Killing Floor. A friend has been reading this series over the years and when I was looking for a book to read while on vacation I decided to give the first book in the series a try, it was a very good story and kept me interested the whole way through. I'm going to download the second book Die Trying next.

Killing Floor. Fast paced and gripping! Quite the nailbiting yarn.

Terrible. If you have zero experience with the military, law enforcement, or the justice system you might find this book tolerable. Every time the author mentions the military he gets it completely wrong. From what MP officers do to how duty stations change. It’s as if the closest he’s ever gotten to any of his subject matter is simply reading other poorly written beach books. Badly written and completely lacking any credibility - this book is a dud.

Passable, but...... Just saw the "Jack Reacher" movie starring Tom Cruise and really enjoyed it so I thought I'd give one of his books a try. I chose the "Killing Floor", it being the first in the series, and must say the plot was well thought out if a little far-fetched. Don't worry...no spoilers ahead. The details seemed to be well researched and that is always a bonus in a fictional thriller. Some of the character development and dialogue was a bit silly though. If you read this book after having seen the Cruise movie fair warning...even though the movie is based on a later novel in the series, the Jack Reacher character being the common thread, don't look for Jack to be the mysterious, smooth, always a step ahead personality that was displayed in the film. I know that with fiction, one must always strive to suspend belief, but a reasonable plausibility must be a part of the formula and this plot really stretches that goal at times.

Unexpected and fully engaging. I was not prepared to be sucked in by this series. Now, I'm on novel #4 and still sucked in. Well written cover to cover.

Good but neither great nor essential. I don’t think this book provides you with insights into Reacher that are necessary for fully appreciating subsequent Reacher novels. Moreover, this book is a bit weak on character and plot development, particularly the development of Reacher, Conklin, and their relationship. Maybe I am biased by having read subsequent Reacher novels prior to this one. Or, maybe I am biased by having watched the Amazon Prime series prior to reading this book.

Welcome to the Lee Child Jack Reacher Universe. Wow wow, wow…I became a Lee Child fan in the early 2000’s (thinking about my apostrophe placement….Killing Floor fans???….). With COVID, had to figure a systemic process. The fam and I went through Marvel (MCU)but I realized I needed my own escape back into Reacher world/Lee Child’s writing. Now I’m making my way through the LCRU (Lee Child Reacher Universe) on my iphone Apple Books. What a way to start my journey, not only through Reachers Universe but also Lee Child’s Saga.Fan I Am. Pass the next book please…

Excellent. Our hero Reacher, does the impossible again. Great, easy, and fun to read book!

Top action. Great action with enough twists and turns kept me reading past my bedtime. I will be reading more of Reacher’s adventures.

Distractingly inaccurate. I don’t expect every author to be a firearms expert, but if your main protagonist has a long term military history and exceedingly large portions of the book are gun fights, you should have a basic handling on the physics involved. The author not only describes impossibilities but does so repeatedly using the exact same language. I only finished the book because it came so highly recommended, by half way I’m not sure what offended me most; the way lazy repetition abused the English language, or the insultingly ignorant way firearms and “military experience” were used.

Thank you for letting me the reader try and figure out what he is planning, then watching it unfold while reading on to see if I was right. Then being pleasently suprised that I didnt have the foggiest notion, but was truley pleased all the same. Your fight sequences are spot on. The no nonsence way you cut through all the movie BS is great. People should never see a film and think that is the way to do it. Your books take out all that poetic license crap right out of it. This Got Me HOOKED on Reacher books.. You’ll read every Reacher book there is after this one. Great, very interesting character, great, smart writing, suspenseful and thrilling all the way to the end. Best character out there, in my opinion.

First rate action. The twists and turns in this novel are truly unpredictable. From the first chapter to the last, Jack Reacher takes you on a wonderful adventure. You could swear you are right there with him. Great reading!!!

Maybe his best. I have read just a few of Child's books, and this is the best so far. I could not put it down. Very interesting plot. I just discovered Child recently, but he is now in my top 4 or 5 authors. I will read ALL his books.

