It Happened One Summer by Tessa Bailey Book Summary

USA TODAY BESTSELLER

Tessa Bailey is back with a Schitt’s Creek-inspired rom-com about a Hollywood “It Girl” who’s cut off from her wealthy family and exiled to a small Pacific Northwest beach town... where she butts heads with a surly, sexy local who thinks she doesn’t belong.

As seen on E!Online, PopSugar, CNN, EliteDaily, Vulture, Buzzfeed, Bustle, the Nerd Daily, PARADE, LA Magazine, Country Living, USA Today, and more!

Piper Bellinger is fashionable, influential, and her reputation as a wild child means the paparazzi are constantly on her heels. When too much champagne and an out-of-control rooftop party lands Piper in the slammer, her stepfather decides enough is enough. So he cuts her off, and sends Piper and her sister to learn some responsibility running their late father’s dive bar... in Washington.

Piper hasn’t even been in Westport for five minutes when she meets big, bearded sea captain Brendan, who thinks she won’t last a week outside of Beverly Hills. So what if Piper can’t do math, and the idea of sleeping in a shabby apartment with bunk beds gives her hives. How bad could it really be? She’s determined to show her stepfather—and the hot, grumpy local—that she’s more than a pretty face.

Except it’s a small town and everywhere she turns, she bumps into Brendan. The fun-loving socialite and the gruff fisherman are polar opposites, but there’s an undeniable attraction simmering between them. Piper doesn’t want any distractions, especially feelings for a man who sails off into the sunset for weeks at a time. Yet as she reconnects with her past and begins to feel at home in Westport, Piper starts to wonder if the cold, glamorous life she knew is what she truly wants. LA is calling her name, but Brendan—and this town full of memories—may have already caught her heart.

Easy to ready, lay on the beach kind of read. Not the worlds best written book, but definitely one you can finish quickly.

Nothing else needs to be said, In love with Brendan & Piper 🤍🤍🤍

This has been one of my favorite books I’ve read! I actually finished it and then read it again it was so good. I can not wait for the second book to come out to find out about Hannah’s story ☺️

Idk about you, but I definitely want me a Brendan Taggart 🥺🥺 I enjoyed this book throughly. It took me longer to finish this book because I kept rereading scenes to the smallest details. But I absolutely adored this.

This book is literally so amazing! It was almost as if I was reading a dirty Hallmark😂 But seriously, I read this book all in one day and I will probably do it many more times. It kept my attention, my emotions, and my heart for the short few hours it was in my hand. You won’t regret reading this!

This is a laugh out loud, joyful book.

It should be a crime for women to write men this good.

This book was such a surprise for me. I admit to judging the first couple chapters to be the typical enemies to lovers trope. I've read so many lately that sometimes they just blend into one book. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that while it started out that way, there was nothing typical about Piper and Brendan. It didn't take long for these two to stand out and make me love them. For a spoiled rich girl, Piper was extremely likable. I really enjoyed that she wasn't typical for the roll she was slated too. Yes she had a superficial lifestyle, but when she was put the to the test, she excelled better than I would have. She had spunk. She was kind. She drew strangers and made them feel special. She's exactly the kind of heroine I can root for. Brendan started out very growly, gruff, and even rude at first. And I loved every bit of his fall to Piper. The moment he decided he wasn't going to fight it, she didn't have a chance. No woman would. I adored how he pursued her. These two shouldn't have fit so well but they were perfect for each other. This is one of those books that had me smiling so big when I finished it. I really enjoyed it and I hope the sisters book will be just as good.

Hysterical, steamy, and heartfelt enemies to lovers. I was hooked from the very start, and the chemistry between Piper and Brendan was off the charts! I really loved the character development and how both Piper and Brendan grew on their own and together through the book. Highly recommend this one! *I was sent an ARC prior to release in exchange for my honest review.

When I read reviews on this book that it wasn’t that great …I was a little hesitant going in. But now I understand what it is . Ok yes Piper is a spoiled brat when you read about her at the beginning you tell yourself what is this book wow can’t do it …. Stop!! It’s just the beginning keep reading. Tessa B . Never disappoints . This book was a great read . Enjoyed everything about it even the spoiled brad ;)

I was stunned by this book! At first Piper annoyed me. I didn’t think the story would go anywhere with her being an “airhead” but man oh man, it got really good. Simply couldn’t put it down, read it all in one day.

Do yourself a favour and read this BOOK

One of my favourites! Loved it

This book was such a fun, breezy read! With two vastly different but equally lovable leads, hilarious dialogue, a quaint seaside town and allllll the steamy scenes— what more could you need?! Loved it!

Really fantastic romantic read, the characters are loveable and keep you coming back for more.

A great story, I enjoyed the characters, the setting and the story. Well worth the read.
