Hawke. Interesting storyline with great characters! Great summer read of a friends to lovers story with some danger and intrigue thrown in.

Not a bad plot but tough to get through…. The ideas behind the plot were decent—“nerdy” scientist and charming SEAL have been friends for years, and finally get together when he protects her from a threat. However, I really struggled to get through the book. The writing and conversations would go from stilted to seemingly from a soap opera and back again. The way the main characters spoke about their work made me think that the author didn’t do enough research into how people would actually discuss PTSD, pharmaceuticals, disease, etc. There were also times where Emilia’s character left me confused and not liking her. For example, on the first page of the book she seems to be someone who doesn’t think they are pretty and is a bit socially awkward. Within the next chapter, we see her flirting and caring about her makeup, highlighted hair, and fashion.. When she entered the work break room and saw it was messy, it didn’t do much for her character when she sat down and said she wasn’t going to be the one to clean up after others. While she was correct about cleaning not being her job, her petulance was unattractive.

Interesting. The story was interesting and exciting. The characters were fantastic and hot.

Loved. I loved the storyline it’s interesting and engaging and well developed and the flow was smooth flowing throughout the pages. The characters are engaging and the chemistry is undeniable throughout the pages. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Hawke. I really enjoyed this novel, however the repetition of their feelings as if the reader couldn’t remember the facts of Emilia and Hawkes misgivings to allow their relationship to develop, niggled me.
