Stephen King's The Stand meets Firestarter in this super-human survival story, fraught with Crazies, beautifully broken characters, and bursting with raw emotion you can feel deep in your bones.

The Virus spread. Billions died. The Ending began.

A group of orphaned misfits. The wildlands of the last frontier. Superhuman abilities, harrowing adventures, and heartbreaking secrets.

Haunting shadows are nothing new to Elle St. James, she's been running from them all her life. But since the outbreak spread from the lower forty-eight, new monsters lurk in the darkness. After Elle wakes from the fever, capable of horrific deeds, she fears she's one of them. When she stumbles upon four orphans, Elle's forced to discover what happens when her greatest fear becomes her darkest secret and her only hope of surviving.

After the world goes mad and takes his family with it, Jackson Mitchell tosses aside his badge and decides a bottle of bourbon and the depths of despair are preferable to any semblance of living. All of that changes, however, when a group of young survivors are in dire need of his help and Jackson sacrifices his blissful oblivion in order to keep them safe. As they trek further away from the collapsing cities, Jackson must rely on his knowledge of the backcountry and the traditions of his people, or succumb to the dangers of the Alaskan wilderness.

Brought together under the worst possible circumstances, Elle and Jackson must face the inexplicable realities of the new world. Their past lives are over, and the arctic isn't all that's savage anymore. Perfect for fans of Stephen King's The Stand, Sarah Lyons Fleming, and Nora Robert's Year One.

Over 500 pages of new characters, locations, and adventures — The Darkest Winter can be enjoyed on its own or in conjunction with The Ending Series novels. **Rated R for violence and possible triggers.** (After The Ending, book one in the sister series, The Ending, is currently free!)

Darkest Winter. Abilities, survival, post apocalyptic. I really enjoyed it. No unnecessary romance/sex scenes taking up space. It’ll be interesting to see how individual characters are able to use their powers and make a life together while avoiding trouble.

Lindsey Pogue: The Darkest Winter. Best apocalyptic book I’ve ever read. The story plot and the details are so vivid. Can’t wait to read what comes next.

😍❤️🔥😝🤩. There are no words to describe how I felt about this book! I more than loved it. It is one of the best books I have read in a while. I drank it in like it was a slurpy, and on the last page, realized this book now owns a special place in my heart. I absolutely loved how Elle and Jackson’s love come out at the end of the book, despite Jackson’s loss. You could defiantly pick up the hints that they would end up together, but it was still amazing. There wasn’t anything like: I loved her, she was the candle in the dark, she was the sun in the night. The book never even mentioned that they had those feeling for one another. I loved how there was ALWAYS something coming. ALWAYS the doom of uncertainty in every corner they turned. They stuck together, and learned what it meant to be a family, despite the apocalypse. This is a good book for everyone. But warning to young kids, or anyone who don’t enjoy heavy swearing, this book is LOADED with profanity. It also contained the f word every now and then. So just to be warned, that comes AFTER you have already been sucked in. I loved how they worked things out with each other, just talked it out. They became a family, larger than any of them had ever been a part of post apocalypse, and became a bonded family after the apocalypse. It was AWSOME. Thank you to the writer, but you absolute need to make the rest of the books free. I’m desperate to keep learning what happens to them 😭

I love this book so much. Robert Heinlein move over, you’re no longer number 1 on my list. Lindsey Pogue, author of the darkest winter is! This book what so amazing in so many ways, I loved learning about the native Americans of Alaska, which I had to google what Haida was and learned a lot. But every character has something to teach us. And I’m 35 years old. Thank you for this series.

Darkest Winter. Character development is brilliantly done. I’ve reread it to try and figure out how she’s able to get the reader so quickly and intimately involved with her characters, it’s unbelievable. Her writing is magical. I enjoyed every page from beginning to end.

Great start. I really got hooked in the beginning. I was feeling for the characters in a way I rarely do. However, it got slowed down and the end was unsatisfying. I think it was to try to leave you wanting more but I figured it was a good place to stop completely.
