: What if the hero of prophecy fails?

So good. I could tell from the first chapter this was a great book, and by the end my prediction was confirmed. Highly believable characters and satisfying plot. How have I not heard of this author?

Reversdem0

Mistborn. Such an amazing book series, you'll want to read it again and again. I'm very excited to meet the author in person and have him sign my copy of this book at Phx Comicon 2013!!!! Also read Way of Kings, which is another great one!

Aynstress

Tough going. Burning copper, I turned the page, pulling iron and sneezing tin. Blah. When the world you've created is that clunky, it's never fun to read.

ShutterBugGirl83

Stellar book,. This book sucked me in until the last page (at which point I immediately purchased the 2nd book in the series). It's full of everything a fantasy book should have (sans dragons), and very well written.

Sean Bowers

One of the best!. Brandon Sanderson is a literary genius.

Missplainjane

Solid. Solid fantasy novel, I'm a fan of Robin Hobb and Robert Jordan and I found this novel to be a worth while read.

LissaBerry

Amazing!. This has been one of my favorite books ever. I fell in love within the first few pages. It’s a must read, it’s spectacular, unique and has me rereading every page like it’s the first time.

MinorT 69

The best. Can easily say this is my favorite book of all time. Have read it twice in 1 year. Now listening to audio.

Kunal00

Best fantasy book written. They are long and the World building is fantastic. I believe this book is 800 pages long and I could not put it down. I finished it in days. I like how this was not a cookie-cutter book not everyone is good or just bad the characters have layers to them

You tuber five

Great book. Fantastic writing style, very clear and easy to understand!

Shiva champ

Sanderson at his best. Although Stormlight is my favorite of his series, this is my favorite individual book. Incredible magic system and storytelling throughout, highly recommend to any fantasy fan!

Randamazium

Wow.. Simply amazing.

Rameneater12

My personal favorite book series. While one can argue stormlight is better, this book is undoubtedly incredible. A must read without a doubt

Newsreaderrr

Excellent Fantasy read. Excellent fantasy read. On the level of tolkein and such. Truly delightful Sanderson is exceptionally gifted.

Daldo333

Pretty good, not his best.... I've read a few of sandersons books- namely, the way of kings and the last few books of the wheel of time. After reading those novels, then moving to Mistborn, I was unimpressed. While the plot showed some creativity and depth, I felt the character development was lacking. I didn't feel moved by the characters, and at times felt the lack of detail left me without a clear picture of individual scenes. That said, if I'd have read this book before the way of kings or wheel of time, my expectations wouldn't have been so high. In summary, it was a quick read that was enjoyable. Sanderson is an amazing writer.

Pigfker

Popcorn read. Fine story but the characters were one-dimensional and plot points were predictable. Fast and easy read, but I’ll probably skip the rest of the trilogy.

Walker_boh

Overrated. Everyone raves about this series…maybe it was the hype that did me in. I read the whole series and thought it was mediocre overall. It just didn’t draw me in. I know I’m in the minority though. I can’t figure out why everyone is bonkers over these books. Maybe if Sanderson didn’t crank out a book every other weekend and spent more time on his world building….

Librokid

Amazing. This book was absolutely stunning. I couldn’t put it down, the plot was incredible. I highly recommend reading the next two. Most likely should read wax and Wayne though I’m only halfway through the second phase. Can’t wait for a phase 3 mistborn. Thanks Sanderson!

Joecz81

Mistborn. Honestly the best books I have ever read!

Mouse milk

Slow to start but hard to put down. Had a hard time getting through the first few pages but by the early middle and especially the end, I was consistently looking for times I could pull up my book app. Insanely unique world building and magic system that had me asking questions but never got the wrong reasons. Bought the second book right after I finished this one!!

Kelsier Vin

This series is divine!. I love this book so much! They way he tells the story is a good one. It takes you on an emotional rollercoaster. I also love the characters in this story.

Tigervibes94

A masterpiece. I’ve tried to read a few different fantasy series lately and neither of them captured my intrigue as quickly and deeply as this. From start to finish, these characters are flawed, unique, and unbelievably lovable. The world set up in this first book has the perfect amount of mystery and detail that keeps you glued to the page. My coworkers recommended this series to me a bit too enthusiastically so I was skeptical. But this was worth every single second. Do yourself favor, clear your schedule, put your devices on do not disturb, and buckle in for this incredible ride. Also, avoid googling ANYTHING, just be patient and this amazing story.

