#1 New York Times Bestseller

From Liane Moriarty, the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Big Little Lies and Nine Perfect Strangers, comes Apples Never Fall, a novel that looks at marriage, siblings, and how the people we love the most can hurt us the deepest.

The Delaney family love one another dearlyit’s just that sometimes they want to murder each other . . .

If your mother was missing, would you tell the police? Even if the most obvious suspect was your father?

This is the dilemma facing the four grown Delaney siblings.

The Delaneys are fixtures in their community. The parents, Stan and Joy, are the envy of all of their friends. They’re killers on the tennis court, and off it their chemistry is palpable. But after fifty years of marriage, they’ve finally sold their famed tennis academy and are ready to start what should be the golden years of their lives. So why are Stan and Joy so miserable?

The four Delaney children—Amy, Logan, Troy, and Brooke—were tennis stars in their own right, yet as their father will tell you, none of them had what it took to go all the way. But that’s okay, now that they’re all successful grown-ups and there is the wonderful possibility of grandchildren on the horizon.

One night a stranger named Savannah knocks on Stan and Joy’s door, bleeding after a fight with her boyfriend. The Delaneys are more than happy to give her the small kindness she sorely needs. If only that was all she wanted.

Later, when Joy goes missing, and Savannah is nowhere to be found, the police question the one person who remains: Stan. But for someone who claims to be innocent, he, like many spouses, seems to have a lot to hide. Two of the Delaney children think their father is innocent, two are not so sure—but as the two sides square off against each other in perhaps their biggest match ever, all of the Delaneys will start to reexamine their shared family history in a very new light.

Apples Never Fall. Shocking in an unexpected way. Very perceptive in regards to family dynamics. I loved this book.

Gypsytank

Not my favorite. Hard to get thru finally just skipped to end to see what happened.

Bringcurrentsback

Really enjoyable read. Relationships, figuring out who we are, a murder mystery, it’s all here. Sounds cliche but I didn’t want to put this one down.

Xandrazoo

Well written but the protagonist is hard to root for. I liked this author’s writing style, but some of the poor judgment calls the main character makes are disappointing and perhaps over-simplify things a little. That said, I really enjoyed some of the plot twists and genuinely did not see them coming.

Tsg59jw

Terrible!. Couldn’t even finish the book…don’t bother!

Zoezoebrt

Get to the point….. I love reading, but this book was so incredibly so long winded. I don’t know if this author was trying to make a certain page count or what, but I was so over the dialogue that had zero point to the story.

Lschnitty

Loved it. I found this book hard to get into at first, but once I was in it, I was in it! This book had me laughing and crying. I love the characters, and the family dynamics. Great twists and turns like always!

HilaryL40

Great examination of a messy loving family. A great engaging quick read. Moriarty is so hilarious, I kept laughing aloud. Perfect if you’re in the mood for something well-written yet entertaining.

Ktodd8888

So so. It was ok. It seemed never ending, and I love long books.

Vecina nueva

Couldn’t put it down!. Intriguing and entertaining

Andrealynnstuartfarris

Great. I didn’t want it to end

Smfd3223

Disappointing ending. I love this author but finished the book feeling disappointed 😩 I always enjoyed her style of writing but felt the ending missed the mark.

Hjlab1

Too long winded. I was enjoying the slow burn character study of the family as it relates to the mother’s disappearance. But I felt the book could have ended about 10 chapters sooner. And the last chapter twist could have come after the reveal earlier.

Mimii Jan

Apples Never Fall. A good read. Kept my attention until the end. Sort of a surprise ending, not what I expected.

Lthoma2

Tennis is one dimensional. Never read a book about a tennis family. What is that, even? Nice character development - they were interesting but I had no respect for any of them.

Jenna_kk

Eh. I love books about big families but this one was a chore to get through. Joy is a delightful character and the issues she’s is dealing with are very relatable. The rest of the characters, however, don’t bring a lot to the table. As others have mentioned, the introduction of COVID at the very end was unnecessary.

Whim1954

Good read. A little slow at times, I stopped and started reading this book several times. But it all wraps up nicely. Love the Aussie and tennis tie ins.

