The Mountain Is You

The Mountain Is You by Brianna Wiest Book Summary

This book is about self-sabotage.
Why we do it, when we do it, and how to stop doing it—for good.

Coexisting but conflicting needs create self-sabotaging behaviors. This is why we resist efforts to change, often until they feel completely futile. But by extracting crucial insight from our most damaging habits, building emotional intelligence by better understanding our brains and bodies, releasing past experiences at a cellular level, and learning to act as our highest potential future selves, we can step out of our own way and into our potential.

For centuries, the mountain has been used as a metaphor for the big challenges we face, especially ones that seem impossible to overcome. To scale our mountains, we actually have to do the deep internal work of excavating trauma, building resilience, and adjusting how we show up for the climb.
In the end, it is not the mountain we master, but ourselves.

Amazing read all the way around. 108 pages long. Finished in several days. Would even read twice. Very encouraging, informational, and helpful with great insight.

Great book, personally helped me a lot in my own journey.

This book has some amazing insights. It has helped me to realize where my fear and anxiety comes from and gives tips on how to overcome it. Definitely recommend, it’s worth the read!

very good for healing

Whether you think you need inspiration or not, any person any where, with any past good or bad, should read this

I found this book at a really rough time in my life and I felt like all the words were helping me at my current situation. It can sometimes seem repetitive but overall, really good book for self reflection

Best book I’ve read in so long. Recommended to everyone I know!

So far 10/10

I loved everything about this book. I’m at this point where I’m ready to take accountability, stop repeating cycles and stop self sabotaging. So this book is the guidance I needed to help with my journey. I feel like was able to really tap in, heal more and gain inner power and peace.

Amazing book!! Highly recommend

This is one that I definitely will come back to again. much like was advised of Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill read it through once absorb all of its information and then read it again!!!!!

This book offers one of the most beautifully and intuitively presented responses to the question “What is the purpose of life?” that I have had the pleasure of reading.

So fye bwo

Incredible book

Changed my life. Please read.

Amazing book

This book is full of knowledge and practical tips on application. Best self help book I have ever read.

Life Changing Book‼️

This book is pure genius for anyone who is struggling with anxiety, intrusive thoughts, and feeling stuck in their life situation. I found tremendous comfort in the words of Brianna Weist and I look forward to reading her next book, Pivot.

I am not typically a fan of self help books, but I found this one refreshing and appreciated many of the insights Wiest lays out. Left the book feeling inspired and empowered. I did notice however there was a lack of depth surrounding how different backgrounds and abilities may experience life’s difficulties. I as a biracial middle class woman was able to identify with a lot of what Wiest mentions however I was left wondering how other identities may feel as they read this.

I genuinely mean it when I say read this book. With an open mind & heart it has brought me so much insight on myself & compassion for others. LOVE IT!!

This was an amazing read!

Gave so much perspective to the mental part of life. Best book I’ve read in a long time!

Only read chapter 1 and my life has already been hit by a pile of bricks— for the better. Excited to keep climbing!

I’m going through a break up, one that I caused with my mental health. Unfortunately, I deal with trauma. I live in constant fight or flight in relationships. I’m currently doing DBT and this book reminds me of so much of it. I highly suggest this book, it was eye opening. It made me cry in the end, but it also gave me hope and drive to continue to do the inner work.

This was such a great book….so many good lessons….the biggest one is do it now!

Avery well thought out book. It digs internally into you and breaks you into pieces. I recommend this 100%.

Wow! After reading this book, I actually feel like I can move mountains! This read is fantastic and straight to the point. Extremely beneficial for any reader wanting to step out of their comfort zone.

Thiis book truly gave me insight on myself, my actions & my mind-set. Quite honestly can say that thiis book changed my liife for the better and I am excited to explore liife with thiis new found knowledge & perspective! :)

This book helped me see things I thought were so out of my control. It’s eye opening and a deep dive in your emotions. Expect to release a lot of unresolved, buried feelings. But mostly importantly, be open to being wrong and question every bad thing you ever thought. Reality is not really what our brain tells us.

Lots of insightful nuggets. Great read.

This is the best way I was able to take this information and actually process it. The explanations are great and someone who struggles with severe anxiety this felt like a small relief knowing there is hope and in the way is myself. Great book!

I am an avid reader of self-help books and this one touched on several of them. From self-sabotage to inner-children. Was a great read and the sections help break things up.

This is a really good book we’ll written and informative

Brianna, thank you so much. This book is transformative. I am forever committed to. The work of conquer and appreciating my mountains because of the truth filled in this book. The book aligns with everything my therapist and I have been working through recently. I am so blown away. Amazing work. I would love to meet you one day ❤️

I blew through this book and heavily highlighted it! So many great points and wisdom on each page. A must read after enduring the rough effects of the pandemic.

Life changing. I bought this as a ebook and also bought the actual book. She was speaking directly to me. If you’re hesitating don’t. It’s what you need to hear.

really helped me a lot.

