It’s amazing and it only gets better.

Loved this book. Loved the descriptions of the lands and everything. Felt as if I was there.

Writing becomes scattered and imagery is lacking but a good story

The beginning of this book was so promising but ultimately I just felt let down in the end, the main character could not find her way out of a paper bag of someone told her how to do it, she wouldn’t even be smart enough to listen to them telling her not to go into the paper bag in the first place. She could be such an interesting character, but she is now in a constant “my human shortcomings” mindset for absolutely no reason. There’s no stakes because the big strong faeries always come to rescue her. It’s boring and I hope Rhysand can make the second book even a little worth it.

This was such an enticing and beautifully thought out story. Such a good imagination to think up the whole story, and put it perfectly into words. One of my favorite books for sure!!! Excited and nervous to read more about Feyre’s next journey.

I couldn’t put this book down!! I can’t wait to get the next one!!

Speechless.

This book got me hooked…and I just finished the series…in 4 days (no shame) LOTS OF TURNS AND Twists but worth it in the end!!!

I can’t describe the breathlessness I encountered as I turned these pages… Should one ever desire to truly escape this world for a time and get lost in a fantasy, this is the place to go.

I love this series, and Sarah J. Maas is an absolute GENIUS. If you enjoy this you must read her other series. ✨

Its not bad but nothing new nor interesting. Feels like any other book with no memorable characters nor moments.

Easy read, but many plot holes

This series is so enchanting.. it had me glued to my book for hours!! I’m obsessed!

It was a good book and all but this book has been so hyped I finally caved and spent too much on it. Too short for all the details … hinted at a lot without going deep enough into to make a dif. Two half flame scenes at best. Way over priced.

This book had me hooked from the beginning. It was so good, I loved it.

This story has you constantly imagining the possibility of a better life for them. The true meaning of love and sacrifice and what magical creatures are conjured up next.

The world is wonderful and only gets better throughout the series. But the protagonist is the weakest character of them all. Everything about this series is good, but if you like strong female leads, this isn’t it.

Almost too intense.

Honestly I had to reread the whole series after I finished it because it’s that good. This first book set the rest of the series up perfectly. She interpreted Feyres emotions so well and really made you feel like you were in her shoes. Highly highly recommend to get out of a book slump or a good series to get lost in

I just chose this book off of my old bookshelf, and I read the whole thing in 2 weeks! It’s a amazing love story, and even a little spicy.

I hope stephenie meyers got a royalty check. Still enjoyed it.

I couldn’t put this book down I wanted to finish in one day if I could ! Absolutely loved the adventure, thrill, and romance!

this book and the books that come after it really helped me through a slight book slump. after reading the blood and ash series by Jennifer L. Armentrout, and not having anything else that i wanted to read, Sarah J. Maas' books came through and i absolutely love each and every one of her characters.

The character development went a little slow in the beginning but after the plot thickens you really cannot put this book down. After I hit chapter 10 I started binging hard

Easily in my top 5 for best series. Can’t wait for the TV show!

The first half of the book is incredibly slow and the writer puts little to no effort in coming up with new ways to describe the same thing twice. I got annoyed and found myself instantly filling in the same words with 3-5 different ways it could have been reiterated to keep things fresh. Second half did pick up, but I was far from impressed with the whole story. I usually enjoy fantasy books. Not sure if I’ll have the patience to continue the series.

Very easy to follow and get locked in.

Could not stop reading! Love this story and the characters ❤️‍🔥

Loved the book finished in one day so good thing I bought the box set! Thank you booktok for the recommendation

A really good story for of magic, adventure, romance, and thrilling! Kept me wanting more! I have read this and the 2nd one. Mist and Fury. I’m about to start the Wings and Ruin. Love this series!

I cant express how much you need to read this. It’s an amazing book.

I finished this book in one whole day I couldn’t stop reading it!!! I found it through tik tok and was so glad I followed through, already dying to finish the series.

Starts slow but progresses into a romance fantasy you cannot put down! I ordered all the books before I finished the first one!

Great book worth reading, love is the answer!

I’ve never read a book so fast!! I was instantly engulfed into this new world and loved every minute of it!

so it took me a whole week to even convince myself to read this past the sample but everybody had been saying it’s so good so i finally convinced myself to sit & read it and when i did i literally didn’t stop. i’m writing this review at 6 am. this book is all about the characters rather than a thrilling plot. the development of characters bring a nice new type of story telling that really just keeps you in. i now understand why people call this their comfort series.

One of my favorites by far!!!

I was apprehensive about this series. Loved the first one and looking forward to reading the next

It was a great book. Loved the variety of emotions from start to finish!

