Charlotte Madsen's whole world came crashing down six months ago with the words, "I met someone else." Thirty-seven, recently divorced, and childless. That's Charlotte when she disembarks from the plane in Getaway Bay. She wants to get away, that's for sure. She thought the best way to do that was to buy a run-down house overlooking the bay, knowing she'll need all her fixer-upper skills to get it in shape. Which is just fine. She's hoping as she overhauls the house, she'll get a life makeover too. She was not expecting a tall, handsome man to be under the kitchen sink when she arrives at the supposedly abandoned house. She wasn't expecting to get drenched when the non-plumber twists something the wrong way. And she certainly wasn't expecting her heart to be well enough to feel anything for anyone. But former Air Force pilot, Dawson Dane, has a charming devil-may-care personality, and Charlotte could use some carefree laughter in her life. But everything with Dawson isn't sunshine and unicorns. He's estranged from his family, though he does speak to one of his brothers. And he's never committed to anything except his career, even choosing flying over an engagement years ago. The Island House. This is a sweet clean romance filled with emotional settings that pull at your heartstrings and a sweet HEA ending. I’d recommend this book especially as a summer beach read or for a way to get rid of the winter blues!

Sweet. Stories like this prove romance novels don’t need to be full of sex to be engaging. It was a wonderful change to read a book focused on love and emotion rather than just lust.
Good. I enjoyed the book. It was clean and sweet. I was disappointed that the author had Charlotte make a big fuss over her sister throughout the book and it was never truly addressed. Charlotte has all these pent up emotions about her sister- I.e. not wanting to call her sister back, or her sister being stiff towards Dawson. I was waiting for some further explanation but instead the author had me invested on the back story to then totally drop it. Other than that it was a nice and easy read.
Takes you away. Sweet romance. Refreshing. Great to escape this crazy world and read a “happily ever after.”

The Island House. Loved the characters, the story and the HEA. Both Dawson and Charlotte had issues due to broken relationships that made them question their ability to have a true-love lasting future with anyone. This is an easy, fun read and best of all it is a clean romance, which makes it so much more romantic. Romance in Hawaii. What could be more romantic than falling in love with a handsome stranger in Hawaii? They meet at an inopportune time but love waits for no one! They both have baggage that they bring to the relationship which almost causes them to go their separate ways. A must read! Loved it!

Perfect for young readers. If you are looking for a book without graphic sex, or any sex for that matter, this is it. I would be glad to hand it to a tween or young teen without that concern. My biggest objection is the whole idea of falling head over heals in love with someone you’ve just met. You may fall into like, but love takes more time. Anyway, it’s a simple storyline, told a million times over, but, thankfully without anything that would embarrass young or old! It’s very short, more of a novella.
The Island House. I am a mystery/non-fiction reader, but truly enjoyed this book. It kept going when you thought it might end, and when you thought you knew what might happen it didn’t happen. A nice change of reading.
