Mr. Mayfair

Mr. Mayfair by Louise Bay Book Summary

My boyfriend is getting married.

Okay, technically he's my ex-boyfriend. Two months ago he decided he wanted a break. I still thought he was my happily ever after.

On any other day, knowing he was gone for good would be the worst thing that could possibly happen.

But not today.

Because not only is my boyfriend getting married—his bride is my best friend.

And they've sent me an invitation.

There's no way I'm going to attend.  I don't care if it's in beautiful Scotland.

Nothing and no one could convince me.

Not even when a deliciously handsome stranger tells me he needs to go as my plus one.

Not even when he shoots me a wickedly, sexy smile.

But then he offers me the opportunity of a lifetime—a dream come true. How can I say no?

But I have one condition. He has to be my new boyfriend. I mean, my pretend new boyfriend.

Good story and good chuckles. So nice to read an author with a good sense of humor.

Wow. Loved both protagonists. Beck is so perfect. Stella is insecure but it works well in this story What a great romance. I love it

Great book to start the Mister series, this is Beck and Stella’s story . This has some very exciting moments as two strangers attend the wedding of Stella’s ex-boyfriend and her ex-best friend. See how these two reach their HEA .

Loved it!

I always love a story with a HEA & this one did not disappoint. The character development was fantastic. One of the best books I’ve read in a while. Pick this one up ASAP! You won’t regret it!

Loved this story.

Enjoyed this book and the characters. Worth the read

I enjoyed the story, characters and all the stuff we go through to learn and grow and finally accept reality. The best part was the ending. Thank you for several hours of good reading.

Liked the characters and relationships between friends

I liked the book. The characters were nice and given a lot of depth. (Though sometimes the inner monologue got a little tedious.)

What can I say…. I love the book.❤️❤️❤️❤️ Plenty of heat!🔥🔥🔥🔥 Bec’s love for Stella; a girl could only wish!!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️

Too cute. It was an enjoyable read. Great characters and good setting. I will give this a 4 1/2 stars. The only thing I would change is if Matt would have been pounded in the dirt!

I read a lot and I have to say this book consumed my interest from page one. The writer was able to bring the characters to life and the explanation of the settings were just right that you could feel you were there. Thank you for taking my first place writer slot. Look forward to exploring your other works of art…..

Very well written. I loved that the author started strong into the characters. Not once did I loose interest, as a matter of fact. I kept going and read it in a day. Loved reading it. And like that it was a Stand-alone. Will definitely read more of this author.

First time reading this author. I really enjoyed the story. The sex was a little more descriptive than I liked useing words that are more of a turn off than a turn on ,for me anyway. Otherwise I liked everything about this couple and their story I will definitely be reading this author again..

Perfect love story.

Ahhhhhhh I love this book and can’t wait to see each of the boys stories!!! Beck is just so mmmhhhh like I wanna beck in real life, sadly they don’t exist, at least not where I am 😭 Anyways this was a great book and I loved it! Perfect mixture of sweet speeches and thoughts with hot steaming lustness! I definitely do recommend!

Didn’t really have the passion/heat that I like in my books. It was a cut story though.

Very sweet, very swoony, very British. I loved this book. It has a lot of parallels to the Wedding Date, which is thankfully acknowledged in the book. Beck Wilde is so dreamy and I lived watching Stella’s journey.

Well written and very romantic. The situation about after seven years of relationships ,she was betrayed by her best friend and boyfriend. Recommended.📖📚👵🏻👏👀👍

I loved Beck and Stella. The fake relationship that quickly becomes more because all of their walls and expectations are down with each other. Loved the banter. Can’t wait for more from this world. Full of heart, steam, and connection.

Wonderful book, loved the characters! Only complaint was it went on too long.

Great read

Stella and Beck's story really hit all of my emotions. Stella is the kind of person who gives so much to others that she loses sight of what she truly wants. Losing Matt which caused Beck to come storming into her life was the best thing that could have happened to her. This story gave me every feeling and I fell head over heals for this couple and became extremely protective of them and the devils that are Matt and Karen. This was a fantastic read and I loved every minute of it. The storytelling is spot on and the story pulled at my heartstrings. Great read.

Stella is almost the complete opposite of my personality, so it was really fun stepping into her mindset and venturing to new ways of thinking. Some people might have seen her as weak, but to me she was strong. Beck is just.. I can’t think of a good enough word for him! I’d let all of London watch whatever he wanted to do to me. Lol. And while the burn started slow... like a forest fire, it quickly spread and consumed everything around these characters and me. Oh, and that ending was everything I could have wanted. Louise gives us such great characters that you won’t want to say goodbye to! I’ll definitely need to revisit them In the future. I can’t wait for Dexter’s book. Hopefully we’ll get more glimpses into Beck and Stella in his book too.