Fabulous story . A very heartfelt story. I loved all of the characters I am anxious to start book 2. Do read this novel and enjoy it. Geneva Freeport New York December 29, 2021

I’ve loved SJM’s books for a while now and I was originally not going to read ACOTAR. But it looked really good, and I figured that since I’ve liked her other books, I’d like this one. And I did! Ever since her mother died and her family lost their once-grand fortune, Feyre has been the sole breadwinner in her household. To make ends meet, she hunts. But when Feyre kills a shapeshifting faerie, she is dragged to Prythian, the treacherous land of the Fae. There, she will serve out her sentence: live with the Spring Court’s High Lord, Tamlin, for the rest of her life. But as Feyre explores her new world, she becomes closer to Tamlin, and discovers that an ancient blight is sickening the courts, and will surely bring them to their knees- unless Feyre can break the curse. I think that A Court of Thorns and Roses was a great first book, but it wasn’t without its flaws. The book uses a lot of repeated ellipses and hyphens, and although it’s not a super big problem, I found it to be a little annoying. In the end though this was a great book and I can’t wait to start A Court of Mist and Fury.

Hook

There are no words to say. Book is awesome. It’s one of my favorite fantasy reads. Highly recommend this book series to anyone who hasn’t read it yet!

I can’t believe I ended up reading this whole book in two days, I’m not even much of a reader.

I loved this book- the imagination, the world the author created. The lead character as a strong female who saves a world…

I have seen so many amazing reviews on this series and honestly, none of them can truly explain how amazing and mesmerizing the storyline is. The way Sarah J. Maas has woven this book around its characters and plot is unlike any other book I have ever read. There are so many emotions that have my heart pounding every time I flip the page. I finished the entire 5 book series in 4 days. I truly do love these books. I don’t know of any books that have made me feel this way. Im going to have to check out her other series, but I doubt anything will compare.

This series is one unlike I’ve ever read, and probably will read. The DYNAMICS. The CHARACTERS. The DIALOGUE. The DESCRIPTION. Don’t hesitate to read these books!! I never thought someone could take a character and change them and a reader’s feelings for them so thoroughly, and make the reader feel so deeply. What Maas does is magic, pure magic. I haven’t just read these books, I’ve been immersed in a story unlike any other that I haven’t been able to put down. I read a LOT and I don’t think I’ll ever get over the impact these books have left on me. I want to scream to the world about how amazing these books are, but these reviews will have to do.

Took me a while get into it because the beginning started off really slow, but once it picked up speed… I couldn’t put the book down.

I just finished this series today and I am literally depressed it’s over. This was most definitely one of the best series I have ever read.

I do not like this book at all. Despise it honestly. It’s like a bad spin off. BUT the rest of the books in the series? ARE AMAZING. It’s like this one book was written by a dumbed down version of the author. I’m convinced she wrote this one badly on purpose, to go with the story line in a way(you’d have to read the others to see where I’m coming from). Hate this book. LOVE and adore the rest of the whole series. I’m rereading now for the second time. Lol

Loved this book. Such a great gateway into the series. I’ve been consuming these books rapidly.

I’ve been waiting a long time for another book to make me not want to stop reading. This is it. I could not put it down! I can’t wait to start book two!!!

I liked it I'm excited for the remaining books in the series. Couldn't put them down.

The first of the book series that got me in love with reading. I am an adult now that has never loved reading, the twists and turns of these characters and the fantasy that she is written them in, to me, feel as real as the Harry Potter series. It comes to life when you read this series. I could not stop, I bought all the books immediately and when they were not here in time for me to continue to the next one, I bought them on my phone until they arrived at my home. Thank you Sarah J Maas for creating a wild world that I could loose my self in and yet also feel connected to.

Couldn’t put it down

Amazing book. Had me hooked from beginning to end. Recently got back into reading and I’m so glad I started with this

This was a work of art. I enjoyed EVERY minute spent reading.

The first book is good, the second book is glorious. Her best work! This series is tied for first place as my favorite ever.

I absolutely love this series with all of my heart. Sarah j. Maas is my new favourite author after reading 7 of her books I’m completely hooked. You’ll fall in love with the character as the series goes on and won’t regret a moment of reading it.

When I first started reading this book I thought ok, game of thrones north or the wall we’ve seen that before…but I finished the book in 3 days nonetheless. An entertaining look into the world of fairies.

My favorite series right now. I hadn’t read any fiction in 10 years and literally finished all 5 books in 1 week flat. I loved all the plot changes. Also loved her newer book, Crescent City

This book is packed with A LOT. And i mean, its overwhelming and hard to think about, buttttt, IT IS AMAZING. i read this within a week and couldn't put it down!! This book was also the reason why I have low grades in English and Spanish, so make sure u pay attention in class😂. Anywaysss, other than that, which doesnt really bother me, this book is thrilling and will keep you on your toes!! stay safe everyone!💛💛

Single handedly the BEST book I’ve ever read. I’ve not a huge reader but I couldn’t put this book down. So many wildly unpredictable twists and turns that had me holding my breath the entire time, skipping over words to race to the next. ACOTAR is truly a work of art.

