From the author of The Lost Girls of Paris comes a riveting tale of courage and unlikely friendship during World War II -- Now a New York Times bestsller!

1942. Sadie Gault is eighteen and living with her parents in the Kraków Ghetto during World War II. When the Nazis liquidate the ghetto, Sadie and her pregnant mother are forced to seek refuge in the perilous tunnels beneath the city. One day Sadie looks up through a grate and sees a girl about her own age buying flowers.

Ella Stepanek is an affluent Polish girl living a life of relative ease with her stepmother, who has developed close alliances with the occupying Germans. While on an errand in the market, she catches a glimpse of something moving beneath a grate in the street. Upon closer inspection, she realizes it’s a girl hiding.

Ella begins to aid Sadie and the two become close, but as the dangers of the war worsen, their lives are set on a collision course that will test them in the face of overwhelming odds. Inspired by incredible true stories, The Woman with the Blue Star is an unforgettable testament to the power of friendship and the extraordinary strength of the human will to survive.

One yumyum

The Woman With the Blue Star. I enjoyed reading this work of historical fiction. With Polish ancestry myself, I felt tied in to the significance this time period brought to so many. Although some of the book was easy to see ahead the train of thought, there were still surprises that kept me reading. I look forward to reading other works by Mrs. Jenoff.

Beautiful story of the remarkable strength of the spirit and heart of humanity

Incredible story. What an incredible vivid courageous story Pam Jenoff crafted. It was interesting, loving, horrifying and intense. A different take on the horrors of the Holocaust. Didn’t realize until reading the author’s notes that this was more than less a fictional tale.

Good storytelling. Not sure how I feel about the ending. Good storytelling.

Beautiful!. A beautifully crafted, gripping story of love and courage and faith that is almost impossible to put down. This is a tale of incredible challenges and heart breaking losses woven together with the threads of heroism, truth and triumph. It reminds the reader that love really is as vast and endless as all the stars in the sky.

Eh. There is too much going on in this book to feel a connection with the characters. At times, it wasn’t clear which character was speaking. Characters thoughts and actions morphed into one. There are other WW2 books that are better reads. Read Quinn or Anika Scott if you like this type of read.

Absolutely amazing!. This was one book I was sad ended. I could not stop reading it! One of my favorite books.
