Reckless Memories

Reckless Memories by Catherine Cowles Book Summary

I loved him before I knew what the word meant.
From skinned knees to first dates and everything in between.
But he was never mine to love.
I settled for friendship, even though I always wanted more.

That was before.
Before he ripped my world apart and didn’t bother sticking around to help me pick up the pieces.
I knit every last shred back together all on my own.
And I’ve all but forgotten his name.

Now, he’s back, and everything is torn apart once more.
But he’s not the only one doing the tearing this time.
And there might be no stopping the person who has it out for us both.

All the feels, emotions, ups and downs. I love this author and every book I think is her best work, until I read the next one. Her character’s all make me want to be their friend. I rarely rate a book 5 stars, but would give this one more stars if I could.

- Fabulous Story & Narration🎧 Captivating & Heartfelt!5 star

Reckless Memories The Wrecked Series, Book 1 By: Catherine Cowles Narrated by: Andi Arndt, Joe Arden I loved everything about this book, from Catherine Cowles’ wonderful writing style to the fabulous story and characters she created to the perfectly casted and performed narration. This is my first Catherine Cowles book and it definitely will not be my last. The storylines she created are interesting and original, they captured my attention right from the start and held it straight to the end. The characters are complex and well developed, they are realistic, likable and easy to relate to. I adored the two leads Isabelle aka Bell and Ford, Ford dated her older sister, Violet and even though she was a few years younger than him they shared a great bond, she felt he was the only one who really understood her. Violet did not really get Isabelle but she accepted her the way she was, she wishes her parents did too but her parents only wanted her to be more like Violet, whom they had placed on a pedestal. Tragedy tears the three apart and life was not the same. Years later Ford is a successful owner of several bars in L.A. he hasn’t had the heart to return home since the tragedy. But when his brother, Hunter, calls to tell him he needs to come home to help with “The Catch” the family’s bar he agrees to go. He did not know “Bell” worked there and she did not know he was coming home. Their first meeting did not go so well, there is a lot of angst between them and they need to work it out. I love how everything plays out in this book, the small town vibe, the great camaraderie amongst friends, how Bell deals with her bitter mother and most of all Ford and Bell opening up to each other, she has issues trusting him to not leave does not come easy, also there is someone out to get her and/or Hunter. The story is beautifully plotted and there is never a dull moment with plenty of drama, angst, a twist leading to some thrilling and suspenseful moments, some great heartfelt moments and wonderful romance. Thank you Catherine Cowles for this beautiful story and emotional rollercoaster ride. Andie Arndt and Joe Arden are awesome, they are talented narrators and voice artists. They do an amazing job portraying the characters, bringing them to life giving each their own voice and personality. You could hear how much heart they put into their work as they capture and project the characters emotions into their performance. They are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another fabulous listen🎧

- Sweet, Swoony and oh so Angsty!!5 star

Reckless Memories is a sweet, super emotional, super angsty story. It is a tale full of hope for second chances and redemption. Bell lost her sister and her best friend on the same day. She remained in her hometown and is now years later getting her life on track when Ford suddenly shows up. Ford still needs to deal with and bury ghosts of the past that he shares with Isabelle, but will he be too late to protect Bell when past meets present? I listened to this story on audiobook and the narration was great. I couldn’t shut it off and listened all in one day! -4.5 Stars!-

- Great!4 star

I love the story!!! I wish the author can make more stories like this!!

- All the feels! Loved it!5 star

Reckless Memories by Catherine Cowles was a second chance at love romance with all the feels and intrigue. It was an emotional story that captivated me from start to finish. There is friendship and feelings that are forever changed when tragedy strikes. Afterwards, Ford left and Bell stayed. It was just too much for Ford and Bell tried to move on. I loved Bell. She was strong and caring. Ford struggled with the past and guilt. He stayed away, until his family needed him. What follows is a story of forgiveness, love and moving forward. Their journey was not easy, but you can’t help but cheer for them. But who wanted to hurt them? Such a great read and an author I will definitely be reading more off! Happy reading!