Great!. Still reading, about half way through. I don't read books ago ten, quite frankly I think they're boring but I can't quit turning pages on this book. It keeps you intrigued the entire time. Whether Reacher is fighting or speaking. There's never a dull moment in Reachers life.

Waste of time. I truly enjoy the Jack Reacher series. I believe I've read them all. This one, his first, I read last. This book is implausible, so full of ridiculous conclusion, segues, false information and sophomoric mistakes, it is best left unread. Move forward in the line a few and start the series there.

Dumb. This book has no literary value for anyone over age 12. It was written for fantasizing white teenage boys who think killing "bad" people is ok. No recommendation from me.

Killing floor. First jack reacher novel for me, I'm hooked. Read Cohen and Sanford and now childs. Like the development of this laid back but effective character. Hope jack progresses into a even more interesting guy!

Engaging. I like stories that are believable and have a have a good balance of violence in the action. This book does not go overboard, but cross Jack Reacher or hurt someone he likes, and things might get a little warm.

Good murder mystery with a little romance. The story moves a little slowly. But if you stick with it, you are rewarded with excellent action. The love story is prominent but not the main story. The ending was somewhat disappointing. And not involving pertinent government agencies was a bad decision by the author. Jack Reacher is competent and believable. I hope you enjoy this book.

Killing Floor. I'm not a reader. For me to take the time to read it has to be informative. I have never been a pleasure reader. My brother has read the Jack Reacher series. In conversation I became interested in learning more so as to be able to talk on the subject. I had a full Friday to waste while waiting for a five o'clock appt. in another town. I went to the local bookstore with the purpose of finding the first Jack Reacher book out out. I read for a few hrs at the bookstore, ended up getting the book and read the entire weekend finishing up the 400+ pages Sunday night. It wasn't speed reading either. I was just so into the story I couldn't put it down.

By far best books in the series. Awesome

Not bad, if.... you can suspend disbelief when it comes to implausible leaps of "logic", ridiculous coincidences, etc. still, not too bad, and the series does get better (except for Echo Burning)... but, Tom Cruise as Reacher? Seriously?

Decent book to get the series started. A lot of extra fill to get the book to a high page count if you ask me, but I think it did a good job of explaining who Jack is. I hope in later books Jack can show off some more of his military knowledge. Overall it's worth the read if you enjoy this genre, and hopefully the series author becomes a better author with each new title.

Killing. Verbose. Skimmed to get to the meat. Not bad though.

Action packed thriller. Jack Reacher is a hero and hurray to Lee Child for bringing this action hero to life. Lovable and faulted, Reacher sets an interesting pace with the conflict of duty and conscience at the forefront! FABULOUS BOOK. I COULD NOT PUT MY PHONE DOWN!

Killing Floor. Wow! Grabs you from the first paragraph (which I keep rereading for the visual impact). Finished the book in 2 days and sneaked reading through it at work. The images of the characters are so well developed, and the description of the fighting techniques, strategy and considerations involved in what weapon to use and how to land the right blow, all coupled with the inner story of Mr. Reacher. Buy it, read it. Get the next one.

New author for me. First time reading this author, but not my last!

A MUST READ!. This is my first read from this author. I had high expectations from this particular book after finding out the 2 awards it won as well as the 2 finalist awards it got as well. This book did not disappoint! I will most definitely read another of hers. I'm in love with the character Jack Reacher.

A bit unrealistic. Well I first had a problem with the character because he is/was a Officer in the MP corps who investigated murders and collected a lot of skills that he drew on in this book. Mot much research done on the authors part. Officers in the MP corps are not investigators. That falls into MPI and CID which are NCO's and Warrant Officers. Along with a set of skills no army MP would pick up in their time in. A civilian cop perhaps but not an MP. Now don't get me wrong the book is a good read, but the main character is a bit "too good". Then again maybe I am being a bit harsh considering I actually know what an MP's background should be.

A real thriller. Wow, what can I say. This was a thriller from start to finish. I'll take Jack on my team any day. He was like McGiver. What a man. Loved loved loved this book.