I’m not going to lie, I HATED the first half of the book. The pacing was off, it was boring and the characters also kinda bored me. My sister had to talk to me into finishing it and I’m so glad I did. The last half of the book was fantastic and I became wayyy more interested just based on one character falling into a much larger role. I’m running to go purchase the second book now because I just can’t wait.

These series are my new favorite! It’s written well and the characters are awesome! There is so much development that I had to keep reading. Trust me, as a college student I should not have started these books during my semester cause I missed some assignments 😅 Read them!

This book, along with the rest of the series, is not what it seems to be. What appears to be a slow burn fantasy romance novel unravels into a series of dark twists and turns that has you at the edge of your seat wondering what’s going to happen next. Please check trigger warnings as you dive deeper into this series, and expect the most unexpected from every character along the way. Nothing is what it seems! I wish I could read this book series for the first time all over again.

Slow start but so enjoyed reading it. Once your get into it, it’s very addictive.

If you love fantasy realms and romance, THIS IS FOR YOU!

Literally had to make this my reward to get real life stuff done. Awesome book!

This . Book . Is . Phenomenal!!!!!! I stayed up til 2AM finishing this one & flew through about 75% of it from 8PM-2AM. It is literally flawless in my opinion. The author’s storytelling is absolutely exquisite & masterful — it’s one of those books that you EXPERIENCE. Think “Game of Thrones” meets “Beauty & The Beast”…but better. God, I loved this one. I’d give it a million stars & I CANNOT WAIT to read the rest of the series!!

Amazing book!! Can’t wait to read the next!!

I finished reading all the acotar books within 3 days and once I finished them, I immediately read the series 3 more times.

A fun book to read, author paints a vivid picture. Can’t wait to read the next one!

The first half was a bit slow. It was hard to grasp with the characters, as their intentions weren’t clear. There were initially many holes in the story. However, the last half revealed everything I was at first confused about. It did feel rushed towards the end, since many answers were just laid out flat for you. But I would say the story wove together quite beautifully in the end. Lots of character arcs to look out for!

okay so i’m reading the comments and a lot of people think that she is weak and fragile, blah blah blah. BUT this is the first book and Feyre is the type of heroine who finds herself throughout the series so although she may be weak and stuff now she will not be. so yeah take a chance on this book. i really liked it. it has a lot of romance in there too. if you likes the shatter me series and the cruel prince series by holly black you will like this too! and yes it may start a little slow and kinda go fast at the same time for the first book but that’s just because the author had to set the stage you know? but once you get going you can’t put it down. one of my fav romance/fantasy book series out their for teens and young adults. or anyone really! but anyways LOVE IT. FEYRE IS MY QUEEN!

I read 40 chapters in 10 hours. I just couldn’t put this book down. The details are stunning. The plot, the characters, the journey it’s all amazingly enticing! I love this book can’t wait to continue reading the rest of the book and the series!

i gave this book a 3/5. i liked it well enough, but seeing how the whole series ends, i wish i hadn’t bothered reading it.

Just started this book and so far I’m a little disappointed. The main character is strong but she doesn’t speak her mind. Her family treats her horribly but she doesn’t stand up for herself. And of course she’s a plain brunette with the personality of a stick. Which is how every young woman is written in every YA book. It’s so gross to read woman this way, so boring and demeaning. She should have been written like Alina from the Shadow and Bone series. Now that’s a good female lead! She’s strong and speaks her mind.

I’ve read this series 2 times now and I STILL can’t get enough!

I read a lot of the reviews to see if this book was worth $14. And this it the truth, the books plot is good, but it’s rushed. She falls in love too quickly and without explanation, the book suggest time passes but dose a horrible job telling us what happened in the months and weeks that pass. This book should have almost been two books, there’s a lot she doesn’t unpack which left me personally confused. It dose get a lot better past the half way point. Iv heard this series has a rough book 1 but the writing gets better. I will be buying the 2nd book.

Excellent book. The best way to describe this book is a combination of elements similar to that of: The Hunger Games The Chronicles of Narnia Beauty and the Beast Game of Thrones And perhaps Vampire Diaries. It was such a fulfilling read. You feel along side of the characters. It is emotional, gory, romantic, suspenseful and sexy. Someone in an earlier review mentioned it starting slow. That is accurate but trust the pacing because it will continue to build and the action will eventually leave you breathless. Very highly recommend!

This book actually was really well reading other reviews made me a little nervous. But the book does start really slow but it turned into something I couldn’t put down. I highly recommend.