Makoto2x6

Amazing Start to this Series!!. I love the flip that Mr. Sanderson does with most of the plot happening within the city, makes for a refreshing take since in most stories, the characters are traveling a lot. In here, there’s like traveling for side jobs and stuff. The big set up. Kind of reminds me of Sly Cooper in a way.

Litbubber

The Final Empire Review. I never read books but I took a chance on this one and was blown away. I can’t wait to finish the trilogy.

Daphadil42

Perfecto!. I was really hesitant about this book at first. Re-reading it makes you realize things you wouldn’t have noticed the first time. Kel seems more like a father after re-reading it. I would definitely recommend this book for anyone. After all, that would be one less secret, although, and I quote, “There’s always another secret.” Two words for anyone who’s read the WHOLE trilogy. Book three. I do NOT regret reading this book.

Aknightwing

A good read. Slow start but picks up later on. Good read. Magic system is complex and characters are amazing.

Adbnyc

Solid book. Enjoyed the read

Hairier benn

Five out of Five. The first book of the mistborn trilogy is a great way to see all that Brandon Sanderson has to offer. The world building and magic is are just some of his skills. If you give mistborn a chance, you won't regret it.

Alycant

Mist born. Amazing! I couldn't put it down. Can't wait to read the next in the series!

Zedals

Pure MAGIC!. This book isn’t only amazing, it even playes with your friggin’ emotions. One of the rare books that I find myself truly immersed and engaged with. it’s full of twists and turns, intrigue, and action. I wish I had a time machine so I can experience this book again. If you’re an epic fantasy fan, then you must READ THIS!

ForPipo

Out of words.. This has been the book that has dragged me for hours every day. Couldn’t put it down and don’t regret it. An excellent work.

McP31

simply too long. Chop off 300 or so useless pages and its a fantasy masterpiece. Drones on about halfway through making it tough to finish. Read Joe Abercrombie instead!

AJlovesjesus

A Must Read, Thrill Ride. Every reader needs to experience this series at least once. The thrills are fantastic. Just buy it and start, couldn't recommend enough. It's in my top 5 book series of all time. That includes Harry Potter and Percy Jackson. Don't read anything about it in advance, just dive in.

Btystx

Mistborn. Good book but too long.

Dr. Edward Morbius

Mistborn. Well written and entertaining. The story moves at a good pace and had a interesting and new take on the hero mythos. The author doesn't bog you down in pages of tedious descriptions that require you to skim through the pages. He stays on point and moves the story along giving you what you need to envision his world and understand it. The two main characters have depth and understandable motivations that make their actions plausible. The "Crew" I especially enjoyed. A very good ensemble of lovable rouges in the spirit of (oddly enough) "The Sting" and the "A-Team". Well done! Looking forward to the next book of the Trilogy.

Smith2cents

Highly recommend Mistborn!. Brandon Sanderson has "rioted" my love for the fantastic, magical characters of Mistborn. This was my first epic fantasy novel and I suspect it will be a hard act for any other franchise to follow. Just good story telling. My emotions were "pushed", and "pulled" along with the characters' struggles and triumphs. For me, Vin, Kel, Saze, Dox, Marsh, Ham, and Breeze became living, breathing people who I cared about. If you come to epic fantasy for the world building then this too will not disappoint as The Final Empire is given the full treatment from its ash stained cityscapes, depressing "skaa" slums, immaculate Noblemen's keeps, to the things that creep in the misty night. It's easy to see how Brandon Sanderson has earned such a strong reputation as a story teller.

Jonesy0807

Awesome!. This trilogy is the best I've read. Mr Sanderson does an amazing job building the characters and telling the story. I recommend purchasing the whole trilogy, once you start reading this, you won't want to stop.

TJ from Reno

A must read!!. I've read everything Sanderson has written minus the kids books. This series is my all time favorite! But everything he writes is pure gold!! Steelheart was my least favorite but I still can't wait to read the sequel. The way of kings, Elantris and Warbreaker are must reads as well!

Bartzumbari

Great story, images low resolution. Great, fun story. I look forward to read the other books in the series. It's a shame the creator of this e-book couldn't be bothered to include maps with readable resolution.

Mr. Art Vandalay

Classic Fantasy Fiction Fun. This book was original, imaginative, exciting, action packed, and pulled on all my emotional strings while reading it. I loved the writing style, short, precise and too the point. Nothing felt long winded or drawn out. A must read for anyone dreaming of adventure.

That one Peson

Best book I've ever read. Just finished this for the second time before moving on to 'shadows of self' and 'bands of mourning', and it was even better this time around. There's always another secret!

