What I Like About You

What I Like About You by Kait Nolan Book Summary

A horse-whispering loner
After years as an Army Ranger, Sebastian Donnelly is content to be left alone with his horses. He's better with them than with...people. But that changes when his boss's little sister shows up. There's something about her, a vulnerability that tugs at his need to rescue. And a sexy, vivacious charm that ignites an attraction he ought to ignore.

A soon-to-be lawyer
Desperate for a break before her last semester of law school, Laurel Maxwell is excited to see her brother marry the woman he loves. Logan and Athena, their happiness, the life they're building at the farm all serve as a reminder that she's barreling toward a future she's no longer sure she wants. One her overbearing father insists is the only path she's meant for.

Who's rescuing who?
When Laurel is offered the chance to stay on the farm and dogsit while the happy couple honeymoons, she jumps at the chance to get out her life and into Sebastian's strong arms. He wants to help her make her decision, a choice with haunting echoes of his own past. But is there any path that leads to a forever where a brilliant lawyer and reclusive horse trainer could build a life together?

I couldn’t put this book down. Loved the story line from beginning to end. Perfect read.

Great read

Another great love story in the series!

Kait delivers once again! This book was sweet, funny and a page turner! You won’t be disappointed

How many of us have felt overwhelming pressure to do more of something we thought (possibly years prior!) we wanted to do, but as time passed we realize it’s not what we’re destined to do? I loved this story because honestly, who wouldn’t want a Sebastian in their life? So dive in and enjoy!!! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I have made no qualms about expressing how much I love Kait Nolan as an author. She has a magical way of making each and everyone of her characters come to life, and practically run like a movie before your eyes. What I Like About You could quite possibly be my favorite book from her to-date. I love how she has two (2) broken characters, that do not necessarily know that they are broken, work towards making a mends. They did not know each other before meeting at a rehearsal dinner. However, the fact that Sebastian, a broken retired veteran, who works on Laurel’s brother’s ranch, can see Laurel when no else can, is truly remarkable. As you read page after page, you learn more about Laurel, her drive, and where she has gotten lost on her journey. Through each hurdle, Sebastian is there to give her strength, when she doesn’t even realize she needs it. Keep in mind that Kait Nolan finds a way to continue to show Laurel as the strong Heroine that she is, while sharing her weaknesses. Then there is Sebastian, a man having a hard time overcoming his past, with amazing support from his friends intown. As there should be, there is a push and pull between the two (2) characters, and then the anxiety of whether they will find their way together, or will they go their separate ways. Add the mystery of their friendship, their immediate chemistry, and how Laurel’s brother cannot know that they may be @more than friends”. Highly recommend this book! The only reason for the reduced half a star is that I get tired of the undertone of getting past the past. Otherwise, it is a total book binge, and I’m confident you will find yourself unable to put it down! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Kait Nolan’s newest offering speaks to anyone who may have gotten into a rut without really knowing how or why. I hate giving spoilers, so without going into specifics, I’ll just say it should stimulate every reader with an out-of-balance life to re-evaluate their life and pursue what they need to complete it. The story delivers humor and passion and drama in typical Kait Nolan fashion and has moved up to being one of my favorites of all her books! The title of this book should be what don’t I like about you....because that’s my question! There wasn’t one thing I didn’t like. From our hero Sebastian, who better with horses than with people, to the anxiety ridden Laurel, who’s been trying to live up to her fathers expectations for years. Their instant chemistry, much more potent than mere physical attraction, could be felt directly through the page, right from their first meeting. Instead of opposites attract, I think our couple were instead two halves of the same heart, finally reunited thanks to the seamless storytelling of author Nolan. I was totally invested in their journey, which was sweet, hot and even a bit frustrating. But that’s life, love and couple-hood. Not a fairytale but a journey. And for me, this was a five star journey which I recommend whole heartedly! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I love the small town romances of Kait Nolan! What I Like About You is a beautiful emotional story of Laurel and Sebastian romance. Laurel and Sebastian are attracted to each other when they meet at her brother Logan’s wedding. After the wedding Laurel stays at her brothers organic farm to dog sit and relax before the holidays and her last semester of law school. Sebastian is ex military and has been working at Logan’s farm rescuing horses and giving horse riding lessons. Sebastian has trust issues and Laurel isn’t happy and is doubting her decision to be a lawyer. I throughly enjoyed reading What I Like About You and highly recommend reading it. Kait Nolan does it again. This story is wonderful. She intertwines characters from past books (I don’t know how she does it, remembering all those people) and it makes the current story come alive. I find that her development of the characters makes it easy for you to “sink into” the story and feel like you know theses characters. From the first time I “traveled” to Eden’s Ridge, I can just see it in my mind. The development of the story between Sebastian and Laurel is very enjoyable. Sebastian is a quiet man who enjoys the company of animals over people. Laurel is a woman that on the surface is confident and sure of where she wants to go with her life, but underneath ... not so much. I enjoyed the progression of both characters. I encourage all who are in love with “Eden’s Ridge” and it’s inhabitants to read this book. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

