From #1 New York Times bestselling author Brandon Sanderson, The Way of Kings, Book One of the Stormlight Archive begins an incredible new saga of epic proportion.

Roshar is a world of stone and storms. Uncanny tempests of incredible power sweep across the rocky terrain so frequently that they have shaped ecology and civilization alike. Animals hide in shells, trees pull in branches, and grass retracts into the soilless ground. Cities are built only where the topography offers shelter.

It has been centuries since the fall of the ten consecrated orders known as the Knights Radiant, but their Shardblades and Shardplate remain: mystical swords and suits of armor that transform ordinary men into near-invincible warriors. Men trade kingdoms for Shardblades. Wars were fought for them, and won by them.

One such war rages on a ruined landscape called the Shattered Plains. There, Kaladin, who traded his medical apprenticeship for a spear to protect his little brother, has been reduced to slavery. In a war that makes no sense, where ten armies fight separately against a single foe, he struggles to save his men and to fathom the leaders who consider them expendable.

Brightlord Dalinar Kholin commands one of those other armies. Like his brother, the late king, he is fascinated by an ancient text called The Way of Kings. Troubled by over-powering visions of ancient times and the Knights Radiant, he has begun to doubt his own sanity.

Across the ocean, an untried young woman named Shallan seeks to train under an eminent scholar and notorious heretic, Dalinar's niece, Jasnah. Though she genuinely loves learning, Shallan's motives are less than pure. As she plans a daring theft, her research for Jasnah hints at secrets of the Knights Radiant and the true cause of the war.

The result of over ten years of planning, writing, and world-building, The Way of Kings is but the opening movement of the Stormlight Archive, a bold masterpiece in the making.

Speak again the ancient oaths:

Life before death.
Strength before weakness.
Journey before Destination.

and return to men the Shards they once bore.

The Knights Radiant must stand again.

Enthralling epic you don’t want to put down. This book was recommended to me by a friend. Rather dubious, I purchased it. I was hooked almost instantly. The author expertly weaves multiple stories together with awesome ease. I couldn’t stop reading. It is books like these that inspire me and provide the best entertainment. Well worth the price.

⭐️Amazing book⭐️. The world building, magic system, and characters are all incredible. I’ve highly enjoyed this series so far. It builds up to a dramatic ending. Worth the read. Though it is a bit hard to read, it’s worth finishing it. The next books are also amazing 🤩 .

Wookie_jedi

The very best. This book and it’s sequels are the best fantasy books of this day

Way of Kings is fascinating!. Incredible! It may take a bit of reading to get into the flow of this amazing tale, but well worth the effort!

THE L4ST DRAG0N

This is the Way.. A modern fantasy epic with a fully realized world inhabited by realistic and relatable characters. The story’s essence is the struggle against our worst tendencies and base desires. To become better versions of ourselves for the greater good. Unfortunately to achieve the greater good we must first overcome a greater evil, and evil has its own agenda. The stakes couldn’t be higher. Give this book a try and you’ll be at the end before you realize it. And you most likely won’t be disappointed.

CP199022

Unlocked a New Universe. Fast paced initial saga that is hard to put down.

MariaandMurphy

Didn’t know what to expect. I absolutely loved this book. Couldn’t put it down. I typically don’t like not understanding what’s going on when I’m reading a book, but this story is fantastic. I found myself highlighting whole passages that just spoke to me. Fantasy at its finest.

Jojo62749938472848

Good book!. This is a good book but felt very long.

Electictadpol

WOW. Amazing pay off. I was a little slow to get into this book but man was it worth it.

Chris Mathwig

Good read. I enjoyed book one and look forward to Book 2!

Unapegisisacorn

Awesome!. You have to trust him on this one! It is a little slow in the beginning but just keep going! It is totally worth it!

Caterina rs

Absolutely epic. Brandon has a way with words that is truly unlike any other. This is by far the most EPIC story I have ever read, through and through. The beginning is slow, but it is so beyond worth it and pertinent to the story. You grow with the characters and the passion in Brandon’s writing is so evident. I truly felt like I was there with the characters. You feel their bravery, passion, courage, hatred, sadness, as if you were them and the bond that forms between the characters and the reader is unlike any other. This is an incredible series and is beyond worth reading. Thank you, Brandon. Life before death.

