I thought this was a great book but you do need to like blood and guts with real evil.

Pretty intense and detailed I felt like I was there at times. Great

Very good and frightening mystery for sure, however, our FBI would never be so stupid to talk so openly to someone they didn’t do a complete background check on….that drove me crazy.

Easy reading keep you guessing all the way

Good story and action throughout. Robert was crazy but a great bad guy. Loved the book.

This is the first book I’ve read by C. M. Sitter and just wow!! If you like suspense lodging in your throat and you can’t stop reading, then you should read about SSAs Lorenzo and Munroe!!!!

Sutter is a top notch author, and I enjoy the heck out of the Jade series. Truth be told, I like most of their work. Keep it coming!

Couldn’t stop reading, kept me on the edge of my seat

I hate when the female lead character is stupid, and this SSA is the worst. Add the pretty stupid plot and dialogue and there’s only one conclusion. Don’t waste your time on this book. It’s an insult to Louisiana and the FBI.

Books make me happy

I cry when I read books

Didn’t want to put it down outstanding

Is still think mosquitoes are the apex predator. The story does a great job of putting you in the environment.

Great plot! In depth characters…

I really enjoyed reading this book. I could not wait for the ending. It did have to much info on the names of the people who are irrelevant in this story (like at the wedding) but I couldn't wait to see who the killer was. Great read!

Just waiting for that jerk Robbie to get caught.I loved the ending. Sally so brave. Only the one character I hated… that killer. He is insane. To be sure. No more now though❗️❗️❗️I recommend Sutter stories. I enjoyed what I had read before of his writing. Awesome‼️❗️

Well done!

I love it. I couldn’t put it down to the end. Thank you Sutter

This book will keep you turning the page! So suspenseful!

Great story line. Kept my attention and wanted to keep reading!

It really bothered me that Jade was foolish enough to hop in a car with a complete stranger while investigating abductions. It just doesn’t add up for a supposedly crack agent to take that kind of chance. Duckbills

This was a very exciting book to read. The author did a great job to hold your interest in the story. I am looking forward to reading the other books.

I like the idea of a female FBI agent. Though after the beginning of the story, it seemed like the author went off of what tv shows and movies do for police investigations, rather than doing actual research. And this lack of intelligent thought from the main character really turned me off the story.

Biggest issue I had was the police and fbi never bother to get an id or run a background check on their consultant

Good suspense thriller

A horrific book. I stopped reading a third into it. If you read it, be sure not to do so af5er a meal because you will probably be revising that meal as it comes back up.

i usually like C.M. Sutter, and her Monroe sisters, but this one just wasn’t good. I finished it but it was just painful to read. I agree with some of the other reviewers. The FBI and Jade were irritatingly clueless, and unbelievably naive. Very gruesome storyline.

Definitely a nail biter. Would make a good movie.

A really great read, I couldn’t put it down. I can’t wait to read the next CM Sutter edge of your seat thriller.

I enjoyed the hunt in the story but was disappointed that you made the FBI and police act so stupid. No way would they arbitrarily share pertinent information about a case with a layman

Was too frustrating to read. To be fair I didn’t finish the book. It was like watching a horror movie where the person takes the serial killer home. Jade was too stupid to live. Quit when she had Billy sign on to consult for the FBI. Could not do any more. My time is worth more. As an analyst she was terrible.

Intriguing from the beginning. A story teller. And some of that Bayou… that’s real world for people.

Very well written book. So many twist and turns. Was hard to stop reading.

Love Jade Monroe she always get her culprit. Would love #2 but can’t buy it. Will watch for it though.Glad to say her & Renz made a good partnership . Glad they bypassed the 🐊 didn’t envy the closeness they had with them 😅 gutty girls huh. Would like her and Renz’s partnership to continue, looking forward to another Sutter story 👍🧐😎 Tweety 🦜.

Great Read.

Definitely enjoyed the book…couldn’t put it down!

Good quick read. Glad this bad guy was stopped and put in his rightful place.

I loved it

Interesting take on a crime. However, NO FBI agent or agents would have fallen for the helping hand from a stranger.

Keeps you on your toes, thrilling story and loved the ending!

This book was in the mystery and thrillers section and nothing in it was a mystery, offered any suspense or had any thrills at all. There was no romance, sex…nothing. Dull as doornails but that’s probably why it was free.

