Wow. This is book got me hooked on it I can't stop reading it.

Free to Die. Gripping from the start to the finish. Different from the usual read. Enjoyed the characters and the plot.

One Chapter. I am not a writer. Because I am a voriacious reader, however, perhaps my opinion is valid. The story could have been told in less than a chapter. It’s that shallow. The descriptions are repetitive and boring. It took no time at all to get tired of Brad’s trembling hands and Josie’s upthrust breasts. The dialogue isn’t. Don’t waste your time or money.

I describe it as 'Meh'. First of all, the main character is portrayed as a middle-aged man with excellent physical combat skills & sexy physique. But it keeps referring to his history of Vietnam war which was 40 years ago and which would put him at age 60+... The romance story line is not romantic at all and is a little awkward. The beginning tries to be mysterious but is too vague--it's hard to get interested because you can't even tell what's going on. I wouldn't recommend

Not all there!. Several chapters are missing several pages at the end because one chapter even had a hyphen for a word split in half & it did carry over to the next page. Who checks these things? Otherwise a good story.

Cracking story. Good read. Interesting plot that was interesting enough to keep me guessing for most of the book. Could easily have a sequel with the two main characters.

Ok. An ok read, and one or two good characters, but quite frustrating at times... I admit I scanned through the pages of more than one car chase / battle because I was either confused or bored. There were also a few scenarios that I was very skeptical about - it's a bit improbable at times. That said, the fast pace did mean I wanted to get back to the book - or keep reading after normal bedtime - in order to finish it.

Free to die. A compelling novel. The main character, Brad Ashton, is likeable and wins your support over very early. The storyline is narrow, the proof of his innocence, but there are several alleys of investigation that lead into the central plot, I am reminded of the character Jack Reacher. I will now investigate Bob McElwains other works.

Decent plot and story needs better editing. While I enjoyed reading Free to Die, I constantly became hung up on one glaring error in style/usage: the author insisted on using "have" in too many contractions. The result was a stilted, unrealistic, jarring conversational style. Unfortunately I can't go back to look up examples without losing what I've already written, but here's an example of my own to illustrate the point. "I've not had a bite to eat in days." That's fine for a pretentious society matron, but not for a 30-year career police detective. Sentences like that were littered throughout the book, spoken by all the characters. People just don't talk like that. It's something a good editor would have caught. And it's a shame because it distracted from an otherwise fast-paced and enjoyable read.

Not a bad story, but has issues. Overall, the story is not bad, and for free, the book is certainly entertaining. But the author did not do the proper research (the aforementioned issue with the CIA) and ultimately, that hurts the story. Much of the dialog is written in a more academic way; technically proper, but not how people actually speak to one another. For example, I've seen the exclamation "posh" used in older literature, but I've never known anyone to actually use the term in spoken English. There are numerous other examples. There were also several editorial errors with misspellings, Incorrect words, or incorrect names used, which made the story difficult to read in spots. But the story is entertaining and the characters were well developed. If you can overlook the shortcomings, it is worth a look.

Pretty good. Good story line and stood writing style. There were a few errors that made certain parts hard to follow. I found the main character, Brad, to be a little to sentimental/wimpy in certain sections but not all the time. Most readers I know prefer a manly man who learns to be sentimental. Overall a good read.