Anabellegoodier

Very boring. I was so bored like omf

Mywaynichols76

Good read. This was a really good book with so much depth. The ending brings everything together nicely and helps the reader better understand each character and their actions. I enjoyed it very much.

_zaxery

No actual moral struggle but still cried aw. I’m so sick of the trend where a novel has no actual moral struggle this trope in contemporary literature is quite tired. Still entertaining none the less. May have cried a few times aw family stuff is always so sweet. Sometimes you need a novel just like this.

Jaylen Chapman

Apples. Letter A loves apples, and apple pie, and even alligators.

Sue Kuch

Amazing in a nutshell. Loved every page. Great style and plot. Kudos!

T_and_d_mama

Struggled!. This took me ages to get through, there just wasn’t enough of a plot to drag me in. I love this author, her character descriptions, and jumping from one narrative to another, but this one just wasn’t a hit for me. Not sure how I feel about bringing COVID into the story at the end also.

Gtytyv

Apples Never Fall. Just so incredibly boring.

Debikay45

Apples Never Fall. I’m so sorry I read this book. Terrible and a waste of my money

Dullam

Great read. Very interesting story with an intriguing plot twist.

Absg99

Liane Moriarty. Moriarty has once again created characters that invite me into their stories, while weaving a mystery around them.

Pollyfarmer

Excellent. I loved this book! It is a beautiful rumination on the nature of family love, sibling rivalry and human nature. Each character, no matter what bit part they play, lends depth to the tapestry of humor and insight that Moriarty weaves.

KathyMatte

Apples Never Fall. Thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. Very suspenseful from the first page to the very last page.

Bukkala

Couldn’t put it down. As usual…her books are amazing! Couldn’t put my this down! Probably so far one of my favorites! Hoping she is working on her next book!!

Hkngukb

Moriarty Fan Disappointed. As an avid Moriarty fan, I couldn’t wait to devour her newest release. This is unlike anything else she’s written. 2/3 of the book is unnecessary fluff. Although she writes dialogue that is so raw and nuanced, there just is no plot around it. It drones on for long, nearly intolerable stretches that left me wondering- when is something going to “happen” to drive the plot forward? It was a struggle to finish, but I persevered because I have such a fondness for her work. I wouldn’t purchase this book again.

Hawaiianluvr_3447

Slow read... I struggled to finish this one. The back stories just wore me down and I lost interest.

PaigeShow

Needs to be edited by half….. Apples Never Fall by Liane Moriarty is a twisted who done it that is very odd. The first half of the book is all about character development, the next quarter of the book is the actual who done it part, and the last quarter of the book begins with telling you exactly what happened and then goes on to finish character development by updating you about each character in the book. Very odd in deed. I like who done its but this one I can’t honestly recommend as I just could not become a fan no matter how hard I tried. I wish her editor had edited half of the book away, as there was soooooo much fluff, not just fluff but unnecessary fluff. Sorry for the poor review but this is the nicest I could make it. Keep in my this is just my opinion, maybe you could like it. ⭐️⭐️ @LianeMoriarty #LianeMoriarty #ApplesNeverFall #ApplesNeverFallByLianeMoriarty #Bookstagram @BooksPaigeRead #BooksPaigeRead

K-stin

Very engaging. I like Liane’s books as they are easy to slip, into the work when other things are going on around you. I was very engaged in this book and loved it from start to finish. I don’t know what book other reviewers read. I feel like they maybe didn’t really read this one. I liked how details were interwoven and thought that was creative. I liked how the end was a little different than her usual book. I really enjoyed all of it.

Whitmben

Delightful. Such a delightful book that only grew in delight as it went on. Long but, in the end, worth it.

DrSnackSize

Slow. I had a hard time getting into it and would've quit reading hadn't it been the book we were reading for a book club.

AliOsh1800

Fun and funny and keep me guessing. I don’t usually enjoy back and forth times lines but this one had to be written that way and it was great. I feel I I knew all the characters mad liked them warts and all. The plot sucked me in but I did not guess where it would turn. A family with grown kids undertakes a deep dive of self reflection into their individual broken personalities during a murder investigation. Very enjoyable!

Berna5kids

Underwhelmed. Took me for ever to finish. I would stop and read other books because I would lose interest. It was ok at the end but way too wordy and if you don’t like or understand tennis it’s even more annoying.