Kylem80

Excellent book. Kept me glued from beginning to end.

MatrixVoom

Freaking Awesome!. I can't believe I just now discovered this book. Seriously one of the best fantasy novels. Entertaining, funny, great characters, a fully realized and detailed world. I had so much fun reading this book! And it packs a surprisingly emotional punch. Read this, don't hesitate. This sat in my queue for a long time and I can't believe I deprived myself of such an enjoyable book.

Dremwever

Spellbinding. Love the book. This is a series that I will be adding to by physical paper library!

Ambarrera

Great start to the Cosmere. I am embarking on this journey beginning with mistborn and it is a great read and tremendous fun. I can’t wait for Brandon Sanderson’s cinematic universe.

Qwakcookies

Great book. This was a great book. I actually listened to the audiobook.

Nononononoyyy

Brandon Sanderson is amazing.. I have read his other books called skyward and they are both amazing books.

Sd_dubstep

Awesome. Great book. Can't wait to read the next one

Teddy2putt

Mistborn Magic. An amazing trilogy that keeps you turning pages. Sanderson builds your investment in all the characters throughout the series. A great ready with some unpredictable plot twists.

Anwareto

Awesome but could’ve been faster.. Well time spent. Somehow expected turn of events until the very last 2 parts. Could’ve included more twists and been faster though.

Great. Loved this series. He creates a whole world in incredible detail and offers a beautiful story.

Jujitsuwarrior819

My new favourite book of all time. A fantastic fantasy book a must read!

Justinleeb

Great intro to Sanderson. This was my first Sanderson title, and opened a door to the world of fantasy for me. The depth of character and world building made it difficult to put down.

Kuriousastra

Thrilling … Enticing … Gripping. I just couldn’t put away final empire and surprisingly wrapped up the entire book, in less than a week from purchase day. Highly unlike of me, as I like to read slow and absorb the development of any fanatsy world at mild pace. However, The final empire was intriguing from page one to it's epilogue. Brandon has gracefully and profoundly woven political, philosophical, spiritual and human aspects of life with well imaginative and curated magical world. Story was griping from the first chapter and the presence of all characters seemed organic and meaningful. Have already purchased the well of ascension to explore further; this magical world infused with Mistborn Allomancers, created by ingenious and highly creative mind of Brandon Sanderson. "To be a saviour … one must first survive The pits of Hathsin."

Kman32862

5stars. Great book.

Mercolomerca

Mistborn. I love this book and the entire trilogy!

Emagsamurai

Slow start, but still a great book. I picked this book up after reading "The Way of Kings." This is a great book, but the pace is quite a bit slower than I would have hoped. I highly recommend this book none-the-less.

KevinLA

by way of Wheel of Time. I was a big fan of the Wheel of Time series and had never read Sanderson until his co-authorship with the late Robert Jordan on the last trilogy-finale of WoT. I realized that The Gathering Storm was one of my favorites in the WoT series so concluded Sanderson might deserve a bit if credit for that. I tried Mistborn, as a result, and I have to say I was not disappointed. I am anxious to continue with the remaining books in the trilogy and happy to have found another great writer to seek out when I need a good sci-fi/fantasy fix.

Rokushi

Amazing. This is the 2nd book in my opinion to stand out to me. The story gave me rushes of emotions and feeling. The scenes are very well discript and the characters are indept. I recommend this book to anyone who is looking for an enticing and grabbing read.

Wjchristensen3

Intelligent Fiction. The series starts in the first book with the overthrow of an empire, looking in books 2 & 3 at what comes *after* that overthrow. I found the series to be well written, and the plot thoughtful and intelligently designed. A few instances of anachronistic language and several typographic errors (they look like OCR errors?) in the later books drop the score down to 4 stars. I recommend this series without reservation.

Rile102

Misborn. Great read

Xinigomiranda.

Mesmerizing and Powerful.. Mistborn is definitely a Page-Turner. While reading the book, I frequently lost track of time. It is exhilarating and well paced. It details the scenes accurately so you won't have a hard time visualizing what's happening and knowing what the author's been talking about. It is an interesting story that will surely get you hooked. The author, Brandon Sanderson, gives life to the characters. As you read, you'll start to get to know them. To care for them. To love them. He gives the characters memorable personalities so that the reader could really connect to them. You might find in some parts of the book that what they did is perfectly justifiable because that'll be exactly what you'll do if you're the character and in the given situation. Most of you will say that he can really understand what the character is going through. Their arguments, valid. Their philosophies, relatable. Mistborn is Unpredictable. One moment you're absolutely sure to yourself that this is what's going to happen and the next, it'll surprise you. You won't resist thinking what's gonna happen but I encourage you to ride along and let it surprise you, for it will. The experience of reading Mistborn is really fun. It tickles your curiosity and play with your emotions all while sucking you to it's mysterious world. Kudos Brandon Sanderson!