Sängermann09

Re-readable!. I just finished “The Rhythm of War” and decided I needed to re-read the series. And boy am I glad I did. The amount of planning Sanderson put into these works is nothing short of spectacular. I guess now I have to go back and re-read the rest of the cosmere collection too.

Loyal Player14

Great Series. I did not say “Great BOOK” I said Great Series”. Now, please know that I’m NOT complaining about this book. This book specifically has kind of a slow build to it but gets better and better. When you meet “The Assassin In White”, you’ll love his story. You’ll love Shallan’s, Adolin, Dalinar, Navani (I personally don’t like her but I know that many other people do and that I’m probably the weird one) and Kaladin along with all there Spren. I love all the characters except Navani and sometimes I tolerate Shallan. I just feel like my favorite MAIN character (Kaladin) has such a SLOW build in this book. The rest of the books its not like that. You’ll feel all kinds of emotions reading this book and series. Again, I’m NOT whining about the book, I just feel like Kaladin’s story could have gone a little bit quicker. One of my most fun series that I would recommend to my friends.

Oodd B Narr

Loved it!. Best book I’ve read in a very long time. Get the chills just thinking about it.

CDavidBJr

Disappointed. Take out about ⅔ of the words and it would be a pretty good book, except for the ending, which doesn’t wrap up a single story line. I will not read the sequels.

Christie_9861

Horrible!. I had no idea this author was Mormon when i picked up the book but 10% of the way in I recognized the traumatic retelling of the religion of my childhood. Disgusting. Not what anyone wants in a fantasy book!! I want my money back!!

Lordlestibournes

Worth it. While I recommend reading the mistborn trilogy first, the Stormlight archive really is a recommendation to all fantasy fans. Yes, the book is over 1,000 pages long - but it pays off in the end. And if you immerse yourself in the world and follow the journeys alongside the characters, you’ll find yourself wanting more.

Chroniuminus

Amazing. This book was absolutely phenomenal. I couldn’t put it down, and when I managed to do so, I couldn’t stop thinking about it. INCREDIBLE

Eorlong

Epic!. Second time I’m reading this series! Simply epic!

Ghostwriter63

Loved it. Great and dense book

Wolfpup98

Wowzer.. Usually when I read, I only see the characters floating in darkness. I'm glad I got to spend some time in a world that I could see completely, vividly, in my head.

Bdjdishskshucjd

Mm. It good

Pastor Scoggin

Don’t miss this!. Out of this world!

Expert_Square_Dancer:)

A stunning epic. Yes, this book is BIG. But this is definitely on my favorite books of all time list, and I have read a LOT (and I mean a *LOT*) of books. I especially love how Sanderson deals with the different characters’ psychology. Kaladin has a lot of trauma and I can UNDERSTAND what he’s going through. Dalinar is trying to become a better person and I’m sure a lot of us can relate to that. Shallan’s has a job to do to save the people she cares about, but can she really pull it off? (She gets more mental hardships later on, trust me.) Then the setting is incredible! Roshar is a fresh new world for anyone who feels like they’ve seen all the fantasy worlds. It’s not only just cool, but there’s so much depth to it! This story has real heroes that you’ll root for, villains you’ll despise, people that take a while before you can decide which side they’re on, beautiful artwork, and a plot line that’s more complicated than it seems at first glance. That was really long, but I totally recommend! Five stars!

Fshnutz

What a masterpiece. My God, has there ever been a better character than Kaladin? This book must be read.

Cheesebag420

great read. amazing page turner. could not set it down. loveable characters.

SamTheTruthless

Fantasy at its best.. Game of Thrones is one of my favorite series yet I somehow was ignorant of this amazing series. If you liked Game of Thrones, this series is for you; everything from war, battles, political plotting, and ultimately, an extremely interesting world and lord. Sanderson has created something sensational and I can’t wait to read the rest of the books.