- WHAT A STORY!5 star

WHAT A STORY! The book I didn’t know I wanted, but needed from Catherine. After her previous series that I fell in love with, I wasn’t sure what to expect from this new one, but I quickly realized how far my expectations were surpassed. Isabelle has always been at odds with her parents (her mother in particular), and her safe haven was with her sister’s boyfriend Ford. They had a connection and bond that was unlike any other. After tragedy struck for both Ford and Isabelle, Ford retreats at the advice of Isabelle’s parents and starts his life over states away. But ten years later, he is needed at home and reluctantly agrees. Isabelle has forged her own life after the accident and lives in her own terms. When she finds out that Ford has returned home, she’s upset but not for the reason he thinks. As they continue to interact, the truth finally comes out in the open and they not only get back to their friendship, but realize there’s something more. All the while, we find out someone is terrorizing Isabelle with the memory of her sister, and as the relationship with Ford escalates, so does the person terrorizing her. I absolutely love a suspenseful romance book, and this one is at the top of the list for me. I didn’t see it coming who was behind the terrorizing and kidnapping of Isabelle, and I was floored when I found out! I absolutely loved and adored this book and I can’t wait to see what comes next from this series! I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

- Love conquers all......5 star

This first book in Catherine Cowles new series made me laugh, cry and wish for more. So many mistakes, so many wrong decisions, but in the end family is first. Not necessarily blood family, but family’s of the heart. Isabelle, her sister, Violet and Ford Hardy were pretty close to inseparable. Violet and Ford were seriously dating and getting ready to go off to college. Isabelle loved Ford, but knew it would go nowhere. Then tragedy changed everything. It had been eleven years, Ford was owner of several very successful clubs in the L.A. area, and has never returned back to Anchor Island. Isabelle, now Bell works in the Hardy’s bar and grill The Catch. She has a circle of very special friends, and living a life she hadn’t expected, but is happy enough. She’s very close to Ford’s family, especially Hunter, his younger brother. She can never forget what happened, but realizes life goes on. That is, until Ford shows up at the bar, to help out while his dad is recovering from a stroke. He’d left her when she needed him the most, never a call or visit. She didn’t think she could ever forgive him for that. But, fate had other plans, again. Small town, romance and just enough suspense to make this book very difficult to put down......can’t wait for the next. Pat Fordyce

- SO MANY FEELS!5 star

While reading Reckless Memories, I experienced this overflowing rush of emotion and a flutter of feelings I wasn’t expecting. The prologue alone took a firm grip on my heart—the glimpse of a special friendship, a hint of forbidden feelings, and then the crushing moment lives were turned upside down. I was whole-heartedly invested and found myself reading a passage or a page, any chance I had. I’m not going to dive into a bunch of detail because this book was such a welcome surprise, and I hope others have the same experience I did. But just know, Bell Kipton and Ford Hardy’s story was both beautifully devastating and heartwarming. The connection and love between these two was a quiet build until it was a force that couldn’t be ignored, and the touch of suspense woven into their story was addicting. I loved everything about this book and can’t wait to see what else comes from this series! Reckless Memories is definitely one of my favorite books of the year so far!

- Everything that I didn’t know that I needed5 star

Reckless Memories by Author Catherine Cowles is book one in the Wrecked Series. It is romantic suspense and can be read as a stand-alone. Isabelle (Bell) is a young girl when we meet her. She lives in a house of high expectations and feels that she follows in the shadows of perfection. This well crafted story begins with her having a crush on and loving her older, off limits best friend. He is one of the only people in life that gets her and understands her perfectly. When tragedy strikes your life and shreds it beyond recognition you have to mend it back together. Bell carefully and methodically stitches her life back together. She does it stitch by stitch and seam by seam creating a new landscape to her life. What happens when one of the reasons you had to recreate yourself returns and stretches the seams, pulls on the stitches to your heart and makes you question your sanity? Ford is that best friend. He is the one that left, never to be seen again until all these years later. After he left, when tragedy struck, and stole so much, Bell was hurt and alone. Now she is just angry at him. When he returns she is spitting mad and doesn’t shy away from showing it! Bell and Ford are constantly drawn together and fighting to ignore the magnetic pull that they have to each other. Through it all they experience and wade through longing, grief, redemption and forgiveness. They work their way through tension, what if’s and what nows. While they are doing this a person in the background is working to draw them apart, to sever the ties that bind and punish them both. The murderous intentions are around every corner, curve and never ending. Author Cowles delivered a captivating story with Reckless Memories that is everything that I didn’t know that I needed. With the scary time we are living in and social distancing in place I have been very sad. This book took me on a journey and vacation to a magical place in an uncertain time. It was the exact escape that I needed. It filled my heart and nurtured my soul. Bravo and thank you.

