Beautiful and painful. This book is moving, painful, and true. She writes about sexual assault, love, sex, relationships, self love, and the power of women. As well as the power of friendship. I love everything Rupi has written, and this book definitely measures up. A wonderful read!
Ehhhh not the best. This book was completely underwhelming, I love the first book she wrote but this was kind of a let down. It didn’t come off as very poetic to me. It came off more like a rehearsal of statements of present day issues in relation to herself. I agree with it all but I Didn’t love it from a poetic stand point

The Best Yet. This not only was one of her best works, but it spoke to so many things. Things that make people feel uncomfortable and raw, but brings healing and understanding to a lot. I was able to note on many pages & give to my little sister to read. Love this book forever!

Transperant. Trigger Warning for those not familiar with Rupi Kaur’s work or victims of past trauma themselves. Many sensitive themes are covered in this collection by the poet. The subject matter in this collection is dark and unnerving. At the same time Rupi Kaur’s brave representation of her struggles through poetry and drawings is oddly up-lifting. In that, from the beginning the damage and struggle are laid bare. The journey through the collection is not one to some final end point of being “healed” but a glimpse into the journey itself. There are moments of despair painstakingly detailed, vistas of promising days ahead, and all the minutiae in-between. This level of transparency in this format comes at a sacrifice. The artist examining pieces of themselves under an unforgiving microscope of writing and then offering it up to the world. From all of that mining for coal comes a few great diamonds in this ensemble. Her ode to her bed being especially complex because of her experiences with assault and men. You are along for a very complex journey through all of the transformative phases in each section. The dual themes of self reliance and need for community offer a mental calculus of how much healing and empowerment we can draw from within versus without.

Amazing piece of art. You can feel the emotion the joy the pain the love , she takes a stand for herself and everyone else a young black mother , poet and mother to a DAUGHTER these words are so important and reminds me of my own resilience

Genuine words coming from the heart, the hurt, the struggle, the healing, it definitely gives you a different perspective on things!

Rupi Kaur (born 4 October 1992) is a Canadian poet, illustrator, photographer, and author. Born in Punjab, India, Kaur immigrated to Canada at a young age with her family. She began performing poetry in 2009 and rose to fame on Instagram, eventually becoming a popular poet through her three collections of poetry. In March 2015, as a part of her university photography project, Kaur posted a series of photographs to Instagram depicting herself with menstrual blood stains on her clothing and bedsheets. Instagram removed the image, in response to which Kaur wrote a viral critique of the company's actions. As a result of the incident, Kaur's poetry gained more traction and her initially self-published debut poetry collection, Milk and Honey (2014), was reprinted to widespread commercial success.
