The Paris Apartment by Lucy Foley Book Summary
THE #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER
“Told in rotating points of view, this Tilt-A-Whirl of a novel brims with jangly tension – an undeniably engrossing guessing game.” — Vogue
"[A] clever, cliff-hanger-filled thriller." — People
From the New York Times bestselling author of The Guest List comes a new locked room mystery, set in a Paris apartment building in which every resident has something to hide…
Jess needs a fresh start. She’s broke and alone, and she’s just left her job under less than ideal circumstances. Her half-brother Ben didn’t sound thrilled when she asked if she could crash with him for a bit, but he didn’t say no, and surely everything will look better from Paris. Only when she shows up – to find a very nice apartment, could Ben really have afforded this? – he’s not there.
The longer Ben stays missing, the more Jess starts to dig into her brother’s situation, and the more questions she has. Ben’s neighbors are an eclectic bunch, and not particularly friendly. Jess may have come to Paris to escape her past, but it’s starting to look like it’s Ben’s future that’s in question.
The socialite – The nice guy – The alcoholic – The girl on the verge – The concierge
Everyone's a neighbor. Everyone's a suspect. And everyone knows something they’re not telling.

Loved every pages!!. Must-read!!!!
LOVED IT. It is a very interesting story that keeps you guessing until the very last page. Loved it!
Guessing until the end. Completely hooked and couldn’t put it down.
Not worth it. This was a slow burn, too slow for me. The connections took forever to make and by the time they did, I just didn’t care. I almost quit reading this many times and powered through hoping it would get better. I wish I had just quit.
The Paris Apartment. I didn’t like this book at all. Found it boring as every chapter was same ole same ole.
A great murder mystery in Paris. A great Parisian twist! Family secrets, family ties, & family murder. A real page tuner, couldn’t put it down.
I wish I could do 3.5 stars. I liked this book, and I would definitely recommend it to certain people! It was engaging, and it wasn’t very slow for long. After the first couple chapters you want to know more & the plot continues to thicken up until the end. Looking past the vast grammatical errors, I did like the writing style, although sometimes hard to follow between characters & time jumps. Overall, definitely on my list of good books!
Very good.. Enjoyable from beginning to end. Good characters and plot. It keeps moving along.
Addicted!!. Absolutely addicting. Every chapter gave me some sense of urgency to finish to the point where I read it in one sitting. One of those books where, as the reader, you are almost lied to by the characters until the very end. Definitely a twist at the end.
Not worth my money to read this book. Although the story seems kind of interesting, I wish there was more to it. Now I gotta buy another book to continue the story.
I didn’t see that coming……. ……but probably should have. Terrific adventure and puzzle.
Paris apartment. Surprised me all the way to the end! Couldn’t put it down.
Paris apartment. Really enjoyed it! Keep on giving us great stories. I finished it in two days. I couldn’t put it down except to make St . Paddy’s day dinner! DJ
Mystery and twists. A good novel from many points of view. Some of the sexual tones seem completely unnecessary to the plot but are short in length and easily forgotten. The overall story was quite good. Kept me reading a few nights a week but I definitely wouldn’t say that I couldn’t put it down.
Terrific Book. The best book yet from this author. I enjoyed it immensely!
Let’s go to Paris. Fun read! Definitely not as complex as Guest List, but still really enjoyable and great character development. Big fan of Lucy Foley!!!
Too long and unbelievable. Her other book, The Guest List, is better.
Fast and Furious!. I couldn’t put it down and the twists were clever and well thought out! A very good read!
Poor character development. People doing things that people wouldn’t do. Actions need to be believable here and they aren’t. Plus questions left unanswered-Theo, concierge, the cat?
Slow Read. This is a very slow read. This book could have been wrapped up in 150 pages less. The plot twists were not shocking and the ending was ehhh
read this book. It was addicting! I couldn’t stop reading I had to know what was going to happen next!
Great Twists and Turns. This book keeps you page turning. A very enjoyable read.
Enjoyable. I enjoyed the story and the twists and turns.
Struggled to keep my attention. The ending was captivating but the lead up was slow at times and hard to keep my attention.
Great Read!. Awesome- twisting- riveting- couldn’t put it down!
51 pages?. this book is apparently only 51 pages and has no storyline or plot.
Loved it. From the very first chapter this book had me hooked. The twist and turns kept me wanting more and more. Great read.
Thoroughly enjoyed!. The characters is this book we’re interesting and relatable. I have a soft spot for Paris and could really imagine being there throughout. Very clever. Couldn’t put it down.
Implausible plot, interesting dynamics. Would not say “you need to read this!” But it was on okay story. Implausible that the “wrong action(s)” would result in coverup and more violence….and the solved mystery of the dysfunctional family dynamic and the further dysfunction (intended to create mystery) was just boring….
Quite the fun read! Jaw dropping. It usually takes me forever to finish a book, but not this one. I was always excited to pick it back up, it moves rather quickly. I loved that French was sprinkled throughout the book. (If you buy it digitally, it will be easier to look up exact translations). Loved the secrets and twists, it literally had my jaw dropping a few times!
Good read. Good book, twisty and entertaining. Slow start but once it picks up, it goes.
The Paris Apartment. Clever read.
Couldn’t put it down. The writing revealed all the twists and turns at the right time. I wanted to guess what was going to happen next. I had to keep reading to find out if I guessed right. Loved it.
The Paris Apartment. It started out interesting, a who done it, the jumping in and out of the characters toward the end got confusing. The ending kind of just trailed off. I wasn’t surprised at the end to read Ben was live.
I enjoyed this adventure. The story demanded answers. The presentations through each charactered allowed the reader to really discover greater insight. Great ending!
The last 100 pages were very good. Slow to start. Good book ghough
A no. Not well written, vulgar, and no characters to root for.
The Paris Apartment. It was fantastic and a little creepy. My kind of book.
Excellent read!. I couldn’t put it down! Well written, suspenseful, and a great story!
Loved it. Only reason I’m not putting 5 stars is because I feel like the ending could have been better. Other than that this book is a must read.
Foley’s best yet!. I loved this book. It was a super quick read and lots of twists and turns as to be expected from her, but the characters were beautifully developed. My relationship with each evolved and changed throughout the story. They were all complex and their actions always felt genuine. A very fun read.
So good. This is probably my favorite book of hers. The story was really interesting and I couldn’t put it down until I figured out what was going on. Definitely recommend.
Such a waste of time. My book club read it and only two of us even finished it. Her other books are better.