Weazeloly

A must read. If you like sci-fi/fantasy I recommend reading all of sandersons books, a great imaginative author, captures me everytime

Zphotoguy

Brandon Sanderson = Epic Fantasy Genius. This is the first book that I ever read from Brandon Sanderson's ever growing amount of books. I've read everything he has ever written now, because of this incredible story that had me on my couch for nearly 30 hours. All in two days. Buy this book and you will not regret it. Heck, buy ANY book released by Sanderson and you will be ever pleased.

HelloWorld13579

Superb. A fantastic book. I couldn't put it down. The characters are real and the plot is captivating.

Narezza

Really great book, love the innovative 'magic'. This is one of my new favorite books and I'm looking forward to completing the series. I started reading Sanderson after WoT, and I haven't need disappointed yet. Only one small issue for me was the use of the word 'maladroitly'. Four uses in this book was a little much.

TSHERM1

A Pleasant Surprise!!!. My first Fantasy series was WOT and I did not even know of Brandon Sanderson until he undertook the burden of finishing that series. Finding a very enjoyable flow to his writing I decided to check out his other novels...First Elantris and now the Mistborn series. I honestly never thought that another series could captivate my imagination and leave me as thoroughly immersed in the story as WOT, however, Sanderson is a true talent in this genre of story telling, and the Mistborn series is rising to become my favorite. The depth of the story and the detail in it's characters is hypnotic in it's appeal to the reader. A must read for Fantasy addicts and a strong recommendation for book lovers everywhere.

Kennedystunts

Breathtakingly imaginative storytelling. What an honor to read something so creative and imaginative. I could not stop feeling a sense of gratitude and satisfaction at the end of this first novel in the Mistborn trilogy. The discoveries you make, the journey of the characters' developments, purely enjoyable. Sanderson has emerged as the top dog in the fantasy game thus far. His first novel in the stormlight archive is the single best book I've ever read. To come along and read another book of his and be this satisfied by the originality, is simply foreign to most fantasy writers. He is known most by his completion of the wheel of time series. However these books, elantris, way of kings and future stormlight books, in my opinion, will completely eclipse the spotlight Jordan has achieved from his storytelling. Some people say Sanderson is almost to Jordan's level. No No No. Jordan pales in comparison. JRR tolkein is a household hand for fantasy. A few years from now, Sanderson will have achieved the same.

Draret

Great. Great book as is. The entire trilogy. This is a writer at the top of his game! You cannot make a mistake reading the Mistborn Triolgy

Undiwear3

Must Buy!!!. This trilogy is one of my favorites. Sanderson has a fantastic way of wording complex visuals with an effortless vocabulary. One of the few authors that can really draw you completely into a story. His world building skills are some of the best I have ever seen. He really puts some of the popular fantasy books, like Harry Potter, to shame with his characters and magics.

Partypeaches12121

Great Series. I've finished the first two books and this is the best fantasy series I have ever read. Extremely approachable for non-hardcore fantasy readers. One gripe I always have with some fantasy books is that they slow down for large periods as they try and set up the plot. Sanderson has a way of maintaining a significant pace while still having a very deep plot with well built out characters. Loved these books and will read a lot more of Sanderson.

Heebxudhdu

Fantastic. It's The Hunger Games without the corny romance, add in some "realistic" magic that is neither needlessly confusing nor ostentatious. A plot progression that matches the protagonist's character development that'll move fast enough to keep even the shortest of attention spans hooked. Well done Sanderson, well done.

Ryan A Taurant

Selective. When I heard that someone had been chosen to take over the Wheel of Time series, I thought, "Who's this Brandon Sanderson joker think he is?!?". After reading his first foray into my favorite fantasy series, I was intrigued, and looked for his other works. Mistborn blew me away. With this one book, Brandon Sanderson cemented himself among my favorites. Within the first 200 pages, he had gained a fan for life, and a tireless promoter of his work. I have devoured everything that this author has written, and am now revisiting his work for a third time, just as amazed and engrossed as the first time. If you are looking for a SciFi/Fantasy author, then look no further. The characters and plot lines started in Mistborn will lead you on a journey both mental and emotional, and will draw you into a world as vibrant and alive as any you could imagine yourself.