Oh how I wish I could be in one of Ms. Bay's books! She writes about England and Scotland so beautifully, and with the knowledge that Americans are reading it too.  There is English slang, but it's easy to pick up on. I even felt a right bit smarter after reading it! So this is the lovely story of Beck and Stella. Two folks that need the other in a bit of an unorthodox way.  They are both getting what they want out of the deal they struck and then they get so much more. I was heartbroken for Stella at first, then when she found her inner fire and her strength, I was cheering her on hard!  She was no fragile English rose, she had thorns too!  I could empathize with her vulnerabilities and her issues of trust.  I mean who wouldn't have their foundation rocked if the same thing had happened to them. Beck, oh you dodgy fellow!  Beck thought he was living the charmed life.  He was determined to do what he had to to get what he wanted, no matter what the cost.  But was the price too high? You get beautiful descriptions of locations throughout Scotland in this story, you get the charm and cosmopolitan feeling of London too.  Ms. Bay has a magic to her words, she fully immerses her readers into her stories and that's a true testament to talented writing. This book was delightful and will give you all the feels! Get your hands on it!

This was a funny sexy and charming story. Beck and Stella were perfect for each other. Wicked chemistry between them. A fun read

A good story that made me laugh.

A wonderfully and brilliantly written love story by Louise. Such incredible characters! A definite must read. A real feel good story. Thank you Louise for sharing this amazing love story with all of us.

Loved this book so much. It was refreshing!

Absolutely fabulous . Great story , fantastic characters . A must read

Couldn’t help myself and read it in one day! Fell in love with a witty woman that rises above the haters to succeed. No slouch in the man candy department, a true gentleman is her equal. Can’t wait to get the next in the series!

Love all LB’s books but particularly loved this one!! HEA are always great but this ones pulls at the heartstrings. 🥰🥰

Loved this book as I do all Louise’s books. What a great story. Always when I read her new books I have to go back and read the previous ones ❤️❤️

Stella London and Beck Wilde... love their names! Beck and Stella agree to a fake relationship so a devastated Stella can attend her ex boyfriends wedding to her best friend in exchange for an introduction to Henry Dawney whose property Beck is after. Their chemistry is off the charts and Beck is every girl’s dream... SWOON! Loved this book! Another great read by Louise Bay!

Stella is blindsided by a wedding invitation and has no intention of accepting but a friend and a hot stranger who really needs to attend the wedding, persuade her otherwise. Loved the buildup to the relationship and how they didn’t immediately fall into bed with each other. The only thing I found off-putting was that a story set in Britain with British characters had American spelling eg. “If not a check, maybe I can do you a favor”

Loving these books. Great stand alone stories that all inter-link. They are about friendship, relationships, sexy, romantic. With HEA’s they bring happiness into your daily routine and a smile to your face.

Mr Mayfair is Louise Bay at her absolute best! I’m a huge fan of Louise’s and am always excited as we eagerly await her new releases. After all the teasers and of course the gorgeous invites we received through the post, I couldn’t wait to dive in, the anticipation was killing me! As usual, Louise didn’t disappoint! Stella and Beck’s story completely swept me off my feet and took me on a whirlwind ride as we follow them both on their journeys in the hope of finding closure, allowing them both to move on with the next chapter in their lives. Stella London finds out she’s not only been ditched, but also traded in for her supposed best friend via an email invitation to their upcoming wedding! Totally heartbroken, Stella is at a complete loss as to how she can possibly move forward after the betrayal of two very important people in her life. Enter Beck Wilde. Smooth, suave, sophisticated and drop dead gorgeous, Beck approaches Stella with a business proposal: take him as her plus one to the upcoming nuptials of her ex boyfriend and ex best friend and he’ll give her whatever she wants. But Stella wouldn’t possibly want to attend their wedding...would she? What follows is a gorgeous story of two strangers with an end goal to focus on, who’s ‘fake’ relationship begins to build into something more real. But with both of them carrying the betrayal of their pasts, can they see past the resentment to realise what’s right there in front of them? This book is hands down one of my top favourite reads of the year, and has quickly become my new favourite Louise Bay book (sorry Luke!). It’s sweet, romantic and funny, but also emotional and completely relatable. Stella and Beck are both strong, independent characters, but Louise shows a vulnerability in them both that we can all relate to. The supporting characters were also brilliantly written and I can’t wait to see more of them! 5 fantastic stars from my favourite author!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 17 hours ago