Ferret_bard

The Final Crisis is Worth the Long Slog. This review was first published on Kurt's Frontier. Synopsis: Roshar is a world in flux. The king has been assassinated. The kingdom of Alethkar is now at war but does not fight for victory. The high lords divide the kingdom, and paranoia drives the new king. High Prince Dalinar Kholin sees visions of the ancient past, warning him to unite the kingdom. Yet his thirst for war has waned. Kaladin trained a surgeon, became a soldier, and is now a slave running bridges after being betrayed by someone he trusted. Shallan is a scholar, sent to gain someone’s trust to steal a powerful artifact. Szeth, the assassin who started it all, is a killer who feels each murder he commits. Yet something powerful and dangerous looms on the horizon. The great desolation is coming. Review: Brandon Sanderson is a master world builder. The details of his land are rich and creative. I found the characters interesting as he wove interconnecting plots. However, the story itself is quite dense. I use the term dense to say that it is very difficult to move through. I’ve read long books before. This one was like wading through deep snow. Hard to move through and exhausting. Not a page turn that I can’t put down, nor was I anxious to get back to it. The book 1252 pages long. The author could have broken it into two or three books that would have been much easier to get through. The book’s action scenes are quite good, however. His vivid descriptions don’t disappoint, and the final crisis is worth the long slog.

The thinker 96

Must read. One of the best books I have ever read

Old Man Jojo

The storm approaches…. Was recommended this series by a friend and lord almighty I owe that friend my life now! I’m not much of a book reader; more videogame JRPG reader if anything, but man this book is really good! To you, person who’s reading this review, treat yourself a little bit and buy “The Way of Kings” and remember to be kind everyone you meet! You never know when the next bridgerun will be! :P

Simply Amazing. Gripped me tighter than any piece of literature before. Read it.

Iphone-user-181903

Amazing!. Just like just about any other book written by Brandon Sanderson, “The Way of Kings” absolutely amazes me. Rich world building, characters with one-in-a-million personalities (not to mention their extensive and interesting arcs), lengthy plot and subplots, as well as very exotic scenery come together in this novel. They form a work of art: epic fantasy. Of course, if you can’t handle about 1,000 pages of content or the epic fantasy story, this may not be the book for you. However, if fantasy, complex magic systems, and discovering a vibrant world that Sanderson creates and describes so wonderfully is right up your alley, I 100% recommend this book.

Jairo A.

Excellent Read - True Page Turner. I don’t want to write to much, but this novel is on of my favorite. I’ve read if twice. It is a great read, easy to understand, yet immersive. I highly recommend for anyone who loves fantasy novels. You won’t regret it!

Tittygrabber

Most compelling read in fantasy genre. I was hooked the whole time and could not put it down. What a roller coaster of emotions. Sanderson and his ability to create characters is amazing!

Onecolorist

Astounding!. Rarely have I been so captivated! The world building, the characters, are on another level. Loved every word!

HisMajestyClay

Life-changing Epic. I can't even begin to describe how amazing this book is, the depth of the main characters could hold the book together on its own, but Sanderson's main strength is the world building. Be prepared to dive head first into Roshar and it's storm-battered uniqueness, love this book and I will most definitely be binging this series!

Mr Toner

Drawn in completely. It was tough going at first — assimilating a whole new vocabulary, — but I was eventually drawn into the story in such a way that compelled me to read hours at a time. Can’t wait to start the next volume!

Marvin Lomeli

Long but worth it. This book is very long and takes a lot of time of works building. But it pays off at the end! It’s worth a read if you enjoy fantasy.

Blaurss45

Incredible. What a fun new world to dive into. 10/10 recommend.

TigersJC86

What an epic. This book has a lot to say and it’s a big one. I did enjoy this book quite a bit it’s main characters felt fleshed out and backstory was well supplied. I do feel parts probably could’ve been edited out but maybe it’ll be important later in the series

ManuCR18

My favorite new saga. Everything this man writes feels so alive!

16Soulja

Awesome. Fantastic book.

