Full of twists, this book will keep you awake until the turn of the last page.”
--Books and Movie Reviews, Roberto Mattos (re Once Gone)

FACE OF DEATH is book #1 in a new FBI thriller series by USA Today bestselling author Blake Pierce, whose #1 bestseller Once Gone (Book #1) (a free download) has received over 1,000 five star reviews.

FBI Special Agent Zoe Prime suffers from a rare condition which also gives her a unique talent—she views the world through a lens of numbers. The numbers torment her, make her unable to relate to people, and give her a failed romantic life—yet they also allow her to see patterns that no other FBI agent can see. Zoe keeps her condition a secret, ashamed, in fear her colleagues may find out.

Yet when a serial killer strikes across the Midwest, strangling women in remote places and seemingly at random, Zoe, for the first time, is stumped. Is there a pattern? Can there be no pattern at all?

Or is this killer as obsessed with numbers as she is?

In a mad race against time, Zoe must enter the diabolical mind of a killer who always seems to be one step ahead of her, and stop him from claiming his next victim before it’s too late. At the same time, she must keep at bay her own demons, which may ultimately prove to be even more threatening.

An action-packed thriller with heart-pounding suspense, FACE OF DEATH is book #1 in a riveting new series that will leave you turning pages late into the night.

Books #2 and #3 in the series—FACE OF MURDER and FACE OF FEAR—are also available!

Face of Death. Zoe, an FBI Agent, has special case solving perceptions and has been thru many agency partners, until teamed up with Shelly to catch a serial killer. Fast paced and thrilling read, but will Shelly believe in Zoe’s special skills and help solve the case and remain her partner, while keeping her secret?

Face of Death - Stella Gold a/k/a Blake Pierce. I enjoyed this book immensely. Zoe’s special gift is very intriguing. I have been disappointed by several of the author’s second books, as well as the rest of the series, because the plot and writing fall short of the first book. I hope this series will be different and that the books will live up to the quality of this one. I also encourage the writer to obtain better editing as many other readers have mentioned.

Oh pam

A different approach. Loved it, nice to have a quirky detective rather than the usual good looking one, different story line too

Simini71

Thrilling. FBI Zoe Prime is unique and has an ability of seeing mathematical patterns everywhere she looks. Zoe has her own fears and anxieties and vows to keep them a secret from others. Her fears and anxieties stems from her childhood which is slowly revealed to readers. A great page turning book.

L122e

Face of facts!. This was an outstanding book with an insight to the character which I had not read before. The way it was written keeps you within Zoe’s mindset through out the book. Intriguing, interesting and fulfilling

Joules X

Face of Death. Really enjoyed reading this book. Loved the way the story showed how Zoe’s childhood intertwined in the story and helped you to understand her character. Can’t wait to read the next book in the series and see how Zoe’s character develops and how her mind works to solve crime.

Wow, hooked from the first page!!!. Once again, an absolutely enthralling story. Wonderful characters and gripping storyline. This book grabs your attention from the first page and I found myself reading through until the early hours of the morning. I highly recommend this book and in fact all books written by this author to any lover of crime and thriller novels. In fact, I already have to all my friends and family. I’m so excited to read the next book.

Cassies mum

Face of death. Absolutely brilliant * * * * * * *. Seven stars

Laureck

Strays from the other series. I finished the book only due to the fact I love Blake’s other series! This book was disjointed, No character had a full background, the killer and partner of Zoe were not established at all! Zoe I disliked straightaway due to her thinking that no one would understand her gift so she wasn’t willing to let anyone in and her gift should have been a positive from the outset! She was arrogant in the worst way!Repetition of numbers and patterns that had nothing to do with the story was mind numbing! Will probably only get the 2nd book if I have run out of others

Cath McTernan

A Special Ability for an FBI Agent Tracking a Serial Killer. This is book one of the Zoe Prime Mystery series and follows FBI Special Agent Zoe as she uses her special sense to help solve cases. She suffers from an unusual type of synaesthesia that allows her to view crime scene clues as numbers and patterns floating across her mind’s eye and allows her brain to interpret all these clues and get evidence from this that no-one else can visualise. This special way of viewing the world meant Zoe had a very hard and trying childhood, with a mother who treated her view of the world as evil and demonised her. She was left lacking in interactions with other children and unable to form normal friendships and relationships. This has led to her having problems keeping partners at work and comments about her blank look and lack of emotions. She now has a new partner called Shelley, who whilst younger and less experienced than Zoe, is already well thought of and advancing rapidly. Their first case together is an escaped prisoner, on the run and killing people in his path. They reached the latest location shortly after the crime occurred and Zoe can immediately see the path the prisoner took and where he would likely be going and they could find him. They solve this case quickly and are soon put onto another. Zoe can’t manage small talk with others and there is a cringe-worthy date placed in front of readers, where Zoe realises all of her mistakes afterwards, in her complete lack of interaction with her date, but still can’t put much of it into practice. Her new partner is also in this awkward position and has to try and find out how to best work with Zoe and to get some back and forth flow of ideas between them. Their next case involves a trail of three dead women so far, found in lonely and out of the way locations, seemingly at random, but killed in the same manner. There is nothing linking the victims, no reason they were selected by the killer and this is not going to be quite as simple to solve as their last case. Zoe can see no pattern and it appears the attacks are completely random, maybe this is the pattern – no pattern! He has cleaned the scenes after himself and practically no clues are left behind for the agents to pursue. Zoe may well have met her match and found a killer more obsessed with numbers and patterns than she is. Zoe refuses to let her fellow agents know about her strange ability, but also refuses to seek any help from the psychiatrist her former mentor suggested for her. She has a lot of dark secrets from her past that still affect her and have led her to keep her ability secret, even from her fellow agents and partners. They are in a race against time to try and stop him before he kills another victim. They know where they think he is heading, but only have a vague idea of his height, weight and build. Zoe has to fight her own demons from her past and also this killer with possibly a similar affliction. Whether she can succeed on both fronts is yet to be seen and if she can manage to keep her partner, maybe she is finally evolving in her relations with others and the showing of emotion. A fascinating subject to use as a tool for the main character and makes for a very different view of crime scenes. A great and easy read and an enjoyable thriller. I look forward to reading the next in the series. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above. Life and career Born in Watertown, New York, he began his show business career playing the organ and acting in radio dramas at station WWNY. He branched out into a comedy routine, attired in tuxedo, yet managing to evoke eerily convincing imitations of popular movie actresses. Eschewing the term drag queen, which he hated, he billed himself as a male actress. Initially playing in small gay clubs, his fame spread. He took up residence in San Francisco, where his act became well known to Hollywood stars. As he toured, his costuming became more elaborate, initially adding small props, later full costume and makeup changes.