Loved it.

Pretty good. Starts slow and the relationship between the main characters really isn’t built well. It kinda jumps from point A to point Z with little to no build up. However, the overall story is interesting and I will try book 2.

Good story, just too much for one book. The love story is interesting enough to make it worth a read, the action is very raw and descriptive. I will definitely read the other books, but probably won’t be a book on my nightstand

Just amazing. A must read. I’m on my fourth time reading it and will probably continue rereading it forever. It’s got everything and the most epic love story but not utterly predictable. Such an awesome storyline

I literally could not put this book and finished it within a couple days!! To each their own, however, I thoroughly loved it and plan on recommending to all my friends as well.

I felt this book was very hurried. Loved the idea of it. Not a lot of time spent in important areas that could have been developed more for the price you’re paying.. I’ve read better novels that were $3.99, to be completely honest. Definitely a disappointment. Sampled book 2 and the author completely skipped over their engagement and other parts that the invested reader would have really enjoyed... In all, it was a waste of money that I sadly will never get back.

Page turner!

STICK WITH THIS SERIES. Even if u don’t like the first book - I promise the second will change ur freaking mind. My favorite series of all time. I’ve re-read it like 5 times. It’s amazing

Excellent read I couldn’t put down. How true hero leadership should be portrayed.

Thoughts are Free.

ACOTAR seems like a retelling of the movie not the OG story which made it really shallow. The plot starts slow and the curse was so specific/convenient that it gave Chosen One vibes. While Feyre is not a dumb character, the author makes excuses for her to make dumb decisions to further the plot. The “beast”, Tamlin, is painfully cliche (“you’re not your father”). The villain is horribly cartoonish. Rhysand would have made an awesome villain, but his relationship with Feyre was problematic especially since it looks like he’s a potential love interest. Trigger warnings for romanticized assauIt and lack of consent. The world building was pretty cool and I liked how illiteracy was handled. In general ACOTAR feels like it’s just setting up the rest of the series.

So I personally hate first person POV’s. Personally the man characters in the books I’ve read previously in first person just lean on that story telling devise way too much, My friend kept telling me how amazing this series was and how I just needed to push through the first few chapters and then I’d get it..... and you know what, this book lives up to the hype. If you’re like me and hate first person, just push through and by the end of the sample you’ll become invested.

I just finished the whole series and I’m coming back to write a review of this one to tell you READ THIS BOOK the characters and their developments are amazing and the plot is fantastic and it keeps you on your toes at every sentence. This series has become my new favorite without even a shred of competition.

I have thoroughly enjoyed this series. Nesta’s character arc was very well written.

From start to finish. Brilliantly and masterfully given. Savor it like a fine wine. You won’t be sorry you met Ferye or her family.

I love this book!!!

It's absolutely amazing.

Stunning tale! Made me shed more than one tear! My only complaint*spoiler alert* is when the curse was revealed, that was truly silly but the rest of this book stole my heart ❤️

Absolutely loved this book, loved the plot. I'm a sucker for enemies to lover romances and would recommend this to any friend.

This book was absolutely amazing so much so that I finished it rather quickly and considered revisiting it I. Am. Hooked. Amazing author I promise you won’t regret this purchase

Such a great book!!!

The story was decent. The characters and some situations were plucked out of other series, such as Hunger Games, Twilight, and Harry Potter, to name a few. However, the BIGGEST offense is what and how much was stolen from Anne Bishop's Black Jewels series: Daemon SaDi and Dorothea SaDiablo basically showed up in this book with new names of Rhysand and Amaranth. I could go on with pages of other examples. I'm very surprised I havent read this type of feedback in the other comments, unless those were suppressed.

Loved the intrigue, story development, and characters. Yet I couldn’t shake the similarities to ‘Beauty and the Beast’. It was just too much of a coincidence to ignore, yet I read it chapter by chapter...and enjoyed it regardless.

Amazing

Fae have always been my favorite kind of fantasy creature, and yet I feel like no one ever makes stories about them. Sarah J Maas must have the same love of fae/fairies as I do! This series has become my favorite fantasy series out of all the ones I’ve read. I love the characters, I love Maas’s writing, and I love how she brings some bits of classic fables into this series. There’s also steamy romance, though the second book in this series has the best romance scenes. I also read her Throne of Glass series, but I like this one better.

Excellent read! I connected to every character and wasn't able to put this book down!

I’m surprised at how unskilled the writing is here, given Maas’s popularity. I’ve read indie fantasy authors with much better writing chops. The sentences are clunky, and loose; the descriptions mediocre, and the protagonist is very 2D. It reads like something a talented 10th grader might have come up with. That said, the story is amusing. I purchased all books at once on discount and hope I can get through them. But so far, the first one is difficult to keep reading.