The idiot at school

Amaaaaaaaaazing!!!!!. You cannot go wrong. It may be long, but the ending is perfect. Great starter to the new series. If you don’t like long books, still read it. I cannot stress how well plotted out this book was. Chef’s kiss.

MistahC

Brilliant. Wasn’t too big of a book reader but after constantly being told to read this series by a close friend, I finally caved. That turned out to be the best decision I’ve ever made. This book is by far the best I’ve ever read and I’m constantly reading every minute I can. Love this and can’t wait to read the others!

amazing. This book is amazing. I've read it probably 5-6 times so far since I first got it a few years back as a gift. It may be 1000 pages but you will finish the book in a week. It keeps you on the edge, makes you want to read on the find out what will happen. This is a must have for any fantasy lover. This world this book is in is so original and amazing, there are no words to describe it. I had to purchase the iPad version to preserve the actual book. Only a few more months for the release of the next book :') (happy tear)

Justinleeb

Kaladin The Stoic. This was my second Sanderson Series after reading Mistborn. They’re long books but I flew through them and as soon as I finished one from the series I jumped on the next. I think I read the first 3 books in 10 days (quarantined). I’ve preordered the 4h expected Nov 2020. Sanderson is now the benchmark I measure other fantasy stories against.

NOTJUSTYOURAVERAGESPREN

I WISH I COULD READ THIS FOR THE FIRST TIME AGAIN. THE BEST OF JORDAN, TOLKIEN, HERBERT, AND SOPHOCLES EXPLODING INTO A KALEIDOSCOPE OF SCINTILLATING WONDER, CATHARTIC CONFLICT, AND HYSTERICAL SITUATIONAL HUMOUR. THIS BOOK HAD ME GRINNING FROM EAR TO EAR, PUMPING MY FISTS, AND CLEANING THE BATHROOM OVER AND OVER SO I COULD TALK TO MYSELF ABOUT WHAT I JUST EXPERIENCED.

KarlAsmar

Loving it. The only bad thing about this book is that the sequel is only half as long! Read it, if you've ever enjoyed Sanderson this is by far his best work

Dewwy_32

Terrible. Can’t tell what is going on half the time takes way to long to tie the characters together

Cmariiie

A series to cherish. A fantastically original, detailed world with vivid characters that pull you in. I was enraptured. If you love fantasy, I beg you read this.

Carlos52101

Goodjob. Bery beru good book

Tigclone

Thank you!. This is truly one of his best books yet!

My favourite book. I have read this book 4 times already. My only regret is that I discovered this book too early. Now I have to wait for ALL NINE of the rest to be released.

One of my favorite books. Really loved it, can’t wait for rhythm of war!

The next big thing.. I don’t know what to say. The Way of Kings is the start of one of my new favorite series. Brandon Sanderson created a world so rich with detail, creativity, and depth in just one book and there are still a whopping NINE books to go. After reading just one of these books I feel like I’ve read a whole series while, at the same time, feeling like there is so much more to discover. Kaladin, Shallan, and Dalinar are all characters that I’ve come to love and care for. There were times where I felt certain chapters were getting a little repetitive and I couldn’t see where the overall story was headed, but by the end of the book everything starts to make sense. Every piece of this story falls perfectly into place where it needs to be. There is nothing I can say that can do this book justice—but to anyone that is interested in dipping their feet deeper into epic high fantasy, pick up The Stormlight Archive immediately. I cannot recommend it enough.

Sigusen

Great ability to tell a story. These two books (so far) are some of the very best books I have ever read. Mr. Sanderson's ability to portray this world is both subtle and profound; there's one scene where he describes a weird, alien flora this character is examining. She asks for the name of the plant: 'grass' - the sudden realization that this alien thing was actually something so familiar was a powerful moment. Caveat: the beginning of the first book is somewhat slow; I had trouble getting through it. There is a lot of set up to this story. But, I am extremely glad I did make it through: the rest of the first book, and the entirety of the second were absolutely outstanding. I ripped through the second book in just a few days.

Great book. I love this book

Loved it!. This is the beginning of a wonderful adventure...enjoy!