Very entertaining!

Easy summer read; excellent character development. I would recommend highly for a good vacation book to read

Great plot. Loved the ending.

Very easy reading. Great twists and turns. Keeps you guessing. Very enjoyable.

Painful reading. Very amateur, gore/shock forward with poor character development and very unrealistic story line in general.

Could not put this book down. Very intense and one scary predator. Joyce in Boise

Such a great book! I was on the edge of my seat with each page and word. Started reading late Tuesday night and just finished it and WOW!!! I loved the back and forth between the Agent Monroe’s POV and the Serial Killer, Robbie Williams’ POV. Now on to the second book in the series!!!

I am sorry to say that the story would have been better but for the dumbest pair of FBI agent’s in print since Lestraud from the Holmes movie series with Basil Rathbone. Really? Inclusion of the criminal into the case is training 101 in criminalistics. I can’t believe you got this published. The story line was decent inspite of the flawed main characters. Kept me interested wondering how long it would take these 2 twits who were supposed to be top agents in their field, to figure out who dun it. I will not bother with anymore of this series due to the authors very poor choice in FBI agent portrayal. Really doesn’t show them in the best light at all. I am disappointed that you think so little of your 2 main characters abilities.

I feel bad posting a bad review but there is a fine line that this novel crossed for me. I don’t want to give it away for anyone else, but what I can say, with regards to informants, this author needs to do better research. I’m pretty sure no regular joe off the street can suddenly be a key consultant in a fbi investigation. Now I know this is a fiction novel! However, as an enthusiast for books like this… this killed me and I couldn’t continue in the book cause “getting lost in fiction” was too far out for me in this!

This was by far the worst book I’ve read and I read over 100 a year. Ridiculous characters and an even more ridiculous antagonist. The story line is predictable and could’ve been written by a child. Don’t waste your time.

This story could have been a episode on the TV show Criminal Minds. It had many of the same elements. I had a difficult time getting into the first chapter. Once the story unfolded, couldn’t put the book down.

Excellent story. As gross as it was I had a to keep reading. Well done.

Ignored the world around me until I finished it. Brilliant

I thoroughly enjoyed the story. Had you hanging on the edge of your seat trying to figure out who was the killer.

Gosh that was gripping l was feeling everything even had to skip a bit when I got scared. Good read.

Wow love the development in this story. The new partnership of Jade and Renzo was very believable and the difficulties they experienced as they came across Bayou people and their lifestyles. The futility of their enquiries was so frustrating at times whilst the help from Bob was Jades’ Achilles heel as she struggled to find her feet amongst the truths half truths and black magic stories. Little did you think what would culminate. A great read with a heart thumping ending.

Not realistic. The agents were unprofessional and naive. It did not hold my interest

I have read many novels of such kind, and observed one thing, ‘you can’t discuss anything about an ongoing investigation with anyone’. If a new comer do that, its understandable, but u can’t do such mistakes when u r experienced and professional FBI agent. Jade Monroe, the MC here, literally discussed the whole case with a total stranger, in their first meeting. She was the main and only reason behind Mark and Billy’s death. Moreover, no one ever checked ‘bob’s’ ID or double checked his credentials. They didn’t have a slightest doubt on him, even though he clearly mentioned that he was expert hunter. In the end, they got the list of literally 5 names- 4 to be considered- but they didn’t even have a look at it. The author just wanted Jade to be that hunter’s last victim- all useless dragging. Although, it looked like Karma got to her for whatever Mark and Billy suffered because of her. Verdict: Even if u ignore grammatical mistakes, the story gets ur blood pressure high when u see such professionals acting like a rookie. After uncountable pages of irritating storyline, the death of the culprit will satisfy u though.

This book kept me reading all night could not put it down

If you like a good murder mystery this is it. The guy was good but in the end he gets his.

I downloaded and I only have a sample—the first 25 pages. 🤨 I removed download, reinstalled and it was fine. I really enjoy this author’s books and will read more.

Captivating story. Well written

I have liked Sutter’s books until now. This is the worst depiction of my home state since the horrible movie The Big Easy. Seriously? Has Sutter ever been to La.? Alligators waiting for someone to just hit the water so they can eat them? Don’t even get me started on the pigs and the offensive depiction of hunters. Shame on you!
