Sarah J. Maas's sexy, richly imagined series continues with the journey of Feyre's fiery sister, Nesta.
Nesta Archeron has always been prickly-proud, swift to anger, and slow to forgive. And ever since being forced into the Cauldron and becoming High Fae against her will, she's struggled to find a place for herself within the strange, deadly world she inhabits. Worse, she can't seem to move past the horrors of the war with Hybern and all she lost in it.
The one person who ignites her temper more than any other is Cassian, the battle-scarred warrior whose position in Rhysand and Feyre's Night Court keeps him constantly in Nesta's orbit. But her temper isn't the only thing Cassian ignites. The fire between them is undeniable, and only burns hotter as they are forced into close quarters with each other.
Meanwhile, the treacherous human queens who returned to the Continent during the last war have forged a dangerous new alliance, threatening the fragile peace that has settled over the realms. And the key to halting them might very well rely on Cassian and Nesta facing their haunting pasts.
Against the sweeping backdrop of a world seared by war and plagued with uncertainty, Nesta and Cassian battle monsters from within and without as they search for acceptance-and healing-in each other's arms.

Great
I honestly enjoyed Nestaās and Cassianās story and would have totally been happy with just their journey. This book was exceptionally smutty and profane where the previous books had more tactful language and romance, it was reminiscent of Crescent City writing style. The plot line with the queen and Koshei did not really add value to this novel, it honestly felt really clichĆ© and anticlimactic.
I read this because I liked Cassianās character and wanted to see what Maas would do with his and Nestaās story. It was strangely slow in places and there was way more meaningless sex scenes than there needed to be. Took a long time to even get to a point where I was rooting for Nesta to get over herself. Ended up feeling like Maas put too much effort into reshowing us how terrible Nesta could be when we already knew it. And it took way too long to bring her redemption around. Also, in 8 months she went from zero training to being better than Illyrian warriors without any powers? That was a little hard to believe. I liked where the story went, just got there in a weird way and I could have done without the needlessly graphic sex scenes. Thereās a balance she struck in Feyreās books of being sexy without it being too much but she definitely went WAY past that line here.
I loved the other books in this series but this one was so different. I only kept reading it to find out what happened to the other characters. Nesta is so angry and mean. I found it hard to like her at all and the romance between her and Cassian was crude. This book was written differently than the first ones and just wasnāt my cup of tea.
I absolutely loved this book. It had the romance, the drama, the character development, and the personality that you hope to find in a good fantasy based story. Worth the read and/or listen!
This was great. I ate it up! Non stop action and what a romance. I love these characters and canāt wait to see what this author has in store for them (and us) next!
I have loved this series more than I wouldāve ever believed possible. These books have become so important to me. If I could change anything it would be that I could read stories of this world and these characters all the time. When I started this one Nesta drove me crazy. I thought well this might be my least favorite. I couldnāt have been more wrong and shouldnāt have been surprised. Thank you for writing another amazing story about the greatest characters Iāve ever known!
Loved it. Love all Sarahās books.
This series started as appropriate for late teens early college age people. As the audience has aged so has the tone of the writing and not always for the better. I found the repetition of the F word unnecessary and disappointing. Also the sex scenes were very adult and unnecessarily graphic. The reason I love young adult books is that this type of graphic writing is not usual. The main story is good but did not need 700 pages to get there. Liked the early books better.
Sarah never disappoints.
This book tapped into some really deep raw feelings that i think many can relate to. Nestaās journey is our journey. Thanks Sarah for writing such an honest book. It will go down in my history as one of my all time best books ever.
the author apparently cannot seem to go more than two paragraphs without throwing the f-bomb into another rather misrepresented thought on the part of the main characters. as a fan of these books, i am rather disappointed that such degradation of speech would be added just to come across as more edgy. if one is devoted to the characters already, and knows their nature, one would think such profanity would not be necessary. it rather comes off as lazy on the authorās part. ms. maas, you are a forger of stories, and i still love this book, but please endeavor to assume your readers know well enough to understand the characters feelings without the continual use of profanity.
Iāve read others reviews on how this story is so similar to Feyre and Rhysā but it isnāt. Theyāre are small ones, because in the beginning Feyre didnāt want to be a Fae either, but Nestaās story is MORE. We learn more on the acolytes and priestesses, and we get a read inside of Nestaās head. We finally get to understand why she was so horrid to her youngest sister. We learn sooo much on how Nesta, BECAME Nesta! Maybe itās because I read all the previous books most recently thanks to a dear friend of mine - Iām talking about you Morgan! - that Iām seeing these differences so clearly. I have two sisters of my own and I know first hand how cruel oldest sisters can be, but we love them anyways. And this really puts their relationship in the story, and not just small glimpses! Did I read all 80 chapters in a matter of two and a half days? Yes - donāt judge. The sex was there and it was wonderful to read, but we get to see more of their emotions (Nesta and Cassianās) and how their relationship actually is born, not just because of the mate bond, but because they grew to love each other even if Nesta didnāt realize at first. Itās a beautiful story and I cannot wait for the next in the series, if there is one!
I canāt tell if this is truly my favorite book of the series as I have loved these books sooo much! What a great read from beginning to end !!!
By and far the best book of the series. Loved it from start to finish. I am still in aww after having read it so recently.
I have never read a book that spoke to my heart in so many ways. This entire series has brought me on a psychological journey that has utterly changed my perspective on many things. On myself. Nestaās has been the one I most relate to. Sarah, I believe, achieved success in taking us all on this adventure. You will feel every facet of emotion, sometimes the same as the characters and other times that will find you at odds with them. Sarah J. Mass is a master at weaving plot and character development in ways we rarely see. This is a series that will continue to grow in the hearts and minds of readers, not just for entertainment, but to look and say this... this is humanity in its rawest form. The veil of fantasy is only as thick as your imagination is thin. Embrace this splendor, and tell all your friends that this series should be next on their must read list. Read well darlings xoxo
I wish there were more coming from this series. I havenāt been able to stop reading since the release on feb 16.
