A MURDER IN PARIS is the debut novel in a charming new cozy mystery series by USA Today bestselling author Blake Pierce, whose #1 bestseller Once Gone has received 1,500 five-star reviews.

Diana Hope, 55, is still adjusting to her recent separation when she discovers her ex-husband has just proposed to a woman 30 years younger. Secretly hoping they would reunite, Diana is devastated. She realizes the time has come to reimagine life without him—in fact, to reimagine her life, period.

Devoting the last 30 years of her life to being a dutiful wife and mother and to climbing the corporate ladder, Diana has been relentlessly driven, and has not taken a moment to do anything for herself. Now, the time has come.

Diana never forgot her first boyfriend, who begged her to join him for a year in Europe after college. She had wanted to go so badly, but it had seemed like a wild, romantic idea, and a gap year, she’d thought, would hinder her resume and career. But now, with her daughters grown, her husband gone, and her career no longer fulfilling, Diana realizes it’s time for herself—and to take that romantic year in Europe she’d always dreamed of.

Diana prepares to embark on the year of her life, finally turning to her bucket list, hoping to tour the most beautiful sights and sample the most scrumptious cuisines—and maybe, even, to fall in love again. But a year in Europe may have different plans in store for her. Can A-type Diana learn to go with the flow, to be spontaneous, to let down her guard and to learn to truly enjoy life again?

In A MURDER IN PARIS (Book #1), Diana hopes to kick off her journey, and find new love, with an unforgettable night at the Versailles ball. But when the dramatic night takes a harrowing turn she could never expect, Diana realizes she will have to solve the crime—or else have her trip end in disaster.

A YEAR IN EUROPE is a charming and laugh-out-loud cozy mystery series, packed with food and travel, with mysteries that will leave you on the edge of your seat, and with experiences that will leave you with a sense of wonder. As Diana embarks on her quixotic quest for love and meaning, you will find yourself falling in love and rooting for her. You will be in shock at the twists and turns her journey takes as she somehow finds herself at the center of a mystery, and must play amateur sleuth to solve it. Fans of books like Eat, Pray, Love and Under the Tuscan Sun have finally found the cozy mystery series they’ve been hoping for!

Book #2 (DEATH IN FLORENCE) and book #3 (VENGEANCE IN VIENNA) in the series are now also available!

Couldn’t put it down. Story line makes you keep reading. Loved it!

Good read. Interesting and entertaining characters. Lots of twists and turns with plenty of drama thrown in. Keeps you hooked from the first page. Like the older characters in the story. Great location for mystery and intrigue. Good read. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Interesting murder mystery. Diane wanted to do something different with her life. She quit her job and purchased a plane ticket to Paris. Planning to attend a costume ball, she became embroiled in a murder and theft of a jewel necklace. The police weren’t adequately looking for the perpetrators, so she got involved.

DBZinger

Not your typical “Who done it” novel.. Easy read that kept reading longer than normal. Like in life, this novel used the back drop of Paris, a murder and a theft, to keep the reader reading while all along driving the point that plans are made to be broken. Very entertaining while also believable.

Readmeagoodstory

Diana is dumb…. The main character and storyline is ridiculous.

Ano ang pangalan

Murder in Paris. Interesting turn of events when a overly organized woman decided to quit her job and try to find her first love

Rxnjsquir

another rejected female trying to be relevant. same fluffy mystery with chubby female focused on food. at least there were no recipes. another "soft" woman butting into police investigations with no consequences. same story different setting.

Casablanca3.14

A Murder in Paris. Terrible! If I could give it zero stars I would. I struggled through half of it, with the main character - supposedly a mature, intelligent, accomplished executive - rhapsodizing ditzily about Paris, romance, and dreaming about rekindling a relationship with a man she hadn’t seen in thirty years. A Murder in Paris?? This is a romance novel, period, and unbelievable at that, filled with every negative stereotype about France and the French, from body odor to rudeness to smoke-filled restaurants. The author’s descriptions of Parisian geography (strolling from la Sainte Chapelle to Notre Dame, taking a wrong turn and winding up at Pere Lachaise Cemetery?) and her misspelled French phrases made me wonder if she has ever even been to Paris. After way too many pages of pounding heartbeats and heaving breasts, with no murder (or believable characters) in sight, I finally gave up. My only consolation is that it was a free download.

Dramatic!. This was a very quick, fun read! Loved all of the crazy twists & turns I’ve come to expect from Pierce. Well done! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

GGRANNY.

A Murder In Paris. I Love Diana. But how did she age 3 years in two weeks? She was 52 in this book. The #2 book says she is 55! Come on, y’all lets stay on track. I will keep reading of course❗️

I❤️duggies!!!

Bruh. I searched up dogs and this stupid book came up. If you read it your prob as dumb as the main character, many comments said, Diana? I guess her name is was very dumb and stupid

Universe2892

Well written.. Murder happens after the better half part. The MC, Diana, age above 50 years old, a marketing manager just become Sergeant Jade Monroe after the murder happens, especially when she wasn’t even interested in detective type things before. She continuously chose to break the law and thinks that she knows better than the police. Surprisingly the police didn’t even ask her the details of whoever she had contact with in the party. She just gradually remembered all that. Thankfully, she let police do their jobs in the end. Overall, its a good read though!