ARC for honest review with no compensation received from BookSprout What I Like About You is book 2 of the Rescue My Heart series by Kait Nolan and a great addition to this series. Laura Maxwell comes to Eden’s Ridge to see her brother marry the woman of his dreams and to take a break from her last semester of law school. While watching her brother find his HEA, she is realizing that maybe becoming a lawyer is no longer what she wants in life. Retired Army Ranger, Sebastian Donnelly works for Logan Maxwell owner of Maxwell Farms taking over the care of the horses and has expanded to rescuing and rehabilitating horses. His quiet, calm demeanor has some people calling him the horse whisperer. When these to meet right at the wedding rehearsal, electricity flows between them, he somehow sees her for who she is on the inside and feels a deep connection that neither sees coming! Can these to find what has been missing in their lives and get their HEA or will pressures from family make Laurel ignore what’s in her heart??

Sebastian and Laurel are so cute together (in my mind). They fit like 2 lost souls; he already finding his happy place in life, but unsure how to sustain it and her realizing her childhood dreams hold the key to her future. He not only shows her what she’s missing, but with the help of his meddling (but well meaning) friends she figures out how to make her present something she can look forward to in the future. There are plenty of cameos from the Misfit clan, judgmental aristocratic parents and even a search and rescue. This book has it all and can be read as a stand-alone with a guaranteed Happy Ending. With this latest addition to to her Rescue My Heart series Kait Nolan has once again delivered a wonderful romance packaged with great lessons about finding and choosing your own path to happiness. I really enjoyed getting to know Sebastian and Laurel and their back stories. I also enjoyed seeing Laurel's character unfold as she finds her own sense of self. Sebastian is awesome. I loved seeing his support and encouragement for Laurel while he works through his own baggage. Great read! Thanks again Kait. Loved this book! This is a beautiful story featuring two realistic characters. I loved both Laurel and Sebastian as they seemed like real people. I became engrossed in the story from the first page because the writing is so well done. The dialogue flowed smoothly (choppy dialogue is a huge pet peeve of mine) and added depth to the story. Sebastian and Laurel (and all of the supporting characters) were woven together to create a community the reader falls in love with. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a quick, meaningful read. I don’t want to give any of the plot away but this book is definitely worth the read. The characters will tug at your heart strings while making you smile throughout their journey. P.S. this book is great for horse lovers! The horses are a beautiful addition to the storyline! I loved Laurel and Sebastian’s story! Match-making Ari is at it again with these two, but with the help of Logan this time. Sebastian is the strong, non-peopling, horse rescuing hero with a thing for his buddy’s upfront, tell it like it is, take no crap, lawyer little sister. Both Laurel & Sebastian have their own demons to overcome. Though both in denial of those demons, they need each other to finally overcome them. They must both save each other! I truly loved this story! This is a story I would love to see on the big screen! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

In another story from the crew surrounding the Misfit Inn, Kait Nolan delivers a hit that I couldn’t put down. With the help of Logan, Sebastian has found his niche rescuing horses but he’s running out of space. When Logan’s sister, Laurel, comes to town for his wedding, Sebastian helps her through a panic attack. Are Sebastian and Laurel the next match made in this group? Can they help each other to their own happily ever after? I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I adore everything Kait Nolan writes. There’s nothing of hers that I’ve read that I haven’t loved. She has the ability to have me convulsing in paroxysms of laughter and heaving great shuddering sobs. This book didn’t disappoint. I’m a sucker for a military hero, so this whole series is right up my alley. Make him brooding and gothic, like Sebastian, and he becomes more irresistible to me than catnip to your favorite mouser. I suffer from a similar affliction as Laurel – a need to please and gain my parents’ validation. It’s safe to say that Sebastian and Laurel and carrying around a lot of emotional baggage. And the story gets pretty deep as they unpack it all. I loved these two together, even though they frequently drove me a little crazy. But I think one of the things I loved best about this book was that we got to see all the denizens of the Misfit Inn again as well as Ivy and Harrison. I can’t wait to come back and do it again. I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book through Booksprout.

Kait Nolan does it again! An amazing story about A brilliant law student who has anxiety attacks & speaks her mind , an ex military hero who has abandonment issues, however runs a horse rescue operation plus a match making teenager hoping for another successful match. Set on a beautiful farm , what more could you wish for. Every book by Kait draws me deeper into the small town setting,💕💕💕 love them all. Can’t wait for the next one