Box Diggy

page turner. compelling mystery wrapped up in a delicious story of family life with four children . A telling of cherished memories and the sometimes overwhelming urge to beat those siblings when it came to the parent’s love and attention. All of this overlayed by a story of a marriage both ordinary and extraordinary. A must read.

AWriterWhoReads

Meh. Cardboard characters and a random (totally out of place) ending involving Covid. Not her best novel.

Poseygirll87

Not the best. To long to get to the point, not engaging until the ending. Just not one of her good ones for me.

TKScrabble

Different, intriguing, well-written. I really enjoyed this book. It kept My attention after a little slow start, but the characters are developed very nicely so that you feel like you know them. The story is intriguing, interesting, and mysterious with a few surprises-one big one!!

Slrl3

Not my favorite. I enjoyed Big Little Lies which was written by this same author , so I was hopeful to like this book… but I was really disappointed. So much fluff and unnecessary details. At one point I really was interested in the outcome of the story… but When the mystery was finally solved, I was disappointed in the outcome and I don’t think involving the pandemic was necessary.

74tt1

Really good…until it wasn’t. Pretty good page turner…a little disappointing to bring recent events in at the end - had nothing to do with the rest of the plot and was an unnecessary distraction.

Jonnadoodle

Very slow. I loved her other books, this one dragged on.

Deb Nunn

Apples Don’t Fall. Absolutely loved this book! I thought it started slow but I savored the read rather than rushing through it.

Shamrock0720

Best book of the year!. I adore Liane and have read every book she’s written. She creates real characters who you feel like you know. Her stories are interesting and fun to read. Can’t wait to see what she comes up with next.

Rosie Lynn 65

Never ceases to entertain. I was introduced to Liane Moriarty through a book club I joined. I was hooked! Life stepped up it’s pace and I lost time for reading but have now recently retired and this was the first book I chose to get back to what I enjoy most - the telling of a good story. I could not have chosen a better book. She spins the web of the tale like no other and the quick twists and turns lead down a route that fascinates and entertains. Just as you think you’ve figured out the course the direction changes and you are off again trying to grasp how the story will wrap up. This book in particular was brilliant in that you start it thinking it’s about one character when in fact the focus is on a completely different character - one you never suspect. I’ve been and avid reader all of my life and pride myself in my ability to figure out the “who dun it” before the book reveals it. Ms. Moriarty has kept me guessing right up to the reveal in each of her tales - not only do I enjoy the telling of the story - I love the challenge! Anxiously awaiting her next work.

ROGER WALTERS

Over Written. I slogged my way through this book. What is the point of this book? Even to the end, I kept hoping for something, but never found it. I’ll never read another of her over written mish mash of a book.

Jojo2731

This is a pass. Found this book to be slow and boring, anti-climatic.

Fabulous read. So interesting and well written a fabulous read

CJM Vancouver Island, Canada

Page-turner. I couldn’t put it down, as evidenced by my not accomplishing another thing but to read for almost two days. I would rather have given the rating of 4.5, but it’s not possible on my device. I can’t wait to start my next Liane Moriarty novel.

Slkusz

Excellent. Really, really good Fairly long, but a great read

Skipper Ted

Apple never falls…. This to be the worst book I’ve read by Liane Moriarity. Boring plot, and seemed to drag on forever. I almost felt like she hadn’t written this book!

Magskm101

Disappointing. Needed editing.. I found myself skimming through large portions. Disappointed.

Plutop

Exhausted. Love this author and her work. This book started out good, looked forward to reading it. Then it was impossible. Every current event in story immediately flopped back to the past. Way too much useless description of characters, tedious. Finally finished and my summary is if you want to read this author go back to old books because this was bad!

Sara Joelle

Liane is at it again!. In true Liane Moriarty fashion, this book was a page turner that left me wanting to spend every free second reading, waiting for the truth to be uncovered with an inevitable twist that really makes you think.

Crewp

Skipped the middle. And didn’t miss anything.

Cynjune

Excellent. Lianne never disappoints

Smeyer19

Rambling mess. The story just rambles on, almost incoherently near the end.