BrisketBaby

Just not believable. Too fluffy even for me.

Angeltobe

Murder in the city of Paris. When a midlife crisis hits what better place to go but Paris. Besides 30 years ago Diane Hope had an amazing boyfriend in college who was Royalty from France and they always promised to meet at his family’s ball in Versailles. She quits her corporate job hops a plane and walked write into a murder mystery. Life used to be boring but not anymore for Diana. What happens in Paris stays in Paris.

DaiAlanye

Well . . .?. Decently written but naively plotted. After having published a skillion books, surely an author should do better than this.

Issy's MomMom

Typical “Pierce”. For those not in the know, the books by Blake Pierce that are churned out so quickly are written by a collective group of authors that don’t edit their works. Whoever wrote this installment did a better job than most. Good read but only one error that I caught. Insurance “broken” rather than broker.

Quovaldis

Enjoy. Murder in Paris was an excellent book to enjoy reading for the summer.

Tvl2mch

Not sure what I want to be. Romance novel? Mystery? This book isn’t much of anything. One dimensional characters, more scenery than mystery. If the main character weren’t a successful woman in her 50’s this should be in YA. No interest in finding out what happens in Florence or elsewhere. It will be a long year.

Kitty kat41

Paris what a town. Could not put this book down. Exciting and frightening and fun all at the same time. Joyce in Boise,id

HappymommyVB

Fun read!. It was great but too short! I’m ready for more.

Midnite reader

Bad French and poor research. If you want a simple mystery keep it local and it might work. But if you set something in Paris, at least google the locations so you know how long it takes to travel from the city to Versailles. And if you are going to include French phrases, get a real French speaker to proof them. Poor research takes away from everything else. This story would have worked much better set in a BnB in a small town no one knew.

Broomhilda pip

Murder in Paris. Very entertaining

Cpaustin

Good book. A good easy read book. I always love books about things that happen in Paris.

Lmgsills

Really good!. It was fast paced, fun, and loved the bits a France intertwined.

Gweneeth

Murder in Paris. Mysteries are supposed to be believable. This one wasn’t. Over 50 lady conveniently finds trellis and climbs to some guys apt to accuse him of stealing a priceless necklace. I don’t think so. Just/one of many craaye threads to this story. Thanks anyway. G

Clean romancer

Murder in paris. Loved the characters. Well written with a good flow. Kept wanting to get back to reading. My idea is a book that makes me want to take time out from the world & get lost in the characters and their lives.

Pins4

A Murder In Paris. Loved the book. So interesting. I have read quite a few of the authors books and I’ve enjoyed then all. Will keep reading his books as I know they are great!

Joanmillergrover

Interesting read, but predictable. Starts out interesting, but the plot was somewhat predictable

Ilovejeh96

Fun Read. I found the book quite easy to read, and I wanted to come back to it consistently until I finished. I would love to have seen a couple of supporting characters more fleshed out, but maybe in the next installment.

Meandering moments

Don’t bother. Not worth wasting time on...

Mzt121

Not a main character I’d root for. The heroine wasn’t very likeable. Maybe after she grows a backbone I could read this series. Her daughter was insufferable. Her boss was beyond selfish as was her ex. And she just took it all.

Chaaaarlottee

Yes. Pleasantly entertaining

Dogleen

French grammar totally wrong. Terrible and too repetitive and I know it’s fiction but totally unbelievable.

Catlover Phantom

Noice. Amazing and very unexpecting(which is basically very exciting). It is such a good book that I can even connect my emotions with the story and its mood!

Farigrator

Interestingly hooked. This book brings a different side of the city of love. In a city with all those attractions, the story draws a picture to expect the unexpected. As for the storyline, even though it had a nice plot it would have been better if the story was a little bit more prolonged. All in all you go through a lot while reading the book.

Anniecitron

Disappointing. Not a good read - not helped by the addition of incorrect French.

Ttttttttallen

It was ok…. It was overall ok, not the best work and a tad too drawn out for my liking but curiosity always gets the better of me so I’ll never not finish a book. And for that reason I’ll be reading the next one

About Author "Blake Pierce"

Charles Pierce (July 14, 1926 – May 31, 1999) was one of the 20th century's foremost female impersonators, particularly noted for his impersonation of Bette Davis. Life and career Born in Watertown, New York, he began his show business career playing the organ and acting in radio dramas at station WWNY. He branched out into a comedy routine, attired in tuxedo, yet managing to evoke eerily convincing imitations of popular movie actresses. Eschewing the term drag queen, which he hated, he billed himself as a male actress. Initially playing in small gay clubs, his fame spread. He took up residence in San Francisco, where his act became well known to Hollywood stars. As he toured, his costuming became more elaborate, initially adding small props, later full costume and makeup changes. His imitations were imitated by other female impersonators, and his roles included Bette Davis, Mae West, Tallulah Bankhead, Gloria Swanson, Carol Channing, Katharine Hepburn, and Joan Crawford, and these ....