- Catherine Cowles’ very best!5 star

Catherine Cowles at her best! Reckless Memories is a beautiful roller coaster of a ride that will take you through all the feels. I was wrecked and put back together in this story that had me holding my breath and cheering Ford and Bell toward their happy ending. I’ve been waiting for Ford’s story since he appeared Further to Fall and Catherine delivered more than I dreamt possible. Thank you, Catherine, for bringing Ford to life and telling his amazing love story.

- I love this book!5 star

There really aren’t words to describe this book and Ms. Cowles’s words. Each book I read I love more and more and this book is no different. I have to admit I was sad to leave Sutter Lake but man, now I want to move to Anchor Island and I’m ok being in a new place with new characters. And boy these characters. Bell and Ford, yes Ford. I remember him from the beginning and I love that we got his story! Anyways, their life. From the very beginning of this book I was hooked and my heart was pretty much bleeding. But what Ms. Cowles’ does best is putting your heart back together when reading. And she did that and then some. I adore the crap out of these two and their friends. And I can’t wait for more. Maybe they’ll be a little easier on the heart. But then again, a book where I can cry and laugh at the same time is one I’ll never regret reading. It means it’s one of the good ones. One that can get multiple emotions from me is one I will never forget. Ford and Bell are stuck in my heart and I will love them and this book always! And I really want to take a trip to Anchor Island!!!

- An amazing read!5 star

Reckless Memories the first book in the Wrecked Series. An amazing story of love, grief, guilt, pain, fear and forgiveness between the main characters Ford and Bell taking place in the wonderful Anchor Island where gossip is common but relationships have a deeper connection. This book shows the past that separated Bell and Ford and the present that is trying to bring them together and adding some suspense as the story evolves. An amazing second chance romance with hints of suspense that will keep you on your toes. I loved Bell and Ford and all the characters around them, I loved Anchor Island and can’t wait to go back! Thanks Catherine for such an amazing masterpiece!

- A connection that will last a lifetime5 star

This book hit me in so many ways. The connection between these two is beyond magical, and not in a fairytale sort of way, just in the way that you can feel their connection and feel the invisible bonds that tie them together. Ford and Isabelle have had a connection through so many years and I adored seeing how it was defined in the beginning. The words in this book pull you in and you can't help but become immersed in this story of loss and love. How this story unfolds, how the all the characters are intricately wound within in each other keeps you engaged and makes you feel like you are there, right there, with them. This story is so hard to do a review on because it is so good, it took my breath away and I am still trying to find my words. One other portion that I love regarding the setting of this book is it is set around the islands that I currently live on. How Catherine Cowles describes everything is so vivid and accurate, it only added on to how involved I felt with this book. This is her absolute best writing to date. (less)

- A Must Read5 star

Catherine hit this one out of the park! I will admit I had my doubts about Ford. But those doubts have all been cleared now. Thankfully! I hate when you don’t fall in love with the leading man. In case I’m not being obvious enough, I fell in love with him! Ford and Bell have been friends forever. Maybe Bell had a crush on him when she was 16 and he was 18. Too bad he was her sister’s boyfriend. Too bad they were in a car crash that killed her sister. Too bad Ford left town. It’s been 11 years and now he’s forced to come back. Painful memories for him. Being here. Painful memories seeing him for her. How’s that going to work??? You need to read this one to find out! I loved this one very much and I feel you will love it as well. These characters were very lovable. Great supporting characters who will each (hopefully) be getting there own stories told.

- A must read!5 star

Reckless Memories is the first book in the Wrecked series by Catherine Cowles and it’s her best book to date. I’ve been a fan of Ms. Cowles for a long time and love all her book but this one was beyond great. It’s not an easy love story. A story about friendship, heartbreak, lies, trust and letting go of the past. Isabelle (Belle) and Ford’s story started when they were very young. They were always together and best friend. They understood each other. But Ford was Isabelle’s sister’s boyfriend. Until something tragically happened and Isabelle lost two of the persons she loved the most in this world. Belle and Ford’s chemistry was adorable when they were young and hot later when all grown up. Love the storyline, the suspense and the secondary characters that I know there will be in the next upcoming books that I cannot wait to read. I really hope hunter and the Sheriff will get their books too. My Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ STARS!

