Jack Ryan, Jr., will do anything for a friend, but this favor will be paid for in blood in the latest electric entry in the #1 New York Times bestselling series.

Jack Ryan, Jr. would do anything for Ding Chavez. That's why Jack is currently sitting in an open-air market in Israel, helping a CIA team with a simple job. The man running the mission, Peter Beltz, is an old friend from Ding's Army days. Ding hadn't seen his friend since Peter's transfer to the CIA eighteen months prior, and intended to use the assignment to reconnect. Unfortunately, Ding had to cancel at the last minute and asked Jack to take his place. It's a cushy assignment--a trip to Israel in exchange for a couple hours of easy work, but Jack could use the downtime after his last operation.

Jack is here merely as an observer, but when he hastens to help a woman and her young son, he finds himself the target of trained killers. Alone and outgunned, Jack will have to use all his skills to protect the life of the child.

Exciting thriller filled with new surprises in every page. Great build up to a whirlwind of excitement and action filled suspense! The unraveling had me pausing to get a cup of coffee to better accompany the plot as it threw surprise after surprise at me. Although the superhero and double “o” agent fusion portrayal of Jack Jr seemed a little off character, it was still exciting to read. If anything can be said to be missing is a more appropriate wind down from the action. Not only does it leave one panting as if just stopping mid sprint, it left some threads of the story hanging without closure. Feels like a mission debrief was in order after the mother of potential crisis has just been tamed! It feels like an epilogue or a closing chapter was somehow forgotten somewhere.

Target Acquired. Very disappointing. Bentley went way over the top with the Jack Ryan character making him look like super man. Even with being nailed to a cross, stabbed, shot, broken shoulder, still he managed to complete his unauthorized mission without flying like Super Man. However, there were some very good chapters as well that were page turners, most were just BLA! Very disappointing.

Glenview reader

Good not great. Good not great

Lots and Little. LOTS of action … way on the too-much-to-be-remotely-credible side. LITTLE character development. I’ll keep reading the series because I’m hooked, but disappointed that it isn’t better.

SuperBrokerDave

Poorly written. The worst! Jack Ryan Jr morphs into Duke Nukem, completely out of character.

Cabinet Company

Great read. Great read

Missing something…... As captivating as jack ryan jr’s character is their was a disconnect. Unlike prior reads, there was no time spent with reviewing the perspectives of the story as seen by jack ryan sr. nor his comrades at the Campus. The story really lacked the perspective of including his father’s, the President as well as the DNA and his comrade Ding and his boss. Really missed the boat and I have read every Jack Ryan senior and junior book

Toburenm

Worst Clancy Book ever. I’ve read almost every Jack Ryan/Jr book, sad it has gotten this bad.

Mirage Flyer

Not the best. Way too much time spent on ridiculous injuries suffered by the hero and his Superman ability to overcome them.

Chugachxbn

Best of the Jack Jr Ghost Writers. Excellent!

PattyCake68

Target Acquired. Great

Reader's Cramp

Where’s Jack. New author for this series who failed miserably to capture the original Jack Jr.

User7maast

Not great writing…. A little over done and exaggerate…. Worse than the usual stuff

Bejjim

Another Whiff. Why waste a whole book on another Jack Ryan screwed up adventure. He’s a small character in the Campus organization and goes rogue again! Too many coincidences and a simple plot line. At least take us in the world of the bad guys. These books have lowered down to a simple beach read.

JPB 9871

Tom Clancy Target Aquired. Really, really good! An excellent thriller, adventure novel. I very much enjoyed it.

Ghostrover78

Tom Clancy’s Target Acquired. A roller coast of a ride reading Don Bentley’s Target Acquired. Action throughout. Good storyline from the ground to the air. Locked and loaded.

Old Islander

Not worth it.. Disappointed. Short story. Only Jack Jr. None of the other favourite Clancy characters.

What just happened ?. Spoilers ! Not sure what I just read , was it a RAMBO reboot or a wanna be Die Hard script. Jack almost singlehandedly takes on Iran and Russia’s special forces while dealing with a compound full of suicidal jihadis ? All the while severely wounded from several blows to the head and being shot and nailed. Also , even though he’s captured twice by several spies , no one recognizes he’s the president of the USAs son ? More spies , less Rambo next time. Not a great read.
