No Mercy (A Valerie Law FBI Suspense Thriller—Book 1) by Blake Pierce Book Summary

From #1 bestselling mystery and suspense author Blake Pierce comes a gripping new series: when a serial killer escapes from a mental hospital, the FBI creates an elite unit to target criminally-insane killers. FBI Special Agent Valerie Law, a rising star, is the perfect candidate—but for Valerie, this case may just hit too close to home.

“A masterpiece of thriller and mystery.”
—Books and Movie Reviews, Roberto Mattos (re Once Gone)

With an insane killer on a spree, the clock is ticking for Valerie and her partner—and the brilliant psychiatrist on their team—to enter his mind and stop him before he strikes again. The twisted pathway to his psyche takes them down the dark road of the killer’s past, into orphanages, alienated family members, and shattered survivors.

It is a road that may be too dark for even Valerie—one of the best BAU agents—to head down. She has tried too hard to escape her own past to withstand much more on her psyche.

And when the killer sets his sights on her, it may just be her final undoing.

Is Valerie one step ahead of this killer?

Or has she walked right into a trap?

A page-turning crime thriller featuring a brilliant and haunted new female protagonist, the VALERIE LAW mystery series is packed with suspense and driven by a breakneck pace that will keep you turning pages late into the night.

I enjoyed the book but it was just ok.

Superb Cannot wait for the next book!!!

A great book that I read changed my type of books which I now read from crime stories to slightly more with a little more of romance. Ole grandma

Good plot, good pace throughout. Plenty of suspense. Plenty of typos, misspellings & omitted words. Also pistol is the universal term. Pistols can be revolvers or semi-automatic. The Terms are not all interchangeable. Also the cartridges (bullets) are held in a magazine in a semi-auto pistol, (NOT a clip).

The main characters name changes throughout the book. Grammar is off, spelling errors, and the dialogue is sophomoric. The only reason I gave it 2 stars is the storyline was interesting.

Great page turner

Couldn’t put the book down. Very exciting from page one to the end! Now on to book 2, No Pity.

Great book! Very captivating and well written. I can’t wait to read more

Great read. Keeps you thinking till the end. Love trying to figure this out with what you give us and I did! Will keep reading your books. Thanks!

Very good story line I enjoyed it very much. Thanks k

I’m only on page 41, and the woman detectives name keeps switching from Valerie to Valeria😭. Did someone not get a proof read?

I have been an avid reader for over 50 years - started with the Franklin W. Dixon Hardy Boys series at age 6. Many book reviews say that the work “grabs you from the first page”. This is the very first one that did so for me. Well done.

Another runaway hit by Blake Pierce! This is going to be one of those series where you wish you could immediately binge read 15 books and not have to do any real life things like work, sleep,….

Valerie and her partner are faced with several gruesome murders Follow this good plot with twists and turns to keep one reading and awaiting the next one, well done and readers will enjoy.

No Mercy grabs you by the throat and just doesn’t let go. This book is intense and thrilling. I really enjoy these characters and look forward to learning more of their backstories. Blake Pierce wrote a completely complex villain who in the end somehow draws sympathy, but not compassion. Great story!

I really like all other Blake Pierce characters and enjoy reading his books. It wasn’t just the unlikeable character but this is the first book I’ve felt that some of the scenes were implausible.

Great read, hard to put down. Hooks you from the beginning. Which all amounts to being my favourite type of literature!! Cheers to Blake!

At one time I sought out BP’s books, feeling they were some of the best mysteries out there - well crafted, riveting, and difficult to put down. More recently, after reading books from several of the many, many series BP is writing, I have a different opinion. Clearly they are being churned out too quickly. Plots are similar, written to a formula, regardless of which series. The lead characters are indistinguishable. Generally, I find the more recent books very amateurish. And if that were not enough, I take great exception to all the spelling, grammar and syntax mistakes. Does no one proofread these?!

I really enjoyed the reading thank you.

An exciting new protagonist to follow. So many twists and turns, so much to keep me turning pages till I reach the end. I’m looking forward to getting to know Valerie as her story unfolds.

love the FBI book by blake moore, would recommend them all. keeps you guessing

Generally a good read but sometimes the psychobabble got in the way and made it feel contrived. The characters are well written. However, I was very disappointed with the gathering frequency of grammatical errors particularly in the later sections, which made the book feel less polished - rather poor standard proof reading.

A superb physiological thriller from the beginning to the end

About Blake Pierce Wiki

Charles Pierce (July 14, 1926 – May 31, 1999) was one of the 20th century's foremost female impersonators, particularly noted for his impersonation of Bette Davis. Life and career Born in Watertown, New York, he began his show business career playing the organ and acting in radio dramas at station WWNY. He branched out into a comedy routine, attired in tuxedo, yet managing to evoke eerily convincing imitations of popular movie actresses. Eschewing the term drag queen, which he hated, he billed himself as a male actress. Initially playing in small gay clubs, his fame spread. He took up residence in San Francisco, where his act became well known to Hollywood stars. As he toured, his costuming became more elaborate, initially adding small props, later full costume and makeup changes. His imitations were imitated by other female impersonators, and his roles included Bette Davis, Mae West, Tallulah Bankhead, Gloria Swanson, Carol Channing, Katharine Hepburn, and Joan Crawford, and these ...