Arcalim

Stormlight. One of the best books I have read. Love what he does with character development. The foreshadowing is crazy so many small pieces that line up so perfectly. Will not get the full scope of the plot behind the scenes unless you pay a visit to his website.

Praiyz

Splendid. I've always been a fan of fantasy and this had me whipped

LittleBeckyJ

Wonderful book. I loved this book. It is worth of long night I stayed up trying to finish it!

Tal5352

One of the best stories out there right now. The way of the kings is an immense book. It starts very slowly and it’s hard to keep up with characters in the beginning. For instance one Character is brooding a lot while the other character appears sheepish. However if you remain invested for first couple of chapters, boy you are in for treat. The story moves later with great character development. It has a satisfying conclusion and sets up the later books nicely. Overall a must read if you are an epic fantasy man.

Schweppesy

A great yarn. I love Sanderson for his ability to create worlds with convincing fantasies. I’m pulled through the story by the mystery he expertly hangs off of his premise. His characters in this are sometimes a bit insufferable .. I find myself rushing through the paragraphs of self reflection, looking for the actions. For me, this book could easily lose 100 pages of exposition without consequence. That said, the actions and story absolutely stand on their own and make for an exciting read. The Way of Kings loses one star for pacing, but still stands out as a fun little read. I will absolutely go buy the next novel in the series.

MatrixVoom

Masterpiece of Fantasy. I must admit, I hated this book the first two times I tried to read it. Yes, two! Fantasy writers usually try three different ways to get you into their world: 1) take your world and give it a fantasy dimension (Harry Potter), 2) throw you into the world but you discover it with a familiar type character and explain it through them (The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings), or 3) just throw you in the world and figure it out. This book is the third and is rather difficult to get into, especially if you are not a frequent fantasy reader. But with patience, this book really delivers! Yes, I really did not fully get it until probably 500 pages into it. Yes, it was probably shy too long, but not really once you get it. It's epic, it's literary, it's a masterpiece, it's writing and story building that rivals the best Fantasy has to offer. And like his series, Mistborn, is very entertaining. I loved it and the second book confirms Mr. Sanderson as the greatest fantasy author of our time.

Bella9991

Masterpiece. My new favorite book. Once I was a few chapters in I started to understand the world better and fell in love with the characters and Brandon Sanderson’s style. So well written and thoughtful.

Tincan987

The way of kings. Loved this series!

Fantastic. One of the best books I've ever read

Good. The best book I have read in a while

ShootForTheEdit

The epic fantasy I’ve been looking for. I've said this before in other reviews, but many books considered to be "epic fantasy" tend to be lacking the "epic" part. They get bogged down in details and world building, spending so much time telling the backstories of the characters and locations, or taking an entire page to describe a single room, that next thing you know, you're about 20 or 30 percent in to the book and nothing has happened. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with world building, but you gotta pace yourself, spread it out. Don't just have the first quarter of your book be a giant info dump of exposition. I'm a fan of books that keep things moving, and this is why I love The Way of Kings. I was not prepared for the amount of action in this book, but loved it all the more for it. On top of the multiple set pieces throughout the whole book, the last 20%, or so, is seemingly nonstop action culminating in a finally with multiple revelations that make me want to jump right into book 2. Truly epic in every sense of the word. And its world building is brilliantly woven into the narrative. You're not just getting a bunch of information dumped on you all at once, explaining how things are, you're discovering it for yourself throughout the story through context. You're not just told how the magic works, you learn how it works by the way it's used. Same with the characters, you're not just told what type of person they are, their actions and their dialogue show you what kind of person they are. A note for those who are not yet familiar with The Stormlight Archive series: The books in this series are massive and will definitely require some dedication on your part to get through, but you will be rewarded with a truly epic fantasy.

Fred Gibson

the best. can't believe how much this book surprised me. wonderful characters and world. one of the best books i've ever read.

The way of kings. Excellent read. Engaging enough for me to buy the next book in the series to determine what happens next.

Tittygrabber

Most compelling read in fantasy genre. I was hooked the whole time and could not put it down. What a roller coaster of emotions. Sanderson and his ability to create characters is amazing!

