The Russian

The Russian by James Patterson & James O. Born Book Summary

A serial killer crashes Detective Michael Bennett’s wedding.
Weeks before NYPD Detective Michael Bennett is to marry his longtime love, Mary Catherine, an assassin announces his presence in the city with a string of grisly murders. Each victim is a young woman. And each has been killed in a manner as precise as it was gruesome.

Tasked with working alongside the FBI, Bennett and his gung-ho new partner uncover multiple cold-case homicides across the country that fit the same distinctive pattern -- proving the perpetrator they seek is as experienced at ending lives as he is at evading detection.

Bennett promises Mary Catherine that the case won't affect their upcoming wedding. But as Bennett prepares to make a lifetime commitment, the killer has a lethal vow of his own to fulfill.

- Has It All5 star

I love the main character, Michael Bennett - a super detective, a wonderful father and family man, and refreshingly, with a deep religious faith.

- Pending mini-series???3 star

Decent read as Patterson/Mike Bennet series goes, however......Not to spoil for those who havent read it yet, but the aspects of the title of the book only come in at the very end, so either 1) im disappointed because there was no flavor/depth i expected based on the title and it was a conveniently disappointing ending OR 2) its a teaser as to what happens next with the criminal? I sure hope its the latter - id like to see almost a pre-quel of how this criminal came to be and some depth into his mentor’s life, who apparently was a really bad dude in Russia. That would be alot more of the Russian flavor/depth I expected/wanted when i bought this book. Cmon James, make it happen!!!
