Too contrived an ending. Somewhat disappointed the ending did not live up to the rest of the book. Dominolouis

4/5. This book had some good twists! I do feel like the chapters about Lily & Christian were the exact same every time. Thus making this a little redundant. I also felt like the ending was rushed. I would have preferred a longer ending & explanation & less repetitiveness in the beginning! Otherwise, a great read!

Okay read. Had to skip a couple pages to get through it… but an “okay read”..

Very enticing…with a twist. Pretty much had me hooked from the beginning, was nervous for every party, unexpected twist.

Reads like a Lifetime movie. I couldn’t put this down but only because I was looking for this “thrilling” book everyone mentions. I kept getting caught up on how the author describes everyone’s hair in nearly every chapter. Why do things like a video doorbell and glass block showers need an explanation? This book reads like a Lifetime movie. Not my favorite. Maybe I would have liked it better if I just read Nina’s chapters.

Wow. Truly a book that I could not put down. Exciting twist and turns. And an ending I never saw coming.

Not worth the $. I do love her other books. Sadly, with this book I found myself saying to my family many times “I’m reading a terrible story …. feel I just need to finish it now that I’ve committed.” Skimmed most of the second half to avoid the unnecessary dialogue and shoddy character building.

Master of Suspense. Amazing book!

Pretty good. Definitely a page turner. Decent writing and story. Not my favorite book though. Didn’t really take anything away from it aside from entertainment.

Ultimate whodunnit.. So many twists and the only sure thing in this story is murder. This excellent read, is the ultimate whodunnit with a large serving of crazy. A good, exciting read. Grab this one, a definite addition to your TBR list.

Disappointed. The book was amazing in the beginning and then it just ended abruptly as if the author didn’t have a better ending in mind.

Keeps you hanging on every page. This was my first book by this author. Really enjoyed this. Keeps you hanging on til the end. Very easy reading. Can’t wait to start another one.

Fast read towards the end.. It was a slow burn and MANY twists and turns at the end. Could’ve used the earlier part of the book to flush out some of the story lines.

Don’t pay full price for this book. I cannot believe this is a NYT best seller! The writing is clunky, the characters are kind of annoying, and the ending is rather disappointing. There is so much needless description and this book makes the mistake of telling the reader everything instead of showing the reader through action and natural sounding dialogue. There is also a lot of needless descriptions about things that don’t really matter. The ending of the book comes abruptly. It’s like the author got tired of writing or got bored of the story. The ending of the book contrasts with the beginning of the book where chapters are wasted with little character or story development. If you find this book somewhere for a couple dollars, it might be worth picking up for a quick, mindless read. But it is definitely NOT worth $14.99

Excellent read. Very good. Just when you think you’ve got it figured out the plot twists. This book has very surprising and exciting twists and turns you’d never expect. A very good read.

Predictable!. I normally love Kubica’s but I was a little bored and halfway through I already knew where it was headed. I was not surprised at the end. Normally they are so good but this one was a little meh. Awesome read but not for the price. 😭

Slow. I feel like I never really got interested in the story. I kept reading only for the fact that I thought it would get better. Not a huge fan of this one.

Good story, too many details. I will agree with others that there were a lot of unnecessary details that I ended up skipping over. Like, paragraphs and paragraphs of them. But overall, I loved the storyline and it got me hooked. I finished in just one day. I would definitely recommend this book.

A good easy read. I won’t lie I found bits unbelievable. Like for instance it not seeming like a big deal when the husband went missing. If my husband didn’t come home I’d be shouting from the rooftops for help. I also didn’t like not getting resolution on the beeping outside Lily and Christians house. Nina seemed like a 1970’s wife not a woman in her 30’s in the 2020’s. BUT, it was a good plot and kept things moving. Not my favorite but glad I read it and stayed interesting the entire time.

Unlikable Characters, Good Mystery. An otherwise interesting mystery was ruined for me by the nearly totally unlikable characters. In fact, the only character who has somewhat redeeming virtues is not the character who has a somewhat uplifting positive outcome. It’s not just the disgusting choices made by several of the characters, but the stupidity of those choices too. Otherwise, the central mystery is well constructed.

Don’t bother!. Brutally over written with detailed useless descriptions that aren’t pertinent to the story. How this has 4 stars I will never know.

Perfect suspense. Absolutely broke my heart, I actually cried at the end. Although I could tell the mom was gaslighting. This read had all the suspense a person could want. I was at the edge of my seat.

Waste of time. I rarely leave reviews, but this book reads as one long run on sentence. Obvious plot, stuffed full of describing words and lazy internal dialogue within characters. Skimmed to the end. DO NOT waste your time. Truly terrible.

Sooo boring. I try not to harp on a book just based on my opinion but my goodness this book was SLOW. By the time the "big plot twist" came around I was begging to just finish so I could move on to read something else. Save yourself the time .. you aren't missing much

Not a hit. I agree with other reviews. It started out good. I liked the alternating POV. There was so much unnecessary details and it dragged on. And some of the things did not make sense - like hello bag of Christian is just hanging on to for days even though they had a fire one night!!! I have watched way too many crime docs to see each stupid thing they did wrong. I guessed one of the twists but not the big one so that’s cool. The ending was very abrupt. So much detail in the whole book and the last two chapters it felt like the author went “eh… I’m over it” If this was free or under $5 I would enjoy. But not worth full price.

Just fine. I choose this book because I really enjoyed Local woman missing. It doesn’t have nearly as many twists and turns like local woman missing and moves slower.

Got me sucked in on page 1!!. I read this book in 2.5 days!! I couldn’t put it down. I can’t wait to read her other books. #MUSTREAD gives me Verity vibes!

Riveting!. You might not want to start this book right before bedtime. It’s such a page turner and very suspenseful. Loved it!