RevManFullThrottle

Amazing world. The characters and world Brian creates are, in a word, astounding. You get to know each like a long lost old friend. You feel their pains and joys along with them. You quickly come to care for their world as you would your own, which is is thanks to Brian for creating it and sharing it with us. I have spent so many hours feeling the storms roll over me, the thrill of flight, and the hope of a better tomorrow that this world offers us, and greatly look forward to the time in the future I will spend in his world and among his characters. Thank you for this world to be added to the others I live in among my mind Brian.

Killerpastry2

Incredible. One of my top 5 books.. Don't hesitate in reading this book. It has everything I look for in a book and Brandon Sanderson is a genius.

Paulshon

My favorite fantasy book series. One of my favorite book reads ever. My favorite fantasy book by far. The stories told throughout is done very well and Brandon does an excellent job of wrapping up the story of this book and transitioning to Words of Radiance. I can’t decide which story I love better; Shallan Davar’s, Kaladin Stormblessed’s or Dallinar’s. Amazing book! I have read it 3 times and I’m gonna go for a forth!!!

Words over my hammy

Incredible. Wow this story and universe are amazing! Once I started I couldn’t put the book down!

A Book You Will Not Soon Forget. I loved this book, one of the best epic fantasies I’ve read in a long time. This was the first time I read a Brandon Sanderson story, and I’m hooked on him. The Way of Kings, Book One of the Stormlight Archive, is an immense, epic adventure that takes place in a world that is both believable and like no other. Sanderson has crafted a fantasy with characters, places, creatures, religion, culture, and geography, all explained in elaborate detail, but never in a way that interferes with the action and the progress of the story. He gives you just enough information a little at a time to allow you to understand events taking place without overburdening you with detailed descriptions all at once. (Okay, maybe at the very beginning you won’t understand everything, but you will as the story continues.) The way he develops characters as the story progresses is excellent. The male and female characters are powerful, complex, and realistic, each with their unique traits. Mostly, you will want to read more. I was never bored or lost interest during the LONG reading time to complete this book. This is a must-read. If all his books in the series are this good, it will rank among the top fantasies of all time.

S0godlike

Awesome. Super. Dooper. Fun. The Best

Snowninja420

Epic beyond words. I am so thankful this book was written. It is such an epic tale with fascinating characters and abilities. It is laced with valuable life messages intertwined throughout a immensely imaginative and magical tale. I can not wait to read the rest of Brandon's books. Yes!

Findaddy16

Awesome!. The way of kings and the sequel are two of my all-time favorites. Do yourself a favor and read them! God I hope there’s a movie or an HBO series on the Stormlight Chronicles. Great stuff.

Popo Popo Popo popozilla

Way of the Kings. Best book i have read! Loved it so much i think i might read it again.

Bzdura

Awesome book.. Awesome book. Completely engaging.

ErodenV

I absolutely love this book. I've read most of Brandon's books so far and I've loved them all, but I think the stormlight archive is what he's always wanted to write. An epic suits his writing style and he's did a masterful job with this book as well as the follow up. Definitely worth a read

Jonesy0807

Amazing!. This series is awesome! Brandon's world creating ability is on point. Not to mention the way he makes you love the characters.

ChairSuck!

Another great book from Sanderson. After reading the Mistborn series, I had to try this book and he sure did not disappoint. If you are on the fence about this book, just read it. Just make sure you don't have any important projects coming up on your calendar because you will be staying up late nights trying to finish it. You have been warned ;)

KeedaTheReader

Great series. Highly recommend this series. Great character building if you love to get so attached that you will cry or at least I did.

Urban Cowgirl2

The Way Of Kings.. Hard to put down. The strange words and names helps the reader to use the imagination to visualize people ,places and actions. I loved it!

Wow. This book is just wow. Brilliant ending. I'm really excited for book two and the rest of the story.

Astonishing. By far one of the best books I’ve ever read. It shows personal struggle with morality, and accepting the things beyond one’s control. The perfect read for someone who appreciates doing what’s right because it is right.

That's Lord Warcrown to you!

