received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. While you think this may start as any other Cinderella story it isn't. There are twists intertwined in the story. There were a few grammatical errors but that didn't effect my enjoyment of the book. After reading book 1 I look forward to more in the series.

Unexpected surprise. I downloaded this book because it was free, I had the time and I like fairy tale retellings. I wanted to have a book that wouldn’t stick me to it so I could multitask. I got the wrong book. Even though I’ve moved on from YA and the drama and hormones, this book was engaging. It wasn’t high prose but the spunky attitude of Elle, the world-building and the coming-of-age story captured my interest unwittingly. It’s a fun premise in a new world even if the teenage love drama can get a bit much.

A Must Read Fairytale Retelling. I love fairytale retelling so when I saw a book that would be a Cinderella retelling I just had to read it. This first book in The Glass Slipper Adventure series is a delightful read. It has most of your normal Cinderella elements with a few new surprises. Our protagonist, Elle, is your typical Cinderella or so we thought. Elle will learn that her heritage is not what she thought it was. You see her father didn’t tell her everything about her mother and throughout the story Elle discovers the truth. I won’t tell you what that is as I don’t want to spoil the story for you. Elle is a very likeable and believable character. She will meet her prince, Rye, as all Cinderella’s do but don’t expect the same happily ever after for them (oops that could be a spoiler sorry). It is possible that they will get their happily ever after in book 2 or 3 but as I haven’t read them yet I can’t be sure. I really enjoyed this book and I’m looking forward to reading the rest of the series. It has everything a fairytale retelling should have, the main premise of the story of Cinderella with a completely different storyline and a little bit of romance. If you enjoy fairytale retellings or fantasy books then this book is for you.

Cinderella assassin. I started reading this because I love this author’s other series, I was not disappointed. Once you start reading you don’t want to put it down, it’s so good I read it in two days, now I am going to read the next book so excited to see what happens next. Highly recommend ❤️

Recommended. I really enjoyed this book and I’m looking forward to reading the sequels. There are all the elements of the original fairytale the wicked stepmother to obnoxious stepsisters post Cinderella as their slave and a prince. But this is not the Disney sweet fairytale. The fairy godmother appears to be a bully perhaps with a good reason later on in the book. Cinderella herself has magic and there are different magical creatures galore who are met along her quest. And Cinderella has two men who are interested in her what a lucky girl!!! The writing was very descriptive and one could certainly envisage that world and its inhabitants. On a deeper level it is a coming of age, a right of passage, of accepting the duality of self and especially the part that one wishes to keep secret. It took a night for Cinderella to accept her full self through a series of challenges and friendships made and lost along the way, and to give up the idea of fitting in and being “normal”. It has taken me a lifetime to accept that I am not normal and that I don’t fit in all the time but that it is okay. One constructive criticism I would make (being a right of myself) is that the author only had one way of describing Cinderellas tension/ frustration/ anger ie her hands fisted. Personally I would have use several other adjectives or phrases such as clenched hands, fingers curled in fury, balled her hands and anger et cetera. Aside from that last point I do highly recommend this book.

Enjoyable. Slow to start but enjoyed once the story got going. Now need to get the next in the series. I did think at one point that the plot was lost but the more I read the more I understood the way in which the story was going.