Menotah (CGBB) - Reckless Memories5 star

Reckless Memories is a friends to enemies to lovers story and the beginning of the Wrecked series. Ford and Isabelle have known each other forever and Isabelle has loved him since she can remember but when their world is ripped out from under them, Ford disappears without a word. Ten years later, Bell has healed from the pain of the accident and has moved on with her life, that is until Ford walks back into The Catch and the pain of her past comes slamming back. After talking and clearing the air between them, someone else feels that they still need to pay. WOW!!!! This was a great introduction to Catherine Cowles and will not be my last book by her. The emotions and suspense of this book had me unable to put the book down. The pain and then eventual healing that Ford and Bell endured with each other was so complete. I loved the strong connection between Ford and Bell right from the beginning and was happy that their past did not stop their future. There were a few shocking twists in the book that I did not see coming. I can not wait for more from the crew on Anchor Island. Another amazing job by narrators Joe Arden and Andi Arndt. These two are the first pair I ever listened to and they are still my top narrators. "I would rather sit on a hill of fire ants in my underwear while eating ghost peppers." - Bell, Reckless Memories by Catherine Cowles

Cattreads - Catherine has done it again!5 star

Another heart wrenching book, another happy reader. Ford had me quite intrigued when we were first introduced to him in Further to Fall. We got to see his playful side, but there was a tortured soul beneath his playful exterior and I really enjoyed delving into Reckless Memories. This story is filled with grief and sorrow but most of all its filled with love. Ford and Bells love story is a unique one with many twists and turns. But what melted my heart most of all is the love between two sisters. Despite the loss and turmoil surrounding the accident Bell finds the most beautiful ways to remember and celebrate her sisters life. If you don't have this on your TBR list, you don't know what your missing! Thank your Catherine, for sharing your writing with us!

Another great suspense filled romance from Catherine Cowles! A little bit second chance mixed with forbidden love, this one will keep you guessing. Very excited for more of this series!

hfgj hk - An amazing second chance romance!5 star

This is the first book in a new series by Catherine and it has everything I’ve come to love about her writing, an amazing love story with emotion and a dash of suspense/mystery thrown in. I have been intrigued about Ford since he was introduced in Further to Fall and I loved reading his story. There was so much that both Ford and Bell needed to overcome in their lives but it just made them getting their happily ever after that much sweeter. I cannot wait for more from this series.

Zb73 - Gahhh I just love Catherine’s books.5 star

Gahhh I just love Catherine’s books. I’ve been wanting Ford’s book since we met him in Further to Fall, we always knew there was a story, and Catherine did not disappoint. This one started with a bang, before you could take a breath we were off running. Bell and Ford both devastated by the events which unfold. This one pulls on the heart strings. Plenty of twists and turns along the way. Loved all the new characters, can’t wait for what’s still to come.

Scampi pantsuit - Fantastic New Series❤️5 star

Oh my goodness the last 20% my heart was thundering in my chest!!!! Ms Cowles has done it again... a new group of friends that I am already invested in. This story is beautifully woven around one tragic event and shows how life has to go on, but also how one event can affect so much. Ford and Bell had a wonderful friendship growing up and when he comes home after 11 years they slowly manage to rekindle that closeness.... but as they get to know the adult versions of each other, deeper feelings start to blossom. I loved everyone in this story, the pain and heartbreak was so well written. Great dialogue, subtle humour, true friendships, family and above all hope and forgiveness. Ms Cowles shows so much wisdom in her writing that her books are always a joy to read....I can’t wait for our next visit to Anchor... I already love Crosby and Kenna and I’m sure sparks are gonna fly😉😂

I have been a fan of Catherine's writing from day one, her way with words is enchanting but also exciting. Reckless Memories is the start of an exciting new series, it is an emotional journey from childhood to adulthood. The tears flowed but it was so beautifully written that it was also heartwarming. Tragedy strikes from an early age for both Bell and Ford and it takes their life's in different directions for 10 years until they meet again. Can Bell forgive and can Ford earn her trust? Can truths be unearthed and learned? This book has some wonderful secondary characters that you will fall in love with. Reckless Memories embraces you with first loves, second chances, suspense, trust and emotions that tug on the heartstrings. This book is everything 5 Stars and More.