I absolutely love Sarah J Mass and her books! I couldnāt set this one down, it was absolutely perfect and amazing and I cannot wait for more!
Wow. I didnāt think it was possible, but sjm proves me wrong every time. I honestly think this is my all time favorite book of hers. I never understood nesta before and I honestly hated her character, but I adore her now. I felt so connected to her character. SJM did such a great job describing depression and the time and effort it takes to better yourself. The lessons she added throughout the book are just wonderful. I think anyone struggling needs to read this. Also... Cassian is.. *chefs kiss*
Sarah J. Maas did it again. This book was definitely worth the wait. Might be my favorite book of hers from now on.
Love everything about this book, beautifully written. Read this book in a day, I just couldnāt put it down. Really canāt wait for the next oneā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļø
As with all her books, I plowed through this book way too quickly. And am now impatiently waiting for the next.
SPECTACULAR
It was perfect, and well worth the wait!
This book has everything I already love about Prythian, and was able to add even more as well. I hope to see so many more stories from this world!
I didnāt think it possible, but it might be my favorite book in the series. Itās so relatable, heartbreaking, and lovely. Itās why I continue to consume and reread anything by Sarah J Maas over and over again! Now I want a Azriel and Lucien book after the masterpiece of this one.
The masterful way Maas writes pulls you in and doesnāt let you leave. She creates a vibrant world full of complex characters that are thrilling from start to finish. Iām looking forward to the next book in the series.
Remarkable, beautiful, heart wrenching and one of the best books Maas has written thus far, a worthy installment. And just the right amount of sex š.
Wow!! SJM did it again... Nestaās redemption arc is hands down the best I have ever read!!
Spoilers ahead!!! Corny. Especially towards the end, had me rolling my eyes a lot. Everything wrapped up too perfectly, and her personality changes completely in a way that just wasnāt realistic, it just wasnāt as good as the other books. Also.. they trained for like 4 months and all of a sudden are as good as illyrians who have been training their ENTIRE LIVES for battle.. yeah ok.
This book was awesome I have always loved Sarahās books but this one was the best
I did not expect to enjoy this book as much as I did. I have always wondered whether Nesta could ever hold a piece of my heart, but she does! If youāre on the edge about continuing this series, DO IT. Itās good for your soul.
I used to hate Nesta to be completely honest with all you readers like me, but this book has made me realize that Nesta had her own struggles that she was falling apart, that she didnāt know how to heal. Many of us have fallen apart and felt like you didnāt deserve to heal. This is such a amazing book, I am at a loss of words. I felt so many emotions that i didnāt know I could feel, no matter how much you may dislike Nesta her story is a powerful one, one you want to read.
absolutely amazing
Thatās the only thing I can say, other than I need more! Loved this book.
This is honestly my favorite book of hers yet!! The plot is terrific, just everything is amazing!
I loved the scenes between Nesta and Cassian and I also loved the fact that Nesta repaired her relationship with Feyre, after 3 or 4 books.
thatās it. thatās all i have to say
Sarahās writing just blows me away with each book! I devoured this book and then was sad it was finished.
Just read it.
I canāt wait for more. (You know sheās not done)
Spurting and milking in a smut scene describes this book all you need.
Wow. This book was another great one by Ms. Maas. I loved the way she told the story of Nesta and Cassian. I am so ready for the shadowsingers book!
I have read enough books that most of the time they start to blend together. This book and series will never be that. It is amazing. Seeing Nesta and Cassian grow together was wonderful. I loved that Rhysand and Feyre and the rest of the family was constantly present. Very satisfying ending.
Such an amazing story! I wasnāt sure how SJM was going to continue the series after Hybern was defeated, but this was amazing. Nestaās healing journey was perfect, even if I wanted to scream at her more than a few times, but I knew I would going in. A true transformation, I loved it!
Tears, smiles and a total lack of sleep. Couldnāt put it down from the moment I got it.
Everything I wanted it to be, and more. ā¤ļø
I havenāt finished the book yet so I donāt think itās fair to give it fewer stars but I must say that Iām bored out of mind with Nesta. Iām skipping thruthe pages hopiyto move on to another subject. I donāt even want her to change.
Amazing book so far. Very smutty but not that surprised

This has me wishing for another book in the series ready to read ( instead of crescent city 2) I love Cas more than the next person but the little snippets of Az and Nestaās friendship spoke more loudly than some parts of the Cas/Nes relationship and a better yet incomplete look in to Eris (would die for a book on him). I loved how Nes evolved as a person and finally accepted who she is and what she wants in her heart and the 10,000 step show her progress of growth and I loved that hidden meaning behind them. Overall an amazing book. Never get tired of reading this series over and over for comfort.
while the story was good, i felt like i was just reading acomaf all over again but with different characters. i also feel like cassian was dumbed out? heās 500+ years old and still canāt act neutral around powerful people? heās different from who he was in the trilogy. i love nestaās journey and her struggles but i feel like the old queen plot was useless, this could have been split in two books, one focusing on nessian and another on the queen thing. idk it just feels like a lot of stuff was added for nothing
Every time I read this series (and it has been many times) I feel what each character feels. My heart breaks and soars with them. I lie in my bed and cry for them. Each of their struggles feels as though it has been written by someone who knows exactly what it feels like to break and to get back up again
