Fun summer reading. After reading this book, I have a desire to visit Nantucket and the green room with its three nudges.

Golden Girl. I believe I slipped from life and was plopped smack dab into the middle of Nantucket. Was I actually a character in this book? That’s how enchanting and truly engaging Golden Girl feels. What a wonderful albeit bittersweet vacation that I never wanted to have to leave. Hooray to Summer Girl, for the sunlit glow that never ends.

Golden Girl. Always a writer of people and personalities! Enjoy the summer feel and beauty of Nantucket (especially if you’ve been there). Elin Hilderbrand always weaves a tale of families and relationships that are interesting and curious.

Ok. Not my favorite of her novels but still a good read.

Where has Elin gone?. Such a disappointment. I wanted the Summer of ‘69 and got a messy sitcom. Absolutely zero character development. Only 14.99 but what a waste of my time. Like a Lily Pulitzer dress in all the wrong colors. Really? What a waste of talent. Bring your game again.

Another Bestseller. I will admit I hesitated before buying “Golden Girl” as I felt the plot sounded so different from all the other novels by EH. However, one of the reviews of “Golden Girl” touched me so deeply, describing the story as “full of love, family, and EH famous lovable characters “; well I purchased it and am so thankful I did. It is definitely a different type of plot, but it is still a typical EH novel, filled with unforgettable characters, family situations that most people can relate to. It is a page-turner and another best-seller. I found myself reminiscing about the past, of lost love, of new beginnings, and most of all about choices made and paths taken. “Golden Girl” is a book that truly is remarkable. I hope we will see more of Elin’s characters; Vivi, Willa, Carson, Leo, JP, Savannah, Amy and Dennis.

A MUST READ!!!. Absolutely Amazing!! From the beginning to the end!! A special book indeed!! I will definitely be recommending this book to all my friends!!

Great summer read. I will admit, I heard so many good things about this book, I couldn’t wait to read it. Vivian Howe, an author, living in Nantucket, is killed by a hit and run driver while out on her morning jog. She leaves behind three grieving children, all with their own issues and now having to deal with the loss of their mother. She also leaves behind her best friend Savannah, an ex husband JP and a novel getting ready to be published. The story has several different narrators, but stays consistent with what’s going on within the story. The hit and run, though it is part of the story, is actually not the crux of it. The crux of the story is when Vivi arrives in the Beyond, she is given three nudges to assist the people she cares about and is only given the summer to use them, but she must use them judiciously. Fortunately for Vivi she’s given someone to aid her through the process. Each one of the characters within the story have their own flaws, their own secrets, grieves in their own way, and handles adversity differently which keeps the story interesting and keeps the reader engaged. Also threaded within the story is the fact that Vivi herself had a secret she never shared with any of them. Elin Hilderbrand has woven a story so enthralling that you will have a hard time putting this book down. Hildebrand’s characters are people most readers can identify with and relate to. This is the first book book I’ve read by this author and definitely plan on reading more. This is definitely a great summer read, but truly is just a really good book to read anytime.

Golden Girl. I enjoyed the book but there were a lot of characters. It can get pretty confusing if you read in bits and pieces and when you have time —as I do.

Very predictable story line. I’ve read most of Elin Hilderbrand’s books and this was the least enjoyable. The characters are not endearing and the plot is transparent.

I loved the title. I found characters well defined and the premise novel. Bitter sweet. Especially, if you’re in the winter of your life and facing your own mortality. It’s an easy read and keeps your attention. I really enjoyed this book.

Horrible!. Just downloaded after eagerly awaiting…and after reading the sample, which seemed ok. BUT this is HORRIBLE. Can’t get on board with the hurried writing, shallow character development and shaky plotline. If you expect the Hilderbrand of Silver Girl and Blue Bistor, let me save you the money and tell you this is NOT even close in quality writing and storyline.

Wonderful story!. I really love the authors writing style. The book was a great read and very entertaining. The characters were are well developed and interesting.

Not the best..... Huge fan but didn’t enjoy this as much as her other books. Found the “crossing over & flying around” just a bit weird.

Ok book. Did not find it as good as her other books. Long and drawn out. Once you get about 3/4 thru it, it starts to get better and I was glad I did finish it.

Golden Girl. One of EH’s very best…I picked it up on a self indulgent Saturday afternoon and binge read the entire book. And I have to say that I loved every non-guilty minute of it.

Beautiful read. Ready to re-read. So many points, so many stories happening. I cannot wait for the next one. Hopefully picking up with Vivi’s kids or Savannah Hamilton and her life.

Golden Girl gets and Oscar. I have read all of Elin’s books. She is my favorite author. This one, however, takes the cake. So many parallels to my own life I was awestruck several times while reading. As usual the character development (and food description!) is so good it’s hard to walk away from my new friends. Can’t wait to read it again!

Touching. Another great view of family life on Nantucket. So much history and connected lives, and a wide range of emotions.

Golden Girl. Great book so far. The only negative is that the reader has an annoyingly choppy and fast voice. I wish I had not bought the audio book.

Boring. This is the 4th book I’ve read by this author. The others were fairly entertaining; not great. This one was far too boring and just plain strange to me. It will be the last I read by Elin.
