Who killed Emily Vaughn?
A girl with a secret…
Longbill Beach, 1982. Emily Vaughn gets ready for the prom. For an athlete, who is smart, pretty and well-liked, this night should be the highlight of her high school career. But Emily has a secret. And by the end of the evening, that secret will be silenced forever.
An unsolved murder…
Forty years later, Emily’s murder remains a mystery. Her tight-knit group of friends closed ranks; her respected, wealthy family retreated inwards; the small town moved on from her grisly attack. But all that’s about to change.
One final chance to uncover a killer…
US Marshal Andrea Oliver arrives in Longbill Beach on her first assignment: to protect a judge receiving death threats. But, in reality, Andrea is there to find justice for Emily. The killer is still out there—and Andrea must discover the truth before she gets silenced, too…

Great twists. Not one… but a few.. I love the way she kept you interested by flipping you between the present and past story lines. She also brought the two together very well. Didn’t feel rushed to give me all the info at once. She dropped each piece so well into the story and I didn’t know the killer until the end. That’s not easy to do with me. I will absolutely look for more of her books. Great read. Think I devoured it in two days.
Disappointed. Liked this book up to the ending. Would have been better with more follow up and details; seemed to end abruptly with a set for the next novel. Felt unfinished and that the author just wanted to be done with this book.
Suspense. The author had me wanting to know who did it. However, I was very disappointed with the ending. I almost felt like I wasted my time.
Amazing Author - Best Book Yet. I’m really hoping this one is made into a movie or series because this is her best book to date. Yes there is a lot of back story but it’s all to get to the end result. Loved it!! Read it in 3 days every chance I could sneak in another page!
Not my fav. I read Pretty Girls and absolutely loved it, so I assumed this book was destined to be great too (and disturbing too). It was only Ok— it did keep me entertained and some of the plot was super enthralling. HOWEVER, I did not realize going into this that it was kind of a sequel to Pieces of Her?? That made it really confusing at times for me because I never read pieces of her. You definitely don’t need to have read it to know what’s happening in this book but sometimes the references threw me off.
Good… not great!!. Not Karin Slaughters best book I’ll tell you that! Probably my least favorite HOWEVER I finished it and the ending and everything that surrounded it was a surprise!
Great mystery. Great mystery read with many characters whose stories intersect. Very interesting story line.
Needs to steer clear of partisan political ideologies. The latest books have been overall good and Karin Slaughter is a talented author, however, the author’s political biases creep into the stories in a way that’s disappointingly distracting. It becomes predictably partisan and we all read fiction to escape this sort of thing.
Great mystery and characters. Really enjoyed this book. A lot of characters to follow but in the end it did not matter except for the ones who were bad!
Not for me. I didn’t care for this book. The situation and behavior of the protagonist didn’t seem believable.
Girl Forgotten. Sometimes confusing and repetitive. Ok for a beach read.
Up all night unable to put this one down. She’s done it again!! I hope this spawns another series, though I’m still holding out hope for more Will Trent because I’ll never have enough of him. I will buy and read anything this woman writes.
Too long and detailed. The plot itself was interesting but a third of the book could have been cut and it would have the same impact. Waaaaaaay to wordy and descriptive where it wasn’t needed. Occasionally made it boring (I skipped quite a few pages)p

Can never put her books down.. I’m so happy that their was a sequel to “pieces of her”.
Girl, forgotten. Started off well. Last few chapters became convoluted in effort to quicken the pace to create suspense…it was ok.