Highlighted almost every page! It was that great.

Amazing book must read so so good! really changed my mindset/ perspective of life (:

Straight forward. No fluff. Thought-provoking. Life changing. This book is the real deal on self reflection.

I loved everything about the book. Really touched me to the core about everything I can’t express to others and made me more aware of myself and my own thoughts. I would recommend it to anyone for any point in their lives.

A reminder that remembering to allow what is and not hang onto it or force it to be something other than what it is will allow and spurn you to grow and find greater peace. Beautiful poignant and meaningful for our time.

This was an incredible read for me. It provoked so many thoughts within myself and conversations with those around me about how we, as people, think and self sabotage. I HIGHLY recommend you buy this and then buy copies for friends and family. It’s my new favorite book and I’ll be reading this a few more times!

Beautiful book so much that I shared parts of it with my loved one and they were always asking “what book are you reading????” Very relatable and understanding

I love a vast majority of the points in this read by the meditation and vibrational preferences didn’t really sit well with me considering other beliefs. May be a good read if you believe in this things entirely!

The only reason I’m not giving this five stars is the editing. I literally cannot believe any editor let an author use literally so many times. Other than that, this book helped me recognize some of my self-sabotaging behaviors. I also like that Wiest provides solutions to problems. Many books provide ample reasons of why we do thing without providing the how to fix them. I look forward to reading more of her books while plowing through this phase of my life.

It really helped shaped the way I am thinking today. It helped me realize I was my biggest enemy and I’m working every day to overcome that to be my own hero.

Nothing new to learn from this book

I am in a dark place in my life! I wasn’t looking for the light. Recent car accident shock me up so bad. I keep digging to Bury myself too low. Drained in Depression and anxiety. ….. I feel I don’t have the right to die or feel the victim all the time. At least I should try and have a valid reason why my life wasn’t working. So I purchased this book and I don’t remember the last time I red a book. I loved how I kept reading I loved I understood what’s being said I loved the fact that I don’t need to move the mountain just my 10 min routine everyday will compound to bring huge change I want to see in my life. I loved reading this book and inspire me to get up and do that small thing in my life that I have been neglected. So help me God, Amen. Thank you

This book is awful. The author is overstating the importance of their message. Couldn’t there have been some humour and personal stories added to lighten the mood and make it more palatable? The moral advice is without proper reasoning behind it, or research. It is unbearably preachy, and utterly tedious. Refund please?

Just what I needed

So insightful and makes you really question how you respond to life’s little and large problems. Well worth a read for those needing a bit of help along the way!

Loved this book so much. It was just what I needed. Every sentence was like a good piece of advise from a trusted friend.

Easy to digest, concise and informative

Insightful and helpful if you are going through a hard time

Elite life guidance.

Brianna is far more evolved than I was at 30, and I look forward to what she does next. However, her examples in this book tend to be overly simplistic and shallow. She does not back up her findings with studies to show why they are valid, and the reader is supposed to just take her findings as fact. I’ve liked her other work, but found this offering lacking. I think if you are under 30 you’ll find this book as useful information. If you’re over 30, you’ll be left thinking “You need to have more life experience because I guarantee you, you’ll feel differently about this in 5 years.”

You don’t need me to tell you to read it, just read it. With a open heart and mind, receive it. Stay Blessed!

Reading this book has opened my eyes to so many of the things inside of myself that I was unaware of. Irresponsibilities, codependencies, habits and patterns that I am capable of changing and growing from. Realizing that I’ve been blaming everyone instead of myself for my lot in life and the path that I’m on has given me freedom unspeakable. I’m in charge of my life. And the difficult years I’ve gone through were simply trying to tell me something was wrong. I’m so grateful to this book and to my therapists and all the other research I’ve done in order to become more self aware. Without it I don’t think I would understand so clearly the power I have to make and create change in the world. Read this book and you won’t be able to avoid a life changing experience of your own. Guaranteed.

The best book I have ever read it taught me to much !!! This is a must read !!

Amazing book. Every single page resonated with me. So many eye openers and valuable perspectives in this book.

Such a great book for self improvement. Short and to the point and a book I think everyone needs to read!

I don’t really know what I was expecting when I purchased this book, but I certainly wasn’t expecting it to be the game-changer that it is. Full of so many fresh, spot on insights, it’s going to take weeks to unpack and apply everything in here. To say this is a life-changing, transformative book is actually and understatement. Highly, highly recommend. I’m a personal development junkie and this is one of the hands-down best personal development books I have ever read!!!

What an amazing read! This book felt like taking an X-ray of my own persona and starting to see all the complications, ailments and blockages I had created for myself. Perspective is everything.

For those in a creative enterprise who struggle with finding the will to carry through their self doubts and anxieties, this book offers some great insights into internal issues that may be holding you back or stifling your growth. I wish you the best on your journey.