Epic. Love the dynamics of the world that the author has created. I can't get enough of this series!

Incredible absolutely Incredible. This book got me back into reading and made me feel like a little kid reading through Harry Potter again. This series is majestic, legendary, gripping, and such an incredible story! Can't wait to continue the story.

Hgbfbghndbulkggnfsswkg

Fantastic Novel. Every single modern book tries to tackle vans encapsulate the issues of the 21st century through the scope of fiction, and though that seems like a great idea, it often just seems forced and bland, taking away from the story rather than adding to it. The Way of Kong’s is the exception to that rule. Sanderson expertly creates a world in which the color of your eyes decides your position in society, however this fact of life is woven into the story so that it doesn’t stick out so boisterously as it does in usual novels. On top of that the world is just so intricate. With an infant magic system, I assumed Sanderson would have trouble creating a world that was complex enough to be enjoyable, and I couldn’t have been more wrong. By creating a world in which every culture is different, and that difference is also explored actively by characters, Sanderson makes up for the lacking complexity of the magic system. Simply as a cherry on top, Sanderson completely nails the different perspectives of the book. Usually when I read, I like to read from the perspectives of the Kaladins of the fiction world, simply because, as a young man, I can relate most to young men. However, Shallan is simply so intriguing and complex that I can’t help but look forward to every one of her chapters. Quite honestly, I have no complaints about this book, I mean this is truly a masterpiece of literature that is a MUST READ. I will mention just as a side note that it is NOT a solo novel and we get nothing close to a conclusion in the first book. It doesn’t take away from the story, just don’t start the first book hoping for a quick read.

Amazing Book!!!!!. Love this book so much, its one of my favorties. Though it may seem to start a little slow, it then puts the petal to the metal and never looks back. Book 2 is also a great read and Im not quite sure which is my favorite between them. Cannot recommend enough.

A masterful work of art. From the very first page and all the way through, I was immersed in an incredible world and a fantastic story. When I first picked up this book, I did not expect it to be this good. Now that I’ve finished it (I will, of course, continue reading the series) I wish I could experience the journey for the first time again! The Way of Kings is nothing short of superb. A must-read for a fantasy fan.

An Amazingly Captivating Work of Fantasy. The Way of Kings is a book which demands the respect of any Fantasy lover. It truly embraces the unlimited creativity available to it in this genre, and embraces a beautifully created world in Sanderson’s Cosmere. The characters of this series are captivating and unique. Their intricate backgrounds and unique goals never allow the story to feel droning or one-dimensional, but instead make one wish the book were longer. I would encourage anyone —wether a fan of Fantasy or not— to enjoy Brandon Sanderson’s writing in The Way of Kings. A book which quickly captivated my heart, and my view on writing as a whole.

So good. Great set up to start an epic series. I'm hooked.

Great Epic Series. With the Stormlight Archive, Sanderson proves that he knows how to weave a fantasy world of epic proportions. The Way of Kings sets the table, leaving you hungry for more. Words of Radiance draws you in deeper, revealing just enough to keep you engaged yet satisfied at the same time. I can't wait for the next book in the series.

Couldn’t finish. I really tried with this book. Convoluted. The flashbacks came too early in character development. The Spren magic was infantile.

ROMO.3

Amazing. This is my all time favorite book! I love the intricate world, and am excited for the rest of the series.

So Good. I didn't think I'd find anything I liked as much as "A Song of Ice and Fire" ... I was, happily, proven wrong.

Took several false starts; but worth it. After reading Brandon’s Mistborn series through two eras I decided to dig into this series. Coming from Mistborn I was not prepared from the much slower pacing and the seemingly incessant stream of bad luck that befalls Kaladin after a very action hero treatment of the protagonists of Mistborn. Shifting to Dalinar/Adolin after becoming so invested in Kaladin and Shallan was a shock, as well. However, as only Branson can, he brought all the seemingly disparate storylines together in a most satisfying way, giving us payoff after payoff as we approach the end. I don’t fault if people don’t enjoy it the first time. It definitely took me multiple tries, but after you conquer the structure of the first book, the next two books roll by in too short a time.
